A Non-Archimedean Second Main Theorem for Hypersurfaces in Subgeneral Position

We apply an idea of Levin to obtain a non-truncated second main theorem for non-Archimedean analytic maps approximating algebraic hypersurfaces in subgeneral position. In some cases, for example when all the hypersurfaces are non-linear and all the intersections are transverse, this improves an inequality of Quang, whose inequality is sharp for the case of hyperplanes in subgeneral position.

Some projective distance inequalities for simplices in complex projective space

We prove inequalities relating the absolute value of the determinant of n+1 linearly independent unit vectors in an n+1 dimensional complex vector space and the projective distances from the vertices to the hyperplanes containing the opposite faces of the simplices in complex projective n-space whose vertices or faces are determined by the given vectors.

Yi's Unique Range Set Construction in the Number Field Case

H. X. Yi's construction of unique range sets for entire functions is translated to the number theory setting to illustrate that his construction would work in the number theory setting if one knew a version of Schmidt's Subspace Theorem with truncated counting functions.

Existence of GCD's and Factorization in Rings of Non-Archimedean Entire Functions

A detailed proof is given of the well-known facts that greatest common divisors exist in rings of non-Archimedean entire functions of several variables and that these rings of entire functions are almost factorial, in the sense that an entire function can be uniquely written as a countable product of irreducible entire functions.

Landau's theorem for holomorphic curves in projective space and the Kobayashi metric on hyperplane complements

We prove an effective version of a theorem of Dufresnoy: For any set of 2n+1 hyperplanes in general position in n-dimensional complex projective space, we find an explicit constant K such that for every holomorphic map f from the unit disc to the complement of these hyperplanes, the derivative of f at the origin measured with respect to the Fubuni-Study metric is bouned above by K. This result gives an explicit lower bound on the Royden function, i.e., the ratio of the Kobayashi metric on the hyperplane complement to the Fubini-Study metric. Our estimate is based on the potential-theoretic method of Eremenko and Sodin.

Lecture 1 discusses non-Archimedean analogs of classical complex function theory based on the Schnirelman integral. Lecture 2 discusses valuation (Newton) polygons and their consequences and presents a non-Archimedean analog of the Poisson-Jensen formula. Algebraic Degeneracy of Non-Archimedean Analytic Maps

We prove non-Archimedean analogs of results of Noguchi and Winkelmann showing algebraic degeneracy of rigid analytic maps to projective varieties omitting an effective divisor with sufficiently many irreducible components relative to the rank of the group they generate in the Neron-Severi group of the variety.

Non-Archimedean Big Picard Theorems

A non-Archimedean analog of the classical Big Picard Theorem, which says that a holomorphic map from the punctured disc to a Riemann surface of hyperbolic type extends accross the puncture, is proven using Berkovich's theory of non-Archimedean analytic spaces.
