Chromopolarizabilities of fully-heavy baryons

We compute the chromopolarizabilities of the fully heavy baryons $Ω_{QQQ'}$ ($Q,Q'=b,c$) in the framework of potential nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics. At leading order, the fully heavy hadrons are considered as ground chromo-Coulombic bound states. We find that the chromopolarizability $β_Ω$ of a fully heavy baryon $QQQ$ is 2.6 times the chromopolarizability $β_ψ$ of the quarkonium $\bar{Q}Q$ with the same heavy quark flavor $Q$. This result is accurate up to the correction of the order 0.3 for $Q=b$ and provides an order-of-magnitude estimate for $Q=c$. We discuss the dependence of the ratio $β_Ω/β_ψ$ on the heavy quark mass $m_Q$ and the strong coupling constant $α_s$ as well as on the ratio of the masses $m_{Q'}/m_Q$, in the case not all quarks in the baryon are identical. Since the chromopolarizability of heavy hadrons defines the strength of their interaction at low energies mediated by soft gluons, which at long range hadronize into pairs of pions and kaons, our findings argue in favor of the existence of near-threshold states composed of pairs of fully heavy baryons.

Establishing the heavy quark spin and light flavor molecular multiplets of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$ and $X(3960)$

Recently, the LHCb Collaboration reported a near-threshold enhancement, $X(3960)$, in the $D_s^+D_s^-$ invariant mass distribution. We show that the data can be well described by either a bound or a virtual state below the $D_s^+D_s^-$ threshold. The mass given by the pole position is $(3928\pm3)$ MeV. Using this mass and the existing information on the $X(3872)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ resonances, a complete spectrum of the $S$-wave hadronic molecules formed by a pair of ground state charmed and anticharmed mesons is established. Thus, pole positions of the partners of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$ and the newly observed $D_s^+D_s^-$ state are predicted. Calculations have been carried out at the leading order of nonrelativistic effective field theory and considering both heavy quark spin and light flavor SU(3) symmetries, though conservative errors from the breaking of these symmetries are provided.

Prediction of a narrow exotic hadronic state with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{--}$

Lots of charmonium-like structures have been observed in the last two decades. Most of them have quantum numbers that can be formed by a pair of charm and anticharm quarks, thus it is difficult to unambiguously identify the exotic ones among them. In this Letter, by exploiting heavy quark spin symmetry, we present a robust prediction of the hadronic molecular scenario, where the $ψ(4230),ψ(4360)$ and $ψ(4415)$ are identified as $D\bar D_1,D^*\bar D_1$ and $D^*\bar D^*_2$ bound states, respectively. We show that a flavor-neutral charmonium-like exotic state with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{--}$, denoted as $ψ_0(4360)$, should exist as a $D^*\bar D_1$ bound state. The mass and width of the $ψ_0(4360)$} are predicted to be $(4366\pm18)$ MeV and less than 10 MeV, respectively. The $ψ_0(4360)$ is significant in two folds: no $0^{--}$ hadron has been observed so far, and a study of this state will enlighten the understanding of the mysterious vector mesons between 4.2 and 4.5 GeV, as well as the nature of previously observed exotic $Z_c$ and $P_c$ states. We propose that such an exotic state can be searched for in $e^+e^-\to ηψ_0(4360)$ and uniquely identified by measuring the angular distribution of the outgoing $η$ meson.

Interpretation of the $η_1(1855)$ as a $K\bar K_1(1400)+$ c.c. molecule

An exotic state with $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$, denoted by $η_1(1855)$, was observed by BESIII collaboration recently in $J/ψ\to γηη'$. The fact that its mass is just below the threshold of $K\bar K_1(1400)$ stimulates us to investigate whether this exotic state can be interpreted as a $K\bar K_1(1400)+$ c.c { molecule or not}. Using the one boson exchange model, we show that it is possible for $K\bar K_1(1400)$ with $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ to bind together by taking the momentum cutoff $Λ\gtrsim 2$ GeV and yield the same binding energy as the experimental value when $Λ\approx 2.5$ GeV. In this molecular picture, the predicted branch ratio $\mathrm{Br}(η_1(1855)\toηη') \approx 15\%$ is consistent with the experimental results, which again supports the molecular explanation of $η_1(1855)$. Relevant systems, namely $K\bar K_1(1400)$ with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ and $K\bar K_1(1270)$ with $J^{PC}=1^{-\pm}$, are also investigated, some of which can be searched for in the future experiments.

Effective range expansion for narrow near-threshold resonances

We discuss some general features of the effective range expansion, the content of its parameters with respect to the nature of the pertinent near-threshold states and the necessary modifications in the presence of coupled channels, isospin violations and unstable constituents. As illustrative examples, we analyse the properties of the $χ_{c1}(3872)$ and $T_{cc}^+$ states supporting the claim that these exotic states have a predominantly molecular nature.

