PSALM: applying Proportional SAmpLing strategy in Metamorphic testing

Metamorphic testing (MT) alleviates the oracle problem by checking metamorphic relations (MRs) across multiple test executions. The fault detection effectiveness of MT is influenced not only by the choice and quality of MRs, but also by how source test cases and metamorphic groups (MGs) are selected. While substantial research has focused on designing, generating, and validating MRs, systematic methods for source test case selection and MG selection remain largely unexplored. Although the Proportional Sampling Strategy (PSS) provides strong theoretical guarantees in traditional testing, its assumptions cannot be directly applied in MT due to differences in selection domains, test units, and failure distributions. This paper proposes PSALM, an adaptation of PSS to MT for both source test case selection and MG selection. We formally prove that PSALM is never inferior to random selection regardless of how the source test case and MG domains are partitioned. We further identify the conditions under which applying PSALM to source test case selection and MG selection yields identical effectiveness. A comprehensive empirical study on eight subject programs and 184 mutants shows that the results are consistent with our theoretical analysis and that PSALM generally performs more effectively than existing selection strategies such as ART and MT-ART. These results demonstrate that PSALM provides a theoretically grounded and practically effective selection strategy for MT.

Holographic Wilson Loop One-point Functions in ABJM Theory

We compute the correlation function between a circular half-BPS Wilson loop (or straight Wilson line) and a local operator in ABJM theory utilizing its M-theory description. The local operator can be a $1/3$-BPS single-trace chiral primary operator or the stress-energy tensor. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, these correlators are dual to fluctuations of a probe M2-brane in $AdS_4 \times S^7/\mathbb{Z}_k$. We derive analytic results for both cases and compare them with existing results based on supersymmetric localization in the literature. In the large-$N$ limit with $k$ finite, our holograkphic results exhibit perfect agreement with localization.

Goal-Aware RSS for Complex Scenarios via Program Logic

We introduce a goal-aware extension of responsibility-sensitive safety (RSS), a recent methodology for rule-based safety guarantee for automated driving systems (ADS). Making RSS rules guarantee goal achievement -- in addition to collision avoidance as in the original RSS -- requires complex planning over long sequences of manoeuvres. To deal with the complexity, we introduce a compositional reasoning framework based on program logic, in which one can systematically develop RSS rules for smaller subscenarios and combine them to obtain RSS rules for bigger scenarios. As the basis of the framework, we introduce a program logic dFHL that accommodates continuous dynamics and safety conditions. Our framework presents a dFHL-based workflow for deriving goal-aware RSS rules; we discuss its software support, too. We conducted experimental evaluation using RSS rules in a safety architecture. Its results show that goal-aware RSS is indeed effective in realising both collision avoidance and goal achievement.
