$|V_{cb}|$ determinations from $\bar{B} \to D^{(*)} \ell \barν$ decays within the SM and beyond

We investigate the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations from exclusive semi-leptonic $\bar{B} \to D^{(*)}\ell\barν$ decays, together with comprehensive fit analyses of the $\bar{B} \to D^{(*)}$ transition form-factors, by taking into account recent updates of experimental distribution data and theoretical evaluations. Several commonly adopted form-factor parameterizations, including BSZ, BGL and HQET, have been considered under different fit scenarios. We compare the fitted values and study how the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations depend on the form-factor parameterizations and on the treatment of the experimental inputs. In particular, we reproduce the official PDG average of $|V_{cb}|$ with the BGL parameterization, while the HQET parameterization tends to give a smaller value of $|V_{cb}|$. We also consider new-physics effects that can contribute to $\bar{B} \to D^{(*)}\ell\barν$, and examine whether non-zero new-physics contributions are still allowed by the current data.

QCD-factorization amplitudes from flavour symmetries: beyond the $SU(3)$ symmetric case

Using experimental information on branching ratios as well as direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetries, we perform a data-driven analysis of charmless non-leptonic $B \to PP$ decays, where $P$ is any of the light pseudoscalar mesons. Implementing flavour-$SU(3)$ breaking at the level of transition form factors, decay constants and phase space factors, we find a good fit to the current experimental data. Our best-fit point materializes in QCD-factorization amplitudes whose central values resemble many features of the dynamical predictions obtained within the QCD factorization framework. Moreover, we do not find any strong indications that the size of annihilation amplitudes is numerically enhanced beyond the naïve $Λ_{\textrm{QCD}}/m_b$ scaling. Subsequently, we address a number of phenomenological applications, among which are various flavour puzzles that have been persisting in non-leptonic $B$ decays for quite some time.

Phenomenological analysis of the quasi-two-body $B \to D (R\to) K π$ decays in PQCD Approach

The quasi-two-body $B \to D (R\to) K π$ decays are calculated in PQCD approach based on the $k_T$ factorization by introducing the wave functions of $Kπ$ pair associated with the resonances $K^*(892)$, $K_0^*(1430)$ and $K_2^*(1430)$. The results show that most branching fractions are at the order of $10^{-7}$ or even smaller. However, for $B^0\to D^0(K^*\to)Kπ$ decays enhanced by the CKM element $V_{cs}$, their branching fractions are at the order of $10^{-6}$, which are measurable in the current ongoing experiments. Based on the narrow-width-approximation we also extract the branching fractions of the corresponding two-body $B \to D K^*$ decays and the results are in good agreement with previous predictions. Because these decays are only governed by the tree operators, there are no $CP$ asymmetries in these decays in the standard model.

Analysis of CKM-Favored Quasi-Two-Body $B \to D (R\to) K π$ Decays in PQCD Approach

LHCb Collaboration studied the resonant structure of $B_s\to \overline{D}^0K^-π^+$ decays using the Dalitz plot analysis technique, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.0{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision. The $K^-π^+$ components have been analyzed in the amplitude model, where the decay amplitude is modeled to be the resonant contributions with respect to the intermediate resonances $K^*(892)$, $K_0^*(1430)$ and $K_2^*(1430)$. Motivated by the experimental results, we investigate the color-favored quasi-two-body $B \to \overline{D}^0Kπ$ decays in the framework of the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. We calculate the the branching fractions by introducing the appropriate wave functions of $Kπ$ pair. Our results are in agreement well the available data, and others can be tested in LHCb and Belle-II experiments. Using the narrow-width-approximation, we also extract the branching fractions of the corresponding two-body $B\to \overline D R$ decays, which agree to the previous theoretical calculations and the experimental data within the errors. There are no $CP$ asymmetries in these decays in the standard model, because these decays are all governed by only the tree operators.
