Soliton-potential interactions for nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^3$

In this work we mainly consider the dynamics and scattering of a narrow soliton of NLS equation with a potential in $\mathbb{R}^3$, where the asymptotic state of the system can be far from the initial state in parameter space. Specifically, if we let a narrow soliton state with initial velocity $\upsilon_{0}$ to interact with an extra potential $V(x)$, then the velocity $\upsilon_{+}$ of outgoing solitary wave in infinite time will in general be very different from $\upsilon_{0}$. In contrast to our present work, previous works proved that the soliton is asymptotically stable under the assumption that $\upsilon_{+}$ stays close to $\upsilon_{0}$ in a certain manner.

The existence of positive least energy solutions for a class of Schrodinger-Poisson systems involving critical nonlocal term with general nonlinearity

The present study is concerned with the following Schrödinger-Poisson system involving critical nonlocal term with general nonlinearity: $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δu+V(x)u- ϕ|u|^3u= f(u), & x\in\mathbb{R}^3, -Δϕ= |u|^5, & x\in\mathbb{R}^3,\\ \end{array} \right. $$ Under certain assumptions on non-constant $V(x)$, the existence of a positive least energy solution is obtained by using some new analytical skills and Pohožaev type manifold. In particular, the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition or monotonicity assumption on the nonlinearity is not necessary.

Multiple positive solutions for Schrodinger-Poisson systems involving critical nonlocal term

The present study is concerned with the following Schrödinger-Poisson system involving critical nonlocal term $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δu+u-K(x)ϕ|u|^3u=λf(x)|u|^{q-2}u, & x\in\mathbb{R}^3, -Δϕ=K(x)|u|^5, & x\in\mathbb{R}^3,\\ \end{array} \right. $$ where $1 0$ is a parameter. Under suitable assumptions on $K(x)$ and $f(x)$, there exists $λ_0=λ_0(q,S,f,K)>0$ such that for any $λ\in(0,λ_0)$, the above Schrödinger-Poisson system possesses at least two positive solutions by standard variational method, where a positive least energy solution will also be obtained.

Multiple positive solutions for a class of Kirchhoff type problems involving general critical growth

In this paper, we study the following nonlinear Kirchhoff problem involving critical growth: $$ \left\{% \begin{array}{ll} -(a+b\int_Ω|\nabla u|^2dx)Δu=|u|^4u+λ|u|^{q-2}u, u=0\ \ \text{on}\ \ \partialΩ, \end{array}% \right. $$ where $1 0$ are parameters and $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\R^3$. We prove that there exists $λ_1=λ_1(q,Ω)>0$ such that for any $λ\in(0,λ_1)$ and $a,\ b>0$, the above Kirchhoff problem possesses at least two positive solutions and one of them is a positive ground state solution. We also establish the convergence property of the ground state solution as the parameter $b\searrow 0$. More generally, we obtain the same results about the following Kirchhoff problem: $$ \left\{% \begin{array}{ll} -(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}|\nabla u|^2dx)Δu+u=Q(x)|u|^4u+λf(x)|u|^{q-2}u, u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^3), \end{array}% \right. $$ for any $a,\ b>0$ and $λ\in \big(0,λ_0(q,Q,f)\big)$ under certain conditions of $f(x)$ and $Q(x)$. Finally, we investigate the depending relationship between $λ_0$ and $b$ to show that for any (large) $λ>0$, there exists a $b_0(λ)>0$ such that the above results hold when $b>b_0(λ)$ and $a>0$.

