Lightweight Multi-Vehicle Collaborative Perception Acceleration with Fusion Position Adjustment

Multi-vehicle collaborative perception (MvCP) is considered as a key technology to facilitate automated driving (AD), where real-time MvCP under limited resources is significant for reliable AD. In this paper, we formulate a lightweight acceleration scheme for intermediate-fusion (IF) MvCP, which can adapt to both situations of limited computation and communication resources. We provide a relaxed definition conditional additivity and analyze the conditional additivity for various DNN linear layers. On this basis, we focus on the IF-MvCP based on additive feature fusion, and derive the MvCP precision consistency of the forward and backward feature fusion position (FP) adjustments among linear layers. Through experiments, we further validate the precision consistency of the FP adjustment method. Moreover, we propose an FP adjustment among linear layers (FALL) scheme for MvCP acceleration without precision loss theoretically. Simulation results show that the proposed FALL can reduce MvCP latency by up to 74.8% under limited communication resources and by up to 30.3% under limited computation resources.

Edge Cloud Collaborative Stream Computing for Real-Time Structural Health Monitoring

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is crucial for the safety and maintenance of various infrastructures. Due to the large amount of data generated by numerous sensors and the high real-time requirements of many applications, SHM poses significant challenges. Although the cloud-centric stream computing paradigm opens new opportunities for real-time data processing, it consumes too much network bandwidth. In this paper, we propose ECStream, an Edge Cloud collaborative fine-grained stream operator scheduling framework for SHM. We collectively consider atomic and composite operators together with their iterative computability to model and formalize the problem of minimizing bandwidth usage and end-to-end operator processing latency. Preliminary evaluation results show that ECStream can effectively balance bandwidth usage and end-to-end operator computation latency, reducing bandwidth usage by 73.01% and latency by 34.08% on average compared to the cloud-centric approach.

Observation of a symmetry-protected topological phase in external magnetic fields

Topological phases have greatly improved our understanding of modern conception of phases of matter that go beyond the paradigm of symmetry breaking and are not described by local order parameters. Instead, characterization of topological phases requires the robust topological invariants, whereas measuring these global quantities presents an outstanding challenge for experiments, especially in interacting systems. Here we report the real-space observation of a symmetry-protected topological phase with interacting nuclear spins, and probe the interaction-induced transition between two topologically distinct phases, both of which are classified by many-body Chern numbers obtained from the dynamical response to the external magnetic fields. The resulting value of Chern number ($\bar{\mathcal{C}h} = 1.958 \pm 0.070$) demonstrates the robust ground state degeneracy, and also determines the number of nontrivial edge states. Our findings enable direct characterization of topological features of quantum many-body states through gradually decreasing the strength of the introduced external fields.

Insight-HXMT observations of Swift J0243.6+6124 during its 2017-2018 outburst

The recently discovered neutron star transient Swift J0243.6+6124 has been monitored by {\it the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope} ({\it Insight-\rm HXMT). Based on the obtained data, we investigate the broadband spectrum of the source throughout the outburst. We estimate the broadband flux of the source and search for possible cyclotron line in the broadband spectrum. No evidence of line-like features is, however, found up to $\rm 150~keV$. In the absence of any cyclotron line in its energy spectrum, we estimate the magnetic field of the source based on the observed spin evolution of the neutron star by applying two accretion torque models. In both cases, we get consistent results with $B\rm \sim 10^{13}~G$, $D\rm \sim 6~kpc$ and peak luminosity of $\rm >10^{39}~erg~s^{-1}$ which makes the source the first Galactic ultraluminous X-ray source hosting a neutron star.

Upgraded Photometric System of The 85-cm Telescope at Xinglong Station

The 85-cm telescope at the Xinglong station is a well-operated prime focus system with high science outputs. The telescope has been upgraded since 2014 with new corrector, filters and camera, which are provided by Beijing Normal University (BNU). The filter set is Johnson-Cousins UBVRI system. We report the test results of the new system including the bias, dark current, linearity, gain and readout noise of the CCD camera . Then we derive accurate instrumental calibration coefficients in UBVRI bands with Landolt standard stars in the photometric nights. Finally, we give the limiting magnitudes with various exposure time and signal-to-noise ratio for observers as references.
