Beyond Spherical Wavefront: Near-Field Channel Estimation Under Wavefront Anisotropy

Extremely large aperture arrays (ELAAs) and millimeter-wave (mmWave) technologies are essential for achieving high data rates in future wireless communication systems. To perform precise beamforming, these systems require accurate channel estimation, in which the near-field wavefront curvature effect must be taken into account. Existing channel estimation methods rely on the spherical wavefront channel (SWC) model, which is suitable for near-field propagation with point sources, scatterers, and reflection planes. However, when a near-field curved reflecting surface exists, the wavefront of the reflected wave becomes anisotropic rather than spherical, causing the SWC model to become inaccurate. To address this problem, in this paper, we formulate a parameterized model for the anisotropic wavefront channel (AWC). Using this model, we propose a channel estimation algorithm based on physical parameter recovery for the AWC. Simulation results reveal that the AWC no longer retains sparsity in the angle-distance domain. Furthermore, the results demonstrate how different physical characteristics of the propagation scenario affect the degree of wavefront anisotropy, and confirm the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm in AWC scenarios.

CausalGaze: Unveiling Hallucinations via Counterfactual Graph Intervention in Large Language Models

Despite the groundbreaking advancements made by large language models (LLMs), hallucination remains a critical bottleneck for their deployment in high-stakes domains. Existing classification-based methods mainly rely on static and passive signals from internal states, which often captures the noise and spurious correlations, while overlooking the underlying causal mechanisms. To address this limitation, we shift the paradigm from passive observation to active intervention by introducing CausalGaze, a novel hallucination detection framework based on structural causal models (SCMs). CausalGaze models LLMs' internal states as dynamic causal graphs and employs counterfactual interventions to disentangle causal reasoning paths from incidental noise, thereby enhancing model interpretability. Extensive experiments across four datasets and three widely used LLMs demonstrate the effectiveness of CausalGaze, especially achieving 3.3% improvement in AUROC on the TruthfulQA dataset compared to state-of-the-art baselines.

Constructing Knowledge Map for MIMO-OFDM Clustered Channel Estimation

Channel knowledge map (CKM) exploits environ-ment information to assist channel estimation during communi-cation. For clustered channels, which represent a typical type ofwireless propagation environment, there has been no researchdevoted to designing an appropriate CKM to enhance theirestimation. To exploit environment information for clusteredchannel, improve channel estimation accuracy and reduce pilotoverhead, we propose ClusterCKM, a CKM providing the rangeof clustered multipath parameters for any pair of transmitter-receiver links in the region of interest. Firstly, we construct Clus-terCKM through estimating the spatial range of scatterer clustersfrom historical channel information. From these spatial range ofscatterer clusters, ClusterCKM infers the range of multipathparameters for the target link. Furthermore, a ClusterCKM-based channel estimation algorithm is developed to utilize theparameter range provided by ClusterCKM. Simulation resultsshow that, more accurate channel estimation can be achievedand pilot overhead can also be reduced by ClusterCKM and theClusterCKM-based estimation algorithm.

FilterLoss: A Transfer Learning Approach for Communication Scene Recognition

Communication scene recognition has been widely applied in practice, but using deep learning to address this problem faces challenges such as insufficient data and imbalanced data distribution. To address this, we designed a weighted loss function structure, named FilterLoss, which assigns different loss function weights to different sample points. This allows the deep learning model to focus primarily on high-value samples while appropriately accounting for noisy, boundary-level data points. Additionally, we developed a matching weight filtering algorithm that evaluates the quality of sample points in the input dataset and assigns different weight values to samples based on their quality. By applying this method, when using transfer learning on a highly imbalanced new dataset, the accuracy of the transferred model was restored to 92.34% of the original model's performance. Our experiments also revealed that using this loss function structure allowed the model to maintain good stability despite insufficient and imbalanced data.

Channel Correlation Matrix Extrapolation Based on Roughness Calibration of Scatterers

To estimate the channel correlation matrix (CCM) in areas where channel information cannot be collected in advance, this paper proposes a way to spatially extrapolate CCM based on the calibration of the surface roughness parameters of scatterers in the propagation scene. We calibrate the roughness parameters of scene scatters based on CCM data in some specific areas. From these calibrated roughness parameters, we are able to generate a good prediction of the CCM for any other area in the scene by performing ray tracing. Simulation results show that the channel extrapolation method proposed in this paper can effectively realize the extrapolation of the CCM between different areas in frequency domain, or even from one domain to another.

