OccGaussian: 3D Gaussian Splatting for Occluded Human Rendering

Rendering dynamic 3D human from monocular videos is crucial for various applications such as virtual reality and digital entertainment. Most methods assume the people is in an unobstructed scene, while various objects may cause the occlusion of body parts in real-life scenarios. Previous method utilizing NeRF for surface rendering to recover the occluded areas, but it requiring more than one day to train and several seconds to render, failing to meet the requirements of real-time interactive applications. To address these issues, we propose OccGaussian based on 3D Gaussian Splatting, which can be trained within 6 minutes and produces high-quality human renderings up to 160 FPS with occluded input. OccGaussian initializes 3D Gaussian distributions in the canonical space, and we perform occlusion feature query at occluded regions, the aggregated pixel-align feature is extracted to compensate for the missing information. Then we use Gaussian Feature MLP to further process the feature along with the occlusion-aware loss functions to better perceive the occluded area. Extensive experiments both in simulated and real-world occlusions, demonstrate that our method achieves comparable or even superior performance compared to the state-of-the-art method. And we improving training and inference speeds by 250x and 800x, respectively. Our code will be available for research purposes.

Decoupling Appearance Variations with 3D Consistent Features in Gaussian Splatting

Gaussian Splatting has emerged as a prominent 3D representation in novel view synthesis, but it still suffers from appearance variations, which are caused by various factors, such as modern camera ISPs, different time of day, weather conditions, and local light changes. These variations can lead to floaters and color distortions in the rendered images/videos. Recent appearance modeling approaches in Gaussian Splatting are either tightly coupled with the rendering process, hindering real-time rendering, or they only account for mild global variations, performing poorly in scenes with local light changes. In this paper, we propose DAVIGS, a method that decouples appearance variations in a plug-and-play and efficient manner. By transforming the rendering results at the image level instead of the Gaussian level, our approach can model appearance variations with minimal optimization time and memory overhead. Furthermore, our method gathers appearance-related information in 3D space to transform the rendered images, thus building 3D consistency across views implicitly. We validate our method on several appearance-variant scenes, and demonstrate that it achieves state-of-the-art rendering quality with minimal training time and memory usage, without compromising rendering speeds. Additionally, it provides performance improvements for different Gaussian Splatting baselines in a plug-and-play manner.

DiffStereo: High-Frequency Aware Diffusion Model for Stereo Image Restoration

Diffusion models (DMs) have achieved promising performance in image restoration but haven't been explored for stereo images. The application of DM in stereo image restoration is confronted with a series of challenges. The need to reconstruct two images exacerbates DM's computational cost. Additionally, existing latent DMs usually focus on semantic information and remove high-frequency details as redundancy during latent compression, which is precisely what matters for image restoration. To address the above problems, we propose a high-frequency aware diffusion model, DiffStereo for stereo image restoration as the first attempt at DM in this domain. Specifically, DiffStereo first learns latent high-frequency representations (LHFR) of HQ images. DM is then trained in the learned space to estimate LHFR for stereo images, which are fused into a transformer-based stereo image restoration network providing beneficial high-frequency information of corresponding HQ images. The resolution of LHFR is kept the same as input images, which preserves the inherent texture from distortion. And the compression in channels alleviates the computational burden of DM. Furthermore, we devise a position encoding scheme when integrating the LHFR into the restoration network, enabling distinctive guidance in different depths of the restoration network. Comprehensive experiments verify that by combining generative DM and transformer, DiffStereo achieves both higher reconstruction accuracy and better perceptual quality on stereo super-resolution, deblurring, and low-light enhancement compared with state-of-the-art methods.

FFAA: Multimodal Large Language Model based Explainable Open-World Face Forgery Analysis Assistant

The rapid advancement of deepfake technologies has sparked widespread public concern, particularly as face forgery poses a serious threat to public information security. However, the unknown and diverse forgery techniques, varied facial features and complex environmental factors pose significant challenges for face forgery analysis. Existing datasets lack descriptive annotations of these aspects, making it difficult for models to distinguish between real and forged faces using only visual information amid various confounding factors. In addition, existing methods fail to yield user-friendly and explainable results, hindering the understanding of the model's decision-making process. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel Open-World Face Forgery Analysis VQA (OW-FFA-VQA) task and its corresponding benchmark. To tackle this task, we first establish a dataset featuring a diverse collection of real and forged face images with essential descriptions and reliable forgery reasoning. Based on this dataset, we introduce FFAA: Face Forgery Analysis Assistant, consisting of a fine-tuned Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) and Multi-answer Intelligent Decision System (MIDS). By integrating hypothetical prompts with MIDS, the impact of fuzzy classification boundaries is effectively mitigated, enhancing model robustness. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method not only provides user-friendly and explainable results but also significantly boosts accuracy and robustness compared to previous methods.

