Giant and Helical Exciton Dipole from Berry Curvature in Flat Chern Bands

We show that excitons forming between moiré flat Chern bands possess a substantial electric dipole moment comparable to the moiré lattice parameter times the elementary charge ($\sim10^2$ Debye). At a hole filling factor of one in twisted MoTe$_2$, the dipole moment of the lowest-energy exciton branch develops in-plane helical texture in momentum space from the intrinsic Berry curvature of electron and hole. By solving the Bethe-Salpeter equations, we demonstrate that an out-of-plane displacement field induces a Frenkel-to-Wannier exciton transition, accompanied by a reversal of the dipole texture helicity. The resulting attractive exciton dipole-dipole interactions lead to quadrupolar biexcitons that can be probed via two-photon spectroscopy. Our findings establish band topology as a tunable knob to engineer exciton dipole moments and pave the way to manipulate many-body interactions in the terahertz regime.

Generative Channel Knowledge Base With Environmental Information for Joint Source-Channel Coding in Semantic Communications

Semantic knowledge bases are regarded as a promising technology for upcoming 6G communications. However, existing studies mainly focus on source-side semantic modeling while overlooking the structural impact of propagation environments on semantic transmission performance. To address this issue, we propose a generative channel knowledge base (CKB) with environmental information to facilitate joint source-channel coding (JSCC) in semantic communications (SemCom) systems. First, to enable the construction of the CKB, an environment-aware dataset is established by collecting spatial position information, global image features, fine-grained semantic features, and the corresponding channel matrices. A region-of-interest (ROI)-based filtering algorithm is further designed to remove semantic components that are irrelevant to signal propagation. Second, a Transformer-based generative framework is developed to learn the mapping between multidimensional environmental information and channel matrices. A self-attention mechanism is introduced to adaptively fuse heterogeneous features, enabling the construction of a structured CKB. Third, a CKB-driven JSCC SemCom architecture is proposed, where the generated channel knowledge is injected into both of the encoder and decoder to jointly exploit source semantics and channel-environment priors in an end-to-end manner. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed multidimensional feature fusion method achieves a channel matrix estimation error at the $10^{-3}$ level. Moreover, the CKB-driven JSCC SemCom framework integrated into SemCom systems significantly outperforms existing benchmark schemes in terms of transmission performance.

SemSteDiff: Generative Diffusion Model-based Coverless Semantic Steganography Communication

Semantic communication (SemCom), as a novel paradigm for future communication systems, has recently attracted much attention due to its superiority in communication efficiency. However, similar to traditional communication, it also suffers from eavesdropping threats. Intelligent eavesdroppers could launch advanced semantic analysis techniques to infer secret semantic information. Therefore, some researchers have designed Semantic Steganography Communication (SemSteCom) schemes to confuse semantic eavesdroppers. However, the state-of-the-art SemSteCom schemes for image transmission rely on the pre-selected cover image, which limits the generalization. To address this issue, we propose a Generative Diffusion Model-based Coverless Semantic Steganography Communication (SemSteDiff) scheme to hide secret images into generated stego images. The semantic related private and public keys enable legitimate receiver to decode secret images correctly while the eavesdropper without the completely correct key-pairs fail to obtain them. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the plug-and-play design in different Joint Source-Channel Coding (JSCC) frameworks. Results under different eavesdropping settings show that, when Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) = 0 dB, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of the legitimate receiver is 4.14 dB higher than that of the eavesdropper.

Towards Semantic-based Agent Communication Networks: Vision, Technologies, and Challenges

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) identifies "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Communication" as one of six key usage scenarios for 6G. Agentic AI, characterized by its ca-pabilities in multi-modal environmental sensing, complex task coordination, and continuous self-optimization, is anticipated to drive the evolution toward agent-based communication net-works. Semantic communication (SemCom), in turn, has emerged as a transformative paradigm that offers task-oriented efficiency, enhanced reliability in complex environments, and dynamic adaptation in resource allocation. However, comprehensive reviews that trace their technologi-cal evolution in the contexts of agent communications remain scarce. Addressing this gap, this paper systematically explores the role of semantics in agent communication networks. We first propose a novel architecture for semantic-based agent communication networks, structured into three layers, four entities, and four stages. Three wireless agent network layers define the logical structure and organization of entity interactions: the intention extraction and understanding layer, the semantic encoding and processing layer, and the distributed autonomy and collabora-tion layer. Across these layers, four AI agent entities, namely embodied agents, communication agents, network agents, and application agents, coexist and perform distinct tasks. Furthermore, four operational stages of semantic-enhanced agentic AI systems, namely perception, memory, reasoning, and action, form a cognitive cycle guiding agent behavior. Based on the proposed architecture, we provide a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art on how semantics en-hance agent communication networks. Finally, we identify key challenges and present potential solutions to offer directional guidance for future research in this emerging field.

