Impact Analysis of Inference Time Attack of Perception Sensors on Autonomous Vehicles

As a safety-critical cyber-physical system, cybersecurity and related safety issues for Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) have been important research topics for a while. Among all the modules on AVs, perception is one of the most accessible attack surfaces, as drivers and AVs have no control over the outside environment. Most current work targeting perception security for AVs focuses on perception correctness. In this work, we propose an impact analysis based on inference time attacks for autonomous vehicles. We demonstrate in a simulation system that such inference time attacks can also threaten the safety of both the ego vehicle and other traffic participants.

Waveform Design Based on Mutual Information Upper Bound For Joint Detection and Estimation

Adaptive radar waveform design grounded in information-theoretic principles is critical for advancing cognitive radar performance in complex environments. This paper investigates the optimization of phase-coded waveforms under constant modulus constraints to jointly enhance target detection and parameter estimation. We introduce a unified design framework based on maximizing a Mutual Information Upper Bound (MIUB), which inherently reconciles the trade-off between detection sensitivity and estimation precision without relying on ad hoc weighting schemes. To model realistic, potentially non-Gaussian statistics of target returns and clutter, we adopt Gaussian Mixture Distributions (GMDs), enabling analytically tractable approximations of the MIUB's constituent Kullback-Leibler divergence and mutual information terms. To address the resulting non-convex problem, we propose the Phase-Coded Dream Optimization Algorithm (PC-DOA), a tailored metaheuristic that leverages hybrid initialization and adaptive exploration-exploitation mechanisms specifically designed for phase-variable optimization. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in achieving modestly better detection-estimation trade-off.

Can You Mimic Me? Exploring the Use of Android Record & Replay Tools in Debugging

Android User Interface (UI) testing is a critical research area due to the ubiquity of apps and the challenges faced by developers. Record and replay (R&R) tools facilitate manual and automated UI testing by recording UI actions to execute test scenarios and replay bugs. These tools typically support (i) regression testing, (ii) non-crashing functional bug reproduction, and (iii) crashing bug reproduction. However, prior work only examines these tools in fragmented settings, lacking a comprehensive evaluation across common use cases. We address this gap by conducting an empirical study on using R&R tools to record and replay non-crashing failures, crashing bugs, and feature-based user scenarios, and explore combining R&R with automated input generation (AIG) tools to replay crashing bugs. Our study involves one industrial and three academic R&R tools, 34 scenarios from 17 apps, 90 non-crashing failures from 42 apps, and 31 crashing bugs from 17 apps. Results show that 17% of scenarios, 38% of non-crashing bugs, and 44% of crashing bugs cannot be reliably recorded and replayed, mainly due to action interval resolution, API incompatibility, and Android tooling limitations. Our findings highlight key future research directions to enhance the practical application of R&R tools.

An Empirical Analysis of Compatibility Issues for Industrial Mobile Games

Detecting and fixing compatibility issues is critical for mobile game development. The rapid evolution of mobile operating systems and device fragmentation make it challenging for developers to timely address these issues across diverse models. Undetected compatibility problems can severely impact user experience and cause financial loss to companies and players. However, mobile game testing remains highly challenging, and compatibility issues are largely underexplored by the research community. To bridge this gap, we conduct an empirical study on common compatibility issues in commercial mobile games. We select four active and representative games with well-documented bug reports, totaling over seven million lines of code and over 20,000 commits. We build a comprehensive dataset linking bugs and fixes, enabling investigation into prevalent symptoms, root causes, and fixing strategies. Through extensive manual analysis, we categorize the most common symptoms and root causes, and summarize the typical fixes for each category. Our findings provide practical guidance for developers and offer insights to inspire future research on testing and fixing compatibility issues in mobile games.

