Enhanced Direct CP Violation in $B^{\pm} \to ρ^{0} π^{\pm}$

We study direct CP violation in the hadronic decay $B^{\pm} \to ρ^{0}π^{\pm}$, including the effect of $ρ- ω$ mixing. We find that the CP violating asymmetry is strongly dependent on the CKM matrix elements, especially the Wolfenstein parameter $η$. For fixed $N_{c}$ (the effective parameter associated with factorization), the CP violating asymmetry, $a$, has a maximum of order $30%-50%$ when the invariant mass of the $π^{+}π^{-}$ pair is in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. The sensitivity of the asymmetry, $a$, to $N_{c}$ is small. Moreover, if $N_{c}$ is constrained using the latest experimental branching ratios from the CLEO collaboration, we find that the sign of $\sin δ$ is always positive. Thus, a measurement of direct CP violation in $B^{\pm} \to ρ^{0}π^{\pm}$ would remove the mod$(π)$ ambiguity in ${\rm arg}[ - \frac{V_{td}V_{tb}^{\star}}{V_{ud}V_{ub}^{\star}}]$.

1/m_Q Corrections to the Bethe-Salpeter Equation for Λ_{Q} in the Diquark Picture

Corrections of order 1/m_Q (Q=b or c) to the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation for Λ_Q are analyzed on the assumption that the heavy baryon Λ_Q is composed of a heavy quark and a scalar, light diquark. It is found that in addition to the one B-S scalar function in the limit m_Q -> \infty, two more scalar functions are needed at the order 1/m_Q. These can be related to the B-S scalar function in the leading order. The six form factors for the weak transition Λ_b -> Λ_c are expressed in terms of these wave functions and the results are consistent with heavy quark effective theory to order 1/m_Q. Assuming the kernel for the B-S equation in the limit m_Q -> \infty to consist of a scalar confinement term and a one-gluon-exchange term we obtain numerical solutions for the B-S wave functions, and hence for the $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ form factors to order 1/m_Q. Predictions are given for the differential and total decay widths for Λ_b -> Λ_c l \barν, and also for the nonleptonic decay widths for Λ_b -> Λ_c plus a pseudoscalar or vector meson, with QCD corrections being also included.

Direct CP Violation in Charmed Hadron Decays via $ρ-ω$ Mixing

We study the possibility of obtaining large direct CP violation in the charmed hadron decays $D^+ \to ρ^+ ρ^0 (ω) \to ρ^+ π^+π^-$, $D^+ \to π^+ ρ^0 (ω) \to π^+ π^+π^-$, $D^0 \to ϕρ^0 (ω) \toϕπ^+π^-$, $D^0 \toηρ^0 (ω) \toηπ^+π^-$, $D^0 \to η' ρ^0 (ω) \toη' π^+π^-$, $D^0 \to π^0 ρ^0 (ω) \to π^0 π^+π^-$, and $Λ_c \ra p ρ^0 (ω) \to p π^+π^-$ via $ρ-ω$ mixing. The analysis is carried out in the factorization approach. The CP violation parameter depends on the effective parameter, $N_{c}$, which is relevant to hadronization dynamics of each decay channel and should be determined by experiments. It is found that for fixed $N_{c}$ the CP violation parameter reaches its maximum value when the invariant mass of the $π^+π^-$ pair is in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For $D^0 \to π^0 ρ^0 (ω) \to π^0 π^+π^-$ and $Λ_c \to p ρ^0 (ω) \to p π^+π^-$ the maximum CP violating asymmetry is bigger than 1% when $1.98\leq N_c \leq 1.99$ and $1.95\leq N_c \leq 2.02$, respectively. We also estimate the decay branching ratios for $D^0 \to π^0 ρ^0$ and $Λ_c \to p ρ^0$ for these values of $N_c$, which should be tested by future experimental data.

Bethe-Salpeter Equation for Heavy Baryons ω_{Q}^{(*)} in the Diquark Picture

In the heavy quark limit, the heavy baryons ω_{Q}^{(*)} (ωcould be Σ, Ξor Ωand Q=b or c) are regarded as composed of a heavy quark and an axial vector, light diquark with good spin and isospin quantum numbers. Based on this diquark picture we establish the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation for ω_{Q}^{(*)} in the limit where the heavy quark has infinite mass, m_Q -> \infty. It is found that in this limit there are three components in the B-S wave function for ω_{Q}^{(*)}. Assuming the kernel to consist of a scalar confinement term and a one-gluon-exchange term we derive three coupled integral equations for the three B-S scalar functions in the covariant instantaneous approximation. Numerical solutions for the three B-S scalar functions are presented, including a discussion about their dependence on the various input parameters. These solutions are applied to calculate the Isgur-Wise functions ξ(ω) and ζ(ω) for the weak transitions Ω_{b}^{(*)} \to Ω_{c}^{(*)}. Using these we give predictions for the Cabibbo-allowed nonleptonic decay widths and up-down asymmetries for Ω_{b} \to Ω_{c}^{(*)} plus a pseudoscalar or vector meson.

