Detecting the polarization in $χ_{cJ} \to ϕϕ$ decays to probe hadronic loop effect

In this work, we propose that detecting the polarization information of $χ_{cJ}\to ϕϕ~(J=0,1,2)$ can be as good test of the role of hadronic loop effect on these decays. Our results shows that the obtained ratios of helicity amplitudes are quite stable, which are $|F_{1,1}^{(0)}/F_{0,0}^{(0)}| \approx 0.359$, $|F_{1,0}^{(1)}/F_{0,1}^{(1)}| =1$, $|F_{1,1}^{(1)}/F_{0,1}^{(1)}| =0$, $|F^{(2)}_{1,0}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}|=|F^{(2)}_{0,1}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}| \approx 1.285,~|F^{(2)}_{1,-1}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}|=|F^{(2)}_{-1,1}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}| \approx 5.110$ and $|F^{(2)}_{-1,-1}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}|=|F^{(2)}_{1,1}|/|F^{(2)}_{0,0}| \approx 0.465$. By adopting these predicted ratios, we further generate Monte-Carlo events of moments $\langle t_{ij} \rangle$, which are directly related to the determination of helicity amplitudes. We suggest further experiments like BESIII and Belle II to perform an analysis on the polarizations of the $χ_{cJ}\to ϕϕ$ process in the future, which is important to understand the underlying decay mechanism existing in $χ_{cJ}$ decays.

Mapping a new cluster of charmoniumlike structures at $e^+e^-$ collisions

In this work, we find a Critical Energy induced Enhancement (CEE) mechanism for the general three-body open-charm process at the $e^+e^-$ collisions, which utilizes the peculiar kinematic behavior of the $e^+e^-$ annihilation process involving three-body final states. We present a general analysis of a three-body process $e^+e^-\to BC\to B(C\to DE)$. When the center-of-mass (CM) energy of the $e^+e^-$ collision satisfies a critical relation $\sqrt{s}=m_B+m_C$, there clearly exists the reflection peak of an intermediate $C$ state near the threshold of the invariant mass distribution of $m_{BE}$ or $m_{BD}$, whose formation is very sensitive to the CM energy. The reflection enhancement phenomenon induced at the critical energy means that a new cluster of charmoniumlike structures can be experimentally mapped. Taking an example of $e^+e^-\to D_s^{*-}D_{s2}^*(2573)^+ \to D_s^{*-}(D^0K^+)$, we further illustrate this novel phenomenon when $\sqrt{s}=4.680$ GeV. What is more important is that a series of optimal CM energy points to search for new charmoniumlike structures in three-body open-charm processes from $e^+e^-$ annihilation are suggested, which can be accessible at BESIII and further BelleII as a new research topic.

Establishing the first hidden-charm pentaquark with strangeness

We study the $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ recently observed by LHCb using the method of QCD sum rules. Our results support its interpretation as the $\bar D^* Ξ_c$ hadronic molecular state of either $J^P=1/2^-$ or $3/2^-$. Within the hadronic molecular picture, the three LHCb experiments observing $P_c$ and $P_{cs}$ states \cite{lhcb,Aaij:2015tga,Aaij:2019vzc} can be well understood as a whole. This strongly supports the existence of hadronic molecules, whose studies can significantly improve our understanding on the construction of the subatomic world. To verify this picture, we propose to further investigate the $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ to examine whether it can be separated into two states, and to search for the $\bar D Ξ_c$ molecular state of $J^P=1/2^-$.

Predicting a new resonance as charmed-strange baryonic analog of $D_{s0}^*(2317)$

By an unquenched quark model, we predict a charmed-strange baryon state, namely, the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$. Its mass is predicted to be 2945 MeV, which is below the $Ξ_c\bar{K}$ threshold due to the nontrivial coupled-channel effect. So the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$ state could be regraded as the analog of the charmed-strange meson $D_{s0}^*(2317)$. It is a good opportunity for the running Belle II experiment to search for this state in the $Ω_c^{(*)}γ$ mass spectrum experiment in the future.

