The electroweak precision constraints of the 2HDM+S

The 2HDM+S is the singlet extension of the Two-Higgs-Doublets Model (2HDM). The singlet field and its mixing with the 2HDM Higgs sector lead to new contributions to the electroweak precision observables, in particular, the oblique parameters. In this paper, we identify five benchmark cases, where at most one mixing angle is nonzero and analyze the 95% C.L. allowed parameter space by the oblique parameters. In the alignment limit of the 2HDM, we find that other than the usual mass relations of $m_H\sim m_{H^\pm}$ or $m_A\sim m_{H^\pm}$, electroweak precision measurements also impose an upper limit on the neutral Higgs masses. In the cases with nonzero singlet mixing with the 2HDM Higgses $H$ or $A$, we find approximate mass relations of $c^2_{α_{HS}} m_{H} + s^2_{α_{HS}}m_{h_S} = m_{H^\pm}$ or $c^2_{α_{AS}} m_{A} + s^2_{α_{AS}}m_{A_S} = m_{H^\pm}$. Those relations are universal to the 2HDM+S models, with or without further symmetry assumption. We also study the non-alignment limit of the 2HDM+S, which typically has tighter constraints on the masses and mixing angles. At the end, we examine the complementarity between the electroweak precision analyses and the Higgs coupling precision measurements.

Properties of Quasi-synchronization Time of High-dimensional Hegselmann-Krause Dynamics

The behavior of one-dimensional Hegselmann-Krause (HK) dynamics driven by noise has been extensively studied. Previous research has indicated that within no matter the bounded or the unbounded space of one dimension, the HK dynamics attain quasi-synchronization (synchronization in noisy case) in finite time. However, it remains unclear whether this phenomenon holds in high-dimensional space. This paper investigates the random time for quasi-synchronization of multi-dimensional HK model and reveals that the boundedness and dimensions of the space determine different outcomes. To be specific, if the space is bounded, quasi-synchronization can be attained almost surely for all dimensions within a finite time, whereas in unbounded space, quasi-synchronization can only be achieved in low-dimensional cases (one and two). Furthermore, different integrability of the random time of various cases is proved.

Memory-Driven Bounded Confidence Opinion Dynamics: A Hegselmann-Krause Model Based on Fractional-Order Methods

Memory effects play a crucial role in social interactions and decision-making processes. This paper proposes a novel fractional-order bounded confidence opinion dynamics model to characterize the memory effects in system states. Building upon the Hegselmann-Krause framework and fractional-order difference, a comprehensive model is established that captures the persistent influence of historical information. Through rigorous theoretical analysis, the fundamental properties including convergence and consensus is investigated. The results demonstrate that the proposed model not only maintains favorable convergence and consensus characteristics compared to classical opinion dynamics, but also addresses limitations such as the monotonicity of bounded opinions. This enables a more realistic representation of opinion evolution in real-world scenarios. The findings of this study provide new insights and methodological approaches for understanding opinion formation and evolution, offering both theoretical significance and practical applications.

TransBench: Breaking Barriers for Transferable Graphical User Interface Agents in Dynamic Digital Environments

Graphical User Interface (GUI) agents, which autonomously operate on digital interfaces through natural language instructions, hold transformative potential for accessibility, automation, and user experience. A critical aspect of their functionality is grounding - the ability to map linguistic intents to visual and structural interface elements. However, existing GUI agents often struggle to adapt to the dynamic and interconnected nature of real-world digital environments, where tasks frequently span multiple platforms and applications while also being impacted by version updates. To address this, we introduce TransBench, the first benchmark designed to systematically evaluate and enhance the transferability of GUI agents across three key dimensions: cross-version transferability (adapting to version updates), cross-platform transferability (generalizing across platforms like iOS, Android, and Web), and cross-application transferability (handling tasks spanning functionally distinct apps). TransBench includes 15 app categories with diverse functionalities, capturing essential pages across versions and platforms to enable robust evaluation. Our experiments demonstrate significant improvements in grounding accuracy, showcasing the practical utility of GUI agents in dynamic, real-world environments. Our code and data will be publicly available at GitHub.