Probabilistic Shaping in MIMO: Going Beyond 1.53dB AWGN Gain With the Non-Linear Demapper

Constellation shaping is a well-established method to improve upon a regular quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). It is known that the gain achieved by any shaping method for an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is upper-bounded by 1.53dB. However, the situation becomes less clear in the multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) setting. In this paper, we study the application of probabilistic shaping for MIMO channels. We utilize an efficient near-optimal demapper based on sphere decoding (SD) and demonstrate that it is possible to achieve more than 2dB gains, breaking the AWGN limit. It becomes possible because both signal and interference are shaped and the non-linear methods can capture this property and leverage on it to improve the demodulation performance.

Ref-GS: Directional Factorization for 2D Gaussian Splatting

In this paper, we introduce Ref-GS, a novel approach for directional light factorization in 2D Gaussian splatting, which enables photorealistic view-dependent appearance rendering and precise geometry recovery. Ref-GS builds upon the deferred rendering of Gaussian splatting and applies directional encoding to the deferred-rendered surface, effectively reducing the ambiguity between orientation and viewing angle. Next, we introduce a spherical Mip-grid to capture varying levels of surface roughness, enabling roughness-aware Gaussian shading. Additionally, we propose a simple yet efficient geometry-lighting factorization that connects geometry and lighting via the vector outer product, significantly reducing renderer overhead when integrating volumetric attributes. Our method achieves superior photorealistic rendering for a range of open-world scenes while also accurately recovering geometry.

SF2T: Self-supervised Fragment Finetuning of Video-LLMs for Fine-Grained Understanding

Video-based Large Language Models (Video-LLMs) have witnessed substantial advancements in recent years, propelled by the advancement in multi-modal LLMs. Although these models have demonstrated proficiency in providing the overall description of videos, they struggle with fine-grained understanding, particularly in aspects such as visual dynamics and video details inquiries. To tackle these shortcomings, we find that fine-tuning Video-LLMs on self-supervised fragment tasks, greatly improve their fine-grained video understanding abilities. Hence we propose two key contributions:(1) Self-Supervised Fragment Fine-Tuning (SF$^2$T), a novel effortless fine-tuning method, employs the rich inherent characteristics of videos for training, while unlocking more fine-grained understanding ability of Video-LLMs. Moreover, it relieves researchers from labor-intensive annotations and smartly circumvents the limitations of natural language, which often fails to capture the complex spatiotemporal variations in videos; (2) A novel benchmark dataset, namely FineVidBench, for rigorously assessing Video-LLMs' performance at both the scene and fragment levels, offering a comprehensive evaluation of their capabilities. We assessed multiple models and validated the effectiveness of SF$^2$T on them. Experimental results reveal that our approach improves their ability to capture and interpret spatiotemporal details.

Dimensionality Enhanced Out-of-Plane Spin Currents in NbIrTe$_4$ for Efficient Field-Free Switching of Perpendicular Magnetization

Efficient generation of out-of-plane (OOP) spin currents is crucial for advanced spintronic memory applications. However, the theoretical understanding and experimental implementation of robust OOP spin currents for high-density and low-power magnetization switching remain significant challenges of spintronics. Here, we demonstrate that transitioning NbIrTe$_4$ from a two-dimensional quantum spin Hall insulator to a three-dimensional type-II Weyl semimetal markedly enhances OOP spin current generation. The bulk topological Weyl semimetal nature of NbIrTe$_4$, characterized by its Weyl cone, significantly enhances the OOP spin Berry curvature, enabling an unprecedented OOP spin Hall conductivity exceeding $10^5\hbar/2e$ $Ω^{-1}m^{-1} $. This enhancement, surpassing the in-plane component by more than fourfold, enables efficient and field-free spin-orbit torque (SOT) switching of perpendicular magnetization with a low current density of 1.4 MA/cm$^2$. The improved spin Hall conductivity reduces the overall power consumption by more than two orders of magnitude compared to existing systems, such as heavy metals. Our findings highlight the pivotal role of dimensionality in harnessing robust OOP spin currents in topological Weyl semimetals, paving the way for the development of high-density, low-power spintronic memory technologies.