Riesz transforms associated with higher-order Schrödinger type operators

In this paper, let $L=L_{0}+V$ be a Schrödinger type operator where $L_{0}$ is higher order elliptic operator with complex coefficients in divergence form and $V$ is signed measurable function, under the strongly subcritical assumption on $V$, the authors study the $L^{q}$ boundedness of Riesz transforms $\nabla^{m}L^{-1/2}$ for $q\leq 2$ and obtain a sharp result. Furthermore, the authors impose extra regularity assumptions on $V$ to obtain the $L^{q}$ boundedness of Riesz transforms $\nabla^{m}L^{-1/2}$ for $q>2$. As an application, the main results can be applied to the operator $L=(-Δ)^{m}-γ|x|^{-2m}$ for suitable $γ$

Spectral multipliers, Bochner-Riesz means and uniform Sobolev inequalities for elliptic operators

This paper comprises two parts. In the first, we study $L^p$ to $L^q$ bounds for spectral multipliers and Bochner-Riesz means with negative index in the general setting of abstract self-adjoint operators. In the second we obtain the uniform Sobolev estimates for constant coefficients higher order elliptic operators $P(D)-z$ and all $z\in {\mathbb C}\backslash [0, \infty)$, which give an extension of the second order results of Kenig-Ruiz-Sogge \cite{KRS}. Next we use perturbation techniques to prove the uniform Sobolev estimates for Schrödinger operators $P(D)+V$ with small integrable potentials $V$. Finally we deduce spectral multiplier estimates for all these operators, including sharp Bochner-Riesz summability results.

On $L^p$-resolvent estimates and the density of eigenvalues for compact Riemannian manifolds

We address an interesting question raised by Dos Santos Ferreira, Kenig and Salo about regions ${\mathcal R}_g\subset {\mathbb C}$ for which there can be uniform $L^{\frac{2n}{n+2}}\to L^{\frac{2n}{n-2}}$ resolvent estimates for $Δ_g+ζ$, $ζ\in {\mathcal R}_g$, where $Δ_g$ is the Laplace-Beltrami operator with metric $g$ on a given compact boundaryless Riemannian manifold of dimension $n\ge3$. This is related to earlier work of Kenig, Ruiz and the third author for the Euclidean Laplacian, in which case the region is the entire complex plane minus any disc centered at the origin. Presently, we show that for the round metric on the sphere, $S^n$, the resolvent estimates in Ferreira et al, involving a much smaller region, are essentially optimal. We do this by establishing sharp bounds based on the distance from $ζ$ to the spectrum of $Δ_{S^n}$. In the other direction, we also show that the bounds in \cite{Kenig} can be sharpened logarithmically for manifolds with nonpositive curvature, and by powers in the case of the torus, ${\mathbb T}^n={\mathbb R}^n/{\mathbb Z}^n$, with the flat metric. The latter improves earlier bounds of Shen. Further improvements for the torus are obtained using recent techniques of the first author and his work with Guth based on the multilinear estimates of Bennett, Carbery and Tao. Our approach also allows us to give a natural necessary condition for favorable resolvent estimates that is based on a measurement of the density of the spectrum of $\sqrt{-Δ_g}$, and, moreover, a necessary and sufficient condition based on natural improved spectral projection estimates for shrinking intervals.

Uniform Sobolev Resolvent Estimates for the Laplace-Beltrami Operator on Compact Manifolds

In this paper we continue the study on the resolvent estimates of the Laplace-Beltrami operator $Δ_g$ on a compact manifolds $M$ with dimension $n\geq3$. On the Sobolev line $1/p-1/q=2/n$ we can prove that the resolvent $(Δ_g+ζ)^{-1}$ is uniformly bounded from $L^p$ to $L^q$ when $(p,q)$ are within the admissible range $p\leq2(n+1)/(n+3)$ and $q\geq2(n+1)/(n-1)$ and $ζ$ is outside a parabola opening to the right and a small disk centered at the origin. This naturally generalizes the previous results in \cite{Kenig} and \cite{bssy} which addressed only the special case when $p=2n/(n+2), q=2n/(n-2)$. Using the shrinking spectral estimates between $L^p$ and $L^q$ we also show that when $(p,q)$ are within the interior of the admissible range, one can obtain a logarithmic improvement over the parabolic region for resolvent estimates on manifolds equipped with Riemannian metric of non-positive sectional curvature, and a power improvement depending on the exponent $(p,q)$ for flat torus. The latter therefore partially improves Shen's work in \cite{Shen} on the $L^p\to L^2$ uniform resolvent estimates on the torus. Similar to the case as proved in \cite{bssy} when $(p,q)=(2n/(n+2),2n/(n-2))$, the parabolic region is also optimal over the round sphere $S^n$ when $(p,q)$ are now in the admissible range. However, we may ask if the admissible range is sharp in the sense that it is the only possible range on the Sobolev line for which a compact manifold can have uniform resolvent estimate for $ζ$ being ouside a parabola.

