Minkowski Space Dynamics and Light-Front Projection

We explore the connection between the four-dimensional Minkowski-space Bethe-Salpeter equation and its light-front projection, emphasizing the implications for bound-state dynamics. Our approach incorporates dressed particles, such as quarks, via the integral representation of the corresponding propagator. We analyze the light-front dynamics of the valence component of the physical state using a hierarchical set of Green's functions, which reveals its coupling to higher Fock components when dressed particles are considered. We also present the light-front Faddeev-Bethe-Salpeter equations for three-body systems with dressed constituents. Furthermore, we discuss formal developments that are central to connecting the three-dimensional light-front dynamics onto the null-plane and the four-dimensional Minkowski-space framework, based on the Nakanishi integral representation. Selected applications to hadron structure are also reviewed.

A dynamical holographic QCD model for spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and confinement

In this paper, we present a holographic realization of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and confinement. The latter is realized by building a solution of 5d Einstein-dilaton gravity leading to a confining quark antiquark potential. The 4d currents and the quark mass operator associated with chiral symmetry breaking and creation of meson states are mapped to 5d fields whose dynamics is given by a non-Abelian Higgs action. We introduce a non-minimal dilaton coupling to the tachyon potential which has two parameters, one of them controlling the presence or absence of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and the other controlling the sign of the chiral condensate as the quark mass grows. We calculate the masses of vector, scalar, axial-vector and pseudoscalar mesons, focusing on the effect of chiral symmetry breaking on the spectrum. In the chiral limit we identify the emergence of a massless state in the pseudoscalar meson spectrum, i.e., the pion. We calculate all meson decay constants and confirm that the pion satisfies the Gell-Mann-Oakes relation in the light quark regime.

Dynamical mass generation in Minkowski space at QCD scale

We undertake the challenging task to reveal the properties of dressed light-quarks in the space- and time-like regions. For that aim, we solved the Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) in Minkowski space for the quark propagator in a QCD inspired model, focusing on the realization of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB) in the large coupling regime. The DSE is considered in the quenched approximation within the rainbow-ladder truncation with a massive gluon and a Pauli-Villars term, which is used to tune the infrared (IR) physics of the model. The solution of the DSE in Minkowski space is performed by resorting to the integral representation of the quark self-energy and propagator, which leads to a coupled set of closed self-consistent equations for the spectral densities, taking into account finite on-mass-shell renormalization. The parameters of the model are chosen such that the gluon mass scale is consistent with recent lattice QCD (LQCD) calculations, the Pauli-Villars mass is lowered down to about 1 GeV to concentrate strength in the infrared momentum region, and the coupling constant and renormalized mass are tuned to reproduce LQCD results for the quark mass function in the Landau gauge. Future application to study the pion consistently with DCSB within the Bethe-Salpeter framework with self-energies in Minkowski space is also delineated.

Hamiltonian analysis and positivity of a new massive spin-2 model

Recently a new model has been proposed to describe free massive spin-2 particles in $D$ dimensions in terms of a non symmetric rank-2 tensor $e_{μν}$ and a mixed symmetry tensor $B^{μ[αβ]}$. The model is invariant under linearized diffeomorphisms without Stueckelberg fields. It resembles a spin-2 version of the topologically massive spin-1 BF model (Cremmer-Scherk model). Here we apply the Dirac-Bergmann procedure in order to identify all Hamiltonian constraints and perform a complete counting of degrees of freedom. In $D=3+1$ we find 5 degrees of freedom corresponding to helicities $\pm{2}$, $\pm{1}$, $0$ as expected. The positivity of the reduced Hamiltonian is proved by using spin projection operators. We have also proposed a parent action that establishes the duality between the Fierz-Pauli and the new model. The equivalence between gauge invariant correlation functions of both theories is demonstrated.

Pion electromagnetic form factor with Minkowskian dynamics

The pion electromagnetic form factor has been calculated for the first time from the solutions of the Bethe-Salpeter equation, obtained directly in Minkowski space by using the Nakanishi integral representation of the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude. The one-gluon exchange kernel contains as inputs the quark and gluon masses, as well as a scale parameter featuring the extended quark-gluon vertex. The range of variability of these parameters is suggested by lattice calculations. After presenting a very successful comparison with the existing data in the whole range of the momentum transfer, we show how inserting the light-front (LF) formalism in our approach allows to achieve further interesting results, like the evaluation of the LF valence form factor and a first investigation of the end-points effects.