A Dynamic Resource Scheduling Algorithm Based on Traffic Prediction for Coexistence of eMBB and Random Arrival URLLC

In this paper, we propose a joint design for the coexistence of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable and random low-latency communication (URLLC) with different transmission time intervals (TTI): an eMBB scheduler operating at the beginning of each eMBB TTI to decide the coding redundancy of eMBB code blocks, and a URLLC scheduler at the beginning of each mini-slot to perform immediate preemption to ensure that the randomly arriving URLLC traffic is allocated with enough radio resource and the eMBB traffic keeps acceptable one-shot transmission successful probability and throughput. The framework for schedulers under hybrid-TTI is developed and a method to configure eMBB code block based on URLLC traffic arrival prediction is implemented. Simulations show that our work improves the throughput of eMBB traffic without sacrificing the reliablity while supporting randomly arriving URLLC traffic.

High-Efficiency Urban 3D Radio Map Estimation Based on Sparse Measurements

Recent widespread applications for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) -- from infrastructure inspection to urban logistics -- have prompted an urgent need for high-accuracy three-dimensional (3D) radio maps. However, existing methods designed for two-dimensional radio maps face challenges of high measurement costs and limited data availability when extended to 3D scenarios. To tackle these challenges, we first build a real-world large-scale 3D radio map dataset, covering over 4.2 million m^3 and over 4 thousand data points in complex urban environments. We propose a Gaussian Process Regression-based scheme for 3D radio map estimation, allowing us to realize more accurate map recovery with a lower RMSE than state-of-the-art schemes by over 2.5 dB. To further enhance data efficiency, we propose two methods for training point selection, including an offline clustering-based method and an online maximum a posterior (MAP)-based method. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed scheme not only achieves full-map recovery with only 2% of UAV measurements, but also sheds light on future studies on 3D radio maps.

Optimal Distributed Resource Allocation for Decode-and-Forward Relay Networks

This paper presents a distributed resource allocation algorithm to jointly optimize the power allocation, channel allocation and relay selection for decode-and-forward (DF) relay networks with a large number of sources, relays, and destinations. The well-known dual decomposition technique cannot directly be applied to resolve this problem, because the achievable data rate of DF relaying is not strictly concave, and thus the local resource allocation subproblem may have non-unique solutions. We resolve this non-strict concavity problem by using the idea of the proximal point method, which adds quadratic terms to make the objective function strictly concave. However, the proximal solution adds an extra layer of iterations over typical duality based approaches, which can significantly slow down the speed of convergence. To address this key weakness, we devise a fast algorithm without the need for this additional layer of iterations, which converges to the optimal solution. Our algorithm only needs local information exchange, and can easily adapt to variations of network size and topology. We prove that our distributed resource allocation algorithm converges to the optimal solution. A channel resource adjustment method is further developed to provide more channel resources to the bottleneck links and realize traffic load balance. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the benefits of our algorithm.

Optimal Real-time Spectrum Sharing between Cooperative Relay and Ad-hoc Networks

Optimization based spectrum sharing strategies have been widely studied. However, these strategies usually require a great amount of real-time computation and significant signaling delay, and thus are hard to be fulfilled in practical scenarios. This paper investigates optimal real-time spectrum sharing between a cooperative relay network (CRN) and a nearby ad-hoc network. Specifically, we optimize the spectrum access and resource allocation strategies of the CRN so that the average traffic collision time between the two networks can be minimized while maintaining a required throughput for the CRN. The development is first for a frame-level setting, and then is extended to an ergodic setting. For the latter setting, we propose an appealing optimal real-time spectrum sharing strategy via Lagrangian dual optimization. The proposed method only involves a small amount of real-time computation and negligible control delay, and thus is suitable for practical implementations. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed strategies.

Spectrum Sharing between Cooperative Relay and Ad-hoc Networks: Dynamic Transmissions under Computation and Signaling Limitations

This paper studies a spectrum sharing scenario between a cooperative relay network (CRN) and a nearby ad-hoc network. In particular, we consider a dynamic spectrum access and resource allocation problem of the CRN. Based on sensing and predicting the ad-hoc transmission behaviors, the ergodic traffic collision time between the CRN and ad-hoc network is minimized subject to an ergodic uplink throughput requirement for the CRN. We focus on real-time implementation of spectrum sharing policy under practical computation and signaling limitations. In our spectrum sharing policy, most computation tasks are accomplished off-line. Hence, little real-time calculation is required which fits the requirement of practical applications. Moreover, the signaling procedure and computation process are designed carefully to reduce the time delay between spectrum sensing and data transmission, which is crucial for enhancing the accuracy of traffic prediction and improving the performance of interference mitigation. The benefits of spectrum sensing and cooperative relay techniques are demonstrated by our numerical experiments.
