Plasmonic nanocavity-enabled universal detection of layer-breathing vibrations in two-dimensional materials

Conventional Raman spectroscopy faces inherent limitations in detecting interlayer layer breathing (LB) vibrations with inherently weak electron-phonon coupling or Raman inactivity in two-dimensional materials, hindering insights into interfacial coupling and stacking dynamics. Here we demonstrate a universal plasmon-enhanced Raman spectroscopy strategy using gold or silver nanocavities to strongly enhance and detect LB modes in multilayer graphene, hBN, and their van der Waals heterostructures. Plasmonic nanocavities even modify the linear and circular polarization selection rules of the LB vibrations. By developing an electric-field-modulated interlayer bond polarizability model, we quantitatively explain the observed intensity profiles and reveal the synergistic roles of localized plasmonic field enhancement and interfacial polarizability modulation. This model successfully describes the behavior across different material systems and nanocavity geometries. This work not only overcomes traditional detection barriers but also provides a quantitative framework for probing interlayer interactions, offering a versatile platform for investigating hidden interfacial phonons and advancing the characterization of layered quantum materials.

Discriminative-Generative Target Speaker Extraction with Decoder-Only Language Models

Target speaker extraction (TSE) aims to recover the speech of a desired speaker from a mixture given a short enrollment utterance, while speech enhancement (SE) focuses on improving speech quality under noisy conditions. Most existing TSE and SE systems are based on discriminative modeling and have shown strong interference suppression ability, but they often remain limited in perceptual quality and naturalness. To address this issue, we first introduce LauraTSE, a generative TSE model built on an autoregressive decoder-only language model. Although generative modeling is promising for quality enhancement, purely generative TSE may suffer from hallucination, content drift, and limited controllability in complex acoustic conditions. We therefore propose a discriminative-generative two-stage framework, where a discriminative front-end first produces target-related representations with strong interference suppression, and a generative back-end then reconstructs high-quality speech in the neural audio codec representation space. This design combines the controllability of discriminative extraction with the reconstruction capability of generative modeling. We further investigate several collaboration strategies for the two-stage framework, including front-end freezing, joint fine-tuning, SI-SDR regularization, and autoregressive/non-autoregressive inference. Experimental results on both TSE and SE benchmarks show that the proposed framework achieves a better balance among perceptual quality, intelligibility, and speaker consistency than purely discriminative or purely generative baselines.

A Modular and Scalable Simulator for Connected-UAVs Communication in 5G Networks

Cellular-connected UAV systems have enabled a wide range of low-altitude aerial services. However, these systems still face many challenges, such as frequent handovers and the inefficiency of traditional transport protocols. To better study these issues, we develop a modular and scalable simulation platform specifically designed for UAVs communication leveraging the research ecology in wireless communication of MATLAB. The platform supports flexible 5G NR node deployment, customizable UAVs mobility models, and multi-network-interface extensions. It also supports multiple transport protocols including TCP, UDP, QUIC, etc., allowing to investigate how different transport protocols affect UAVs communication performance. In addition, the platform includes a handover management module, enabling the evaluation of both traditional and learning-based handover strategies. Our platform can serve as a testbed for the development and evaluation of advanced transmission strategies in cellular-connected UAV systems.

A New Radar Signal Multiparameter-Based Deinterleaving Method

Radar signal deinterleaving has been extensively and thoroughly investigated in the electronic reconnaissance field. In this work, a new radar signal multiparameter-based deinterleaving method is proposed. In this method, semantic information composed of the pulse repetition interval (PRI), pulse width (PW), radio frequency (RF), and pulse amplitude (PA) of a radar signal is used to deinterleave radar signals. A bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BGRU) is employed, and the difference of time of arrival (DTOA)/RF, DTOA/PW, and DTOA/PA of the pulse stream are input into the BGRU. Based on the semantic information contained in different radar signal types, each pulse in the obtained pulse stream is classified according to the semantic information category, and the radar signals are deinterleaved. Compared to the PRI-based deinterleaving methods, the proposed method utilizes the multidimensional information of radar signals. As a result, higher deinterleaving accuracy is achieved. Compared to other existing radar signal multiparameter-based deinterleaving methods, the proposed method can adapt to radar signals with complex parameter features as well as to complex signal environments, and can complete the use of multiparameter in one step.