East Asian VLBI Network Observations of Active Galactic Nuclei Jets: Imaging with KaVA+Tianma+Nanshan

The East Asian very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) Network (EAVN) is a rapidly evolving international VLBI array that is currently promoted under joint efforts among China, Japan, and Korea. EAVN aims at forming a joint VLBI Network by combining a large number of radio telescopes distributed over East Asian regions. After the combination of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) and the VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA) into KaVA, further expansion with the joint array in East Asia is actively promoted. Here we report the first imaging results (at 22 and 43 GHz) of bright radio sources obtained with KaVA connected to Tianma 65-m and Nanshan 26-m Radio Telescopes in China. To test the EAVN imaging performance for different sources, we observed four active galactic nuclei (AGN) having different brightness and morphology. As a result, we confirmed that Tianma 65-m Radio Telescope (TMRT) significantly enhances the overall array sensitivity, a factor of 4 improvement in baseline sensitivity and 2 in image dynamic range compared to the case of KaVA only. The addition of Nanshan 26-m Radio Telescope (NSRT) further doubled the east-west angular resolution. With the resulting high-dynamic-range, high-resolution images with EAVN (KaVA+TMRT+NSRT), various fine-scale structures in our targets, such as the counter-jet in M87, a kink-like morphology of the 3C273 jet and the weak emission in other sources, are successfully detected. This demonstrates the powerful capability of EAVN to study AGN jets and to achieve other science goals in general. Ongoing expansion of EAVN will further enhance the angular resolution, detection sensitivity and frequency coverage of the network.

Fully heavy pentaquarks

Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration reported a fully charmed tetraquark state $X(6900)$ in the invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψ$ pairs. If one $J/ψ$ meson is replaced with a fully charmed baryon, we obtain a fully charmed pentaquark candidate. In this work, we perform a systematic study on the mass spectra of the S-wave fully heavy pentaquark $QQQQ\bar{Q}$ in the framework of the chromomagnetic interaction model. Based on our results in two different schemes, we further investigate the decay behaviors for them. We hope that our study will be helpful in searching for such types of exotic pentaquark states in experiments in the future.

Deep Learning Based Defect Detection for Solder Joints on Industrial X-Ray Circuit Board Images

Quality control is of vital importance during electronics production. As the methods of producing electronic circuits improve, there is an increasing chance of solder defects during assembling the printed circuit board (PCB). Many technologies have been incorporated for inspecting failed soldering, such as X-ray imaging, optical imaging, and thermal imaging. With some advanced algorithms, the new technologies are expected to control the production quality based on the digital images. However, current algorithms sometimes are not accurate enough to meet the quality control. Specialists are needed to do a follow-up checking. For automated X-ray inspection, joint of interest on the X-ray image is located by region of interest (ROI) and inspected by some algorithms. Some incorrect ROIs deteriorate the inspection algorithm. The high dimension of X-ray images and the varying sizes of image dimensions also challenge the inspection algorithms. On the other hand, recent advances on deep learning shed light on image-based tasks and are competitive to human levels. In this paper, deep learning is incorporated in X-ray imaging based quality control during PCB quality inspection. Two artificial intelligence (AI) based models are proposed and compared for joint defect detection. The noised ROI problem and the varying sizes of imaging dimension problem are addressed. The efficacy of the proposed methods are verified through experimenting on a real-world 3D X-ray dataset. By incorporating the proposed methods, specialist inspection workload is largely saved.

Hidden-charm pentaquarks with triple strangeness due to the $Ω_{c}^{(*)}\bar{D}_s^{(*)}$ interactions

Motivated by the successful interpretation of these observed $P_c$ and $P_{cs}$ states under the meson-baryon molecular picture, we systematically investigate the possible hidden-charm molecular pentaquark states with triple strangeness which is due to the $Ω_{c}^{(*)}\bar{D}_s^{(*)}$ interactions. We perform a dynamical calculation of the possible hidden-charm molecular pentaquarks with triple strangeness by the one-boson-exchange model, where the $S$-$D$ wave mixing effect and the coupled channel effect are taken into account in our calculation. Our results suggest that the $Ω_{c}\bar D_s^*$ state with $J^P={3}/{2}^{-}$ and the $Ω_{c}^{*}\bar D_s^*$ state with $J^P={5}/{2}^{-}$ can be recommended as the candidates of the hidden-charm molecular pentaquark with triple strangeness. Furthermore, we discuss the two-body hidden-charm strong decay behaviors of these possible hidden-charm molecular pentaquarks with triple strangeness by adopting the quark-interchange model. These predictions are expected to be tested at the LHCb, which can be as a potential research issue with more accumulated experimental data in near future.