The soft-gluon limit and the infrared enhancement of the quark-gluon vertex

The Schwinger-Dyson quark equation (SDE) combined with results from lattice simulation for the propagators are used to obtain information on the quark-gluon vertex, taking into account the recent full QCD lattice results for the soft-gluon limit. Its inclusion leads to a clear enhancement of the infrared quark-gluon vertex. We also find that the relative contribution of the quark-ghost kernel to the quark-gluon vertex in the infrared region does not follow the rules from the perturbative analysis of the ultraviolet region. This shows that for QCD the intuition based on perturbation theory does not apply to the full momentum range. The framework developed in the current work provides analytical expressions for all the longitudinal components of vertex taken into account.

Minkowski-space solutions of the Schwinger-Dyson equation for the fermion propagator with the rainbow-ladder truncation

We solve the Minkowski-space Schwinger-Dyson equation (SDE) for the fermion propagator in quantum electrodynamics (QED) with massive photons. Specifically, we work in the quenched approximation within the rainbow-ladder truncation. Loop-divergences are regularized by the Pauli-Villars regularization. With moderately strong fermion-photon coupling, we find that the analytic structure of the fermion propagator consists of an on-shell pole and branch-cuts located in the timelike region. Such structures are consistent with the direct solution of the fermion propagator as functions of the complex momentum. Our method paves the way towards the calculation of the Minkowski-space Bethe-Salpeter amplitude using dressed fermion propagator.

Towards Minkowski space solutions of Dyson-Schwinger Equations through un-Wick rotation

The fermion self-energy is calculated from the rainbow-ladder truncation of the Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) in quantum electrodynamics (QED) for spacelike momenta and in the complex momentum plane close to the timelike region, both using Pauli-Villars regularization. Specifically, the DSE is solved in the complex momentum plane by rotating either the energy component of the four-momentum or the magnitude of Euclidean four-momentum to reach the timelike region in Minkowski space. The coupling constant is appropriately chosen to ensure the singularities of the fermion propagator are located in the timelike region while producing significant differences from the perturbative solutions. For simplicity, we choose Feynman gauge, but the method is applicable in other covariant gauges as well. We demonstrate that the approximate spectral representation based on the fermion self-energy near the timelike region is consistent with the solution of the DSE directly in the Euclidean space.

In-Medium $K^+$ Electromagnetic Form Factor with a Symmetric Vertex in a Light Front Approach

Using the light-front kaon wave function based on a Bethe-Salpeter amplitude model for the quark-antiquark bound state, we study the Electromagnetic Form Factor (EMFF) of the kaon in nuclear medium within the framework of light-front field theory. The kaon model we adopt is well constrained by previous and recent studies to explain its properties in vacuum. The in-medium kaon EMFF is evaluated for the + component of the electromagnetic current, $J^+$, in the Breit frame. In order to consistently incorporate the constituent up and antistrange quarks of the kaon immersed in symmetric nuclear matter, we use the Quark-Meson Coupling (QMC) model, which has been widely applied to various hadronic and nuclear phenomena in a nuclear medium with success. We predict the in-medium modification of the kaon EMFF in symmetric nuclear matter. It is found that, after a fine tuning of the regulator mass, i.e. $m_R = 0.600$ GeV, the model is suitable to fit the available experimental data in vaccum within the theoretical uncertainties, and based on this we predict the in-medium modification of the EMFF.

Motivations for AdS/QCD from 10D supergravity solutions

We discuss some attempts for the construction of gravity duals of QCD-like theories. It is analysed some properties of solutions of 10D Type IIB supergravity theory that attempt to be dual to $\mathcal{N}$=1 gauge theories, in particular the solutions that belong to Papadoulos-Tseytlin ansatz. We argue that one could obtain 5D effective theories from 10d solutions and it motivates the use of phenomenological AdS/QCD models.

Two-fermion Bethe-Salpeter Equation in Minkowski Space: the Nakanishi Way

The possibility of solving the Bethe-Salpeter Equation in Minkowski space, even for fermionic systems, is becoming actual, through the applications of well-known tools: i) the Nakanishi integral representation of the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude and ii) the light-front projection onto the null-plane. The theoretical background and some preliminary calculations are illustrated, in order to show the potentiality and the wide range of application of the method.

On Exact Symmetries and Massless Vectors in Holographic Flows and other Flux Vacua

We analyze the isometries of Type IIB flux vacua based on the Papadopolous-Tseytlin ansatz and identify the related massless bulk vector fields. To this end we devise a general ansatz, valid in any flux compactification, for the fluctuations of the metric and p-forms that diagonalizes the coupled equations. We then illustrate the procedure in the simple case of holographic flows driven by the RR 3-form flux only. Specifically we study the fate of the isometries of the Maldacena-Nunez solution associated to wrapped D5-branes.