APEG: Adaptive Physical Layer Authentication with Channel Extrapolation and Generative AI

With the rapid advancement of 6G, identity authentication has become increasingly critical for ensuring wireless security. The lightweight and keyless Physical Layer Authentication (PLA) is regarded as an instrumental security measure in addition to traditional cryptography-based authentication methods. However, existing PLA schemes often struggle to adapt to dynamic radio environments. To overcome this limitation, we propose the Adaptive PLA with Channel Extrapolation and Generative AI (APEG), designed to enhance authentication robustness in dynamic scenarios. Leveraging Generative AI (GAI), the framework adaptively generates Channel State Information (CSI) fingerprints, thereby improving the precision of identity verification. To refine CSI fingerprint generation, we propose the Collaborator-Cleaned Masked Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (CCMDM), which incorporates collaborator-provided fingerprints as conditional inputs for channel extrapolation. Additionally, we develop the Cross-Attention Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (CADM), employing a cross-attention mechanism to align multi-scale channel fingerprint features, further enhancing generation accuracy. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the APEG framework over existing time-sequence-based PLA schemes in authentication performance. Notably, CCMDM exhibits a significant advantage in convergence speed, while CADM, compared with model-free, time-series, and VAE-based methods, achieves superior accuracy in CSI fingerprint generation. StyleQoRA: Quality-Aware Low-Rank Adaptation for Few-Shot Multi-Style Editing

In recent years, image editing has garnered growing attention. However, general image editing models often fail to produce satisfactory results when confronted with new styles. The challenge lies in how to effectively fine-tune general image editing models to new styles using only a limited amount of paired data and a minimum number of parameters. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel few-shot multi-style editing framework. For this task, we construct a benchmark dataset that encompasses five distinct styles. Correspondingly, we propose Quality-Aware Low-Rank Adaptation for few-shot multi-style editing (StyleQoRA). Our StyleQoRA can automatically determine the optimal rank for each layer through a novel approach that estimates the importance score of each single-rank component using an image quality metric. To balance specialization and knowledge sharing, we design a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) LoRA with hybrid routing in our StyleQoRA, consisting of style-specific routing to prevent cross-style confusion and style-shared routing to capture common transformation patterns. Additionally, we explore the optimal location to insert LoRA within the Diffusion in Transformer (DiT) model and integrate adversarial learning and flow matching to guide the diffusion training process. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms existing state-of-the-art approaches with significantly fewer LoRA parameters. Our code and dataset are available at https://github.com/cao-cong/FSMSE.

Ferroaxial and nematic transitions in the charge density wave phase of 1T-TiSe$_2$

Charge density waves (CDWs) with multi-component order parameters can break unexpected symmetries through the interplay of nearly degenerate instabilities. In the widely investigated material 1T-TiSe$_2$, a central question is whether the observed CDW has a chiral character, which would manifest as the spontaneous breaking of mirror and inversion symmetries. Previous experiments have reported conflicting results about the broken symmetries in the CDW phase of 1T-TiSe$_2$. Here, we resolve this controversy by identifying the bulk broken symmetry as ferroaxial, corresponding to the breaking of vertical mirrors while preserving inversion symmetry. Using symmetry-resolved elastoresistivity, we detect the spontaneous emergence of intrinsic off-diagonal elastoresistivity coefficients that satisfy an antisymmetric relation ($m_{xx-yy,xy} \approx -m_{xy,xx-yy}$), providing an unambiguous bulk transport signature of a macroscopic electric toroidal moment. Simultaneous elastocaloric measurements reveal that the onset of ferroaxial order occurs just below the CDW transition. As the temperature is lowered further, a diverging nematic susceptibility signals a distinct rotational symmetry-breaking instability inside the ferroaxial CDW state. Our findings demonstrate that the proposed ``chiral'' CDW in 1T-TiSe$_2$ is actually a centrosymmetric ferroaxial state, reconciling previous surface-sensitive observations with bulk symmetry constraints.

Unlocking High-Fidelity Analog Joint Source-Channel Coding on Standard Digital Transceivers