Well-posedness and ill-posedness of the 3D generalized Navier-Stokes equations in Triebel-Lizorkin spaces

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem of the 3-dimensional (3D) generalized incompressible Navier-Stokes equations (gNS) in Triebel-Lizorkin space $\dot{F}^{-α,r}_{q_α}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ with $(α,r)\in(1,5/4)\times[2,\infty]$ and $q_α=\frac{3}{α-1}$. Our work establishes a {\it dichotomy} of well-posedness and ill-posedness depending on $r=2$ or $r>2$. Specifically, by combining the new endpoint bilinear estimates in $L^{q_α}_x L^2_T$ with the characterization of Triebel-Lizorkin space via fractional semigroup, we prove the well-posedness of the gNS in $\dot{F}^{-α,r}_{q_α}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ for $r=2$. On the other hand, for any $r>2$, we show that the solution to the gNS can develop {\it norm inflation} in the sense that arbitrarily small initial data in the spaces $\dot{F}^{-α,r}_{q_α}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ can lead the corresponding solution to become arbitrarily large after an arbitrarily short time. In particular, such dichotomy of Triebel-Lizorkin spaces is also true for the classical N-S equations, i.e.\,\,$α=1$. Thus the Triebel-Lizorkin space framework naturally provides better connection between the well-known Koch-Tataru's $BMO^{-1}$ well-posed work and Bourgain-Pavlović's $\dot{B}_\infty^{-1,\infty}$ ill-posed work.

Sharp spectral multipliers for operators satisfying generalized Gaussian estimates

Let $L$ be a non-negative self adjoint operator acting on $L^2(X)$ where $X$ is a space of homogeneous type. Assume that $L$ generates a holomorphic semigroup $e^{-tL}$ whose kernels $p_t(x,y)$ satisfy generalized $m$-th order Gaussian estimates. In this article, we study singular and dyadically supported spectral multipliers for abstract self-adjoint operators. We show that in this setting sharp spectral multiplier results follow from Plancherel or Stein-Tomas type estimates. These results are applicable to spectral multipliers for large classes of operators including $m$-th order elliptic differential operators with constant coefficients, biharmonic operators with rough potentials and Laplace type operators acting on fractals.

Global estimates of fundamental solutions for higher-order Schrödinger equations

In this paper we first establish global pointwise time-space estimates of the fundamental solution for Schrödinger equations, where the symbol of the spatial operator is a real non-degenerate elliptic polynomial. Then we use such estimates to establish related Lp-Lq estimates on the Schrödinger solution. These estimates extend known results from the literature and are sharp. This result was latetly already generalized to a degenerate case (cf. [9]).

Estimates for a class of oscillatory integrals and decay rates for wave-type equations

This paper investigates higher order wave-type equations of the form $\partial_{tt}u+P(D_{x})u=0$, where the symbol $P(ξ)$ is a real, non-degenerate elliptic polynomial of the order $m\ge4$ on ${\bf R}^n$. Using methods from harmonic analysis, we first establish global pointwise time-space estimates for a class of oscillatory integrals that appear as the fundamental solutions to the Cauchy problem of such wave equations. These estimates are then used to establish (pointwise-in-time) $L^p-L^q$ estimates on the wave solution in terms of the initial conditions.

Convex Hypersurfaces and $L^p$ Estimates for Schrödinger Equations

This paper is concerned with Schrödinger equations whose principal operators are homogeneous elliptic. When the corresponding level hypersurface is convex, we show the $L^p$-$L^q$ estimate of solution operator in free case. This estimate, combining with the results of fractionally integrated groups, allows us to further obtain the $L^p$ estimate of solutions for the initial data belonging to a dense subset of $L^p$ in the case of integrable potentials.
