A regenerating free-energy register for protein-templated period-2 DNA synthesis by Drt3b

Deng et al. discovered that Drt3b synthesizes protein-primed poly(AC) DNA without a nucleic-acid template. The structures reveal a finite protein architecture and product-associated contacts, but not the renewable dynamical rule that converts a bounded pocket into a long period-2 sequence. We propose that Drt3b is a regenerating protein-substrate free-energy register. The framework specifies a sampled quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) potential of mean force and a preregistered, within-domain first-order electronic-descriptor map for edge-specific activation barriers; physical curvature is admitted only through a training-frozen Taylor-remainder bound that widens uncertainty but never corrects a held-out mean. Conditional hazards derived from those barriers are averaged over unresolved conformational, hydration, protonation, and metal-coordination trajectories to yield a semi-Markov event kernel. Pointwise ratios of competing hazards are therefore fixed by the same barrier differences and preregistered prefactor rules that govern exit timing, so nucleotide choice and dwell statistics are co-generated rather than separately fitted. A regime gate separates stationary or slowly driven experiments, analyzed by a joint sequence-time cycle determinant, from genuinely nonstationary protocols, analyzed by the full age-structured tilted propagator. The decisive test is one locked parameterization: without condition-specific refitting, it must jointly predict nucleotide choice, waiting-time laws, product-length tails, and the rank, minors, null spaces, and rescue structure of perturbation responses. An independent 2026 DRT3 study supplies a stringent cross-construct transport test after sequence and structural alignment are frozen. The proposal requires neither coherent quantum computation nor coupling to an external field.

Identification of quantum generative circuits with parallel quantum neural network

The rapid emergence of quantum technology has raised new challenges in distinguishing various quantum circuits of similar functions. In this work, we propose parallel quantum embedding neural network (ParaQuanNet) for the efficient identification of quantum generative circuits via classifications of the corresponding output data. Specifically, we generated W-like states with eight generative quantum circuits realizing the generative quantum denoising diffusion probabilistic models (QDDPM). Our ParaQuanNet can classify these eight classes of generated quantum data with an accuracy of {$99.5\%$}, even though all of them are trained to generate the same types of quantum data. With a novel design of parallel quantum embedding unit (PQEU) in our neural networks, our ParaQuanNet enables the quantum kernel circuit parallelly process all the receptive fields of quantum data, which empowers the quantum data processing efficiency. We also integrate the mutually unbiased measurements into our ParaQuanNet and further improve its performance. We apply our ParaQuanNet on the classification of classical data sets and demonstrate a good performance of quantum neural networks on these tasks. Our approach demonstrates good robustness to noisy data and the circuit-level noise with a Python realization in a classical GPU. Our results highlight ParaQuanNet as a scalable and effective framework for quantum circuits identification, contributing to the broader development of quantum machine intelligence.

Self-induced manipulation of biphoton entanglement in topologically distinct modes

Biphoton states have shown promising applications in quantum information processing, including quantum communications, quantum metrology, and quantum imaging. The generation and manipulation of biphoton entanglement in topologically distinct modes paves the way in this direction. Here we present a comprehensive method for regulating the topological properties of the system by combining the nonlinearity in waveguides, i.e., nonlinearity in the waveguide coupling materials, and the waveguide lattice structure. Our method enables the generation of topological biphoton states with injected pump activation on the topologically trivial modes. This is realized through self-induced manipulation on pump-dependent nonlinear couplings on the defects, which is unable to be realized while there are no such nonlinear couplings. Specifically, by including the nonlinear gain/loss mechanism in the coupling between the nearest-neighbor waveguides and the third-order Kerr nonlinearity effect along the waveguides, the injected pump power will be the controllable parameter for the manipulation of the topology in the defect states and the generation of biphoton entanglement states. We also present an experimental proposal to realize our scheme and its generalization in the contemporaneous "active" topological photonics time-bin platforms. Our method can be used in other Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) models with various defect configurations. Our method enables the reusability and versatility of SSH lattice chips and their application for fault-tolerant quantum information processing, promoting the industrialization process of quantum technology.