CATCH: Complementary Adaptive Token-level Contrastive Decoding to Mitigate Hallucinations in LVLMs

Large Vision-Language Model (LVLM) systems have demonstrated impressive vision-language reasoning capabilities but suffer from pervasive and severe hallucination issues, posing significant risks in critical domains such as healthcare and autonomous systems. Despite previous efforts to mitigate hallucinations, a persistent issue remains: visual defect from vision-language misalignment, creating a bottleneck in visual processing capacity. To address this challenge, we develop Complementary Adaptive Token-level Contrastive Decoding to Mitigate Hallucinations in LVLMs (CATCH), based on the Information Bottleneck theory. CATCH introduces Complementary Visual Decoupling (CVD) for visual information separation, Non-Visual Screening (NVS) for hallucination detection, and Adaptive Token-level Contrastive Decoding (ATCD) for hallucination mitigation. CATCH addresses issues related to visual defects that cause diminished fine-grained feature perception and cumulative hallucinations in open-ended scenarios. It is applicable to various visual question-answering tasks without requiring any specific data or prior knowledge, and generalizes robustly to new tasks without additional training, opening new possibilities for advancing LVLM in various challenging applications.

MiniFed : Integrating LLM-based Agentic-Workflow for Simulating FOMC Meeting

The Federal Funds rate in the United States plays a significant role in both domestic and international financial markets. However, research has predominantly focused on the effects of adjustments to the Federal Funds rate rather than on the decision-making process itself. Recent advancements in large language models(LLMs) offer a potential method for reconstructing the original FOMC meetings, which are responsible for setting the Federal Funds rate. In this paper, we propose a five-stage FOMC meeting simulation framework, MiniFed, which employs LLM agents to simulate real-world FOMC meeting members and optimize the FOMC structure. This framework effectively revitalizes the FOMC meeting process and facilitates projections of the Federal Funds rate. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed MiniFed framework achieves both high accuracy in Federal Funds rate projections and behavioral alignment with the agents' real-world counterparts. Given that few studies have focused on employing LLM agents to simulate large-scale real-world conferences, our work can serve as a benchmark for future developments.

CONSULT: Contrastive Self-Supervised Learning for Few-shot Tumor Detection

Artificial intelligence aids in brain tumor detection via MRI scans, enhancing the accuracy and reducing the workload of medical professionals. However, in scenarios with extremely limited medical images, traditional deep learning approaches tend to fail due to the absence of anomalous images. Anomaly detection also suffers from ineffective feature extraction due to vague training process. Our work introduces a novel two-stage anomaly detection algorithm called CONSULT (CONtrastive Self-sUpervised Learning for few-shot Tumor detection). The first stage of CONSULT fine-tunes a pre-trained feature extractor specifically for MRI brain images, using a synthetic data generation pipeline to create tumor-like data. This process overcomes the lack of anomaly samples and enables the integration of attention mechanisms to focus on anomalous image segments. The first stage is to overcome the shortcomings of current anomaly detection in extracting features in high-variation data by incorporating Context-Aware Contrastive Learning and Self-supervised Feature Adversarial Learning. The second stage of CONSULT uses PatchCore for conventional feature extraction via the fine-tuned weights from the first stage. To summarize, we propose a self-supervised training scheme for anomaly detection, enhancing model performance and data reliability. Furthermore, our proposed contrastive loss, Tritanh Loss, stabilizes learning by offering a unique solution all while enhancing gradient flow. Finally, CONSULT achieves superior performance in few-shot brain tumor detection, demonstrating significant improvements over PatchCore by 9.4%, 12.9%, 10.2%, and 6.0% for 2, 4, 6, and 8 shots, respectively, while training exclusively on healthy images.

