Joint Planning and Scheduling of Modular Vehicles for Passenger-Freight Integration

This paper proposes a modular vehicle system for passenger-freight integration along a bidirectional transit corridor. The system uses homogeneous units that can be coupled into vehicles and assigned to either passenger or freight service. Freight is carried by dedicated units, with loading and unloading coordinated with docking and undocking and separated from passenger boarding and alighting. To better respond to uncertain passenger demand and integrate freight transport, vehicles can be reconfigured at intermediate stations, where they can also depart and terminate. We jointly optimize departure-specific service routes, timetables, vehicle compositions, unit schedules, and passenger-freight demand assignments, with unit reuse constrained by explicit docking and undocking times. These decisions are modeled on a space-time-state network and formulated as a stochastic mixed-integer program that minimizes unit deployment costs, passenger waiting costs, and penalties for unmet freight demand. Passenger demand uncertainty is addressed using linearized chance constraints. To solve the problem, we develop an exact Benders decomposition algorithm with valid inequalities and a warm-start strategy, together with a tailored decomposition-based heuristic for larger instances. Computational experiments on instances generated from representative transit corridors in Gothenburg demonstrate the effectiveness of the Benders algorithm for small- and medium-sized instances and the scalability of the heuristic for larger problems. Sensitivity analyses highlight the value of accounting for passenger demand uncertainty and the effects of temporal overlap between passenger and freight demand. Comparisons with benchmark transit systems further demonstrate the operational advantages of the proposed modular integrated system.

Reductive Contact and Dipolar Interface Engineering Enable Stable Flexible CsSnI3 Nanowire Photodetectors

Lead-free tin-based halide perovskites are attractive for flexible and environmentally benign optoelectronics, but their application is limited by the rapid oxidation of Sn2+ to Sn4+ and poor operational stability. Here, we report a flexible CsSnI3 nanowire photodetector that achieves both high near-infrared photoresponse and long-term stability through synergistic aluminium-substrate contact engineering and dipolar interface modification. A 0.2 mm anodized aluminium foil serves as the flexible substrate, where localized laser ablation exposes metallic aluminium regions that act as reductive sites, effectively suppressing Sn2+ oxidation during nanowire growth. Simultaneously, a polar interlayer of 3-fluoro-2-nitroanisole is introduced to improve energy-level alignment, suppress interfacial deprotonation, and enhance charge extraction. The resulting device exhibits a responsivity of 0.39 A W-1, a specific detectivity of 1.38 * 10^13 Jones, and a wide linear dynamic range of 156 dB under 850 nm illumination. Moreover, the device retains over 85% of its initial photocurrent after 60 days in ambient air and maintains 94% of its initial photocurrent after 1000 bending cycles. This work establishes an effective strategy for stabilizing Sn-based perovskites toward high-performance flexible optoelectronic devices.

Multi-period railway line planning for integrated passenger-freight transportation

This paper addresses a multi-period line planning problem in an integrated passenger-freight railway system, aiming to maximize profit while serving passengers and freight using a combination of dedicated passenger trains, dedicated freight trains, and mixed trains. To accommodate demand with different time sensitivities, we develop a period-extended change&go-network that tracks the paths taken by passengers and freight. The problem is formulated as a path-based mixed integer programming model, with the linear relaxation solved using column generation. Paths for passengers and freight are dynamically generated by solving pricing problems defined as elementary shortest-path problems with duration constraints. We propose two heuristic approaches: price-and-branch and a diving heuristic, with acceleration strategies, to find integer feasible solutions efficiently. Computational experiments on the Chinese high-speed railway network demonstrate that the diving heuristic outperforms the price-and-branch heuristic in both computational time and solution quality. Additionally, the experiments highlight the benefits of integrating freight, the advantages of multi-period line planning, and the impact of different demand patterns on line operations.

Integrative Pan-Cancer Analysis of RNMT: a Potential Prognostic and Immunological Biomarker

Background: RNA guanine-7 methyltransferase (RNMT) is one of the main regulators of N7-methylguanosine, and the deregulation of RNMT correlated with tumor development and immune metabolism. However, the specific function of RNMT in pan-cancer remains unclear. Methods: RNMT expression in different cancers was analyzed using multiple databases, including Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE), Genotype-Tissue Expression Project (GTEx), and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Cox regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier analysis were used to estimate the correlation of RNMT expression to prognosis. The data was also used to research the relationship between RNMT expression and common immunoregulators, tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), mismatch repair (MMR), and DNA methyltransferase (DNMT). Additionally, the cBioPortal website was used to evaluate the characteristics of RNMT alteration. The TISDB database was used to obtain the expression of different subtypes. The Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER) database was used to analyze the association between RNMT and tumor immune infiltration. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to identify the relevant pathways. Results: RNMT was ubiquitously highly expressed across cancers and survival analysis revealed that its expression was highly associated with the clinical prognosis of various cancer types. Remarkably, RNMT participates in immune regulation and plays a crucial part in the tumor microenvironment. A positive association was found between RNMT expression and six immune cell types expression in colon adenocarcinoma, kidney renal clear cell carcinoma, and liver hepatocellular carcinoma. Moreover, RNMT expression was highly associated with immunoregulators in most cancer types, and correlated to TMB, MSI, MMR, and DNMT. Finally, GSEA indicated that RNMT may correlate with tumor immunity.