Reduced-Order Solution for Rarefied Gas Flow by Proper Generalised Decomposition

Modelling rarefied gas flow via the Boltzmann equation plays a vital role in many areas. Due to the high dimensionality of this kinetic equation and the coexistence of multiple characteristic scales in the transport processes, conventional solution strategies incur prohibitively high computational costs and are inadequate for rapid response for parametric analysis and optimisation loops in engineering design simulations. This paper proposes an \textit{a priori} reduced-order method based on the proper generalised decomposition to solve the high-dimensional, parametrised Shakhov kinetic model equation. This method reduces the original problem into a few low-dimensional problem by formulating separated representations for the low-rank solution, as well as data and operators in the equation, thereby overcoming the curse of dimensionality. Furthermore, a general solution can be calculated once and for all in the whole range of the rarefaction parameter, enabling fast and multiple queries to a specific solution at any point in the parameter space. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the capability of the method to simulate rarefied gas flow with high accuracy and significant reduction in CPU time and memory requirements.

Noise-driven Synchronization of Vicsek Model in Mean

The Vicsek model has long stood as a pivotal framework in exploring collective behavior and self-organization, captivating the scientific community with its compelling dynamics. However, understanding how noise influences synchronization within this model and its associated phase transition characteristics has presented significant challenges. While numerous studies have focused on simulations due to the model's mathematical complexity, comprehensive theoretical analyses remain sparse. In this paper, we deliver a rigorous mathematical proof demonstrating that for any initial configuration of the Vicsek model, there exists a bound on noise amplitude such that if the noise amplitude is maintained within this bound, the system will achieve synchronization in mean. This finding not only lays a solid mathematical groundwork for the Vicsek model's phase transition theory but also underscores the critical role of noise in collective dynamics, enhancing our understanding of self-organizing systems in stochastic environments.

Spin-charge Kondo effect for a quantum dot with side coupled Majorana zero mode

We investigate a minimal system consisting of a quantum dot coupled to a Majorana zero mode and a normal lead. We identify the underlying screening process as a novel spin-charge Kondo effect, where the low-energy spin and charge degrees of freedom of the Majorana zero mode-quantum dot subsystem are fully screened by those in the normal lead, resulting in the formation of a spin-charge singlet. An effective low-energy model is derived, with charge fluctuations appropriately accounted for. This spin-charge Kondo effect is found to be consistent with the spin-dependent Andreev/normal boundary conditions induced by the Majorana zero mode. We demonstrate that the anomalous substructure in the spectrum and thermodynamic properties is closely tied to the proportion of the charge component in the screening cloud. The spin-charge screening cloud exhibits scaling behavior analogous to that of traditional Kondo systems, though the sub-leading even-odd effect is subtly modified by the boundary conditions. These findings enhance our understanding of Kondo physics and resolve key debates on quantum dot nanostructures with Majorana zero modes.

Progress of the TianQin project

TianQin is a future space-based gravitational wave observatory targeting the frequency window of $10^{-4}$ Hz $\sim 1$ Hz. A large variety of gravitational wave sources are expected in this frequency band, including the merger of massive black hole binaries, the inspiral of extreme/intermediate mass ratio systems, stellar-mass black hole binaries, Galactic compact binaries, and so on. TianQin will consist of three Earth orbiting satellites on nearly identical orbits with orbital radii of about $10^5$ km. The satellites will form a normal triangle constellation whose plane is nearly perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. The TianQin project has been progressing smoothly following the ``0123" technology roadmap. In step ``0", the TianQin laser ranging station has been constructed and it has successfully ranged to all the five retro-reflectors on the Moon. In step ``1", the drag-free control technology has been tested and demonstrated using the TianQin-1 satellite. In step ``2", the inter-satellite laser interferometry technology will be tested using the pair of TianQin-2 satellites. The TianQin-2 mission has been officially approved and the satellites will be launched around 2026. In step ``3", i.e., the TianQin-3 mission, three identical satellites will be launched around 2035 to form the space-based gravitational wave detector, TianQin, and to start gravitational wave detection in space.