Autonomous Floquet Engineering of Bosonic Codes via Reinforcement Learning

Bosonic codes represent a promising route toward quantum error correction in continuous-variable systems, with direct relevance to experimental platforms such as circuit QED and optomechanics. However, their preparation and stabilization remain highly challenging, requiring ultra-precise control of nonlinear interactions to create entangled superpositions, suppress decoherence, and mitigate dynamic errors. Here, we introduce a reinforcement-learning-assisted Floquet engineering approach for the autonomous preparation of bosonic codes that is general, efficient, and noise-resilient. By leveraging machine learning to optimize Floquet driving parameters, our method achieves over two orders of magnitude reduction in evolution time-requiring only about one percent of that in conventional adiabatic schemes-while maintaining high-fidelity state generation even under strong dissipative and dephasing noise. This approach not only demonstrates the power of artificial intelligence in quantum control but also establishes a scalable and experimentally feasible route toward fault-tolerant bosonic quantum computation. Beyond the specific application to bosonic code preparation, our results suggest a general paradigm for integrating machine learning and Floquet engineering to overcome decoherence challenges in next-generation quantum technologies.

Coherent quantum work extraction of a relativistic battery as a probe for acceleration-induced Unruh thermality

We propose a physical scheme of a uniformly accelerated Unruh-DeWitt battery and utilize quantum work extraction as a probe to witness the thermal nature of the Unruh effect induced by the accelerated motion. By employing the open quantum system approach, we analyze the coherent and incoherent components of the ergotropy which is the maximum amount of quantum work extraction of the relativistic battery driven by a coherent field. It has been proved that the steady values of coherent quantum work extraction in the asymptotic condition is only determined by the acceleration-dependent Unruh temperature. The asymptotic behavior of coherent ergotropy can demonstrate the thermal nature of the Unruh effect with respect to the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger condition. Under the circumstance of the Unruh effect, we explore the effect of the phase of the coherent charging field on the dynamics of coherent ergotropy when the battery approaches to the same thermal equilibrium state. The variation in the phase of the coherent driving field can improve the energy storage capacity of a relativistic battery. From viewpoint of energy transfer, the relativistic battery is helpful to examine the Unruh thermality.

Self-attention U-Net decoder for toric codes

In the NISQ era, one of the most important bottlenecks for the realization of universal quantum computation is error correction. Stabiliser code is the most recognizable type of quantum error correction code. A scalable efficient decoder is most desired for the application of the quantum error correction codes. In this work, we propose a self-attention U-Net quantum decoder (SU-NetQD) for toric code, which outperforms the minimum weight perfect matching decoder, especially in the circuit level noise environments. Specifically, with our SU-NetQD, we achieve lower logical error rates compared with MWPM and discover an increased trend of code threshold as the increase of noise bias. We obtain a high threshold of 0.231 for the extremely biased noise environment. The combination of low-level decoder and high-level decoder is the key innovation for the high accuracy of our decoder. With transfer learning mechanics, our decoder is scalable for cases with different code distances. Our decoder provides a practical tool for quantum noise analysis and promotes the practicality of quantum error correction codes and quantum computing.

Quantum data generation in a denoising model with multiscale entanglement renormalization network

Quantum technology has entered the era of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) information processing. The technological revolution of machine learning represented by generative models heralds a great prospect of artificial intelligence, and the huge amount of data processes poses a big challenge to existing computers. The generation of large quantities of quantum data will be a challenge for quantum artificial intelligence. In this work, we present an efficient noise-resistant quantum data generation method that can be applied to various types of NISQ quantum processors, where the target quantum data belongs to a certain class and our proposal enables the generation of various quantum data belonging to the target class. Specifically, we propose a quantum denoising probability model (QDM) based on a multiscale entanglement renormalization network (MERA) for the generation of quantum data. To show the feasibility and practicality of our scheme, we demonstrate the generations of the classes of GHZ-like states and W-like states with a success rate above 99%. Our MREA QDM can also be used to denoise multiple types of quantum data simultaneously. We show the success rate of denoising both GHZ-like and W-like states with a single qubit noise environment of noise level within 1/4 can approximate to be 100%, and with two other types of noise environment with noise level within 1/4 can be above 90%. Our quantum data generation scheme provides new ideas and prospects for quantum generative models in the NISQ era.

