An equivariant version of the Euler obstruction

For a complex analytic variety with an action of a finite group and for an invariant 1-form on it, we give an equivariant version (with values in the Burnside ring of the group) of the local Euler obstruction of the 1-form and describe its relation with the equivariant radial index defined earlier. This leads to equivariant versions of the local Euler obstruction of a complex analytic space and of the global Euler obstruction.

Orbifold zeta functions for dual invertible polynomials

An invertible polynomial in $n$ variables is a quasihomogeneous polynomial consisting of $n$ monomials so that the weights of the variables and the quasi-degree are well defined. In the framework of the construction of mirror symmetric orbifold Landau--Ginzburg models, P.~Berg\-lund, T.~Hübsch and M.~Henningson considered a pair $(f,G)$ consisting of an invertible polynomial $f$ and an abelian group $G$ of its symmetries together with a dual pair $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$. Here we study the reduced orbifold zeta functions of dual pairs $(f,G)$ and $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$ and show that they either coincide or are inverse to each other depending on the number $n$ of variables.

Indices of collections of equivariant 1-forms and characteristic numbers

If two G-manifolds are G-cobordant then characteristic numbers corresponding to the fixed point sets (submanifolds) of subgroups of G and to normal bundles to these sets coincide. We construct two analogues of these characteristic numbers for singular complex G-varieties where G is a finite group. They are defined as sums of certain indices of collections of 1-forms (with values in the spaces of the irreducible representations of subgroups). These indices are generalizations of the GSV-index (for isolated complete intersection singularities) and the Euler obstruction respectively.

Equivariant indices of vector fields and 1-forms

Equivariant versions of the radial index and of the GSV-index of a vector field or a 1-form on a singular variety with an action of a finite group are defined. They have values in the Burnside ring of the group. Poincaré-Hopf type theorems for them are proven and some of their properties are described.

A geometric definition of Gabrielov numbers

Gabrielov numbers describe certain Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams of the 14 exceptional unimodal singularities and play a role in Arnold's strange duality. In a previous paper, the authors defined Gabrielov numbers of a cusp singularity with an action of a finite abelian subgroup $G$ of ${\rm SL}(3,\CC)$ using the Gabrielov numbers of the cusp singularity and data of the group $G$. Here we consider a crepant resolution $Y \to \CC^3/G$ and the preimage $Z$ of the image of the Milnor fibre of the cusp singularity under the natural projection $\CC^3 \to \CC^3/G$. Using the McKay correspondence, we compute the homology of the pair $(Y,Z)$. We construct a basis of the relative homology group $H_3(Y,Z;\QQ)$ with a Coxeter-Dynkin diagram where one can read off the Gabrielov numbers.

A geometric construction of Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams of bimodal singularities

We consider the Berglund-Hübsch transpose of a bimodal invertible polynomial and construct a triangulated category associated to the compactification of a suitable deformation of the singularity. This is done in such a way that the corresponding Grothendieck group with the (negative) Euler form can be described by a graph which corresponds to the Coxeter-Dynkin diagram with respect to a distinguished basis of vanishing cycles of the bimodal singularity.

On a Newton filtration for functions on a curve singularity

In a previous paper, there was defined a multi-index filtration on the ring of functions on a hypersurface singularity corresponding to its Newton diagram generalizing (for a curve singularity) the divisorial one. Its Poincaré series was computed for plane curve singularities non-degenerate with respect to their Newton diagrams. Here we use another technique to compute the Poincaré series for plane curve singularities without the assumption that they are non-degenerate with respect to their Newton diagrams. We show that the Poincaré series only depends on the Newton diagram and not on the defining equation.

Orbifold Euler characteristics for dual invertible polynomials

To construct mirror symmetric Landau-Ginzburg models, P.Berglund, T.Hübsch and M.Henningson considered a pair $(f,G)$ consisting of an invertible polynomial $f$ and an abelian group $G$ of its symmetries together with a dual pair $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$. Here we study the reduced orbifold Euler characteristics of the Milnor fibres of $f$ and $\widetilde f$ with the actions of the groups $G$ and $\widetilde G$ respectively and show that they coincide up to a sign.

Saito duality between Burnside rings for invertible polynomials

We give an equivariant version of the Saito duality which can be regarded as a Fourier transformation on Burnside rings. We show that (appropriately defined) reduced equivariant monodromy zeta functions of Berglund-Hübsch dual invertible polynomials are Saito dual to each other with respect to their groups of diagonal symmetries. Moreover we show that the relation between "geometric roots" of the monodromy zeta functions for some pairs of Berglund-Hübsch dual invertible polynomials described in a previous paper is a particular case of this duality.

Mirror symmetry between orbifold curves and cusp singularities with group action

We consider an orbifold Landau-Ginzburg model $(f,G)$, where $f$ is an invertible polynomial in three variables and $G$ a finite group of symmetries of $f$ containing the exponential grading operator, and its Berglund-Hübsch transpose $(f^T, G^T)$. We show that this defines a mirror symmetry between orbifold curves and cusp singularities with group action. We define Dolgachev numbers for the orbifold curves and Gabrielov numbers for the cusp singularities with group action. We show that these numbers are the same and that the stringy Euler number of the orbifold curve coincides with the $G^T$-equivariant Milnor number of the mirror cusp singularity.

Monodromy of dual invertible polynomials

A generalization of Arnold's strange duality to invertible polynomials in three variables by the first author and A.Takahashi includes the following relation. For some invertible polynomials $f$ the Saito dual of the reduced monodromy zeta function of $f$ coincides with a formal "root" of the reduced monodromy zeta function of its Berglund-Hübsch transpose $f^T$. Here we give a geometric interpretation of "roots" of the monodromy zeta function and generalize the above relation to all non-degenerate invertible polynomials in three variables and to some polynomials in an arbitrary number of variables in a form including "roots" of the monodromy zeta functions both of $f$ and $f^T$.

On divisorial filtrations associated with Newton diagrams

We consider divisorial filtration on the rings of functions on hypersurface singularities associated with Newton diagrams and their analogues for plane curve singularities. We compute the multi-variable Poincaré series for the latter ones.

Strange duality of weighted homogeneous polynomials

We consider a mirror symmetry between invertible weighted homogeneous polynomials in three variables. We define Dolgachev and Gabrielov numbers for them and show that we get a duality between these polynomials generalizing Arnold's strange duality between the 14 exceptional unimodal singularities.

Poincaré series and Coxeter functors for Fuchsian singularities

We consider Fuchsian singularities of arbitrary genus and prove, in a conceptual manner, a formula for their Poincaré series. This uses Coxeter elements involving Eichler-Siegel transformations. We give geometrical interpretations for the lattices and isometries involved, lifting them to triangulated categories.

McKay correspondence for the Poincaré series of Kleinian and Fuchsian singularities

We give a conceptual proof that the Poincaré series of the coordinate algebra of a Kleinian singularity and of a Fuchsian singularity of genus 0 is the quotient of the characteristic polynomials of two Coxeter elements. These Coxeter elements are interpreted geometrically, using triangulated categories and spherical twist functors.
