Low-threshold vortex lasing in three-dimensional cavities via flatband bound states in the continuum

Bound states in the continuum (BICs) offer a robust route toward high-Q resonators and topological structured-light generation. While optically pumped BIC lasers have advanced significantly, realizing electrically pumped vortex lasers remains challenging due to conflicting requirements for optical confinement and carrier injection. Here, we demonstrate an electrically pumped vector vortex laser based on a photonic crystal-guiding layer-distributed Bragg reflector (PC-GL-DBR) heterostructure. The photonic crystal slab precisely tailors the symmetry and dispersion of BIC modes, including a flatband BIC state, while an intermediate guiding layer enables optical mode engineering without directly patterning the multiple-quantum-well active region, preserving efficient carrier injection and strong optical confinement. Under optical pumping, the device achieves single-mode lasing with a Q of 9700, a threshold of 0.129 kW/cm$^2$, and a side-mode suppression ratio of 26 dB. Crucially, room-temperature electrically pumped vortex lasing is achieved with a low turn-on voltage of 1.8 V, a threshold current density of 0.13 kA/cm$^2$, and a cavity Q of 8600, successfully preserving the characteristic vector-vortex emission of the topological BIC state. These results establish a practical route toward electrically driven BIC vortex lasers for integrated structured-light sources and topological photonics.

Optimal slit width for high-precision orbital angular momentum measurement using angular double-slit interferometry

We demonstrate an optimization of angular double-slit interferometry for accurate measurement of orbital angular momentum (OAM) of vortex beams. By scanning the dynamic double slits, the topological charge (TC) magnitude is directly determined from the oscillation frequency of the on-axis intensity. Based on repeated experimental investigations, we establish a critical criterion for slit width selection: to avoid phase truncation or period overlap, the angular width of each slit must exactly match the spiral phase period 2{\pi}/|l|. Under this optimal condition, the interference pattern exhibits the highest visibility and the measurement error is minimized. Experiments for l = 5, 10, and 15 are performed as representative examples, and the universality of this criterion is confirmed. Furthermore, by introducing an additional phase shift, the sign of the TC is unambiguously determined, as demonstrated for l = 10 and l = -15. This simple, robust method provides a high-precision pathway for OAM metrology.

Learning with Semantic Priors: Stabilizing Point-Supervised Infrared Small Target Detection via Hierarchical Knowledge Distillation

Single-frame Infrared Small Target Detection (ISTD) aims to localize weak targets under heavy background clutter, yet dense pixel-wise annotations are expensive. Point supervision with online label evolution reduces annotation cost; however, lightweight CNN detectors often lack sufficient semantics, leading to noisy pseudo-masks and unstable optimization. To address this, we propose a hierarchical VFM-driven knowledge distillation framework that uses a frozen Vision Foundation Model (VFM) during training. We formulate point-supervised learning as a bilevel optimization process: the inner loop adapts a VFM-embedded teacher on reweighted training samples, while the outer loop transfers validation-guided knowledge to a lightweight student to mitigate pseudo-label noise and training-set bias. We further introduce Semantic-Conditioned Affine Modulation (SCAM) to inject VFM semantics into CNN features at multiple layers. In addition, a dynamic collaborative learning strategy with cluster-level sample reweighting enhances robustness to imperfect pseudo-masks. Experiments on diverse challenging cases across multiple ISTD backbones demonstrate consistent improvements in detection accuracy and training stability. Physion-Eval: Evaluating Physical Realism in Generated Video via Human Reasoning

Video generation models are increasingly used as world simulators for storytelling, simulation, and embodied AI. As these models advance, a key question arises: do generated videos obey the physical laws of the real world? Existing evaluations largely rely on automated metrics or coarse human judgments such as preferences or rubric-based checks. While useful for assessing perceptual quality, these methods provide limited insight into when and why generated dynamics violate real-world physical constraints. We introduce Physion-Eval, a large-scale benchmark of expert human reasoning for diagnosing physical realism failures in videos generated by five state-of-the-art models across egocentric and exocentric views, containing 10,990 expert reasoning traces spanning 22 fine-grained physical categories. Each generated video is derived from a corresponding real-world reference video depicting a clear physical process, and annotated with temporally localized glitches, structured failure categories, and natural-language explanations of the violated physical behavior. Using this dataset, we reveal a striking limitation of current video generation models: in physics-critical scenarios, 83.3% of exocentric and 93.5% of egocentric generated videos exhibit at least one human-identifiable physical glitch. We hope Physion-Eval will set a new standard for physical realism evaluation and guide the development of physics-grounded video generation. The benchmark is publicly available at https://huggingface.co/datasets/PhysionLabs/Physion-Eval.

