Measurements of strong phase in $D^0\to K\pi$ decay and $y_\mathrm{CP}$ at BESIII

In this paper, I report the preliminary results of the strong phase difference $\cos\delta_{K\pi}$ between the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed process $\overline{D}{}^0\to K^- \pi^+$ and Cabibbo-favored $D^0\to K^- \pi^+$ at BESIII. In addition, the preliminary results of the $D^0$-$\overline{D}{}^0$ mixing parameter $y_\mathrm{CP}$ by analyzing $CP$-tagged semileptonic $D$ decays are presented. These measurements were carried out based on the quantum-correlated technique in studying the process of $D^0\overline{D}{}^0$ pair productions of 2.92 fb$^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at $\sqrt{s}$ = 3.773 GeV.

Simultaneous least squares fitter based on the Lagrange multiplier method

We developed a least squares fitter used for extracting expected physics parameters from the correlated experimental data in high energy physics. This fitter considers the correlations among the observables and handles the nonlinearity using linearization during the $\chi^2$ minimization. This method can naturally be extended to the analysis with external inputs. By incorporating with Lagrange multipliers, the fitter includes constraints among the measured observables and the parameters of interest. We applied this fitter to the study of the $D^{0}-\bar{D}^{0}$ mixing parameters as the test-bed based on MC simulation. The test results show that the fitter gives unbiased estimators with correct uncertainties and the approach is credible.

Study on efficiency of event start time determination at BESIII

A method to estimate efficiency of event start time determination at BESIII is developed. This method estimates the efficiency at the event level by combining the efficiencies of various tracks ($e$, $\mu$, $\pi$, K, $p$, $\gamma$) in a Bayesian way. Efficiencies results and difference between data and MC at the track level are presented in this paper. For a given physics channel, event start time efficiency and systematic error can be estimated following this method.

Recent Progress on Charmonium Decays at BESIII

In 2009, the BESIII experiment has collected about 225M $\jpsi$ and 106M $\psip$ samples, both of which are the world largest on-peak charmonium production. Based on these dataset, BESIII has made great effort on the study of the charmonium decays, some important of which have been reviewed in this proceeding. In addition, a searching for new physics through the $CP/P$ violation process is reported.

The discrete contribution to $\psi^{\prime}\to J/\psi+\gamma\gamma$

The decay mode $\psi(2S)\to J/\psi+\gamma\gamma$ is proposed in order to experimentally identify the effects of the coupling of charmonium states to the continuum $D\bar D$ states. To have a better understanding of such a two-photon decay process, in this work we restrict ourselves to investigate the contribution of the discrete part, in which the photons are mainly produced via the intermediate states $\chi_{cJ}(nP)$. Besides calculating the resonance contributions of $\chi_{cJ}(1P)\; (J=0,1,2)$, we also take into account the contributions of the higher excited states $\chi_{cJ}(2P)$ and the interference effect among the 1P and 2P states. We find that the contribution of the 2P states and the interference terms to the total decay width is very tiny. However, for specific regions of the Dalitz plot, off the resonance peaks, we find that these contributions are sizable and should also be accounted for. We also provide the photon spectrum and study the polarization of $J/\psi$.
