Self-Organizing Quantum Networks

As the inevitable development trend of quantum key distribution, quantum networks have attracted extensive attention, and many prototypes have been deployed over recent years. Existing quantum networks based on optical fibers or quantum satellites can realize the metro and even global communications. However, for some application scenarios that require emergency or temporary communications, such networks cannot meet the requirements of rapid deployment, low cost, and high mobility. To solve this problem, we introduce an important concept of classical networks, i.e., self-organization, to quantum networks, and give two simple network prototypes based on acquisition, tracking, and pointing systems. In these networks, the users only need to deploy the network nodes, which will rapidly, automatically, and adaptively organize and mange a quantum network. Our method expands the application scope of quantum networks, and gives a new approach for the design and implementation of quantum networks. It also provides users with a low-cost access network solution, and can be used to fundamentally solve the security problem of classical self-organizing networks.

Challenges for models with composite states

Composite states of electrically charged and QCD-colored hyperquarks (HQs) in a confining SU(N_HC) hypercolor gauge sector are a plausible extension of the standard model at the TeV scale, and have been widely considered as an explanation for the tentative LHC diphoton excess. Additional new physics is required to avoid a stable charged hyperbaryon in such theories. We classify renormalizable models allowing the decay of this unwanted relic directly into standard model states, showing that they are significantly restricted if the new scalar states needed for UV completion are at the TeV scale. Alternatively, if hyperbaryon number is conserved, the charged relic can decay into a neutral hyperbaryon. Such theories are strongly constrained by direct detection, if the neutral constituent hyperquark carries color or weak isospin, and by LHC searches for leptoquarks if it is a color singlet. We show that the neutral hyperbaryon can have the observed relic abundance if the confinement scale and the hyperquark mass are above TeV scale, even in the absence of any hyperbaryon asymmetry.

Impact of a complex singlet: From dark matter to baryogenesis

With the assistance of a complex singlet, and an effective operator involving CP violations, the dark matter relic abundance and baryon asymmetry of the universe have been addressed simul- taneously. We studied the electroweak baryogenesis mechanism systematically. The electroweak phase transition analysis indicates that the strong first order phase transition takes place by one- step or two-step type due to the dynamics of the energy gap between the electroweak vacuum and the vacuum of the complex singlet. The relation between the magnitude of baryon asymmetry of the universe and the phase transition type and strength has been explored in the framework of electroweak baryogenesis.

Flavor anomalies at the LHC and the R-parity violating supersymmetric model extended with vectorlike particles

In this paper, we consider a solution to explain the three discrepancies with the standard model (SM) predictions in flavor observables, i.e. anomalies in $B\rightarrow K^\astμ^+μ^-$ and $R_K=\mathcal{B}(B\rightarrow Kμ^+μ^-)/\mathcal{B}(B\rightarrow K e^+e^-)$ at the LHCb and an excess in $h\rightarrow μτ$ at the CMS in the context of R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetry. We demonstrate that these anomalies can be explained within a unified framework: the minimal supersymmetry model (MSSM) extended with $5+\overline{5}$ vectorlike (VL) particles. The new trilinear RPV couplings involving VL particles in our model can solve the $b\rightarrow s$ anomalies , and the mixing between the SM-like Higgs boson and the VL sneutrino can yield the extra $h \rightarrow μτ$ decay mode.

The interpretation for Galactic Center Excess and Electroweak Phase Transition in the NMSSM

The gamma-ray excess observed by the Fermi-LAT in the Galactic Center can be interpreted by the dark matter annihilation to $b\bar{b}$ via a light pseudoscalar in the NMSSM. It is interesting to note that the corresponding singlet scalar is useful to achieve a strongly first order phase transition required by the electroweak baryogenesis. In this paper, we investigate the possibility that the NMSSM model can simultaneously accommodate these two issues. The phase transition strength can be characterized by the vacua energy gap at zero temperature and be sufficiently enhanced by the tree-level effect in the NMSSM. We find that the annihilation of Singlino/Higgsino DM particles occurring close to the light pseudoscalar resonance is favored by the galactic center excess and the observed DM relic density, and a resulting small $κ/λ$ and a negative $A_κ$ can also lead to a successful strongly first order electroweak phase transition.

New Insights of Electroweak Phase Transition in NMSSM

We perform a detailed semi-analytical analysis of the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) property in NMSSM, which serves as a good benchmark model in which the 126 GeV Higgs mixes with a singlet. In this case, a strongly first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) is achieved by the tree-level effects and the phase transition strength $γ_c$ is determined by the vacua energy gap at $T=0$. We make an anatomy of the energy gap at both tree-level and loop-level and extract out a dimensionless phase transition parameter $R_κ\equiv 4 κv_s / A_κ$, which can replace $A_κ$ in the parameterization and affect the light CP odd and even Higgs spectra. We find that SFOEWPT only occurs in $R_κ\sim -1$ and positive $R_κ\lesssim \mathcal{O}(10)$, which in the non-PQ limit case would prefer either a relatively light CP odd or CP even Higgs boson $\sim (60, 100)$ GeV, therefore serves as a smoking gun signal and requires new search strategies at the LHC.

On the Higgs Fit and Electroweak Phase Transition

We consider the Higgs portal through which light scalars contribute both to the Higgs production and decay and Higgs effective potential at finite temperature via quantum loops. The positive Higgs portal coupling required by a strongly first order electroweak phase transition is disfavored by the current Higgs data if we consider one such scalar. We observe that by introducing a second scalar with negative Higgs portal coupling, one can not only improve the Higgs fits, but also enhance the strength of first order EWPT. We apply this mechanism to the light stop scenario for electroweak baryogenesis in the MSSM and find a light sbottom could play the role as the second scalar, which allows the stop to be relatively heavier. Non-decoupled effects on the Higgs or sbottom self-interactions from physics beyond MSSM is found to be indispensable for this scenario to work. A clear prediction from the picture is the existence of a light sbottom (below 200 GeV) and a light stop (can be as heavy as 140 GeV), which can be directly tested in the near future.
