Magnetic hopfions at room temperature

Hopfions are three-dimensional (3D) topological solitons predicted to exist in diverse magnetic systems, yet their practical utility has been largely restricted to cryogenic environments. Here, we overcome this temperature constraint by demonstrating stable magnetic hopfions in the chiral magnet Co8Zn8Mn4 at and above room temperature. Using a transmission electron microscope equipped for in situ optical excitation, we generate magnetic hopfions with femtosecond laser pulses. Long-term observations further reveal Brownian-like motion at room temperature and thermally activated collapse upon approaching the high-temperature regime. Together with micromagnetic simulations and homotopy group analysis, our experimental observations uncover the hopfion formation mechanism through the fusion of bimeron pairs. These findings establish room-temperature magnetic hopfions and provide a framework for their further studies under technologically relevant conditions.

Spectroscopic origin of giant anomalous Hall effect in an interwoven magnetic kagome metal

The discovery of a giant anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and its novel mechanism holds significant promise for advancing both fundamental research and practical applications. Magnetic kagome lattice materials are uniquely suited for studying the AHE due to their interplay between electronic structure, topology, and magnetism. However, the geometric frustration inherent in kagome lattices often limits the configuration and tunability of magnetic order. Here, we present a new design strategy for kagome-lattice materials with emergent magnetism, exemplified by the magnetic kagome metal TbTi$_3$Bi$_4$, which features interwoven magnetic Tb zigzag chains and non-magnetic Ti kagome bilayers. This material exhibits a record-high anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) of 10$^5$ $Ω^{-1}$ cm$^{-1}$. Spectroscopy measurements reveal a large band folding gap observed via angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, coexisting spin-density-wave (SDW) order detected through spin-polarized scanning tunneling spectroscopy, and a spiral magnetic order with large magnetic moments identified by neutron diffraction. These findings highlight a strong electron-magnetic coupling between itinerant charges and ordered magnetic moments, offering a spectroscopic explanation for the giant AHC in TbTi$_3$Bi$_4$. This work establishes a pathway for innovative material design strategies, unlocking new possibilities for future exploration and applications in quantum and spintronic technologies.

Interactive Physically-Based Simulation of Roadheader Robot

Roadheader is an engineering robot widely used in underground engineering and mining industry. Interactive dynamics simulation of roadheader is a fundamental problem in unmanned excavation and virtual reality training. However, current research is only based on traditional animation techniques or commercial game engines. There are few studies that apply real-time physical simulation of computer graphics to the field of roadheader robot. This paper aims to present an interactive physically-based simulation system of roadheader robot. To this end, an improved multibody simulation method based on generalized coordinates is proposed. First, our simulation method describes robot dynamics based on generalized coordinates. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, our method is more stable and accurate. Numerical simulation results showed that our method has significantly less error than the game engine in the same number of iterations. Second, we adopt the symplectic Euler integrator instead of the conventional fourth-order Runge-Kutta (RK4) method for dynamics iteration. Compared with other integrators, our method is more stable in energy drift during long-term simulation. The test results showed that our system achieved real-time interaction performance of 60 frames per second (fps). Furthermore, we propose a model format for geometric and robotics modeling of roadheaders to implement the system. Our interactive simulation system of roadheader meets the requirements of interactivity, accuracy and stability.