Quantum work extraction of a moving battery as a witness to Unruh thermality in high-dimensional spacetimes

We put forward a physical model of a uniformly accelerated Unruh-DeWitt battery and use quantum work extraction as a probe to witness the thermal nature of the Unruh effect in a high dimensional Minkowski spacetime. By means of the open quantum system approach, we investigate the maximal amount of quantum work extraction with respect to the acceleration-induced Unruh temperature, spacetime dimensionality and field mass. It has been found that the steady amount of quantum work extraction in the asymptotic condition is just determined by the Unruh temperature in arbitrary dimensional spacetimes. The asymptotic behavior can demonstrate the global feature of Unruh thermality dependent on the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger condition. From a local viewpoint of Unruh effect, we study the different ways for the dynamics of quantum work extraction when the battery gradually arrives at the same steady state. In the massless scalar field, the evolution with a small acceleration takes on a unique monotonicity in $D=3$ dimensional spacetime and changes to a decaying oscillation for other higher dimensions. The increase in spacetime dimensionality can increase the energy storage capacity of the moving battery. If the mass of the scalar field is considered, the related quantum work extraction is so robust against the Unruh decoherence that the high values can keep for a very long time. The persistence of quantum work extraction is strengthened in higher dimensional spacetime.

Quantum versatility in PageRank

Quantum mechanics empowers the emergence of quantum advantages in various fields, including quantum algorithms. Quantum PageRank is a promising tool for a future quantum internet. Recently, arbitrary phase rotations (APR) have been introduced in the underlying Szegedy's quantum walk of quantum PageRank algorithm. In this work, we thoroughly study the role APR plays in quantum PageRank. We discover the versatility resulting from quantumness. Specifically, we discover the emergence of a cluster phenomenon in rankings considering the rotation phases, i.e. the existence of similar clusters in the distribution of the rankings and their fidelity with the corresponding classical PageRanks, the ranking distribution variance, the coherence and entanglement of PageRank states, and the power law parameter in the ranking distributions on a scale-free network concerning the two rotation phases. Furthermore, we propose an alternate quantum PageRank with APR which provides an extra tunnel for the analysis of PageRank. We also study the PageRank on the trackback graph of a scale-free graph for the investigation of network information traffic tracking. We demonstrate the rich cluster diversity formed in our alternate quantum PageRank, which offers a novel perspective on the quantum versatility of PageRank. Our results present the quantum-enabled perspective for PageRanking and shed light on the design and application of practical quantum PageRank algorithms.

Berry Curvature and Bulk-Boundary Correspondence from Transport Measurement for Photonic Chern Bands

Berry curvature is a fundamental element to characterize topological quantum physics, while a full measurement of Berry curvature in momentum space was not reported for topological states. Here we achieve two-dimensional Berry curvature reconstruction in a photonic quantum anomalous Hall system via Hall transport measurement of a momentum-resolved wave packet. Integrating measured Berry curvature over the two-dimensional Brillouin zone, we obtain Chern numbers corresponding to -1 and 0. Further, we identify bulk-boundary correspondence by measuring topology-linked chiral edge states at the boundary. The full topological characterization of photonic Chern bands from Berry curvature, Chern number, and edge transport measurements enables our photonic system to serve as a versatile platform for further in-depth study of novel topological physics.