RICASSO: Reinforced Imbalance Learning with Class-Aware Self-Supervised Outliers Exposure

In real-world scenarios, deep learning models often face challenges from both imbalanced (long-tailed) and out-of-distribution (OOD) data. However, existing joint methods rely on real OOD data, which leads to unnecessary trade-offs. In contrast, our research shows that data mixing, a potent augmentation technique for long-tailed recognition, can generate pseudo-OOD data that exhibit the features of both in-distribution (ID) data and OOD data. Therefore, by using mixed data instead of real OOD data, we can address long-tailed recognition and OOD detection holistically. We propose a unified framework called Reinforced Imbalance Learning with Class-Aware Self-Supervised Outliers Exposure (RICASSO), where "self-supervised" denotes that we only use ID data for outlier exposure. RICASSO includes three main strategies: Norm-Odd-Duality-Based Outlier Exposure: Uses mixed data as pseudo-OOD data, enabling simultaneous ID data rebalancing and outlier exposure through a single loss function. Ambiguity-Aware Logits Adjustment: Utilizes the ambiguity of ID data to adaptively recalibrate logits. Contrastive Boundary-Center Learning: Combines Virtual Boundary Learning and Dual-Entropy Center Learning to use mixed data for better feature separation and clustering, with Representation Consistency Learning for robustness. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RICASSO achieves state-of-the-art performance in long-tailed recognition and significantly improves OOD detection compared to our baseline (27% improvement in AUROC and 61% reduction in FPR on the iNaturalist2018 dataset). On iNaturalist2018, we even outperforms methods using real OOD data. The code will be made public soon.

Rethinking 6-Dof Grasp Detection: A Flexible Framework for High-Quality Grasping

Robotic grasping is a primitive skill for complex tasks and is fundamental to intelligence. For general 6-Dof grasping, most previous methods directly extract scene-level semantic or geometric information, while few of them consider the suitability for various downstream applications, such as target-oriented grasping. Addressing this issue, we rethink 6-Dof grasp detection from a grasp-centric view and propose a versatile grasp framework capable of handling both scene-level and target-oriented grasping. Our framework, FlexLoG, is composed of a Flexible Guidance Module and a Local Grasp Model. Specifically, the Flexible Guidance Module is compatible with both global (e.g., grasp heatmap) and local (e.g., visual grounding) guidance, enabling the generation of high-quality grasps across various tasks. The Local Grasp Model focuses on object-agnostic regional points and predicts grasps locally and intently. Experiment results reveal that our framework achieves over 18% and 23% improvement on unseen splits of the GraspNet-1Billion Dataset. Furthermore, real-world robotic tests in three distinct settings yield a 95% success rate.

Motion-aware Latent Diffusion Models for Video Frame Interpolation

With the advancement of AIGC, video frame interpolation (VFI) has become a crucial component in existing video generation frameworks, attracting widespread research interest. For the VFI task, the motion estimation between neighboring frames plays a crucial role in avoiding motion ambiguity. However, existing VFI methods always struggle to accurately predict the motion information between consecutive frames, and this imprecise estimation leads to blurred and visually incoherent interpolated frames. In this paper, we propose a novel diffusion framework, motion-aware latent diffusion models (MADiff), which is specifically designed for the VFI task. By incorporating motion priors between the conditional neighboring frames with the target interpolated frame predicted throughout the diffusion sampling procedure, MADiff progressively refines the intermediate outcomes, culminating in generating both visually smooth and realistic results. Extensive experiments conducted on benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance significantly outperforming existing approaches, especially under challenging scenarios involving dynamic textures with complex motion.