Direct CP Violation in Λ_b -> n (Λ)π^+π^- Decays via ρ-ωMixing

We study direct CP violation in the bottom baryon decays Λ_b -> f ρ^0 (ω) -> fπ^+π^- (f=n or Λ). It is found that in these decays via ρ-ωmixing the CP violation could be very large when the invariant mass of the π^+π^- pair is in the vicinity of the ωresonance. With a typical value N_c =2 in the factorization approach, the maximum CP-violating asymmetries are more than 50% and 68% for Λ_b -> n π^+π^- and Λ_b -> Λπ^+π^-, respectively. With the aid of heavy quark symmetry and phenomenological models for the hadronic wave functions of Λ_b, Λand the neutron, we estimate the branching ratios of Λ_b -> n (Λ)ρ^0.

Λ_b \to Λ_c P(V) Nonleptonic Weak Decays

The two-body nonleptonic weak decays of Λ_b \to Λ_c P(V) (P and V represent pseudoscalar and vector mesons respectively) are analyzed in two models, one is the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) model and the other is the hadronic wave function model. The calculations are carried out in the factorization approach. The obtained results are compared with other model calculations.

The dissipative potential induced by QCD at finite temperature and density

In the framework of QCD at finite temperature we have obtained dissipative terms for the effective potential between $q$ and $\bar q$ which would partly explain the $J/ψ$ suppression in the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). The derivation of the dissipative potential for QGP is presented and the case for Hadron Matter (HM) is briefly discussed. The suppression effects are estimated based on simple approximations.

Applications of the superflavor symmetry to heavy baryon-antibaryon pair production in electron-positron collision

The baryons containing two heavy quarks and a light quark are believed to have the diquark-quark structure and the diquark is composed of the two heavy quarks which is a spin-0 or spin-1 object. The superflavor symmetry can associate productions of such heavy baryon-antibaryon pair with the heavy meson productions. The whole scenario is presented in some details in this work, and the observation prospect in future experiments is discussed.

Heavy to light baryon transition form factors

Recently, Stech found form factor relations for heavy to light transitions based on two simple dynamical assumptions for spectator partical. In this work we generalize his approach to the case of baryons and find that for $Λ_{Q}\toΛ$ ($Q=b$ or $c$) only one independent form factor remains in limit $m_{Q}\to\infty$. Furthermore, combining with the model of Guo and Kroll we determine both of the two form factors for $Λ_{Q}\toΛ$ in the heavy quark limit. The results are applied to $Λ_{b}\toΛ+ J/ψ$ which is not clarified both theoretically and experimentally. It is found that the branching ratio of $Λ_{b}\toΛ+ J/ψ$ is of order 10^{-5}.

Possible effects of quark and gluon condensates in quarkonium spectra

The Cornell potential with the best fitted parameters $α_{s}$ and $κ$ are modified by adding terms derived from non-perturbative QCD, which are characterized by a series of non-vanishing vacuum condensates of quarks and gluons. In terms of this potential, we study the system of heavy quarkonia. The results show that the correction caused by the additional terms reduces the deviation between the data and the values calculated with the pure Cornell potential and improves the splittings of energy levels. The achievements indicate that the non-perturbative effects induced by vacuum condensates play an important role for the correction to $1/q^2$, which in general was phenomenologically put in by hand. This result would be helpful for understanding non-perturbative QCD along a parallel direction to the QCD sum rules.

Isgur-Wise Function for $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ in B-S Approach

In the heavy quark limit, the heavy baryon $Λ_Q$ (Q=b or c) can be regarded as composed of a heavy quark and a scalar light diquark which has good spin and flavor quantum numbers. Based on this picture we establish the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation for $Λ_Q$ in the leading order of $1/m_Q$ expansion. With the kernel containing both the scalar confinement and one-gluon-exchange terms we solve the B-S equation numerically. The Isgur-Wise function for $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ is obtained numerically from our model. Comparison with other model calculations are also presented. It seems that the Isgur-Wise function for $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ drops faster than that for $B \to D$. The differential and total decay widths for $Λ_b \to Λ_c l \barν$ are given in the limit $m_{b,c}\to \infty$.
