Camera Measurement of Blood Oxygen Saturation

Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) is a crucial vital sign routinely monitored in medical settings. Traditional methods require dedicated contact sensors, limiting accessibility and comfort. This study presents a deep learning framework for contactless SpO2 measurement using an off-the-shelf camera, addressing challenges related to lighting variations and skin tone diversity. We conducted two large-scale studies with diverse participants and evaluated our method against traditional signal processing approaches in intra- and inter-dataset scenarios. Our approach demonstrated consistent accuracy across demographic groups, highlighting the feasibility of camera-based SpO2 monitoring as a scalable and non-invasive tool for remote health assessment.

CBQ: Cross-Block Quantization for Large Language Models

Post-training quantization (PTQ) has played a key role in compressing large language models (LLMs) with ultra-low costs. However, existing PTQ methods only focus on handling the outliers within one layer or one block, which ignores the dependency of blocks and leads to severe performance degradation in low-bit settings. In this paper, we propose CBQ, a cross-block reconstruction-based PTQ method for LLMs. CBQ employs a cross-block dependency using a homologous reconstruction scheme, establishing long-range dependencies across multiple blocks to minimize error accumulation. Furthermore, CBQ incorporates a coarse-to-fine preprocessing (CFP) strategy for suppressing weight and activation outliers, coupled with an adaptive LoRA-Rounding technique for precise weight quantization. These innovations enable CBQ to not only handle extreme outliers effectively but also improve overall quantization accuracy. Extensive experiments show that CBQ achieves superior low-bit quantization (W4A4, W4A8, W2A16) and outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods across various LLMs and datasets. Notably, CBQ quantizes the 4-bit LLAMA1-65B model within only 4.3 hours on a single GPU, achieving a commendable tradeoff between performance and quantization efficiency.

Delta Decompression for MoE-based LLMs Compression

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures in large language models (LLMs) achieve exceptional performance, but face prohibitive storage and memory requirements. To address these challenges, we present $D^2$-MoE, a new delta decompression compressor for reducing the parameters of MoE LLMs. Based on observations of expert diversity, we decompose their weights into a shared base weight and unique delta weights. Specifically, our method first merges each expert's weight into the base weight using the Fisher information matrix to capture shared components. Then, we compress delta weights through Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) by exploiting their low-rank properties. Finally, we introduce a semi-dynamical structured pruning strategy for the base weights, combining static and dynamic redundancy analysis to achieve further parameter reduction while maintaining input adaptivity. In this way, our $D^2$-MoE successfully compact MoE LLMs to high compression ratios without additional training. Extensive experiments highlight the superiority of our approach, with over 13% performance gains than other compressors on Mixtral|Phi-3.5|DeepSeek|Qwen2 MoE LLMs at 40$\sim$60% compression rates. DeepInteraction++: Multi-Modality Interaction for Autonomous Driving

Existing top-performance autonomous driving systems typically rely on the multi-modal fusion strategy for reliable scene understanding. This design is however fundamentally restricted due to overlooking the modality-specific strengths and finally hampering the model performance. To address this limitation, in this work, we introduce a novel modality interaction strategy that allows individual per-modality representations to be learned and maintained throughout, enabling their unique characteristics to be exploited during the whole perception pipeline. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, we design DeepInteraction++, a multi-modal interaction framework characterized by a multi-modal representational interaction encoder and a multi-modal predictive interaction decoder. Specifically, the encoder is implemented as a dual-stream Transformer with specialized attention operation for information exchange and integration between separate modality-specific representations. Our multi-modal representational learning incorporates both object-centric, precise sampling-based feature alignment and global dense information spreading, essential for the more challenging planning task. The decoder is designed to iteratively refine the predictions by alternately aggregating information from separate representations in a unified modality-agnostic manner, realizing multi-modal predictive interaction. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed framework on both 3D object detection and end-to-end autonomous driving tasks. Our code is available at https://github.com/fudan-zvg/DeepInteraction.