ReFF: Reinforcing Format Faithfulness in Language Models across Varied Tasks

Following formatting instructions to generate well-structured content is a fundamental yet often unmet capability for large language models (LLMs). To study this capability, which we refer to as format faithfulness, we present FormatBench, a comprehensive format-related benchmark. Compared to previous format-related benchmarks, FormatBench involves a greater variety of tasks in terms of application scenes (traditional NLP tasks, creative works, autonomous agency tasks), human-LLM interaction styles (single-turn instruction, multi-turn chat), and format types (inclusion, wrapping, length, coding). Moreover, each task in FormatBench is attached with a format checker program. Extensive experiments on the benchmark reveal that state-of-the-art open- and closed-source LLMs still suffer from severe deficiency in format faithfulness. By virtue of the decidable nature of formats, we propose to Reinforce Format Faithfulness (ReFF) to help LLMs generate formatted output as instructed without compromising general quality. Without any annotated data, ReFF can substantially improve the format faithfulness rate (e.g., from 21.6% in original LLaMA3 to 95.0% on caption segmentation task), while keep the general quality comparable (e.g., from 47.3 to 46.4 in F1 scores). Combined with labeled training data, ReFF can simultaneously improve both format faithfulness (e.g., from 21.6% in original LLaMA3 to 75.5%) and general quality (e.g., from 47.3 to 61.6 in F1 scores). We further offer an interpretability analysis to explain how ReFF improves both format faithfulness and general quality.

Charged Higgs Search in 2HDM

In this paper, we present a comprehensive study of the collider search limits on the charged Higgses in the four types of Two Higgs Double Models (2HDM). In addition to constraints from flavor physics measurements, we include both the LEP charged Higgs search channels, as well as the LHC search results on the light and heavy charged Higgses. We consider both the conventional charged Higgs search channels of $H^\pm \rightarrow τν, cs, cb, tb$, and the latest search results on the exotic decay channels $H^\pm \rightarrow A W^\pm / H W^\pm$. We find that $H^\pm \rightarrow A W^\pm / H W^\pm$ are complementary to the conventional fermionic channels for $m_{H^\pm} < m_t$. For heavy $H^\pm$, $H^\pm \rightarrow A W^\pm / H W^\pm$ extend the reach of $\tan β$ beyond that of $H^\pm \to tb$ in the Type-L 2HDM. We also present the combined reach of all the neutral and charged Higgs searches.

Numerical studies on steady interaction of low enthalpy hypersonic double wedge flows using different gas models

Numerical investigations and analyses are carried out particularly on the steady interactions of low enthalpy hypersonic 30-55-deg double wedge configuration at conditions similar to the experimental setup by Swantek & Austin. To achieve a steady solution, Re lower than those in the experiment are used. Three gas models, i.e., the perfect, equilibrium, and non-equilibrium gas models, are used to analyze the difference potentials that arise from the physical model. Grid convergence studies are first conducted at Ma=7 and Re=2.5e5/m. Subsequently, comprehensive numerical studies are carried out on the steady interactions and their evolution at Ma=7 and h0=2.1MJ/kg. Specifically: (a) The upper limits of Re are identified where the flows remain steady, and the corresponding interaction characteristics as well as differences in the three gas models are investigated. Notably, a quasi-normal shock wave is observed within the slip line passage in the case of the perfect gas model. (b) The flow characteristics of the three models, including the interaction pattern, geometric features of triple points, impingements, and separation zone, are studied and compared for Re=(4,3,2)e4/m. Differences primarily emerge between the results of the perfect gas model and the real gas model. Specifically, a transmitted shock reflecting above the separation zone is observed in the case of the perfect gas model. The effect of the gas model on temperature and specific heat ratio distributions, as well as the heat transfer and pressure coefficients over the wedge surface are investigated. The shock polar method is applied for comparison with computational results, while a 1D flow model is proposed to explain the occurrence of the quasi-normal shock wave. Finally, the effects of variations in Mach number and enthalpy are determined, by alternatively varying the two parameters around Ma=7 and h0=2.1MJ/kg at Re=4e4/m.

