Quaternary-Squeeze Quantum Identity Authentication: Direction-Scaling Security via Single-Mode Squeezed Light

Quantum identity authentication (QIA) has emerged as a crucial technology for secure communication systems, particularly in the burgeoning era of quantum communications. This paper proposes a novel QIA protocol based on non-classical characteristics of squeezed light fields. By exploiting quantum noise reduction properties of quadrature squeezed coherent states, the protocol fundamentally thwarts eavesdropping attempts by Heisenberg-limited uncertainty constraints. The fidelity parameter for decoy states is utilized to detect spoofing attacks, and the dynamic key update mechanism fundamentally eliminates vulnerabilities caused by key reuse. Security information ratio analysis shows that the protocol is able to resist Gaussian-cloner attacks and detect eavesdropping. Moreover, the security threshold can be further enhanced with higher squeezing, allowing tunable protection levels adaptable to different threat scenarios. Compared with binary-squeezed protocols, our proposed four-direction (quaternary-dimensional) squeezing halves the eavesdropper's guessing probability and enlarges the fidelity gap by 29% tightening the discrimination threshold without relying on extra hardware, thus facilitating practical implementation.

Enhanced phase estimation with coherently boosted two-mode squeezed beams and its application to optical gyroscopes

Quantum techniques, developed in recent decades, provide new approaches to achieving high-precision measurements beyond the classical bounds. In this paper, we theoretically demonstrate a metrology method for improving the sensitivity of the interferometric optical gyroscope, robust against the loss, by using coherent-light stimulated two-mode squeezed beams as the light source. The detection protocol is based on a simple intensity measurement, and the quantum noise is far below the shot-noise limit. The enhancement factors for different coherent light fields are analyzed in detail. Additionally, the influence of loss during the propagation in the optical path is studied, and the conditions for achieving sub-shot-noise measurement sensitivity are obtained. We also find that the phase sensitivity of the proposed gyroscope scheme becomes closer to the quantum Cramér-Rao bound with increasing of the photon number of the coherent beams.

Optimizing the phase sensitivity of a Michelson interferometer with a two mode squeezed coherent input

A Michelson-type interferometer with two-mode squeezed coherent state input is considered. Such an interferometer has a better phase sensitivity over the shot-noise limit by a factor of $e^{2r}$, where $r$ is the squeezing parameter [Phys. Rev. A 102,022614 (2020)]. We show that when photon loss and noise in the two arms is asymmetric an optimal choice of the squeezing angle can allow improvement in phase sensitivity without any increase in input or pump power. In particular, when loss occurs only in one arm of the interferometer, we can have improvement in phase sensitivity for photon loss up to 80\%. Hence, a significant improvement can be made in several applications such as LiDAR, gyroscopes and measuring refractive indices of highly absorptive/reflective materials.