Integrated Sensing and Communication for 6G Holographic Digital Twins

With the advent of 6G networks, offering ultra-high bandwidth and ultra-low latency, coupled with the enhancement of terminal device resolutions, holographic communication is gradually becoming a reality. Holographic digital twin (HDT) is considered one of key applications of holographic communication, capable of creating virtual replicas for real-time mapping and prediction of physical entity states, and performing three-dimensional reproduction of spatial information. In this context, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is expected to be a crucial pathway for providing data sources to HDT. This paper proposes a four-layer architecture assisted by ISAC for HDT, integrating emerging paradigms and key technologies to achieve low-cost, high-precision environmental data collection for constructing HDT. Specifically, to enhance sensing resolution, we explore super-resolution techniques from the perspectives of parameter estimation and point cloud construction. Additionally, we focus on multi-point collaborative sensing for constructing HDT, and provide a comprehensive review of four key techniques: node selection, multi-band collaboration, cooperative beamforming, and data fusion. Finally, we highlight several interesting research directions to guide and inspire future work.

Interfacial superconductivity and a Se-vacancy ordered insulating phase in the FeSe/PbOx heterostructures

The discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in FeSe/SrTiO3 has sparked significant interests in exploring new superconducting systems with engineered interfaces. Here, using molecular beam epitaxy growth, we successfully fabricate FeSe/PbOx heterostructures and discover superconductivities in three different monolayer FeSe-related interfaces. We observe superconducting gaps of 13~14 meV in the monolayer FeSe films grown on two different phases of PbOx. Moreover, we discover a new insulating Fe10Se9 phase with an ordered $\sqrt{5}\times\sqrt{5}$ Se-vacancy structure. Our first-principles calculation suggests that this new insulating phase originates from electronic correlation. Intriguingly, an additional monolayer FeSe film grown on the insulating Fe10Se9 also exhibits superconductivity with the gap size of 5 meV. Our results suggest that the work function differences between the monolayer FeSe and the substrates, which can induce band bending and charge transfer, are crucial for the interfacial superconductivity.

CoPEFT: Fast Adaptation Framework for Multi-Agent Collaborative Perception with Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning

Multi-agent collaborative perception is expected to significantly improve perception performance by overcoming the limitations of single-agent perception through exchanging complementary information. However, training a robust collaborative perception model requires collecting sufficient training data that covers all possible collaboration scenarios, which is impractical due to intolerable deployment costs. Hence, the trained model is not robust against new traffic scenarios with inconsistent data distribution and fundamentally restricts its real-world applicability. Further, existing methods, such as domain adaptation, have mitigated this issue by exposing the deployment data during the training stage but incur a high training cost, which is infeasible for resource-constrained agents. In this paper, we propose a Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning-based lightweight framework, CoPEFT, for fast adapting a trained collaborative perception model to new deployment environments under low-cost conditions. CoPEFT develops a Collaboration Adapter and Agent Prompt to perform macro-level and micro-level adaptations separately. Specifically, the Collaboration Adapter utilizes the inherent knowledge from training data and limited deployment data to adapt the feature map to new data distribution. The Agent Prompt further enhances the Collaboration Adapter by inserting fine-grained contextual information about the environment. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our CoPEFT surpasses existing methods with less than 1\% trainable parameters, proving the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed method.

Structural phase transitions between layered Indium Selenide for inte-grated photonic memory

The primary mechanism of optical memristive devices relies on the phase transitions between amorphous-crystalline states. The slow or energy hungry amorphous-crystalline transitions in optical phase-change materials are detrimental to the devices scalability and performance. Leveraging the integrated photonic platform, we demonstrate a single nanosecond pulse triggered nonvolatile and reversible switching between two layered structures of indium selenide (In2Se3). High resolution pair distribution function reveals the detailed atomistic transition pathways between the layered structures. With inter-layer shear glide and isosymmetric phase transition, the switching between alpha and beta structural states contain low re-configurational entropy, allowing reversible switching between layered structures. Broadband refractive index contrast, optical transparency, and volumetric effect in the crystalline-crystalline phase transition are experimentally characterized in molecular beam epitaxy-grown thin films and compared to ab initials calculations. The nonlinear resonator transmission spectra measure an incremental linear loss rate of 3.3 GHz introduced by 1.5 micrometer long In2Se3 covered lay-er, resulting from the combinations of material absorption and scattering.