Convergence of the Heterogeneous Deffuant-Weisbuch Model: A Complete Proof and Some Extensions

The Deffuant-Weisbuch (DW) model is a well-known bounded-confidence opinion dynamics that has attracted wide interest. Although the heterogeneous DW model has been studied by simulations over $20$ years, its convergence proof is open. Our previous paper \cite{GC-WS-WM-FB:20} solves the problem for the case of uniform weighting factors greater than or equal to $1/2$, but the general case remains unresolved. This paper considers the DW model with heterogeneous confidence bounds and heterogeneous (unconstrained) weighting factors and shows that, with probability one, the opinion of each agent converges to a fixed vector. In other words, this paper resolves the convergence conjecture for the heterogeneous DW model. Our analysis also clarifies how the convergence speed may be arbitrarily slow under certain parameter conditions.

Enhancing Covert Communication in Relay Systems Using Multi-Antenna Technique

This paper exploits the multi-antenna technique to enhance the covert communication performance in a relay system, where a source S conducts covert communication with a destination D via a relay R, subjecting to the detections of transmissions in the two hops from a single-antenna warden W. To demonstrate the performance gain from adopting the multi-antenna technique, we first consider the scenario when S, R and D all adopt single antenna, and apply hypothesis testing and statistics theories to develop a theoretical framework for the covert performance modeling in terms of detection error probability (DEP) and covert throughput. We then consider the scenario when S, R and D all adopt multiple antennas, and apply the hypothesis testing, statistics and matrix theories to develop corresponding theoretical framework for performance modeling. We further explore the optimal designs of the target rate and transmit power for covert throughput maximization under above both scenarios, subjecting to the constraints of covertness, reliability and transmit power. To solve the optimization problems, we employ Karushi-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions method in the single antenna scenario and a search algorithm in the multi-antenna scenario. Finally, we provide extensive numerical results to illustrate how the multi-antenna technique can enhance the covert performance in two-hop relay systems.

High-Resolution Cloud Detection Network

The complexity of clouds, particularly in terms of texture detail at high resolutions, has not been well explored by most existing cloud detection networks. This paper introduces the High-Resolution Cloud Detection Network (HR-cloud-Net), which utilizes a hierarchical high-resolution integration approach. HR-cloud-Net integrates a high-resolution representation module, layer-wise cascaded feature fusion module, and multi-resolution pyramid pooling module to effectively capture complex cloud features. This architecture preserves detailed cloud texture information while facilitating feature exchange across different resolutions, thereby enhancing overall performance in cloud detection. Additionally, a novel approach is introduced wherein a student view, trained on noisy augmented images, is supervised by a teacher view processing normal images. This setup enables the student to learn from cleaner supervisions provided by the teacher, leading to improved performance. Extensive evaluations on three optical satellite image cloud detection datasets validate the superior performance of HR-cloud-Net compared to existing methods. The source code is available at \url{https://github.com/kunzhan/HR-cloud-Net}.

