General Lagrangian of Non-Covariant Self-dual Gauge Field

We present the general formulation of non-covariant Lagrangian of self-dual gauge theory. After specifying the parameters therein the previous Lagrangian in the decomposition of spacetime into $6=D_1+D_2$ and $6=D_1+D_2+D_3$ can be obtained. The self-dual property of the general Lagrangian is proved in detail. We furthermore show that the new non-covariant actions give field equations with 6d Lorentz invariance. The method can be straightforward extended to any dimension and we also give a short discussion about the 10D self-dual gauge theory.

Mass generation for Self-dual Gauge Fields via Topologically Coupling

We study the mass generation of self-dual two form gauge field by topologically coupling it to the three rank anti-symmetric field. We use the various non-covariant Lagrangian of self-dual two form to perform the analysis and find that the field equation of massive self-dual two form gauge field may be described by $\partial^2 B^{ab}+m^2B^{ab}=0$ or $\partial_c (F^{cab}-\tilde F^{cab})+m^2B^{ab}=0$. We also find that, depending on the formulation of self-dual two form gauge field, the three rank anti-symmetric field may or may not be totally eliminated. Thus the different Lagrangian will show different mass generation mechanisms.

Lagrangian of Self-dual Gauge Fields in Various Formulations

The Lagrangian of self-dual gauge theory in various formulations are reviewed. From these results we see a simple rule and use it to present some new non-covariant Lagrangian based on the decomposition of spacetime into $D=D_1+D_2+D_3$. Our prescription could be easily extended to more complex decomposition of spacetime and some more examples are presented therefore. The self-dual property of the new Lagrangian is proved in detail. We also show that the new non-covariant actions give field equations with 6d Lorentz invariance.

M2-KK6 System in ABJM Theory : Fuzzy $S^3$ and Wrapped KK6

We study the properties of M2-KK6 (2D membranes - 6D Kaluza-Klein monopole) solution in ABJM membrane theory. First, we find a new kind of BPS solution which has six coordinates, contrasts to our previous solutions which have four coordinates. Next, we argue that, after wrapping 2 sphere the new solution may correspond to the previous solution of four coordinates. We analyze the properties therein and conclude that M2-branes described in ABJM theory could expand into fuzzy three sphere plus a wrapped 2 sphere near the KK6 core. Especially, we show in detail how the fuzzy 3-sphere could arise in these solutions and discuss the property of wrapped KK6 and its relation to M5-brane. We also analyze the fluctuation of the M2-KK6 solution and see that it is U(1) field theory.

KK6 from M2 in ABJM

We study the BPS equations in ABJM theory furthermore. Besides the known funnel solutions which are proposed to describe M2-M5 systems we find a new kind solution. We analyze the properties therein and see that it can describe M2-KK6 (2D membranes with 6D Kaluza-Klein monopole) systems. Our solutions also reveal new vacua in the mass deformed ABJM theory. Contrast to the previous investigation in which the vacua are reducible, ours may be irreducible. We also discuss a possible interpretation of the new BPS solutions as a M2-2M5 system.

Lie 3-Algebra Non-Abelian (2,0) Theory in Loop Space

It is believed that the multiple M5-branes are described by the non-abelian (2,0) theory and have the non-local structure. In this note we investigate the non-abelian (2,0) theory in loop space which incorporates the non-local property. All fields will be formulated as loop fields and the two-form potential becomes a part of connection. We make an ansatz for field supersymmetry transformation with a help of Lie 3-algebra and examine the closure condition of the transformation to find the field equations. However, the closure conditions lead to several complex terms and we have not yet found a simple form for some constrain field equations. In particular, we present the clear scheme and several detailed calculations in each step. Many useful $Γ$ matrix algebras are derived in the appendix.

ADM Mass on General Spacetime and Hawking-Page Phase Transition in Magnetic Black Brane

We derive a formula which enable us to evaluate the ADM mass in a more general curved spacetime. We apply the formula to evaluate the thermodynamical quantities of the Melvin magnetic black D-branes. We see that there is the Hawking-Page phase transition and the corresponding dual gauge theory will show the confinement-deconfinement transition under magnetic flux.

KK6 from M2 in BLG

We study the possibility that the Kaluza-Klein monopole (KK6) world-volume action may be obtained from the multiple membranes (M2) action which is described by BLG theory. We first point out that the infinite dimensional Lie 3-algebra based on the Nambu-Poisson structure could not only provide three dimensional manifolds to allow M5 from M2, which was studied by previous authors, but also provide five dimensional manifolds to allow KK6 from M2. We next present a possible way that the U(1) field on KK6 world-volume action could be produced form the gauge potential in BLG theory.