Efficient stereo matching on embedded GPUs with zero-means cross correlation

Mobile stereo-matching systems have become an important part of many applications, such as automated-driving vehicles and autonomous robots. Accurate stereo-matching methods usually lead to high computational complexity; however, mobile platforms have only limited hardware resources to keep their power consumption low; this makes it difficult to maintain both an acceptable processing speed and accuracy on mobile platforms. To resolve this trade-off, we herein propose a novel acceleration approach for the well-known zero-means normalized cross correlation (ZNCC) matching cost calculation algorithm on a Jetson Tx2 embedded GPU. In our method for accelerating ZNCC, target images are scanned in a zigzag fashion to efficiently reuse one pixel's computation for its neighboring pixels; this reduces the amount of data transmission and increases the utilization of on-chip registers, thus increasing the processing speed. As a result, our method is 2X faster than the traditional image scanning method, and 26% faster than the latest NCC method. By combining this technique with the domain transformation (DT) algorithm, our system show real-time processing speed of 32 fps, on a Jetson Tx2 GPU for 1,280x384 pixel images with a maximum disparity of 128. Additionally, the evaluation results on the KITTI 2015 benchmark show that our combined system is more accurate than the same algorithm combined with census by 7.26%, while maintaining almost the same processing speed. A dynamic memory assignment strategy for dilation-based ICP algorithm on embedded GPUs

This paper proposes a memory-efficient optimization strategy for the high-performance point cloud registration algorithm VANICP, enabling lightweight execution on embedded GPUs with constrained hardware resources. VANICP is a recently published acceleration framework that significantly improves the computational efficiency of point-cloud-based applications. By transforming the global nearest neighbor search into a localized process through a dilation-based information propagation mechanism, VANICP greatly reduces the computational complexity of the NNS. However, its original implementation demands a considerable amount of memory, which restricts its deployment in resource-constrained environments such as embedded systems. To address this issue, we propose a GPU-oriented dynamic memory assignment strategy that optimizes the memory usage of the dilation operation. Furthermore, based on this strategy, we construct an enhanced version of the VANICP framework that achieves over 97% reduction in memory consumption while preserving the original performance. Research on Brain Tumor Classification Method Based on Improved ResNet34 Network

Previously, image interpretation in radiology relied heavily on manual methods. However, manual classification of brain tumor medical images is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Even with shallow convolutional neural network models, the accuracy is not ideal. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of brain tumor image classification, this paper proposes a brain tumor classification model based on an improved ResNet34 network. This model uses the ResNet34 residual network as the backbone network and incorporates multi-scale feature extraction. It uses a multi-scale input module as the first layer of the ResNet34 network and an Inception v2 module as the residual downsampling layer. Furthermore, a channel attention mechanism module assigns different weights to different channels of the image from a channel domain perspective, obtaining more important feature information. The results after a five-fold crossover experiment show that the average classification accuracy of the improved network model is approximately 98.8%, which is not only 1% higher than ResNet34, but also only 80% of the number of parameters of the original model. Therefore, the improved network model not only improves accuracy but also reduces clutter, achieving a classification effect with fewer parameters and higher accuracy.

Ovi: Twin Backbone Cross-Modal Fusion for Audio-Video Generation

Audio-video generation has often relied on complex multi-stage architectures or sequential synthesis of sound and visuals. We introduce Ovi, a unified paradigm for audio-video generation that models the two modalities as a single generative process. By using blockwise cross-modal fusion of twin-DiT modules, Ovi achieves natural synchronization and removes the need for separate pipelines or post hoc alignment. To facilitate fine-grained multimodal fusion modeling, we initialize an audio tower with an architecture identical to that of a strong pretrained video model. Trained from scratch on hundreds of thousands of hours of raw audio, the audio tower learns to generate realistic sound effects, as well as speech that conveys rich speaker identity and emotion. Fusion is obtained by jointly training the identical video and audio towers via blockwise exchange of timing (via scaled-RoPE embeddings) and semantics (through bidirectional cross-attention) on a vast video corpus. Our model enables cinematic storytelling with natural speech and accurate, context-matched sound effects, producing movie-grade video clips. All the demos, code and model weights are published at https://aaxwaz.github.io/Ovi

HOTS3D: Hyper-Spherical Optimal Transport for Semantic Alignment of Text-to-3D Generation