Biphoton entanglement of topologically-distinct modes

The robust generation and manipulation of entangled multiphoton states on-chip has an essential role in quantum computation and communication. Lattice topology has emerged as a means of protecting photonic states from disorder but entanglement across different topologies remained unexplored. We report biphoton entanglement between topologically distinct spatial modes in a bipartite array of silicon waveguides. The results highlight topology as an additional degree of freedom for entanglement and open avenues for investigating information teleportation between trivial and topological modes.

Channel Discord and Distortion

Discord, originally notable as a signature of bipartite quantum correlation,in fact can be nonzero classically, i.e., arising from noisy measurements by one of the two parties. Here we redefine classical discord to quantify channel distortion,in contrast to the previous restriction of classical discord to a state, and we then show a monotonic relationship between classical (channel) discord and channel distortion. We show that classical discord is equivalent to (doubly stochastic) channel distortion by numerically discovering a monotonic relation between discord and total-variation distance for a bipartite protocol with one party having a noiseless channel and the other party having a noisy channel. Our numerical method includes randomly generating doubly stochastic matrices for noisy channels and averaging over a uniform measure of input messages. Connecting discord with distortion establishes discord as a signature of classical, not quantum, channel distortion.

Quantum topology identification with deep neural networks and quantum walks

Topologically ordered materials may serve as a platform for new quantum technologies such as fault-tolerant quantum computers. To fulfil this promise, efficient and general methods are needed to discover and classify new topological phases of matter. We demonstrate that deep neural networks augmented with external memory can use the density profiles formed in quantum walks to efficiently identify properties of a topological phase as well as phase transitions. On a trial topological ordered model, our method's accuracy of topological phase identification reaches 97.4%, and is shown to be robust to noise on the data. Furthermore, we demonstrate that our trained DNN is able to identify topological phases of a perturbed model and predict the corresponding shift of topological phase transitions without learning any information about the perturbations in advance. These results demonstrate that our approach is generally applicable and may be used to identify a variety of quantum topological materials.

Uncover Topology by Quantum Quench Dynamics

Topological quantum states are characterized by nonlocal invariants, and their detection is intrinsically challenging. Various strategies have been developed to study topological Hamiltonians through their equilibrium states. We present a fundamentally new, high-precision dynamical approach, revealing topology through the unitary evolution after a quench from a topological trivial initial state with a two-dimensional Chern band realized in an ultracold $^{87}$Rb atom gas. The emerging ring structure in the spin dynamics uniquely determines the Chern number for the post-quench band and enables probing the full phase diagram of the band topology with high precision. Besides, we also measure the topological band gap and the domain wall structure dynamically formed in the momentum space during the long-term evolution. Our dynamical approach provides a way towards observing a universal bulk-ring correspondence, and has broad applications in exploring topological quantum matter.

Quantum walk on a chimera graph

We analyze a continuous-time quantum walk on a chimera graph, which is a graph of choice for designing quantum annealers, and we discover beautiful quantum-walk features such as localization that starkly distinguishes classical from quantum behavior. Motivated by technological thrusts, we study continuous-time quantum walks on enhanced variants of the chimera graph and on a diminished chimera graph with a random removal of sites. We explain the quantum walk by constructing a generating set for a suitable subgroup of graph isomorphisms and corresponding symmetry operators that commute with the quantum-walk Hamiltonian; the Hamiltonian and these symmetry operators provide a complete set of labels for the spectrum and the stationary states. Our quantum-walk characterization of the chimera graph and its variants yields valuable insights into graphs used for designing quantum-annealers.

Detecting topological transitions in two dimensions by Hamiltonian evolution

We show that the evolution of two-component particles governed by a two-dimensional spin-orbit lattice Hamiltonian can reveal transitions between topological phases. A kink in the mean width of the particle distribution signals the closing of the band gap, a prerequisite for a quantum phase transition between topological phases. Furthermore, for realistic and experimentally motivated Hamiltonians the density profile in topologically non-trivial phases displays characteristic rings in the vicinity of the origin that are absent in trivial phases. The results are expected to have immediate application to systems of ultracold atoms and photonic lattices.

As salient applications, we show how our scheme will simulate Majorana modes and edge states.