Quantum Field, Thermodynamics and Black Hole on Coherent State Representation of Fuzzy Space

We first use the coherent state formalism of fuzzy space to show that the fuzziness will eliminate point-like structure of a particle in favor of smeared object, which is an exponential decay function in contrast to the Gaussian type in the Moyal noncommutative space. The exponential decay function implies that, in the UV region, the fuzziness provides an extra power-decay factor in the Feynman propagator, contrasts to the exponential-decay factor in the Moyal space. We also calculate the particle heat capacity and see that it approaches to zero at high temperature. Next, we use the found smeared source to study the Schwarzschild-like geometry and see that the black hole can reach a finite maximum temperature before cooling down to absolute zero and leave a stable remnant, as that in the noncommutative case. The properties of fuzzy 3D BTZ and the fuzzy Kaluza-Klein black holes are also discussed. Finally, we present a criterion for existence a regular black hole with a general smeared source function.

Holographic Gauge Theory with Maxwell Magnetic Field

We first apply the transformation of mixing azimuthal with wrapped coordinate to the 11D M-theory with a stack N M5-branes to find the spacetime of a stack of N D4-branes with magnetic field in 10D IIA string theory, after the Kaluza-Klein reduction. In the near-horizon limit the background becomes the Melvin magnetic field deformed $AdS_6 \times S^4$. Although the solution represents the D-branes under the Melvin RR one-form we use a simple observation to see that it also describes the solution of D-branes under the Maxwell magnetic field. As the magnetic field we consider is the part of the background itself we have presented an alternative to previous literature, because our method does not require the assumption of negligible back reaction. Next, we use the found solution to investigate the meson property through D4/D8 system (Sakai-Sugimoto model) and compare it with those studied by other authors. Finally, we present a detailed analysis about the Wilson loop therein and results show that the external Maxwell magnetic field will enhance the quark-antiquark potential.

Entropy of Black-Branes System and T-Duality

A general black-branes system under the T-duality transformation will become another smeared system with different dimensional black branes. We first use some simple examples to see that both systems have a same value of entropy and then present a rigorous method to prove this general property. Using the property we could easily know the entropy of some complex black-brane systems.

Thermodynamics on Fuzzy Spacetime

We investigate the thermodynamics of non-relativistic and relativistic ideal gases on the spacetime with noncommutative fuzzy geometry. We first find that the heat capacities of the non-relativistic ideal boson and fermion on the fuzzy two-sphere have different values, contrast to that on the commutative geometry. We calculate the "statistical interparticle potential" therein and interprete this property as a result that the non-commutativity of the fuzzy sphere has an inclination to enhance the statistical "attraction (repulsion) interparticle potential" between boson (fermion). We also see that at high temperature the heat capacity approaches to zero. We next evaluate the heat capacities of the non-relativistic ideal boson and fermion on the product of the 1+D (with D=2,3) Minkowski spacetime by a fuzzy two-sphere and see that the fermion capacity could be a decreasing function of temperature in high-temperature limit, contrast to that always being an increasing function on the commutative geometry. Also, the boson and fermion heat capacities both approach to that on the 1+D Minkowski spacetime in high-temperature limit. We discuss these results and mention that the properties may be traced to the mechanism of "thermal reduction of the fuzzy space". We also investigate the same problems in the relativistic system with free Klein-Gordon field and Dirac field and find the similar properties.

Thermodynamics on Noncommutative Geometry in Coherent State Formalism

The thermodynamics of ideal gas on the noncommutative geometry in the coherent state formalism is investigated. We first evaluate the statistical interparticle potential and see that there are residual "attraction (repulsion) potential" between boson (fermion) in the high temperature limit. The characters could be traced to the fact that, the particle with mass $m$ in noncommutative thermal geometry with noncommutativity $θ$ and temperature $T$ will correspond to that in the commutative background with temperature $T(1+kTmθ)^{-1}$. Such a correspondence implies that the ideal gas energy will asymptotically approach to a finite limiting value as that on commutative geometry at $T_θ= (kmθ)^{-1}$. We also investigate the squeezed coherent states and see that they could have arbitrary mean energy. The thermal properties of those systems are calculated and compared to each other. We find that the heat capacity of the squeezed coherent states of boson and fermion on the noncommutative geometry have different values, contrast to that on the commutative geometry.

Holographic Description of Glueball and Baryon in Noncommutative Dipole Gauge Theory

We study the glueball spectrum in the supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric 4D non-commutative dipole gauge theory from the holographic description. We adopt the semiclassical WKB approximation to solve the dilaton and antisymmetric tensor field equations on the dual supergravity backgrounds to find the analytic formula of the spectrum of $0^{++}$ and $1^{--}$ glueballs, respectively. In the supersymmetric theory we see that the dipole length plays the intrinsic scale which reflects the discrete spectrum therein. In the non-supersymmetric theory, the temperature (or the radius of compactification) in there will now play the intrinsic scale and we see that the dipole has an effect to produce attractive force between the gluons within the glueball. We also study the confining force between the quarks within the baryon via strings that hang into the dipole deformed AdS geometry and see that the dipole could also produce an attractive force between the quarks. In particular, we find that the baryon has two phases in which a big baryon is dual to the static string while a small baryon is described by a moving dual string .