GaussianSR: High Fidelity 2D Gaussian Splatting for Arbitrary-Scale Image Super-Resolution

Implicit neural representations (INRs) have significantly advanced the field of arbitrary-scale super-resolution (ASSR) of images. Most existing INR-based ASSR networks first extract features from the given low-resolution image using an encoder, and then render the super-resolved result via a multi-layer perceptron decoder. Although these approaches have shown promising results, their performance is constrained by the limited representation ability of discrete latent codes in the encoded features. In this paper, we propose a novel ASSR method named GaussianSR that overcomes this limitation through 2D Gaussian Splatting (2DGS). Unlike traditional methods that treat pixels as discrete points, GaussianSR represents each pixel as a continuous Gaussian field. The encoded features are simultaneously refined and upsampled by rendering the mutually stacked Gaussian fields. As a result, long-range dependencies are established to enhance representation ability. In addition, a classifier is developed to dynamically assign Gaussian kernels to all pixels to further improve flexibility. All components of GaussianSR (i.e., encoder, classifier, Gaussian kernels, and decoder) are jointly learned end-to-end. Experiments demonstrate that GaussianSR achieves superior ASSR performance with fewer parameters than existing methods while enjoying interpretable and content-aware feature aggregations.

LLM-Empowered State Representation for Reinforcement Learning

Conventional state representations in reinforcement learning often omit critical task-related details, presenting a significant challenge for value networks in establishing accurate mappings from states to task rewards. Traditional methods typically depend on extensive sample learning to enrich state representations with task-specific information, which leads to low sample efficiency and high time costs. Recently, surging knowledgeable large language models (LLM) have provided promising substitutes for prior injection with minimal human intervention. Motivated by this, we propose LLM-Empowered State Representation (LESR), a novel approach that utilizes LLM to autonomously generate task-related state representation codes which help to enhance the continuity of network mappings and facilitate efficient training. Experimental results demonstrate LESR exhibits high sample efficiency and outperforms state-of-the-art baselines by an average of 29% in accumulated reward in Mujoco tasks and 30% in success rates in Gym-Robotics tasks.

Perspective+ Unet: Enhancing Segmentation with Bi-Path Fusion and Efficient Non-Local Attention for Superior Receptive Fields

Precise segmentation of medical images is fundamental for extracting critical clinical information, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing the accuracy of diagnoses, formulating effective treatment plans, and improving patient outcomes. Although Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and non-local attention methods have achieved notable success in medical image segmentation, they either struggle to capture long-range spatial dependencies due to their reliance on local features, or face significant computational and feature integration challenges when attempting to address this issue with global attention mechanisms. To overcome existing limitations in medical image segmentation, we propose a novel architecture, Perspective+ Unet. This framework is characterized by three major innovations: (i) It introduces a dual-pathway strategy at the encoder stage that combines the outcomes of traditional and dilated convolutions. This not only maintains the local receptive field but also significantly expands it, enabling better comprehension of the global structure of images while retaining detail sensitivity. (ii) The framework incorporates an efficient non-local transformer block, named ENLTB, which utilizes kernel function approximation for effective long-range dependency capture with linear computational and spatial complexity. (iii) A Spatial Cross-Scale Integrator strategy is employed to merge global dependencies and local contextual cues across model stages, meticulously refining features from various levels to harmonize global and local information. Experimental results on the ACDC and Synapse datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed Perspective+ Unet. The code is available in the supplementary material.

BDC-Occ: Binarized Deep Convolution Unit For Binarized Occupancy Network

Existing 3D occupancy networks demand significant hardware resources, hindering the deployment of edge devices. Binarized Neural Networks (BNN) offer substantially reduced computational and memory requirements. However, their performance decreases notably compared to full-precision networks. Moreover, it is challenging to enhance the performance of binarized models by increasing the number of binarized convolutional layers, which limits their practicability for 3D occupancy prediction. To bridge these gaps, we propose a novel binarized deep convolution (BDC) unit that effectively enhances performance while increasing the number of binarized convolutional layers. Firstly, through theoretical analysis, we demonstrate that 1 \times 1 binarized convolutions introduce minimal binarization errors. Therefore, additional binarized convolutional layers are constrained to 1 \times 1 in the BDC unit. Secondly, we introduce the per-channel weight branch to mitigate the impact of binarization errors from unimportant channel features on the performance of binarized models, thereby improving performance while increasing the number of binarized convolutional layers. Furthermore, we decompose the 3D occupancy network into four convolutional modules and utilize the proposed BDC unit to binarize these modules. Our BDC-Occ model is created by applying the proposed BDC unit to binarize the existing 3D occupancy networks. Comprehensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that the proposed BDC-Occ is the state-of-the-art binarized 3D occupancy network algorithm.