GRCN: Graph-Refined Convolutional Network for Multimedia Recommendation with Implicit Feedback

Reorganizing implicit feedback of users as a user-item interaction graph facilitates the applications of graph convolutional networks (GCNs) in recommendation tasks. In the interaction graph, edges between user and item nodes function as the main element of GCNs to perform information propagation and generate informative representations. Nevertheless, an underlying challenge lies in the quality of interaction graph, since observed interactions with less-interested items occur in implicit feedback (say, a user views micro-videos accidentally). This means that the neighborhoods involved with such false-positive edges will be influenced negatively and the signal on user preference can be severely contaminated. However, existing GCN-based recommender models leave such challenge under-explored, resulting in suboptimal representations and performance. In this work, we focus on adaptively refining the structure of interaction graph to discover and prune potential false-positive edges. Towards this end, we devise a new GCN-based recommender model, \emph{Graph-Refined Convolutional Network} (GRCN), which adjusts the structure of interaction graph adaptively based on status of model training, instead of remaining the fixed structure. In particular, a graph refining layer is designed to identify the noisy edges with the high confidence of being false-positive interactions, and consequently prune them in a soft manner. We then apply a graph convolutional layer on the refined graph to distill informative signals on user preference. Through extensive experiments on three datasets for micro-video recommendation, we validate the rationality and effectiveness of our GRCN. Further in-depth analysis presents how the refined graph benefits the GCN-based recommender model.

Hierarchical User Intent Graph Network forMultimedia Recommendation

In this work, we aim to learn multi-level user intents from the co-interacted patterns of items, so as to obtain high-quality representations of users and items and further enhance the recommendation performance. Towards this end, we develop a novel framework, Hierarchical User Intent Graph Network, which exhibits user intents in a hierarchical graph structure, from the fine-grained to coarse-grained intents. In particular, we get the multi-level user intents by recursively performing two operations: 1) intra-level aggregation, which distills the signal pertinent to user intents from co-interacted item graphs; and 2) inter-level aggregation, which constitutes the supernode in higher levels to model coarser-grained user intents via gathering the nodes' representations in the lower ones. Then, we refine the user and item representations as a distribution over the discovered intents, instead of simple pre-existing features. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our model, we conducted extensive experiments on three public datasets. Our model achieves significant improvements over the state-of-the-art methods, including MMGCN and DisenGCN. Furthermore, by visualizing the item representations, we provide the semantics of user intents.

Nonexistence of perfect permutation codes under the Kendall τ-metric

In the rank modulation scheme for flash memories, permutation codes have been studied. In this paper, we study perfect permutation codes in $S_n$, the set of all permutations on $n$ elements, under the Kendall τ-Metric. We answer one open problem proposed by Buzaglo and Etzion. That is, proving the nonexistence of perfect codes in $S_n$, under the Kendall τ-metric, for more values of $n$. Specifically, we present the recursive formulas for the size of a ball with radius $r$ in $S_n$ under the Kendall τ-metric. Further, We prove that there are no perfect $t$-error-correcting codes in $S_n$ under the Kendall $τ$-metric for some $n$ and $t$=2,3,4,or 5.

Realization of t-bit semiclassical quantum Fourier transform on IBM's quantum cloud computer

To overcome the difficulty of realizing large-scale quantum Fourier transform (QFT) within existing technology, this paper presents a resource-saving method, namely t-bit semiclassical QFT over (Z_(2^n)), which could realize large-scale QFT using arbitrary-scale quantum register. Using our method, the scale of quantum register can be determined flexibility according to the scale of quantum system, enabling the quantum resource and speed of realizing QFT to be optimal. By developing a feasible method to realize the control quantum gate R_k, we experimentally demonstrate the 2-bit semiclassical QFT over (Z_(2^3)) on IBM's quantum cloud computer, showing the feasibility of our proposed method. Then, we compare the actual performance of 2-bit semiclassical QFT and standard QFT in the experiments. Experimental data show that the fidelity of the result of 2-bit semiclassical QFT is higher than that of standard QFT, which is mainly due to less two-qubit controlled gates are required in the semiclassical QFT. Furthermore, based on the proposed method, we successfully implement the Shor's algorithm to factorize N=15.