Chiral Dynamics and Meson with Non-commutative Dipole Field in Gauge/Gravity Dual

Apply the T-duality and smeared twist to the D3-brane solution one can construct the supergravity backgrounds which may dual to supersymmetric or non-supersymmetric non-commutative dipole field theory. We introduce D7-brane probe into the dual supergravity background to study the chiral dynamics and meson spectrum therein. We first find that the non-commutative dipole field does not induce the chiral symmetry breaking even if the supersymmetry was completely broken, contrast to the conventional believing that the chiral symmetry will be broken in the non-supersymmetric theory. Next, we find that the dipole field does not modify the meson spectrum in the supersymmetric theory while it will reduce the meson bound-state energy in the non-supersymmetric theory. We also evaluate the static quark anti-quark potential and see that the dipole field has an effect to produce attractive force between the quark and anti-quark.

Thermal Giant Graviton with Non-commutative Dipole Field

Using the type II near-extremal 3D-branes solution we apply the T-duality and smeared twist to construct the supergravity backgrounds which dual to the 4D finite temperature non-commutative dipole field theories. We first consider the zero-temperature system in which, depending on the property of dipole vectors it may be N=2, N=1 or N=0 theory. We investigate the rotating D3-brane configurations moving on the spactimes and show that, for the cases of N=2 and N =1 the rotating D3-brane could be blowed up to the stable spherical configuration which is called as giant graviton and has a less energy than the point-like graviton. The giant graviton configuration is stable only if its angular momentum was less than a critical value of $P_c$ which is an increasing function of the dipole strength. For the case of non-supersymmetric theory, however, the spherical configuration has a larger energy than the point-like graviton. We also find that the dipole field always render the dual giant graviton to be more stable than the point-like graviton. The relation of dual giant graviton energy with its angular momentum, which in the AdS/CFT correspondence being the operator anomalous dimension is obtained. We furthermore show that the temperature does not change the property of the giant graviton, while it will render the dual giant graviton to be unstable.

Wilson-t'Hooft Loops in Finite-Temperature Non-commutative Dipole Field Theory from Dual Supergravity

We first study the temporal Wilson loop in the finite-temperature non-commutative dipole field theory from the string/gauge correspondence. The associated dual supergravity background is constructed from the near-horizon geometry of near-extremal D-branes, after applying T-duality and smeared twist. We investigate the string configuration therein and find that while the temperature produces a maximum distance $L_{max}$ in the interquark distance the dipole in there could produce a minimum distance $L_{min}$. The quark boundary pair therefore could be found only if their distance is between $L_{min}$ and $L_{max}$. We also show that, beyond a critical temperature the quark pair becomes totally free due to screening by thermal bath. We next study the spatial Wilson loop and find the confining nature in the zero temperature 3D and 4D non-supersymmetry dipole gauge theory. The string tension of the linear confinement potential is obtained and found to be a decreasing function of the dipole field. We also investigate the associated t'Hooft loop and determine the corresponding monopole anti-monopole potential. The conventional screening of magnetic charge which indicates the confinement of the electric charge is replaced by a strong repulsive however. Finally, we show that the dual string which is rotating along the dipole deformed $S^5$ will behave as a static one without dipole field, which has no minimum distance and has larger energy than a static one with dipole field. We discuss the phase transition between these string solutions.

Quantum Perfect-Fluid Kaluza-Klein Cosmology

The perfect fluid cosmology in the 1+d+D dimensional Kaluza-Klein spacetimes for an arbitrary barotropic equation of state $p= n ρ$ is quantized by using the Schutz's variational formalism. We make efforts in the mathematics to solve the problems in two cases. For the first case of the stiff fluid $n=1$ we exactly solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation when the $d$ space is flat. After the superposition of the solutions we analyze the Bohmian trajectories of the final-stage wave-packet functions and show that the flat $d$ spaces and the compact $D$ spaces will eventually evolve into finite scale functions. For the second case of $n \approx 1$, we use the approximated wavefunction in the Wheeler-DeWitt equation to find the analytic forms of the final-stage wave-packet functions. After analyzing the Bohmian trajectories we show that the flat $d$ spaces will be expanding forever while the scale function of the contracting $D$ spaces would not become zero within finite time. Our investigations indicate that the quantum effect in the quantum perfect-fluid cosmology could prevent the extra compact $D$ spaces in the Kaluza-Klein theory from collapsing into a singularity or that the "crack-of-doom" singularity of the extra compact dimensions is made to occur at $t=\infty$.