Bilateral Event Mining and Complementary for Event Stream Super-Resolution

Event Stream Super-Resolution (ESR) aims to address the challenge of insufficient spatial resolution in event streams, which holds great significance for the application of event cameras in complex scenarios. Previous works for ESR often process positive and negative events in a mixed paradigm. This paradigm limits their ability to effectively model the unique characteristics of each event and mutually refine each other by considering their correlations. In this paper, we propose a bilateral event mining and complementary network (BMCNet) to fully leverage the potential of each event and capture the shared information to complement each other simultaneously. Specifically, we resort to a two-stream network to accomplish comprehensive mining of each type of events individually. To facilitate the exchange of information between two streams, we propose a bilateral information exchange (BIE) module. This module is layer-wisely embedded between two streams, enabling the effective propagation of hierarchical global information while alleviating the impact of invalid information brought by inherent characteristics of events. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the previous state-of-the-art methods in ESR, achieving performance improvements of over 11\% on both real and synthetic datasets. Moreover, our method significantly enhances the performance of event-based downstream tasks such as object recognition and video reconstruction. Efficient Heatmap-Guided 6-Dof Grasp Detection in Cluttered Scenes

Fast and robust object grasping in clutter is a crucial component of robotics. Most current works resort to the whole observed point cloud for 6-Dof grasp generation, ignoring the guidance information excavated from global semantics, thus limiting high-quality grasp generation and real-time performance. In this work, we show that the widely used heatmaps are underestimated in the efficiency of 6-Dof grasp generation. Therefore, we propose an effective local grasp generator combined with grasp heatmaps as guidance, which infers in a global-to-local semantic-to-point way. Specifically, Gaussian encoding and the grid-based strategy are applied to predict grasp heatmaps as guidance to aggregate local points into graspable regions and provide global semantic information. Further, a novel non-uniform anchor sampling mechanism is designed to improve grasp accuracy and diversity. Benefiting from the high-efficiency encoding in the image space and focusing on points in local graspable regions, our framework can perform high-quality grasp detection in real-time and achieve state-of-the-art results. In addition, real robot experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method with a success rate of 94% and a clutter completion rate of 100%. RTMO: Towards High-Performance One-Stage Real-Time Multi-Person Pose Estimation

Real-time multi-person pose estimation presents significant challenges in balancing speed and precision. While two-stage top-down methods slow down as the number of people in the image increases, existing one-stage methods often fail to simultaneously deliver high accuracy and real-time performance. This paper introduces RTMO, a one-stage pose estimation framework that seamlessly integrates coordinate classification by representing keypoints using dual 1-D heatmaps within the YOLO architecture, achieving accuracy comparable to top-down methods while maintaining high speed. We propose a dynamic coordinate classifier and a tailored loss function for heatmap learning, specifically designed to address the incompatibilities between coordinate classification and dense prediction models. RTMO outperforms state-of-the-art one-stage pose estimators, achieving 1.1% higher AP on COCO while operating about 9 times faster with the same backbone. Our largest model, RTMO-l, attains 74.8% AP on COCO val2017 and 141 FPS on a single V100 GPU, demonstrating its efficiency and accuracy. The code and models are available at https://github.com/open-mmlab/mmpose/tree/main/projects/rtmo.

Residual Dense Swin Transformer for Continuous Depth-Independent Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound imaging is crucial for evaluating organ morphology and function, yet depth adjustment can degrade image quality and field-of-view, presenting a depth-dependent dilemma. Traditional interpolation-based zoom-in techniques often sacrifice detail and introduce artifacts. Motivated by the potential of arbitrary-scale super-resolution to naturally address these inherent challenges, we present the Residual Dense Swin Transformer Network (RDSTN), designed to capture the non-local characteristics and long-range dependencies intrinsic to ultrasound images. It comprises a linear embedding module for feature enhancement, an encoder with shifted-window attention for modeling non-locality, and an MLP decoder for continuous detail reconstruction. This strategy streamlines balancing image quality and field-of-view, which offers superior textures over traditional methods. Experimentally, RDSTN outperforms existing approaches while requiring fewer parameters. In conclusion, RDSTN shows promising potential for ultrasound image enhancement by overcoming the limitations of conventional interpolation-based methods and achieving depth-independent imaging.