Slot-Level Robotic Placement via Visual Imitation from Single Human Video

The majority of modern robot learning methods focus on learning a set of pre-defined tasks with limited or no generalization to new tasks. Extending the robot skillset to novel tasks involves gathering an extensive amount of training data for additional tasks. In this paper, we address the problem of teaching new tasks to robots using human demonstration videos for repetitive tasks (e.g., packing). This task requires understanding the human video to identify which object is being manipulated (the pick object) and where it is being placed (the placement slot). In addition, it needs to re-identify the pick object and the placement slots during inference along with the relative poses to enable robot execution of the task. To tackle this, we propose SLeRP, a modular system that leverages several advanced visual foundation models and a novel slot-level placement detector Slot-Net, eliminating the need for expensive video demonstrations for training. We evaluate our system using a new benchmark of real-world videos. The evaluation results show that SLeRP outperforms several baselines and can be deployed on a real robot.

PupiNet: Seamless OCT-OCTA Interconversion Through Wavelet-Driven and Multi-Scale Attention Mechanisms

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) are key diagnostic tools for clinical evaluation and management of retinal diseases. Compared to traditional OCT, OCTA provides richer microvascular information, but its acquisition requires specialized sensors and high-cost equipment, creating significant challenges for the clinical deployment of hardware-dependent OCTA imaging methods. Given the technical complexity of OCTA image acquisition and potential mechanical artifacts, this study proposes a bidirectional image conversion framework called PupiNet, which accurately achieves bidirectional transformation between 3D OCT and 3D OCTA. The generator module of this framework innovatively integrates wavelet transformation and multi-scale attention mechanisms, significantly enhancing image conversion quality. Meanwhile, an Adaptive Discriminator Augmentation (ADA) module has been incorporated into the discriminator to optimize model training stability and convergence efficiency. To ensure clinical accuracy of vascular structures in the converted images, we designed a Vessel Structure Matcher (VSM) supervision module, achieving precise matching of vascular morphology between generated images and target images. Additionally, the Hierarchical Feature Calibration (HFC) module further guarantees high consistency of texture details between generated images and target images across different depth levels. To rigorously validate the clinical effectiveness of the proposed method, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation on a paired OCT-OCTA image dataset containing 300 eyes with various retinal pathologies. Experimental results demonstrate that PupiNet not only reliably achieves high-quality bidirectional transformation between the two modalities but also shows significant advantages in image fidelity, vessel structure preservation, and clinical usability.

Unsourced Random Access in MIMO Quasi-Static Rayleigh Fading Channels: Finite Blocklength and Scaling Law Analyses

This paper considers the unsourced random access (URA) problem with a random and unknown number of active users in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels. We derive non-asymptotic achievability bounds on the probability of incorrectly estimating the number of active users, and provide scaling laws on the gap between the estimated and true numbers of active users. We prove that the error probability reaches a plateau as the power $P$ and blocklength $n$ increase, whereas it decays exponentially with the number $L$ of receive antennas and eventually vanishes. Then, we explore the fundamental limits of URA by deriving non-asymptotic achievability bounds and converse bounds (including two single-user converse bounds and one multi-user ensemble converse bound) on the minimum energy-per-bit required by each active user to transmit $J$ bits with blocklength $n$ under misdetection and false-alarm constraints. Numerical results show that the extra required energy-per-bit due to the uncertainty in the number ${\rm{K}}_a$ of active users decreases as $L$ and $\mathbb{E}[{\rm{K}}_a]$ increase and the error requirement becomes milder. In the non-asymptotic regime, using codewords distributed on a sphere outperforms Gaussian random coding. Existing schemes are shown to exhibit a large gap to our bounds when the number of active users is large, calling for more advanced schemes that perform energy-efficiently in this case. In the asymptotic regime with $n\to\infty$, we establish scaling laws on the minimum required $P$ and $L$ to reliably support ${\rm{K}}_a$ active users as functions of $n$, which highlight the potential of MIMO in enabling low-cost communication and indicate that it is possible for the minimum required $P$ and $L$ to remain on the same order when the number of active users increases but stays below a threshold.