Coupled-channel approach to $T_{cc}^+$ including three-body effects

A coupled-channel approach is applied to the charged tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration. The parameters of the interaction are fixed by a fit to the observed line shape in the three-body $D^0D^0π^+$ channel. Special attention is paid to the three-body dynamics in the $T_{cc}^+$ due to the finite life time of the $D^*$. An approach to the $T_{cc}^+$ is argued to be self-consistent only if both manifestations of the three-body dynamics, the pion exchange between the $D$ and $D^*$ mesons and the finite $D^*$ width, are taken into account simultaneously to ensure that three-body unitarity is preserved. This is especially important to precisely extract the pole position in the complex energy plane whose imaginary part is very sensitive to the details of the coupled-channel scheme employed. The $D^0D^0$ and $D^0D^+$ invariant mass distributions, predicted based on this analysis, are in good agreement with the LHCb data. The low-energy expansion of the $D^*D$ scattering amplitude is performed and the low-energy constants (the scattering length and effective range) are extracted. The compositeness parameter of the $T_{cc}^+$ is found to be close to unity, which implies that the $T_{cc}^+$ is a hadronic molecule generated by the interactions in the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels. Employing heavy-quark spin symmetry, an isoscalar $D^*D^*$ molecular partner of the $T_{cc}^+$ with $J^P=1^+$ is predicted under the assumption that the $ DD^*$-$D^*D^*$ coupled-channel effects can be neglected.

A survey of heavy-heavy hadronic molecules

The spectrum of hadronic molecules composed of heavy-antiheavy charmed hadrons has been obtained in our previous work. The potentials are constants at the leading order, which are estimated from resonance saturation. The experimental candidates of hadronic molecules, say $X(3872)$, $Y(4260)$, three $P_c$ states and $P_{cs}(4459)$, fit the spectrum well. The success in describing the pattern of heavy-antiheavy hadronic molecules stimulates us to give more predictions for the heavy-heavy cases, which are less discussed in literature than the heavy-antiheavy ones. Given that the heavy-antiheavy hadronic molecules, several of which have strong experimental evidence, emerge from the dominant constant interaction from resonance saturation, we find that the existence of many heavy-heavy hadronic molecules is natural. Among these predicted heavy-heavy states we highlight the $DD^*$ molecule and the $D^{(*)}Σ_c^{(*)}$ molecules, which are the partners of the famous $X(3872)$ and $P_c$ states. Quite recently, LHCb collaboration reported a doubly charmed tetraquark state, $T_{cc}$, which is in line with our results for the $DD^*$ molecule. With the first experimental signal of this new kind of exotic states, the upcoming 3pdate of the LHCb experiment as well as other experiments will provide more chances of observing the heavy-heavy hadronic molecules.

Is the existence of a $J/ψJ/ψ$ bound state plausible?

In a recent measurement LHCb reported pronounced structures in the $J/ψJ/ψ$ spectrum. One of the various possible explanations of those is that they emerge from non-perturbative interactions of vector charmonia. It is thus important to understand whether it is possible to form a bound state of two charmonia interacting through the exchange of gluons, which hadronise into two pions at the longest distance. In this paper, we demonstrate that, given our current understanding of hadron-hadron interactions, the exchange of correlated light mesons (pions and kaons) is able to provide sizeable attraction to the di-$J/ψ$ system, and it is possible for two $J/ψ$ mesons to form a bound state. As a side result we find from an analysis of the data for the $ψ(2S)\to J/ψππ$ transition including both $ππ$ and $K\bar K$ final state interactions an improved value for the $ψ(2S)\to J/ψ$ transition chromo-electric polarisability: $|α_{ψ(2S)J/ψ}|= (1.8\pm 0.1)~\mbox{GeV}^{-3}$, where the uncertainty also includes the one induced by the final state interactions.

Coupled-channel interpretation of the LHCb double-$J/ψ$ spectrum and hints of a new state near the $J/ψJ/ψ$ threshold

Recently, the LHCb Collaboration reported pronounced structures in the invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψ$-pairs produced in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. In this Letter, we argue that the data can be very well described within two variants of a coupled-channel approach employing $T$-matrices consistent with unitarity: (i) with just two channels, $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)J/ψ$, as long as energy-dependent interactions in these channels are allowed, or (ii) with three channels $J/ψJ/ψ$, $ψ(2S)J/ψ$ and $ψ(3770)J/ψ$ with just constant contact interactions. Both formulations hint at the existence of a near-threshold state in the $J/ψJ/ψ$ system with the quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ or $2^{++}$, which we refer to as $X(6200)$. We suggest experimental tests to check the existence of this state and discuss what additional channels need to be studied experimentally to allow for distinctive tests between the two mechanisms proposed. If the molecular nature of the $X(6200)$, as hinted by the three-channel approach, is confirmed, many other double-quarkonium states should exist driven by the same binding mechanism. In particular, there should be an $η_cη_c$ molecule with a similar binding energy.