Recent CLIP-guided 3D generation methods have achieved promising results but struggle with generating faithful 3D shapes that conform with input text due to the gap between text and image embeddings. To this end, this paper proposes HOTS3D which makes the first attempt to effectively bridge this gap by aligning text features to the image features with spherical optimal transport(SOT). However, in high-dimensional situations, solving the SOT remains a challenge. To obtain the SOT map for high-dimensional features obtained from CLIP encoding of two modalities, we mathematically formulate and derive the solution based on Villani's theorem, which can directly align two hyper-sphere distributions without manifold exponential maps. Furthermore, we implement it by leveraging input convex neural networks (ICNNs) for the optimal Kantorovich potential. With the optimally mapped features, a diffusion-based generator is utilized to decode them into 3D shapes. Extensive quantitative and qualitative comparisons with state-of-the-art methods demonstrate the superiority of HOTS3D for text-to-3D generation, especially in the consistency with text semantics.

Faster than Fast: Accelerating Oriented FAST Feature Detection on Low-end Embedded GPUs

The visual-based SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) is a technology widely used in applications such as robotic navigation and virtual reality, which primarily focuses on detecting feature points from visual images to construct an unknown environmental map and simultaneously determines its own location. It usually imposes stringent requirements on hardware power consumption, processing speed and accuracy. Currently, the ORB (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF)-based SLAM systems have exhibited superior performance in terms of processing speed and robustness. However, they still fall short of meeting the demands for real-time processing on mobile platforms. This limitation is primarily due to the time-consuming Oriented FAST calculations accounting for approximately half of the entire SLAM system. This paper presents two methods to accelerate the Oriented FAST feature detection on low-end embedded GPUs. These methods optimize the most time-consuming steps in Oriented FAST feature detection: FAST feature point detection and Harris corner detection, which is achieved by implementing a binary-level encoding strategy to determine candidate points quickly and a separable Harris detection strategy with efficient low-level GPU hardware-specific instructions. Extensive experiments on a Jetson TX2 embedded GPU demonstrate an average speedup of over 7.3 times compared to widely used OpenCV with GPU support. This significant improvement highlights its effectiveness and potential for real-time applications in mobile and resource-constrained environments.

In this paper, we present TalkingMachines -- an efficient framework that transforms pretrained video generation models into real-time, audio-driven character animators. TalkingMachines enables natural conversational experiences by integrating an audio large language model (LLM) with our video generation foundation model. Our primary contributions include: (1) We adapt a pretrained SOTA image-to-video DiT into an audio-driven avatar generation model of 18 billion parameters; (2) We enable infinite video streaming without error accumulation through asymmetric knowledge distillation from a bidirectional teacher model into a sparse causal, autoregressive student model; (3) We design a high-throughput, low-latency inference pipeline incorporating several key engineering optimizations such as: (a) disaggregation of the DiT and VAE decoder across separate devices, (b) efficient overlap of inter-device communication and computation using CUDA streams, (c) elimination of redundant recomputations to maximize frame-generation throughput. NoPain: No-box Point Cloud Attack via Optimal Transport Singular Boundary

Adversarial attacks exploit the vulnerability of deep models against adversarial samples. Existing point cloud attackers are tailored to specific models, iteratively optimizing perturbations based on gradients in either a white-box or black-box setting. Despite their promising attack performance, they often struggle to produce transferable adversarial samples due to overfitting the specific parameters of surrogate models. To overcome this issue, we shift our focus to the data distribution itself and introduce a novel approach named NoPain, which employs optimal transport (OT) to identify the inherent singular boundaries of the data manifold for cross-network point cloud attacks. Specifically, we first calculate the OT mapping from noise to the target feature space, then identify singular boundaries by locating non-differentiable positions. Finally, we sample along singular boundaries to generate adversarial point clouds. Once the singular boundaries are determined, NoPain can efficiently produce adversarial samples without the need of iterative updates or guidance from the surrogate classifiers. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed end-to-end method outperforms baseline approaches in terms of both transferability and efficiency, while also maintaining notable advantages even against defense strategies. Point2Quad: Generating Quad Meshes from Point Clouds via Face Prediction

Quad meshes are essential in geometric modeling and computational mechanics. Although learning-based methods for triangle mesh demonstrate considerable advancements, quad mesh generation remains less explored due to the challenge of ensuring coplanarity, convexity, and quad-only meshes. In this paper, we present Point2Quad, the first learning-based method for quad-only mesh generation from point clouds. The key idea is learning to identify quad mesh with fused pointwise and facewise features. Specifically, Point2Quad begins with a k-NN-based candidate generation considering the coplanarity and squareness. Then, two encoders are followed to extract geometric and topological features that address the challenge of quad-related constraints, especially by combining in-depth quadrilaterals-specific characteristics. Subsequently, the extracted features are fused to train the classifier with a designed compound loss. The final results are derived after the refinement by a quad-specific post-processing. Extensive experiments on both clear and noise data demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of Point2Quad, compared to baseline methods under comprehensive metrics.

