Nonlocal Nonlinear Control of Photonic Spin Hall Effect in Strongly Interacting Rydberg Media

We present a theoretical study demonstrating enhanced tunability of the photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE) using a strongly interacting Rydberg atomic medium under electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) conditions. In contrast to conventional approaches that rely on static refractiveindex profiles or metamaterials, here the PSHE is controlled via a nonlocal third-order nonlinear susceptibility arising from long range Rydberg-Rydberg interactions. We show that this nonlocal nonlinearity enables dynamic modulation of spin-dependent light trajectories, amplifying the normally weak PSHE into a readily observable and adjustable effect. These results pave the way for new capabilities in photonic information processing and sensing. In particular, an adjustable PSHE may enable beam steering based on photon spin, improve the sensitivity of precision measurements, and support photonic devices whose functionality can be reconfigured in real time.

Reducing Action Space for Deep Reinforcement Learning via Causal Effect Estimation

Intelligent decision-making within large and redundant action spaces remains challenging in deep reinforcement learning. Considering similar but ineffective actions at each step can lead to repetitive and unproductive trials. Existing methods attempt to improve agent exploration by reducing or penalizing redundant actions, yet they fail to provide quantitative and reliable evidence to determine redundancy. In this paper, we propose a method to improve exploration efficiency by estimating the causal effects of actions. Unlike prior methods, our approach offers quantitative results regarding the causality of actions for one-step transitions. We first pre-train an inverse dynamics model to serve as prior knowledge of the environment. Subsequently, we classify actions across the entire action space at each time step and estimate the causal effect of each action to suppress redundant actions during exploration. We provide a theoretical analysis to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and present empirical results from simulations in environments with redundant actions to evaluate its performance. Our implementation is available at https://github.com/agi-brain/cee.git.

Generating Grating in Cavity Magnomechanics

We investigate the phenomenon of magnomechanically induced grating (MMIG) within a cavity magnomechanical system, comprising magnons (spins in a ferromagnet, such as yttrium iron garnet), cavity microwave photons, and phonons [\textit{J. Li, S.-Y. Zhu, and G. S. Agarwal, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{121}, 203601 (2018)}]. By applying an external standing wave control, we observe modifications in the transmission profile of a probe light beam, signifying the presence of MMIG. Through numerical analysis, we explore the diffraction intensities of the probe field, examining the impact of interactions between cavity magnons, magnon-phonon interactions, standing wave field strength, and interaction length. MMIG systems leverage the unique properties of magnons, and collective spin excitations with attributes like long coherence times and spin-wave propagation. These distinctive features can be harnessed in MMIG systems for innovative applications in information storage, retrieval, and quantum memories, offering various orders of diffraction grating.

Simulation of a Heisenberg XY- chain and realization of a perfect state transfer algorithm using liquid nuclear magnetic resonance

The three- spin chain with Heisenberg XY- interaction is simulated in a three- qubit nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) quantum computer. The evolution caused by the XY- interaction is decomposed into a series of single- spin rotations and the $J$- coupling evolutions between the neighboring spins. The perfect state transfer (PST) algorithm proposed by M. Christandl et al [Phys. Rev. Lett, 92, 187902(2004)] is realized in the XY- chain.

Modularization of multi-qubit controlled phase gate and its NMR implementation

Quantum circuit network is a set of circuits that implements a certain computation task. Being at the center of the quantum circuit network, the multi-qubit controlled phase shift is one of the most important quantum gates. In this paper, we apply the method of modular structuring in classical computer architecture to quantum computer and give a recursive realization of the multi-qubit phase gate. This realization of the controlled phase shift gate is convenient in realizing certain quantum algorithms. We have experimentally implemented this modularized multi-qubit controlled phase gate in a three qubit nuclear magnetic resonance quantum system. The network is demonstrated experimentally using line selective pulses in nuclear magnetic resonance technique. The procedure has the advantage of being simple and easy to implement.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Implementation of a Quantum Clock Synchronization Algorithm

The quantum clock synchronization algorithm proposed by I. L. Chuang (Phys. Rev. Lett, 85, 2006(2000)) has been implemented in a three qubit nuclear magnetic resonance quantum system. The effective-pure state is prepared by the spatial averaging approach. The time difference between two separated clocks can be determined by reading out directly through the NMR spectra.