A survey of heavy-antiheavy hadronic molecules

Many efforts have been made to reveal the nature of the overabundant resonant structures observed by the worldwide experiments in the last two decades. Hadronic molecules attract special attention because many of these seemingly unconventional resonances are located close to the threshold of a pair of hadrons. To give an overall feature of the spectrum of hadronic molecules composed of a pair of heavy-antiheavy hadrons, namely, which pairs are possible to form molecular states, we take charmed hadrons for example to investigate the interaction between them and search for poles by solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation. We consider all possible combinations of hadron pairs of the $S$-wave singly-charmed mesons and baryons as well as the narrow $P$-wave charmed mesons. The interactions, which are assumed to be meson-exchange saturated, are described by constant contact terms which are resummed to generate poles. It turns out that if a system is attractive near threshold by the light meson exchange, there is a pole close to threshold corresponding to a bound state or a virtual state, depending on the strength of interaction and the cutoff. In total, 229 molecular states are predicted. The observed near-threshold structures with hidden-charm, like the famous $X(3872)$ and $P_c$ states, fit into the spectrum we obtain. We also highlight a $Λ_c\bar Λ_c$ bound state that has a pole consistent with the cross section of the $e^+e^-\toΛ_c\bar Λ_c$ precisely measured by the BESIII Collaboration.

Prediction of possible $DK_1$ bound states

Stimulated by recent experimental observation of $X_1(2900)$ just below the $\bar D_1K$ threshold, we extend our previous study of $\bar D_1D$ S-wave bound state by vector meson exchange to $\bar D_1K$ system as well as similar $\bar DK_1$, $D_1K$ and $DK_1$ systems to look for possible bound states. We find that the potential of $D K_1$ is attractive and strong enough to form bound states with mass around 3110 MeV for $DK_1(1270)$ and 3240 MeV for $DK_1(1400)$. $D_1 K$ is also attractive but weaker, hardly enough to form bound states. While $\bar DK_1$ becomes further less attractive, the potential between $\bar D_1 K$ is the weakest, definitely too weak to form any bound state, which excludes the recently observed $X_1(2900)$ to be a $\bar D_1 K$ bound state. We also give the decay properties of the predicted $D K_1$ bound states.

Explaining the Many Threshold Structures in the Heavy-Quark Hadron Spectrum

Tremendous progress has been made experimentally in the hadron spectrum containing heavy quarks in the last two decades. It is surprising that many resonant structures are around thresholds of a pair of heavy hadrons. There should be a threshold cusp at any $S$-wave threshold. By constructing a nonrelativistic effective field theory with open channels, we discuss the generalities of threshold behavior, and offer an explanation of the abundance of near-threshold peaks in the heavy quarkonium regime. We show that the threshold cusp can show up as a peak only for channels with attractive interaction, and the width of the cusp is inversely proportional to the reduced mass relevant for the threshold. We argue that there should be threshold structures at any threshold of a pair of heavy-quark and heavy-antiquark hadrons, which have attractive interaction at threshold, in the invariant mass distribution of a heavy quarkonium and light hadrons that couple to that open-flavor hadron pair. The structure becomes more pronounced if there is a near-threshold pole. Predictions of the possible pairs are also given for the ground state heavy hadrons. Precisely measuring the threshold structures will play an important role in revealing the heavy-hadron interactions, and thus understanding the puzzling hidden-charm and hidden-bottom structures.

Prediction of an exotic state around 4240 MeV with $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ as C-parity partner of Y(4260) in molecular picture

The possibility of the Y(4260) being the molecular state of $D\bar D_1(2420)+\mathrm{c.c.}$ is investigated in the one boson exchange model. It turns out that the potential of $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ state formed by $D\bar D_1(2420)+\mathrm{c.c.}$ is attractive and strong enough to bind them together when the momentum cutoff $Λ\gtrsim 1.4$ GeV. To produce the Y(4260) with correct binding energy, we need $Λ\approx 2.1$ GeV. Besides, $D\bar D_1(2420)+\mathrm{c.c.}$ can also form a state with exotic quantum numbers, $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$, and its potential similar with that of the $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ state. Therefore, an exotic state with mass around 4240 MeV (called $η_{c1}(4240)$) is predicted to exist. Our estimation of the mass of the $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ state in charmonium region is in agreement with those predicted by the chiral quark model and the lattice QCD. The possible decay modes and their relative widths are estimated and the results suggest that this exotic state can be searched for in $ηη_c$ and $ηχ_{c1}$ channels.

Hadronic cross section of $e^+e^-$ annihilation at bottomonium energy region

The Born cross section and dressed cross section of $e^+e^-$ to $b\bar{b}$ and the total hadronic cross section in $e^+e^-$ annihilation in the bottomonium energy region are calculated based on the Rb values measured by the BaBar and Belle experiments. The data are used to calculate the vacuum polarization factors in the bottomonium energy region, and to determine the resonant parameters of the vector bottomonium(-like) states, the Y(10750), Upsilon(5S), and Upsilon(6S).

Derived Born cross sections of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into open charm mesons from CLEO-c measurements

The exclusive Born cross sections of the production of $D^0$, $D^+$ and $D_s^+$ mesons in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at 13 energy points between 3.970 and 4.260 GeV are obtained by applying corrections for initial state radiation and vacuum polarization to the observed cross sections measured by CLEO-c experiment. Both the statistical and the systematic uncertainties for the obtained Born cross sections are properly estimated.