A compact core-jet structure in the changing-look Seyfert NGC 2617

The nearby face-on spiral galaxy NGC 2617 underwent an unambiguous 'inside-out' multi-wavelength outburst in Spring 2013, and a dramatic Seyfert type change probably between 2010 and 2012, with the emergence of broad optical emission lines. To search for the jet activity associated with this variable accretion activity, we carried out multi-resolution and multi-wavelength radio observations. Using the very long baseline interferometric (VLBI) observations with the European VLBI Network (EVN) at 1.7 and 5.0 GHz, we find that NGC 2617 shows a partially synchrotron self-absorbed compact radio core with a significant core shift, and an optically thin steep-spectrum jet extending towards the north up to about two parsecs in projection. We also observed NGC 2617 with the electronic Multi-Element Remotely Linked Interferometer Network (e-MERLIN) at 1.5 and 5.5 GHz, and revisited the archival data of the Very Large Array (VLA) and the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA). The radio core had a stable flux density of about 1.4 mJy at 5.0 GHz between 2013 June and 2014 January, in agreement with the expectation of a supermassive black hole in the low accretion rate state. The northern jet component is unlikely to be associated with the 'inside-out' outburst of 2013. Moreover, we report that most optically selected changing-look AGN at z<0.83 are sub-mJy radio sources in the existing VLA surveys at 1.4 GHz, and it is unlikely that they are more active than normal AGN at radio frequencies.

Electron-Ion Collider in China

Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as nuclei. As a future high energy nuclear physics project, an Electron-ion collider in China (EicC) has been proposed. It will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator, High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) which is currently under construction, together with a new electron ring. The proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons (with a polarization of $\sim$80%) and protons (with a polarization of $\sim$70%) with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of (2-3) $\times$ 10$^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. Polarized deuterons and Helium-3, as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium, will be also available at the EicC. The main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region, including 3D tomography of nucleon; the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment; the exotic states, especially those with heavy flavor quark contents. In addition, issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the EicC. In order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals, a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge technologies. This document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the globe. The EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EIC project in the United States. The success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China.

Prediction of hidden-charm pentaquarks with double strangeness

Inspired by the recent evidence of $P_{cs}(4459)$ reported by LHCb, we continue to perform the investigation of hidden-charm molecular pentaquarks with double strangeness, which are composed of an $S$-wave charmed baryon $Ξ_c^{(\prime,*)}$ and an $S$-wave anti-charmed-strange meson $\bar{D}_s^{(*)}$. Both the $S$-$D$ wave mixing effect and the coupled channel effect are taken into account in realistic calculation. A dynamics calculation shows that there may exist two types of hidden-charm molecular pentaquark with double strangeness, i.e., the $Ξ_{c}^{*}\bar D_s^*$ molecular state with $J^P={5}/{2}^{-}$ and the $Ξ_{c}^{\prime}\bar D_s^*$ molecular state with $J^P={3}/{2}^{-}$. According to this result, we strongly suggest the experimental exploration of hidden-charm molecular pentaquarks with double strangeness. Facing such opportunity, obviously the LHCb will have great potential to hunt for them, with the data accumulation at Run III and after High-Luminosity-LHC upgrade.

Time-Series Regeneration with Convolutional Recurrent Generative Adversarial Network for Remaining Useful Life Estimation

For health prognostic task, ever-increasing efforts have been focused on machine learning-based methods, which are capable of yielding accurate remaining useful life (RUL) estimation for industrial equipment or components without exploring the degradation mechanism. A prerequisite ensuring the success of these methods depends on a wealth of run-to-failure data, however, run-to-failure data may be insufficient in practice. That is, conducting a substantial amount of destructive experiments not only is high costs, but also may cause catastrophic consequences. Out of this consideration, an enhanced RUL framework focusing on data self-generation is put forward for both non-cyclic and cyclic degradation patterns for the first time. It is designed to enrich data from a data-driven way, generating realistic-like time-series to enhance current RUL methods. First, high-quality data generation is ensured through the proposed convolutional recurrent generative adversarial network (CR-GAN), which adopts a two-channel fusion convolutional recurrent neural network. Next, a hierarchical framework is proposed to combine generated data into current RUL estimation methods. Finally, the efficacy of the proposed method is verified through both non-cyclic and cyclic degradation systems. With the enhanced RUL framework, an aero-engine system following non-cyclic degradation has been tested using three typical RUL models. State-of-art RUL estimation results are achieved by enhancing capsule network with generated time-series. Specifically, estimation errors evaluated by the index score function have been reduced by 21.77%, and 32.67% for the two employed operating conditions, respectively. Besides, the estimation error is reduced to zero for the Lithium-ion battery system, which presents cyclic degradation.

Potential higher radial excitations in the light pseudoscalar meson family

Inspired by the event accumulation around 2.6 GeV in the $η^\primeπ^+π^-$ invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψ\to γη^\primeπ^+π^-$, which was reported by the BESIII Collaboration, we carry out the study of the mass spectrum and decay behavior of four radial excitations in the pseudoscalar meson family, which include $η^{(\prime)}(6S)$ and $η^{(\prime)}(7S)$. Combining with these analysis, we present the calculation of the reactions induced by a pion or kaon on the proton target which are relevant to these four discussed states. According to this information, we give concrete experimental suggestion of searching for them, which will become a new task for future experiments.

