Universality of the dynamic characteristic relationship of electron correlation in the two-photon double ionization process of a helium-like system

Universality of the dynamic characteristic relationship between the characteristic time $t_c$ and the two-electron Coulomb interaction energy $\overline{V}_{12}$ of the ground state in the two-photon double ionization process is investigated through changing the parameters of the two-electron atomic system and the corresponding laser conditions. The numerical results show that the product $t_{c}\overline{V}_{12}$ keeps constant around 4.1 in the cases of changing the nucleus charge, the electron charge, the electron mass, and changing simultaneously the nucleus charge and the electron charge. These results demonstrate that the dynamic characteristic relationship in the two-photon double ionization process is universal. This work sheds more light on the the dynamic characteristic relationship in ultrafast processes and may find its application in the measurement of attosecond pulses.

Imaging the geometrical structure of complex symmetric molecules by above-threshold ionization spectrum in an IR+XUV laser field

Based on the frequency-domain theory, we put forward a method of imaging the complex symmetrical polyatomic molecules by using IR+XUV two-color laser fields. Although the wave function of a polyatomic molecule, such as SF6, is quite complex in momentum space, it can be simplified by several terms in the region of high value of momentum, where the destructive interference fringes from these terms carry the information of the molecular structure. In this work, we find that, since the XUV laser field may increases the kinetic energy of the photoelectron dramatically in the above-threshold ionization (ATI) process of a molecule in an IR+XUV two-color laser field, the information of the molecular structure can be obtained by analyzing the interference fringes of the ATI spectrum in the high-energy region, where the simplified wave function of the molecule plays a dominant role in this part of the ATI spectrum. This method provides a unique accessible route towards imaging polyatomic molecules from a frequency perspective.

Geometric effects of a quarter of corrugated torus

In the spirit of the thin-layer quantization scheme, we give the effective Shrödinger equation for a particle confined to a corrugated torus, in which the geometric potential is substantially changed by corrugation. We find the attractive wells reconstructed by the corrugation not being at identical depths, which is strikingly different from that of a corrugated nanotube, especially in the inner side of the torus. By numerically calculating the transmission probability, we find that the resonant tunneling peaks and the transmission gaps are merged and broadened by the corrugation of the inner side of torus. These results show that the quarter corrugated torus can be used not only to connect two tubes with different radiuses in different directions, but also to filter the particles with particular incident~energies.

Continuum study on QCD phase diagram through an OPE-modified gluon propagator

Within the Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSEs) framework, a gluon propagator model incorporating quark's feedback through operator product expansion (OPE) is introduced to investigate the QCD phase diagram in the temperature--chemical-potential ($T-μ$) plane. Partial restoration of chiral symmetry at zero temperature and finite temperature are both studied, suggesting a first order phase transition point on the $μ$ axis and a critical end point at $(T_E,μ_E)/T_c = (0.85,1.11)$, where $T_c$ is the pseudo-critical temperature. In addition, we find the pseudo-critical line can be well parameterized with the curvature parameter $κ$ and a consistent decrease in $κ$ with more of gluon propagator distributed to quark's feedback.

Curvature-induced bound states and coherent electron transport on the surface of a truncated cone

We study the curvature-induced bound states and the coherent transport properties for a particle constrained to move on a truncated cone-like surface. With longitudinal hard wall boundary condition, the probability densities and spectra energy shifts are calculated, and are found to be obviously affected by the surface curvature. The bound-state energy levels and energy differences decrease as increasing the vertex angle or the ratio of axial length to bottom radius of the truncated cone. In a two-dimensional (2D) GaAs substrate with this geometric structure, an estimation of the ground-state energy shift of ballistic transport electrons induced by the geometric potential (GP) is addressed, which shows that the fraction of the ground-state energy shift resulting from the surface curvature is unnegligible under some region of geometric parameters. Furthermore, we model a truncated cone-like junction joining two cylinders with different radii, and investigate the effect of the GP on the transmission properties by numerically solving the open-boundary 2D Schrödinger equation with GP on the junction surface. It is shown that the oscillatory behavior of the transmission coefficient as a function of the injection energy is more pronounced when steeper GP wells appear at the two ends of the junction. Moreover, at specific injection energy, the transmission coefficient is oscillating with the ratio of the cylinder radii at incoming and outgoing sides.

Studies of two-solar-mass hybrid stars within the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations

In this paper we introduce an equation of state (EOS) of quark matter within the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSEs) to study the structure of compact stars. The smooth crossover from hadronic matter to quark matter in the hybrid star is studied. We compare different strategies to obtain crossover EOSs and find a new way to construct two-solar-mass hybrid stars with even a relatively soft quark EOS, while earlier works show that the quark EOS should be stiff enough to support a massive hybrid star.

Dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in the NJL model with a constant external magnetic field

In this paper we develop a new method that is different from Schwinger proper time method to deduce the fermion propagator with a constant external magnetic field. In the NJL model, we use this method to find out the gap equation at zero and non-zero temperature, and give the numerical results and phase diagram between magnetic field and temperature. Beside these, we also introduce current mass to study the susceptibilities, because there is a new parameter (the strength of external magnetic field) in this problem, corresponding this new parameter, we have defined a new susceptibility $χ_B$ to compare with the other two susceptibilities $χ_c$ (chiral susceptibility) and $χ_T$ (thermal susceptibility), and all of the three susceptibilities show than when current mass is not zero, the phase transition is a crossover, while for comparison, in the chiral limit, the susceptibilities show a second order phase transition. At last, we give out the critical coefficients of different susceptibilities in the chiral limit.

Pauli equation for a charged spin particle on a curved surface in an electric and magnetic field

We derive the Pauli equation for a charged spin particle confined to move on a spatially curved surface $\mathcal{S}$ in an electromagnetic field. Using the thin-layer quantization scheme to constrain the particle on $\mathcal{S}$, and in the transformed spinor representations, we obtain the well-known geometric potential $V_g$ and the presence of $e^{-iφ}$, which can generate additive spin connection geometric potentials by the curvilinear coordinate derivatives, and we find that the two fundamental evidences in the literature [Giulio Ferrari and Giampaolo Cuoghi, Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 230403 (2008).] are still valid in the present system without source current perpendicular to $\mathcal{S}$. Finally, we apply the surface Pauli equation to spherical, cylindrical, and toroidal surfaces, in which we obtain expectantly the geometric potentials and new spin connection geometric potentials, and find that only the normal Pauli matrix appears in these equations.