HDLCoRe: A Training-Free Framework for Mitigating Hallucinations in LLM-Generated HDL

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in code generation tasks. However, when applied to hardware description languages (HDL), these models exhibit significant limitations due to data scarcity, resulting in hallucinations and incorrect code generation. To address these challenges, we propose HDLCoRe, a training-free framework that enhances LLMs' HDL generation capabilities through prompt engineering techniques and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Our approach consists of two main components: (1) an HDL-aware Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting technique with self-verification that classifies tasks by complexity and type, incorporates domain-specific knowledge, and guides LLMs through step-by-step self-simulation for error correction; and (2) a two-stage heterogeneous RAG system that addresses formatting inconsistencies through key component extraction and efficiently retrieves relevant HDL examples through sequential filtering and re-ranking. HDLCoRe eliminates the need for model fine-tuning while substantially improving LLMs' HDL generation capabilities. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework achieves superior performance on the RTLLM2.0 benchmark, significantly reducing hallucinations and improving both syntactic and functional correctness.

4D-ACFNet: A 4D Attention Mechanism-Based Prognostic Framework for Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis Integrating Multimodal Spatiotemporal Features

Postoperative prognostic prediction for colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM) remains challenging due to tumor heterogeneity, dynamic evolution of the hepatic microenvironment, and insufficient multimodal data fusion. To address these issues, we propose 4D-ACFNet, the first framework that synergistically integrates lightweight spatiotemporal modeling, cross-modal dynamic calibration, and personalized temporal prediction within a unified architecture. Specifically, it incorporates a novel 4D spatiotemporal attention mechanism, which employs spatiotemporal separable convolution (reducing parameter count by 41%) and virtual timestamp encoding to model the interannual evolution patterns of postoperative dynamic processes, such as liver regeneration and steatosis. For cross-modal feature alignment, Transformer layers are integrated to jointly optimize modality alignment loss and disentanglement loss, effectively suppressing scale mismatch and redundant interference in clinical-imaging data. Additionally, we design a dynamic prognostic decision module that generates personalized interannual recurrence risk heatmaps through temporal upsampling and a gated classification head, overcoming the limitations of traditional methods in temporal dynamic modeling and cross-modal alignment. Experiments on 197 CRLM patients demonstrate that the model achieves 100% temporal adjacency accuracy (TAA), with performance significantly surpassing existing approaches. This study establishes the first spatiotemporal modeling paradigm for postoperative dynamic monitoring of CRLM. The proposed framework can be extended to prognostic analysis of multi-cancer metastases, advancing precision surgery from "spatial resection" to "spatiotemporal cure."

RURANET++: An Unsupervised Learning Method for Diabetic Macular Edema Based on SCSE Attention Mechanisms and Dynamic Multi-Projection Head Clustering

Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), a prevalent complication among diabetic patients, constitutes a major cause of visual impairment and blindness. Although deep learning has achieved remarkable progress in medical image analysis, traditional DME diagnosis still relies on extensive annotated data and subjective ophthalmologist assessments, limiting practical applications. To address this, we present RURANET++, an unsupervised learning-based automated DME diagnostic system. This framework incorporates an optimized U-Net architecture with embedded Spatial and Channel Squeeze & Excitation (SCSE) attention mechanisms to enhance lesion feature extraction. During feature processing, a pre-trained GoogLeNet model extracts deep features from retinal images, followed by PCA-based dimensionality reduction to 50 dimensions for computational efficiency. Notably, we introduce a novel clustering algorithm employing multi-projection heads to explicitly control cluster diversity while dynamically adjusting similarity thresholds, thereby optimizing intra-class consistency and inter-class discrimination. Experimental results demonstrate superior performance across multiple metrics, achieving maximum accuracy (0.8411), precision (0.8593), recall (0.8411), and F1-score (0.8390), with exceptional clustering quality. This work provides an efficient unsupervised solution for DME diagnosis with significant clinical implications.

