Quantum measurement in two-dimensional conformal field theories: Application to quantum energy teleportation

We construct a set of quasi-local measurement operators in 2D CFT, and then use them to proceed the quantum energy teleportation (QET) protocol and show it is viable. These measurement operators are constructed out of the projectors constructed from shadow operators, but further acting on the product of two spatially separated primary fields. They are equivalently the OPE blocks in the large central charge limit up to some UV-cutoff dependent normalization but the associated probabilities of outcomes are UV-cutoff independent. We then adopt these quantum measurement operators to show that the QET protocol is viable in general. We also check the CHSH inequality a la OPE blocks.

On New Proposal for Holographic BCFT

This paper is an extended version of our short letter on a new proposal for holographic boundary conformal field, i.e., BCFT. By using the Penrose-Brown-Henneaux (PBH) transformation, we successfully obtain the expected boundary Weyl anomaly. The obtained boundary central charges satisfy naturally a c-like theorem holographically. We then develop an approach of holographic renormalization for BCFT, and reproduce the correct boundary Weyl anomaly. This provides a non-trivial check of our proposal. We also investigate the holographic entanglement entropy of BCFT and find that our proposal gives the expected orthogonal condition that the minimal surface must be normal to the spacetime boundaries if they intersect. This is another support for our proposal. We also find that the entanglement entropy depends on the boundary conditions of BCFT and the distance to the boundary; and that the entanglement wedge behaves a phase transition, which is important for the self-consistency of AdS/BCFT. Finally, we show that the proposal of arXiv:1105.5165 is too restrictive that it always make vanishing some of the boundary central charges.

A New Proposal for Holographic BCFT

We propose a new holographic dual of conformal field theory defined on a manifold with boundaries, i.e. BCFT. Our proposal can apply to general boundaries and agrees with arXiv:1105.5165 for the special case of a disk and half plane. Using the new proposal of AdS/BCFT, we successfully obtain the expected boundary Weyl anomaly and the obtained boundary central charges satisfy naturally a c-like theorem holographically. We also investigate the holographic entanglement entropy of BCFT and find that the minimal surface must be normal to the bulk spacetime boundaries when they intersect. Interestingly, the entanglement entropy depends on the boundary conditions of BCFT and the distance to the boundary. The entanglement wedge has an interesting phase transition which is important for the self-consistency of AdS/BCFT.

Coherent state, local excitation in 2D conformal field theory

In this paper we discuss the topics concerning the local excitation and coherent state in 2D CFT. It is shown that the local excitation of primary operator can be taken as a coherent state of the global conformal group. We also discuss the entanglement property of such state. For rational CFT the entanglement entropy between the holomorphic and anti-holomorphic sector of the local excitation of some primary operator is related to the quantum dimension of the operator, consistent with previous approach, but by a differentmethod. We comment on the possible application of so-defined group coherent state in the holographic view. We also study the coherent state in the free massless boson field, their time evolution and entanglement property. We introduce the deformed local excitation and the entangled state constructed by them. It is shown the violation of Bell inequality for such entangled state.

Entanglement Entropy for Descendent Local Operators in 2D CFTs

We mainly study the Rényi entropy and entanglement entropy of the states locally excited by the descendent operators in two dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs). In rational CFTs, we prove that the increase of entanglement entropy and Rényi entropy for a class of descendent operators, which are generated by $\cal{L}^{(-)}\bar{\cal{L}}^{(-)}$ onto the primary operator, always coincide with the logarithmic of quantum dimension of the corresponding primary operator. That means the Rényi entropy and entanglement entropy for these descendent operators are the same as the ones of their corresponding primary operator. For 2D rational CFTs with a boundary, we confirm that the Rényi entropy always coincides with the logarithmic of quantum dimension of the primary operator during some periods of the evolution. Furthermore, we consider more general descendent operators generated by $\sum_{} d_{\{n_i\}\{n_j\}}(\prod_{i} L_{-n_i}\prod_{j}{\bar L}_{-n_j})$ on the primary operator. For these operators, the entanglement entropy and Rényi entropy get additional corrections, as the mixing of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic Virasoro generators enhance the entanglement. Finally, we employ perturbative CFT techniques to evaluate the Rényi entropy of the excited operators in deformed CFT. The Rényi and entanglement entropies are increased, and get contributions not only from local excited operators but also from global deformation of the theory.

Entropy for gravitational Chern-Simons terms by squashed cone method

In this paper we investigate the entropy of gravitational Chern-Simons terms for the horizon with non-vanishing extrinsic curvatures, or the holographic entanglement entropy for arbitrary entangling surface. In 3D we find no anomaly of entropy appears. But the squashed cone method can not be used directly to get the correct result. For higher dimensions the anomaly of entropy would appear, still, we can not use the squashed cone method directly. That is becasuse the Chern-Simons action is not gauge invariant. To get a reasonable result we suggest two methods. One is by adding a boundary term to recover the gauge invariance. This boundary term can be derived from the variation of the Chern-Simons action. The other one is by using the Chern-Simons relation $d\bm{Ω_{4n-1}}=tr(\bm{R}^{2n})$. We notice that the entropy of $tr(\bm{R}^{2n})$ is a total derivative locally, i.e. $S=d s_{CS}$. We propose to identify $s_{CS}$ with the entropy of gravitational Chern-Simons terms $Ω_{4n-1}$. In the first method we could get the correct result for Wald entropy in arbitrary dimension. In the second approach, in addition to Wald entropy, we can also obtain the anomaly of entropy with non-zero extrinsic curvatures. Our results imply that the entropy of a topological invariant, such as the Pontryagin term $tr(\bm{R}^{2n})$ and the Euler density, is a topological invariant on the entangling surface.

Rényi entropy of locally excited states with thermal and boundary effect in 2D CFTs

We study Rényi entropy of locally excited states with considering the thermal and boundary effects respectively in two dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs). Firstly we consider locally excited states obtained by acting primary operators on a thermal state in low temperature limit. The Rényi entropy is summation of contribution from thermal effect and local excitation. Secondly, we mainly study the Rényi entropy of locally excited states in 2D CFT with a boundary. We show that the evolution of Rényi entropy does not depend on the choice of boundary conditions and boundary will change the time evolution of Rényi entropy. Moreover, in 2D rational CFTs with a boundary, we show that the Rényi entropy always coincides with the log of quantum dimension of the primary operator during some periods of the evolution. We make use of a quasi-particle picture to understand this phenomenon. In terms of quasi-particle interpretation, the boundary behaves as an infinite potential barrier which reflects any energy moving towards the boundary.
