Stable deformed $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ homology of torus knots

We compute the $E_2$ page in the Rasmussen spectral sequence from triply graded to $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ Khovanov--Rozansky stable homology of torus knots. This confirms a weak form of the conjecture of the second author, Oblomkov, and Rasmussen. The main tool is the link-splitting deformation, or $y$-ification, of link homology; in the $y$-ified context, the relevant Rasmussen spectral sequence collapses and we explicitly compute the $y$-ified $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ stable Khovanov--Rozansky homology of torus knots for all $N$.

Configurations of spheres in $\#^n \mathbb{C} P^2$

By taking the complements of embeddings of sphere plumbings in connected sums of $\mathbb{C} P^2$, we construct examples of simply connected four-manifolds with lens space boundary and $b_2 = 1$. The resulting boundaries include many lens spaces that cannot come from integer surgery on any knot in $S^3$, so the corresponding four-manifolds cannot be built by attaching a single two-handle to $B^4$. Using similar constructions, we give an example of an embedded sphere in $\#^4 \mathbb{C} P^2$ with self-intersection number $20$, and conjecture that this is the maximum possible.

A family of concordance homomorphisms from Khovanov homology

By considering a version of Khovanov homology incorporating both the Lee and $E(-1)$ differentials, we construct a $1$-parameter family of concordance homomorphisms similar to the Upsilon invariant from knot Floer homology. This invariant gives lower bounds on the slice genus and can be used to prove that certain infinite families of pretzel knots are linearly independent in the smooth concordance group.

The prism manifold realization problem III

Every prism manifold can be parametrized by a pair of relatively prime integers $p>1$ and $q$. In our earlier papers, we determined a complete list of prism manifolds $P(p, q)$ that can be realized by positive integral surgeries on knots in $S^3$ when $q<0$ or $q>p$; in the present work, we solve the case when $0<q<p$. This completes the solution of the realization problem for prism manifolds.

The prism manifold realization problem II

We continue our study of the realization problem for prism manifolds. Every prism manifold can be parametrized by a pair of relatively prime integers $p>1$ and $q$. We determine a complete list of prism manifolds $P(p, q)$ that can be realized by positive integral surgeries on knots in $S^3$ when $q>p$. The methodology undertaken to obtain the classification is similar to that of the case $q<0$ in an earlier paper.

The prism manifold realization problem

The spherical manifold realization problem asks which spherical three-manifolds arise from surgeries on knots in $S^3$. In recent years, the realization problem for C, T, O, and I-type spherical manifolds has been solved, leaving the D-type manifolds (also known as the prism manifolds) as the only remaining case. Every prism manifold can be parametrized as $P(p,q)$, for a pair of relatively prime integers $p>1$ and $q$. We determine a complete list of prism manifolds $P(p, q)$ that can be realized by positive integral surgeries on knots in $S^3$ when $q<0$. The methodology undertaken to obtain the classification is similar to that of Greene for lens spaces.