CoA: Towards Real Image Dehazing via Compression-and-Adaptation

Learning-based image dehazing algorithms have shown remarkable success in synthetic domains. However, real image dehazing is still in suspense due to computational resource constraints and the diversity of real-world scenes. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an algorithm that excels in both efficiency and adaptability to address real image dehazing effectively. This work proposes a Compression-and-Adaptation (CoA) computational flow to tackle these challenges from a divide-and-conquer perspective. First, model compression is performed in the synthetic domain to develop a compact dehazing parameter space, satisfying efficiency demands. Then, a bilevel adaptation in the real domain is introduced to be fearless in unknown real environments by aggregating the synthetic dehazing capabilities during the learning process. Leveraging a succinct design free from additional constraints, our CoA exhibits domain-irrelevant stability and model-agnostic flexibility, effectively bridging the model chasm between synthetic and real domains to further improve its practical utility. Extensive evaluations and analyses underscore the approach's superiority and effectiveness. The code is publicly available at https://github.com/fyxnl/COA.

Targetless 6DoF Calibration of LiDAR and 2D Scanning Radar Based on Cylindrical Occupancy

Owing to the capability for reliable and all-weather long-range sensing, the fusion of LiDAR and Radar has been widely applied to autonomous vehicles for robust perception. In practical operation, well manually calibrated extrinsic parameters, which are crucial for the fusion of multi-modal sensors, may drift due to the vibration. To address this issue, we present a novel targetless calibration approach, termed LiRaCo, for the extrinsic 6DoF calibration of LiDAR and Radar sensors. Although both types of sensors can obtain geometric information, bridging the geometric correspondences between multi-modal data without any clues of explicit artificial markers is nontrivial, mainly due to the low vertical resolution of scanning Radar. To achieve the targetless calibration, LiRaCo leverages a spatial occupancy consistency between LiDAR point clouds and Radar scans in a common cylindrical representation, considering the increasing data sparsity with distance for both sensors. Specifically, LiRaCo expands the valid Radar scanned pixels into 3D occupancy grids to constrain LiDAR point clouds based on spatial consistency. Consequently, a cost function involving extrinsic calibration parameters is formulated based on the spatial overlap of 3D grids and LiDAR points. Extrinsic parameters are finally estimated by optimizing the cost function. Comprehensive quantitative and qualitative experiments on two real outdoor datasets with different LiDAR sensors demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method. The source code will be publicly available.

ARPES studies of Hf(0001) surface: flat bands formation in the dice lattice

We present the first electronic structure measurements of the Hf(0001) single-crystal surface using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The ARPES results are supported by theoretical calculations performed using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method and the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (KKR) Green function method. In addition to insight into the electronic structure of Hf(0001), our results reveal the impact of surface contamination, particularly oxygen and carbon, on the predicted surface state. Moreover, we observe a flat band induced by both, the presence of oxygen and the dice structure of the surface. The orbital texture of Hf bands is confirmed by linear dichroism studies

Unseen No More: Unlocking the Potential of CLIP for Generative Zero-shot HOI Detection

Zero-shot human-object interaction (HOI) detector is capable of generalizing to HOI categories even not encountered during training. Inspired by the impressive zero-shot capabilities offered by CLIP, latest methods strive to leverage CLIP embeddings for improving zero-shot HOI detection. However, these embedding-based methods train the classifier on seen classes only, inevitably resulting in seen-unseen confusion for the model during inference. Besides, we find that using prompt-tuning and adapters further increases the gap between seen and unseen accuracy. To tackle this challenge, we present the first generation-based model using CLIP for zero-shot HOI detection, coined HOIGen. It allows to unlock the potential of CLIP for feature generation instead of feature extraction only. To achieve it, we develop a CLIP-injected feature generator in accordance with the generation of human, object and union features. Then, we extract realistic features of seen samples and mix them with synthetic features together, allowing the model to train seen and unseen classes jointly. To enrich the HOI scores, we construct a generative prototype bank in a pairwise HOI recognition branch, and a multi-knowledge prototype bank in an image-wise HOI recognition branch, respectively. Extensive experiments on HICO-DET benchmark demonstrate our HOIGen achieves superior performance for both seen and unseen classes under various zero-shot settings, compared with other top-performing methods.