Phonon vibrational and transport properties of SnSe/SnS superlattice at finite temperatures

The structural stability and phonon properties of SnSe/SnS superlattices at finite temperatures have been studied using machine learning force field molecular dynamics and the anharmonic phonon approach. The vertical SnSe/SnS superlattice undergoes a phase transition from the Pnma phase to a novel P4/nmm phase at finite temperatures, which is different from the high-temperature Cmcm phase of the SnSe and SnS systems. The stability of P4/nmm phase is determined by molecular dynamics trajectories and anharmonic phonon dispersion relations. The imaginary modes of TO modes at the q=M(1/2,1/2,0) point of the P4/nmm phase in harmonic approximation become rigid at elevated temperatures. An analysis of phonon power spectra upon temperature also confirms the dynamic stabilization. The P4/nmm phase has higher symmetry than the Pnma phase, and the phase transition between them is accompanied by competition between the Jahn-Teller effect and phonon anharmonicity. Unlike the anisotropic distribution of Sn-Se/S bonds in the Pnma phase, the P4/nmm phase forms chemical bonds with similar bond lengths both in-plane and interlayer, and their resonance effect can significantly enhance phonon scattering. The calculated phonon density of states and lifetime is strongly temperature dependent, demonstrating the heavy anharmonicity in the SnSe/SnS system. The P4/nmm phase has an extremely low lattice thermal conductivity, close to the experimental values of SnSe and SnS. Moreover, with the reduction of band gap and the enhancement of band degeneracy near the Fermi level, the P4/nmm phase exhibits superior electronic transport properties and significantly enhanced response to infrared and visible light. This makes it show great potential in thermoelectric and photovoltaic applications.

Explanation based In-Context Demonstrations Retrieval for Multilingual Grammatical Error Correction

Grammatical error correction (GEC) aims to correct grammatical, spelling, and semantic errors in natural language text. With the growing of large language models (LLMs), direct text generation has gradually become the focus of the GEC methods, and few-shot in-context learning presents a cost-effective solution. However, selecting effective in-context examples remains challenging, as the similarity between input texts does not necessarily correspond to similar grammatical error patterns. In this paper, we propose a novel retrieval method based on natural language grammatical error explanations (GEE) to address this issue. Our method retrieves suitable few-shot demonstrations by matching the GEE of the test input with that of pre-constructed database samples, where explanations for erroneous samples are generated by LLMs. We conducted multilingual GEC few-shot experiments on both major open-source and closed-source LLMs. Experiments across five languages show that our method outperforms existing semantic and BM25-based retrieval techniques, without requiring additional training or language adaptation. This also suggests that matching error patterns is key to selecting examples.

CoS: Chain-of-Shot Prompting for Long Video Understanding

Multi-modal Large Language Models (MLLMs) struggle with long videos due to the need for excessive visual tokens. These tokens exceed massively the context length of MLLMs, resulting in filled by redundant task-irrelevant shots. How to select shots is an unsolved critical problem: sparse sampling risks missing key details, while exhaustive sampling overwhelms the model with irrelevant content, leading to video misunderstanding. To solve this problem, we propose Chain-of-Shot prompting (CoS). The key idea is to frame shot selection as test-time visual prompt optimisation, choosing shots adaptive to video understanding semantic task by optimising shots-task alignment. CoS has two key parts: (1) a binary video summary mechanism that performs pseudo temporal grounding, discovering a binary coding to identify task-relevant shots, and (2) a video co-reasoning module that deploys the binary coding to pair (learning to align) task-relevant positive shots with irrelevant negative shots. It embeds the optimised shot selections into the original video, facilitating a focus on relevant context to optimize long video understanding. Experiments across three baselines and five datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and adaptability of CoS. Code given in https://lwpyh.github.io/CoS.

Generalizable Implicit Motion Modeling for Video Frame Interpolation

Motion modeling is critical in flow-based Video Frame Interpolation (VFI). Existing paradigms either consider linear combinations of bidirectional flows or directly predict bilateral flows for given timestamps without exploring favorable motion priors, thus lacking the capability of effectively modeling spatiotemporal dynamics in real-world videos. To address this limitation, in this study, we introduce Generalizable Implicit Motion Modeling (GIMM), a novel and effective approach to motion modeling for VFI. Specifically, to enable GIMM as an effective motion modeling paradigm, we design a motion encoding pipeline to model spatiotemporal motion latent from bidirectional flows extracted from pre-trained flow estimators, effectively representing input-specific motion priors. Then, we implicitly predict arbitrary-timestep optical flows within two adjacent input frames via an adaptive coordinate-based neural network, with spatiotemporal coordinates and motion latent as inputs. Our GIMM can be easily integrated with existing flow-based VFI works by supplying accurately modeled motion. We show that GIMM performs better than the current state of the art on standard VFI benchmarks.