Simple Smale flows and their templates on $S^3$

The embedded template is a geometric tool in dynamics being used to model knots and links as periodic orbits of $3$-dimensional flows. We prove that for an embedded template in $S^3$ with fixed homeomorphism type, its boundary as a trivalent spatial graph is a complete isotopic invariant. Moreover, we construct an invariant of embedded templates by Kauffman's invariant of spatial graphs, which is a set of knots and links. As application, the isotopic classification of simple Smale flows on $S^3$ is discussed.

Fully-heavy structures in the invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψψ(3686)$, $J/ψψ(3770)$, $ψ(3686) ψ(3686)$, and $J/ψΥ(1S)$ at hadron colliders

Motivated by a recent successful dynamical explanation for the newly observed fully-charm structure $X(6900)$ in the mass spectrum of di-$J/ψ$ by LHCb [J.~Z.~Wang \textit{et al.} arXiv:2008.07430], in this work, we extend the same dynamical rescattering mechanism to predict the line shape of more potential fully-heavy structures in the invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψψ(3686)$, $J/ψψ(3770)$, $ψ(3686) ψ(3686)$, and $J/ψΥ(1S)$ at high energy proton-proton collisions, whose verification in experiments should be helpful to further clarify the nature of $X(6900)$. The above final states of vector heavy quarkonia can be experimentally reconstructed more effectively by a $μ^+μ^-$ pair in the muon detector compared with $Q\bar{Q}$ meson with other quantum numbers. Furthermore, the corresponding peak mass positions of each of predicted fully-heavy structures are also given. Our theoretical studies here could provide some valuable information for the future measurement proposals of LHCb and CMS, especially based on the accumulated data after completing Run III of LHC in the near future.

Alpha Discovery Neural Network based on Prior Knowledge

Genetic programming (GP) is the state-of-the-art in financial automated feature construction task. It employs reverse polish expression to represent features and then conducts the evolution process. However, with the development of deep learning, more powerful feature extraction tools are available. This paper proposes Alpha Discovery Neural Network (ADNN), a tailored neural network structure which can automatically construct diversified financial technical indicators based on prior knowledge. We mainly made three contributions. First, we use domain knowledge in quantitative trading to design the sampling rules and object function. Second, pre-training and model pruning has been used to replace genetic programming, because it can conduct more efficient evolution process. Third, the feature extractors in ADNN can be replaced by different feature extractors and produce different functions. The experiment results show that ADNN can construct more informative and diversified features than GP, which can effectively enriches the current factor pool. The fully-connected network and recurrent network are better at extracting information from the financial time series than the convolution neural network. In real practice, features constructed by ADNN can always improve multi-factor strategies' revenue, sharpe ratio, and max draw-down, compared with the investment strategies without these factors.

Universal non-resonant explanation to charmoniumlike structures $Z_c(3885)$ and $Z_c(4025)$

Different from the usual tetraquark assignment to charged $Z_c(3885)$ and $Z_c(4025)$ charmoniumlike structures, in this letter we propose a universal non-resonant explanation to decode these $Z_c$'s, which is based on a special dynamical behavior of $e^+e^-\to D^{(*)}\bar{D}^*π$. Our study shows that $Z_c(3885)$ and $Z_c(4025)$ are only the reflection from the $P$-wave charmed meson $D_1(2420)$ involved in $e^+e^-\to D^{(*)}\bar{D}^*π$. Obviously, the present work provides a unique perspective, which can be examined by future experiments like BESIII and BelleII.

Exotic double-charm molecular states with hidden or open strangeness and around $4.5\sim 4.7$ GeV

In this work, we investigate the interactions between the charmed-strange meson ($D_s, D_s^{*}$) in $H$-doublet and the (anti-)charmed-strange meson ($D_{s1}, D_{s2}^{*}$) in $T$-doublet, where the one boson exchange model is adopted by considering the $S$-$D$ wave mixing and the coupled-channel effects. By extracting the effective potentials for the discussed $H_s\bar{T}_s$ and $H_s{T}_s$ systems, we try to find the bound state solutions for the corresponding systems. We predict the possible hidden-charm hadronic molecular states with hidden strangeness, i.e., the $D_s^{*}\bar D_{s1}+c.c.$ states with $J^{PC}$=$0^{--}, 0^{-+}$ and the $D_s^{*}\bar D_{s2}^{*}+c.c.$ states with $J^{PC}$=$1^{--}, 1^{-+}$. Applying the same theoretical framework, we also discuss the $H_s T_s$ systems. Unfortunately, the existence of the open-charm and open-strange molecular states corresponding to the $H_s T_s$ systems can be excluded.
