Microscopic description of the proton halo in $^{12}$N

The year 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the discovery of halo nuclei and the 15th anniversary of the development of the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc). In this work, we present the first DRHBc description of the proton halo phenomenon. The available experimental proton separation energies and empirical matter root-mean-square (rms) radii are reasonably well reproduced for the $N=5$ isotones, ranging from the stable nucleus $^{9}$Be to the drip-line nucleus $^{12}$N. In particular, the DRHBc theory captures the abrupt increase in rms radii at $^{12}$N, unambiguously corroborating its proton halo structure. The formation of this halo is attributed to the occupation of a weakly bound orbital with dominant $1p$ components by the valence proton, which contributes approximately $90\%$ to the diffused proton density of $^{12}$N at large distances from the nuclear center. A shape decoupling between the prolate core and the oblate halo in $^{12}$N is predicted.

Development of the poloidal Charge eXchange Recombination Spectroscopy system in Heliotron J

A Charge eXchange Recombination Spectroscopy (CXRS) system designed to measure the poloidal rotation velocity is developed in Heliotron J. The poloidal CXRS system measures the carbon emission line (C VI, n=8-7, 529.05nm) and the Doppler shift of the emission line provides the information of plasma rotation velocity. A high throughput photographic-lens monochromator (F/2.8) with 0.73nm/mm dispersion is adopted to achieve high rotation velocity and temporal resolution. Since two heating neutral beams from two tangential injectors (NBI) are used as the diagnostic beams, a wide observation range (0.26 < 0.06) at peripheral region (r/a>0.6). The system design and the calibration method are presented. The initial results of poloidal rotation measurement show an electron diamagnetic rotation in an NBI heated plasma, while an ion diamagnetic rotation is observed when ECH is additionally applied. The evaluated radial electric field profile shows a positive Er at plasma core region in the ECH+NBI plasma, and a negative Er in the NBI heated plasma.

Charge ordering in charge-compensated $Na_{0.41}CoO_2$ by oxonium ions

Charge ordering behavior is observed in the crystal prepared through the immersion of the $Na_{0.41}CoO_2$ crystal in distilled water. Discovery of the charge ordering in the crystal with Na content less than 0.5 indicates that the immersion in water brings about the reduction of the $Na_{0.41}CoO_2$. The formal valence of Co changes from +3.59 estimated from the Na content to +3.5, the same as that in $Na_{0.5}CoO_2$. The charge compensation is confirmed to arise from the intercalation of the oxonium ions as occurred in the superconducting sodium cobalt oxide bilayer-hydrate.\cite{takada1} The charge ordering is the same as that observed in $Na_{0.5}CoO_2$. It suggests that the Co valence of +3.5 is necessary for the charge ordering.

Effect of oxygen content on the transport properties and magnetoresistance in [Ca$_{2}$CoO$_{3-δ}$]$_{0.62}$[CoO$_{2}$] single crystals

Transport property is investigated in [Ca$_{2}$CoO$_{3-δ}$]$_{0.62}$[CoO$_{2}$] single crystals obtained by varying annealing conditions. The $ρ_{ab}(T)$ exhibits a resistivity minimum, and the temperature corresponding to this minimum increases with the loss of oxygen content, indicative of the enhancement of spin density wave (SDW). Large negative magnetoresistance (MR) was observed in all single crystals [Ca$_{2}$CoO$_{3-δ}$]$_{0.62}$[CoO$_{2}$], while a magnetic-field-driven insulator-to-metal (IM) transition in oxygen annealed samples. These results suggest a ferromagnetic correlation in system enhanced by oxygen content. In addition, a low temperature thermal activation resistivity induced by fields was observed in single crystals annealed in oxygen atmosphere.

Dimensional crossover and anomalous magnetoresistivity in single crystals $Na_xCoO_2$

The in-plane ($ρ_{ab}$) and c-axis ($ρ_c$) resistivities, and the magnetoresistivity of single crystals $Na_xCoO_2$ with x = 0.7, 0.5 and 0.3 were studied systematically. $ρ_{ab}(T)$ shows similar temperature dependence between $Na_{0.3}CoO_2$ and $Na_{0.7}CoO_2$, while $ρ_c(T)$ is quite different. A dimensional crossover from two to three occurs with decreasing Na concentration from 0.7 to 0.3. The angular dependence of in-plane magnetoresistivity for 0.5 sample shows a \emph{"d-wave-like"} symmetry at 2K, while the \emph{"p-wave-like"} symmetry at 20 K. These results give an evidence for existence of a \emph{spin ordering orientation} below 20 K turned by external field, like the stripes in cuprates.