Analog joint source-channel coding (JSCC) has demonstrated superior performance for semantic communications through graceful degradation across channel conditions. However, a fundamental hardware-software mismatch prevents deployment on modern digital physical layers (PHYs): analog JSCC generates continuous-valued symbols requiring infinite waveform diversity, while digital PHYs produce a finite set of discrete waveforms and employ non-differentiable operations that break end-to-end gradient flow. Existing solutions either fundamentally limit representation granularity or require impractical white-box PHY access. We introduce D2AJSCC, a novel framework enabling high-fidelity analog JSCC deployment on standard digital PHYs. Our approach exploits orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing's parallel subcarrier structure as a waveform synthesizer: computational PHY inversion determines input bitstreams that orchestrate subcarrier amplitudes and phases to emulate ideal analog waveforms. To enable end-to-end training despite non-differentiable PHY operations, we develop ProxyNet-a differentiable neural surrogate of the communication link that provides uninterrupted gradient flow while preventing JSCC degeneration. Simulation results for image transmission over WiFi PHY demonstrate that our system achieves near-ideal analog JSCC performance with graceful degradation across SNR conditions, while baselines exhibit cliff effects or catastrophic failures. By enabling next-generation semantic transmission on legacy infrastructure without hardware modification, our framework promotes sustainable network evolution and bridges the critical gap between analog JSCC's theoretical promise and practical deployment on ubiquitous digital hardware.

Interaction-driven flat band and charge order in Fe5GeTe2

Flat electronic bands enable fascinating emergent phenomena such as superconductivity and charge orders. A prevailing approach to realizing flat bands is to engineer lattice geometric constraints in twisted or kagome-like materials. An alternative approach is to utilize purely electronic-interaction-driven flat bands, yet a fundamental challenge is that extreme flatness requires ultrastrong interaction strength, which often leads to incoherent states. Here we demonstrate the concurrent formation of an interaction-driven flat band at the Fermi level and a $\sqrt{3}\times\sqrt{3}\,R30^\circ$ charge order in a van der Waals magnet Fe5GeTe2 using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. This charge order is manifested by band folding within 30 meV below the Fermi level, with its nesting driven by flat bands. The presence of this flat band throughout the Brillouin zone and the logarithmic temperature dependence of its spectral weight suggest a Kondo-like, coherent Fermi liquid emerging from strong correlations. Our work establishes a paradigm where an interaction-driven flat band promotes large-scale electronic ordering.

Generative Diffusion Models for Wireless Networks: Fundamental, Architecture, and State-of-the-Art

With the rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) technology, Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs) have shown significant empowerment potential in the field of wireless networks due to advantages, such as noise resistance, training stability, controllability, and multimodal generation. Although there have been multiple studies focusing on GDMs for wireless networks, there is still a lack of comprehensive reviews on their technological evolution. Motivated by this, we systematically explore the application of GDMs in wireless networks. Firstly, we identify the core challenges of wireless networks and argue why GDMs are uniquely suited to address them. We then introduce the mathematical principles of GDMs and representative models. Furthermore, we organize our comprehensive review through a structured taxonomy that categorizes GDM-based schemes into the sensing, transmission, and Applications, complemented by a security plane. For each representative scheme, we analyze its innovative points, the role of GDMs, strengths, and weaknesses. Ultimately, we extract key challenges and provide potential solutions, with the aim of providing directional guidance for future research in this field.

Moire Engineering of Cooper-Pair Density Modulation States

Cooper-pair density modulation (CPDM) states are superconducting phases in which the order parameter varies periodically in real space without breaking translational symmetry. Recently, moire superlattices in layered materials have emerged as powerful platforms for engineering charge density with tunable lattice symmetry, offering a new route to creating and controlling CPDM states. In this work, we demonstrate moire-induced CPDM states in a bilayer heterostructure formed by epitaxially stacking one quintuple layer (1 QL) of topological insulator Sb2Te3 on a six-unit-cell (6 UC) antiferromagnetic FeTe layer. Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/S) measurements reveal a moiré superlattice formed between the hexagonal Te lattice of Sb2Te3 and the square Te lattice of FeTe, which spatially modulates the two superconducting gaps of the 1 QL Sb2Te3/6 UC FeTe bilayer. Our Josephson STM/S measurements provide direct real-space imaging of the CPDM states with a wavelength corresponding to the periodicity of the moire superlattice. By substituting Sb2Te3 with Bi2Te3, we achieve control over both the periodicity and magnitude of the CPDM states. Our work demonstrates an epitaxial strategy for synthesizing moire superlattices from materials with different crystal symmetries and reveals a new mechanism for engineering CPDM states in designer bilayer heterostructures.

Generative AI for Physical-Layer Authentication

Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven Physical-Layer Authentication (PLA), which focuses on achieving endogenous security and intelligent identity authentication, has attracted considerable interest. When compared with Discriminative AI (DAI), Generative AI (GAI) offers several advantages, such as fingerprint augmentation, reconstruction, and denoising. Inspired by these innovations, this paper provides a systematic exploration of GAI's integration with PLA. We commence with a concise review of identity authentication techniques and GAI models. Furthermore, we propose a novel PLA framework based on GAI and channel extrapolation for dynamic environments. To demonstrate GAI's efficacy in enhancing PLA robustness, we implement a case study using the Generative Diffusion Model (GDM). Finally, we outline potential future research directions for GAI-based PLA.