GVDIFF: Grounded Text-to-Video Generation with Diffusion Models

In text-to-video (T2V) generation, significant attention has been directed toward its development, yet unifying discrete and continuous grounding conditions in T2V generation remains under-explored. This paper proposes a Grounded text-to-Video generation framework, termed GVDIFF. First, we inject the grounding condition into the self-attention through an uncertainty-based representation to explicitly guide the focus of the network. Second, we introduce a spatial-temporal grounding layer that connects the grounding condition with target objects and enables the model with the grounded generation capacity in the spatial-temporal domain. Third, our dynamic gate network adaptively skips the redundant grounding process to selectively extract grounding information and semantics while improving efficiency. We extensively evaluate the grounded generation capacity of GVDIFF and demonstrate its versatility in applications, including long-range video generation, sequential prompts, and object-specific editing.

Extending Global Fits of 4D Composite Higgs Models with Partially Composite Leptons

We perform the first convergent Bayesian global fits of 4D Composite Higgs Models with partially-composite third generation quarks and leptons based on the minimal $SO(5) \rightarrow SO(4)$ symmetry breaking pattern. We consider two models with the $τ$ lepton and its associated neutrino in different representations of $SO(5)$. Fitting each model with a wide array of experimental constraints allows us to analyse the Bayesian evidence and currently-observed fine-tuning of each model by calculating the Kullback-Leibler divergence between their respective priors and posteriors. Notably both models are found to be capable of satisfying all constraints simultaneously at the $3σ$ level at scales of $< 5$ TeV. From a Bayesian viewpoint of naturalness the model with leptons in the $\mathbf{14}$ and $\mathbf{10}$ representations is preferred over those in the $\mathbf{5}$ representation due to its lower fine-tuning. Finally, we consider the experimental signatures for the preferred parameters in these models, including lepton partner decay signatures and gluon-fusion produced Higgs signal strengths, and discuss their potential phenomenology at future high-luminosity LHC runs.

ScanFormer: Referring Expression Comprehension by Iteratively Scanning

Referring Expression Comprehension (REC) aims to localize the target objects specified by free-form natural language descriptions in images. While state-of-the-art methods achieve impressive performance, they perform a dense perception of images, which incorporates redundant visual regions unrelated to linguistic queries, leading to additional computational overhead. This inspires us to explore a question: can we eliminate linguistic-irrelevant redundant visual regions to improve the efficiency of the model? Existing relevant methods primarily focus on fundamental visual tasks, with limited exploration in vision-language fields. To address this, we propose a coarse-to-fine iterative perception framework, called ScanFormer. It can iteratively exploit the image scale pyramid to extract linguistic-relevant visual patches from top to bottom. In each iteration, irrelevant patches are discarded by our designed informativeness prediction. Furthermore, we propose a patch selection strategy for discarded patches to accelerate inference. Experiments on widely used datasets, namely RefCOCO, RefCOCO+, RefCOCOg, and ReferItGame, verify the effectiveness of our method, which can strike a balance between accuracy and efficiency.

Self-paced Multi-grained Cross-modal Interaction Modeling for Referring Expression Comprehension

As an important and challenging problem in vision-language tasks, referring expression comprehension (REC) generally requires a large amount of multi-grained information of visual and linguistic modalities to realize accurate reasoning. In addition, due to the diversity of visual scenes and the variation of linguistic expressions, some hard examples have much more abundant multi-grained information than others. How to aggregate multi-grained information from different modalities and extract abundant knowledge from hard examples is crucial in the REC task. To address aforementioned challenges, in this paper, we propose a Self-paced Multi-grained Cross-modal Interaction Modeling framework, which improves the language-to-vision localization ability through innovations in network structure and learning mechanism. Concretely, we design a transformer-based multi-grained cross-modal attention, which effectively utilizes the inherent multi-grained information in visual and linguistic encoders. Furthermore, considering the large variance of samples, we propose a self-paced sample informativeness learning to adaptively enhance the network learning for samples containing abundant multi-grained information. The proposed framework significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on widely used datasets, such as RefCOCO, RefCOCO+, RefCOCOg, and ReferItGame datasets, demonstrating the effectiveness of our method.
