The space of volume forms

S. Donaldson introduced a metric on the space of volume forms, with fixed total volume on any compact Riemmanian manifold. With this metric, the space of volume forms formally has non-positive curvature. The geodesic equation is a fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic equation. We solve the geodesic equation and its perturbed equation and prove that the space of volume forms is an infinite dimensional non-positively curved metric space in the sense of Alexandrov.

On regularity of complex Monge-Ampere equation

We shall consider the regularity problem of solutions for complex Monge-Ampere equations. First we prove interior $C^2$ estimates of solutions in a bounded domain for complex Monge-Ampere equation with assumption of certain $L^p$ bound for Laplacian u, and of Lipschitz condition on right hand side. Then we shall construct a family of Pogorelov-type examples for complex Monge-Ampere equation. These examples give generalized entire solutions (as well as viscosity solutions) of complex Monge-Ampere equation $\det(u_{i\bar j})=1.

The Calabi flow on Kähler surface with bounded Sobolev constant

We consider the formation of singularities along the Calabi flow with the assumption of the uniform Sobolev constant. In particular, on Kähler surface we show that any "maximal bubble" has to be a scalar flat ALE Kähler metric. In some certain classes on toric Fano surface, the Sobolev constant is a priori bounded along the Calabi flow with small Calabi energy. Also we can show in certain case no maximal bubble can form along the flow, it follows that the curvature tensor is uniformly bounded and the flow exists for all time and converges to an extremal metric subsequently. To illustrate our results more clearly, we focus on an example on CP^2 blown up three points at generic position. Our result also implies existence of constant scalar curvature metrics on CP^2 blown up three points at generic position in the Kähler classes where the exceptional divisors have the same area.

The Calabi flow on toric Fano surface

We prove the longtime existence and convergence of the Calabi flow on toric Fano surfaces in a large family of Kahler classes where the class has positive extremal Hamiltonian potential and the initial Calabi energy is bounded by some constant. This is an extension of our previous work. We use the toric condition in a more essential way to rule out bubbles.

Entire self-similar solutions to Lagrangian Mean curvature flow

We consider self-similar solutions to mean curvature evolution of entire Lagrangian graphs. When the Hessian of the potential function $u$ has eigenvalues strictly uniformly between -1 and 1, we show that on the potential level all the shrinking solitons are quadratic polynomials while the expanding solitons are in one-to-one correspondence to functions of homogenous of degree 2 with the Hessian bound. We also show that if the initial potential function is cone-like at infinity then the scaled flow converges to an expanding soliton as time goes to infinity.

Local solution and extension to the Calabi flow

We consider the local solution to the Calabi flow for C^αinitial metric. We also prove that the Calabi flow on compact Kaehler surfaces can be extended once the metrics along the flow are bounded in L^\infty sense. This can be viewed as obtaining higher order derivative estimates from second order derivatives for a fourth order nonlinear equation.

Lagrangian Mean Curvature flow for entire Lipschitz graphs

We consider the mean curvature flow of entire Lagrangian graphs with Lipschitz continuous initial data. Assuming only a certain bound on the Lipschitz norm of an initial entire Lagrangian graph in $\R^{2n}$, we show that the parabolic equation \eqref{PMA} for the Lagrangian potential has a longtime solution which is smooth for all positive time and satisfies uniform estimates away from time $t=0$. In particular, under the mean curvature flow the graph immediately becomes smooth and the solution exists for all time such that the second fundamental form decays uniformly to 0 on the graph as $t\to \infty$. Our assumption on the Lipschitz norm is equivalent to the assumption that the underlying Lagrangian potential $u$ is uniformly convex with its Hessian bounded in $L^\infty$. We apply this result to prove a Bernstein type theorem for translating solitons, namely that if such an entire Lagrangian graph is a smooth translating soliton, then it must be a flat plane. We also prove convergence of the evolving graphs under additional conditions.

The Donaldson equation

In this short note, we solve a Dirichlet problem for a fully nonlinear elliptic equation. The operator is introduced by S. Donaldson and it is relevant to the geometry of the space of volume forms.

A note on sigular time of mean curvature flow

We show that mean curvature flow of a compact submanifold in a complete Riemannian manifold cannot form singularity at time infinity if the ambient Riemannian manifold has bounded geometry and satisfies certain curvature and volume growth conditions .

On the Calabi flow

We first give a precise statement on the short time existence of the Calabi flow and prove a stability result: any metric near a constant scalar curvature metric will flow to this cscK metric exponentially fast. Secondly, we prove that a compactness theorem in space of the kahler metrics given unifrom Ricci bound and potential bound. As an application, we prove the Calabi flow can be extended once Ricci curvature stays uniformly bounded. Lastly, we prove a removing-sigularity result about a weak constant scalar curveture metric in a punctured ball. One of the main difficulties is that the metric is not assumed to be smooth outside of the singular point.