StdGEN: Semantic-Decomposed 3D Character Generation from Single Images

We present StdGEN, an innovative pipeline for generating semantically decomposed high-quality 3D characters from single images, enabling broad applications in virtual reality, gaming, and filmmaking, etc. Unlike previous methods which struggle with limited decomposability, unsatisfactory quality, and long optimization times, StdGEN features decomposability, effectiveness and efficiency; i.e., it generates intricately detailed 3D characters with separated semantic components such as the body, clothes, and hair, in three minutes. At the core of StdGEN is our proposed Semantic-aware Large Reconstruction Model (S-LRM), a transformer-based generalizable model that jointly reconstructs geometry, color and semantics from multi-view images in a feed-forward manner. A differentiable multi-layer semantic surface extraction scheme is introduced to acquire meshes from hybrid implicit fields reconstructed by our S-LRM. Additionally, a specialized efficient multi-view diffusion model and an iterative multi-layer surface refinement module are integrated into the pipeline to facilitate high-quality, decomposable 3D character generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate our state-of-the-art performance in 3D anime character generation, surpassing existing baselines by a significant margin in geometry, texture and decomposability. StdGEN offers ready-to-use semantic-decomposed 3D characters and enables flexible customization for a wide range of applications. Project page: https://stdgen.github.io

ClimateLLM: Efficient Weather Forecasting via Frequency-Aware Large Language Models

Weather forecasting is crucial for public safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, agricultural production, and energy management, with global relevance. Although deep learning has significantly advanced weather prediction, current methods face critical limitations: (i) they often struggle to capture both dynamic temporal dependencies and short-term abrupt changes, making extreme weather modeling difficult; (ii) they incur high computational costs due to extensive training and resource requirements; (iii) they have limited adaptability to multi-scale frequencies, leading to challenges when separating global trends from local fluctuations. To address these issues, we propose ClimateLLM, a foundation model for weather forecasting. It captures spatiotemporal dependencies via a cross-temporal and cross-spatial collaborative modeling framework that integrates Fourier-based frequency decomposition with Large Language Models (LLMs) to strengthen spatial and temporal modeling. Our framework uses a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) mechanism that adaptively processes different frequency components, enabling efficient handling of both global signals and localized extreme events. In addition, we introduce a cross-temporal and cross-spatial dynamic prompting mechanism, allowing LLMs to incorporate meteorological patterns across multiple scales effectively. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that ClimateLLM outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in accuracy and efficiency, as a scalable solution for global weather forecasting.

Beyond Pass or Fail: Multi-Dimensional Benchmarking of Foundation Models for Goal-based Mobile UI Navigation

Recent advances of foundation models (FMs) have made navigating mobile applications (apps) based on high-level goal instructions within reach, with significant industrial applications such as UI testing. While existing benchmarks evaluate FM-based UI navigation using the binary pass/fail metric, they have two major limitations: they cannot reflect the complex nature of mobile UI navigation where FMs may fail for various reasons (e.g., misunderstanding instructions and failed planning), and they lack industrial relevance due to oversimplified tasks that poorly represent real-world scenarios. To address the preceding limitations, we propose Sphinx, a comprehensive benchmark for multi-dimensional evaluation of FMs in industrial settings of UI navigation. Sphinx introduces a specialized toolkit that evaluates five essential FM capabilities, providing detailed insights into failure modes such as insufficient app knowledge or planning issues. Using both popular Google Play applications and WeChat's internal UI test cases, we evaluate 8 FMs with 20 different configurations. Our results show that existing FMs universally struggle with goal-based testing tasks, primarily due to insufficient UI-specific capabilities. We summarize seven lessons learned from benchmarking FMs with Sphinx, providing clear directions for improving FM-based mobile UI navigation.