A Preview of XiYan-SQL: A Multi-Generator Ensemble Framework for Text-to-SQL

To tackle the challenges of large language model performance in natural language to SQL tasks, we introduce XiYan-SQL, an innovative framework that employs a multi-generator ensemble strategy to improve candidate generation. We introduce M-Schema, a semi-structured schema representation method designed to enhance the understanding of database structures. To enhance the quality and diversity of generated candidate SQL queries, XiYan-SQL integrates the significant potential of in-context learning (ICL) with the precise control of supervised fine-tuning. On one hand, we propose a series of training strategies to fine-tune models to generate high-quality candidates with diverse preferences. On the other hand, we implement the ICL approach with an example selection method based on named entity recognition to prevent overemphasis on entities. The refiner optimizes each candidate by correcting logical or syntactical errors. To address the challenge of identifying the best candidate, we fine-tune a selection model to distinguish nuances of candidate SQL queries. The experimental results on multiple dialect datasets demonstrate the robustness of XiYan-SQL in addressing challenges across different scenarios. Overall, our proposed XiYan-SQL achieves the state-of-the-art execution accuracy of 75.63% on Bird benchmark, 89.65% on the Spider test set, 69.86% on SQL-Eval, 41.20% on NL2GQL. The proposed framework not only enhances the quality and diversity of SQL queries but also outperforms previous methods.

Dark I-Love-Q

For neutron stars, there exist universal relations insensitive to the equation of states, the so called I-Love-Q relations, which show the connections among the moment of inertia, tidal Love number and quadrupole moment. In this paper, we show that these relations also apply to dark stars, bosonic or fermionic. The relations can be extended to higher ranges of the variables, clarifying the deviations for dark stars in the literature, as those curves all approximate the ones generated by a polytropic equation of state, when taking the low density (pressure) limit. Besides, we find that for equation of states with scaling symmetries, the I-Love-Q curves do not change when adjusting the scaling parameters.

O1-Pruner: Length-Harmonizing Fine-Tuning for O1-Like Reasoning Pruning

Recently, long-thought reasoning LLMs, such as OpenAI's O1, adopt extended reasoning processes similar to how humans ponder over complex problems. This reasoning paradigm significantly enhances the model's problem-solving abilities and has achieved promising results. However, long-thought reasoning process leads to a substantial increase in inference time. A pressing challenge is reducing the inference overhead of long-thought LLMs while ensuring accuracy. In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate that long-thought reasoning models struggle to effectively allocate token budgets based on problem difficulty and reasoning redundancies. To address this, we propose Length-Harmonizing Fine-Tuning (O1-Pruner), aiming at minimizing reasoning overhead while maintaining accuracy. This effective fine-tuning method first estimates the LLM's baseline performance through pre-sampling and then uses RL-style fine-tuning to encourage the model to generate shorter reasoning processes under accuracy constraints. This allows the model to achieve efficient reasoning with lower redundancy while maintaining accuracy. Experiments on various mathematical reasoning benchmarks show that O1-Pruner not only significantly reduces inference overhead but also achieves higher accuracy, providing a novel and promising solution to this challenge. Our code is coming soon at https://github.com/StarDewXXX/O1-Pruner

Adaptive Finite Element Interpolated Neural Networks

The use of neural networks to approximate partial differential equations (PDEs) has gained significant attention in recent years. However, the approximation of PDEs with localised phenomena, e.g., sharp gradients and singularities, remains a challenge, due to ill-defined cost functions in terms of pointwise residual sampling or poor numerical integration. In this work, we introduce $h$-adaptive finite element interpolated neural networks. The method relies on the interpolation of a neural network onto a finite element space that is gradually adapted to the solution during the training process to equidistribute a posteriori error indicator. The use of adaptive interpolation is essential in preserving the non-linear approximation capabilities of the neural networks to effectively tackle problems with localised features. The training relies on a gradient-based optimisation of a loss function based on the (dual) norm of the finite element residual of the interpolated neural network. Automatic mesh adaptation (i.e., refinement and coarsening) is performed based on a posteriori error indicators till a certain level of accuracy is reached. The proposed methodology can be applied to indefinite and nonsymmetric problems. We carry out a detailed numerical analysis of the scheme and prove several a priori error estimates, depending on the expressiveness of the neural network compared to the interpolation mesh. Our numerical experiments confirm the effectiveness of the method in capturing sharp gradients and singularities for forward and inverse PDE problems, both in 2D and 3D scenarios. We also show that the proposed preconditioning strategy (i.e., using a dual residual norm of the residual as a cost function) enhances training robustness and accelerates convergence.
