Explorations of Universality in the Entropy and Hawking Radiation of Non-Extremal Kerr AdS$_4$ Black Holes

We comprehensively discuss various microscopic approaches to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for rotating, electrically charged, asymptotically AdS$_4$ non-extremal black holes in gauged supergravity. We apply the covariant phase space formalism to the near-horizon region to obtain a Cardy-formula-based microscopic explanation for the entropy, consistent with the Kerr/CFT correspondence. From the dual boundary CFT point of view, we estimate the free partition function in the matrix model approximation in the high-temperature regime and find qualitative agreement with the supergravity answer. All these different approaches match in the appropriate limits and support the universality of AdS black hole entropy even at high temperatures, far away from extremality. Prompted by the consistency of the results of statistical explanations for the AdS$_4$ black hole entropy, we discuss aspects of the rate of Hawking radiation at high temperatures from the CFT$_2$ perspective and found it to be universally proportional to the horizon area.

Supersymmetric Spectral Form Factor of ABJM Theory

We investigate the large-N index analog of the spectrum form factor for ABJM theory in the microcanonical ensemble. In the Cardy-like limit, the most dominant saddle describing the dual black hole decays rapidly at early times. However, the late-time behavior of the spectral form factor is determined by multi-cut saddles, which prevent it from decaying.

Quantum-Corrected Holographic Wilson Loop Expectation Values and Super-Yang-Mills Confinement

Confinement is a well-known phenomenon in the infrared regime of (supersymmetric) Yang-Mills theory. While both experimental observations and numerical simulations have robustly confirmed its existence, the underlying physical mechanism remains elusive. Unraveling the theoretical origin of confinement continues to be a profound and longstanding challenge in both physics and mathematics. Motivated by recent advances in quantum Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity, we investigate the Wilson loop expectation values in the large-$N$ limit of $\mathscr{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory at finite chemical potential, employing a holographic approach within the background of an extremal AdS$_5$ Reissner-Nordström black brane. Our results reveal that quantum gravitational fluctuations in the near-horizon region significantly modify the holographic Wilson loop expectation values. These values exhibit an area-law behavior, indicative of a confining quark-antiquark potential. Within this framework, our findings suggest that confinement in the super-Yang-Mills theory arises as a consequence of near-horizon quantum gravity fluctuations in the bulk extremal AdS$_5$ black brane geometry.

Analytic AC conductivities from holography

We find exact, analytic solutions of the holographic AC conductivity at arbitrary frequency $ω$ and temperature $T$, in contrast to previous works where the AC conductivity was analytically obtained usually at small $ω$ and $T$. These solutions enable us to study the analyticity properties of the current-current correlator $G(ω)$ in detail. The first system we study is the AdS$_5$ planar black hole with momentum dissipation, whose extremal limit has an AdS$_2$ factor. Then we study AdS$_4$ and AdS$_5$ Einstein-dilaton systems whose special cases are maximal gauged supergravities. The solutions show how the poles move and how branch cuts emerge as the temperature varies. As a byproduct, we obtain an R-current correlator in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory on a sphere at finite temperature in the large $N$ and strong coupling limit.

Fast B-spline Curve Fitting by L-BFGS

We propose a novel method for fitting planar B-spline curves to unorganized data points. In traditional methods, optimization of control points and foot points are performed in two very time-consuming steps in each iteration: 1) control points are updated by setting up and solving a linear system of equations; and 2) foot points are computed by projecting each data point onto a B-spline curve. Our method uses the L-BFGS optimization method to optimize control points and foot points simultaneously and therefore it does not need to perform either matrix computation or foot point projection in every iteration. As a result, our method is much faster than existing methods.