Excitons in van der Waals magnetic materials

Two-dimensional magnetic semiconductors provide a unique materials platform in which long-range magnetic order coexists with strongly bound excitons. Because excitonic states and magnetic moments originate from the same electronic orbitals and are coupled through intrinsic exchange interactions, optical excitations in these systems exhibit pronounced sensitivity to magnetic order. Recent experiments have revealed unusually strong magneto-optical responses, as well as direct coupling between excitons and magnons, establishing new routes for controlling light-matter interactions with spin degrees of freedom. This Review surveys key developments in the field, focusing on representative material systems, experimental signatures of exciton-magnetism coupling, and the theoretical frameworks used to describe these phenomena. We conclude with perspectives on how this rapidly evolving field could enable next-generation optoelectronic and quantum technologies leveraging the coupled dynamics of light, charge, and spin.

VQ-DSC-R: Robust Vector Quantized-Enabled Digital Semantic Communication With OFDM Transmission

Digital mapping of semantic features is essential for achieving interoperability between semantic communication and practical digital infrastructure. However, current research efforts predominantly concentrate on analog semantic communication with simplified channel models. To bridge these gaps, we develop a robust vector quantized-enabled digital semantic communication (VQ-DSC-R) system built upon orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission. Our work encompasses the framework design of VQ-DSC-R, followed by a comprehensive optimization study. Firstly, we design a Swin Transformer-based backbone for hierarchical semantic feature extraction, integrated with VQ modules that map the features into a shared semantic quantized codebook (SQC) for efficient index transmission. Secondly, we propose a differentiable vector quantization with adaptive noise-variance (ANDVQ) scheme to mitigate quantization errors in SQC, which dynamically adjusts the quantization process using K-nearest neighbor statistics, while exponential moving average mechanism stabilizes SQC training. Thirdly, for robust index transmission over multipath fading channel and noise, we develop a conditional diffusion model (CDM) to refine channel state information, and design an attention-based module to dynamically adapt to channel noise. The entire VQ-DSC-R system is optimized via a three-stage training strategy. Extensive experiments demonstrate superiority of VQ-DSC-R over benchmark schemes, achieving high compression ratios and robust performance in practical scenarios.

Zero-Shot Knowledge Base Resizing for Rate-Adaptive Digital Semantic Communication

Digital semantic communication systems, which often leverage the Vector Quantized Variational Autoencoder (VQ-VAE) framework, are pivotal for future wireless networks. In a VQ-VAE-based semantic communication system, the transmission rate is directly governed by the size of a discrete codebook known as knowledge base (KB). However, the KB size is a fixed hyperparameter, meaning that adapting the rate requires training and storing a separate model for each desired size -- a practice that is too computationally and storage-prohibitive to achieve truly granular rate control. To address this, we introduce a principled, zero-shot KB resizing method that enables on-the-fly rate adaptation without any retraining. Our approach establishes a global importance ranking for all vectors within a single, large parent KB by uncovering its inherent semantic hierarchy. This is achieved via a three-step framework: 1) embedding KB vectors into hyperbolic space to reveal their hierarchical relationships; 2) constructing a master semantic tree using a minimum spanning tree algorithm; 3) enabling instant resizing by iteratively pruning the least important leaf nodes. Extensive simulations demonstrate that our method achieves reconstruction quality nearly identical to that of dedicated KBs trained from scratch, while demanding only a fraction of the computational budget. Moreover, our approach exhibits superior robustness at very low rates, where conventional KBs suffer from catastrophic failure. Our work resolves a fundamental limitation of VQ-VAE-based semantic communication systems, offering a practical and efficient path toward flexible and rate-adaptive semantic communication.

Image Steganography For Securing Intellicise Wireless Networks: "Invisible Encryption" Against Eavesdroppers

As one of the most promising technologies for intellicise (intelligent and consice) wireless networks, Semantic Communication (SemCom) significantly improves communication efficiency by extracting, transmitting, and recovering semantic information, while reducing transmission delay. However, an integration of communication and artificial intelligence (AI) also exposes SemCom to security and privacy threats posed by intelligent eavesdroppers. To address this challenge, image steganography in SemCom embeds secret semantic features within cover semantic features, allowing intelligent eavesdroppers to decode only the cover image. This technique offers a form of "invisible encryption" for SemCom. Motivated by these advancements, this paper conducts a comprehensive exploration of integrating image steganography into SemCom. Firstly, we review existing encryption techniques in SemCom and assess the potential of image steganography in enhancing its security. Secondly, we delve into various image steganographic paradigms designed to secure SemCom, encompassing three categories of joint source-channel coding (JSCC) models tailored for image steganography SemCom, along with multiple training strategies. Thirdly, we present a case study to illustrate the effectiveness of coverless steganography SemCom. Finally, we propose future research directions for image steganography SemCom.
