Gate- and Optically Controlled Nonlinear Optical Response in Graphene via Non-Perturbative Ultrafast Carrier Dynamics

While the Dirac band structure of graphene has established it as a leading platform for ultrafast optoelectronics, its non-perturbative nonlinear response under intense excitation remains poorly understood. Here, we report ultrafast spectral modulation of nonlinear optical signals in graphene. By utilizing a robust suspended-graphene platform that allows for both wide-range electrostatic gating and high optical damage thresholds, we observe dramatic frequency shifts (up to 8 THz) in third-harmonic generation (THG) and sum-frequency generation (SFG) driven by pump-induced nonequilibrium carrier dynamics. The magnitude and even the direction of this spectral shift can be reversibly controlled by the Fermi level and excitation conditions. A quasiequilibrium theoretical framework based on hot-carrier dynamics quantitatively reproduces the measured spectral evolution, elucidating the critical interplay between carrier heating and the Fermi level. These findings establish a universal mechanism for carrier-mediated spectral control, providing a practical route toward high-speed, gatetunable nonlinear photonic architectures.

Steady and dynamic magnetic phase transitions in interacting quantum dots arrays coupled with leads

We apply the Hubbard model, non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) theory, exact diagonalization (ED) and the hierarchical equations of motion (HEOM) method to investigate abundant magnetic phase transitions in the 1D interacting quantum dots arrays (QDA) sandwiched by non-interaction leads. The spin polarization phase transitions are firstly studied with a mean-field approximation. The many-body calculation of the ED method is then used to verify such transitions. We find with the weak device-leading couplings, the anti-ferromagnetic (AF) state only exists in the uniform odd-numbered QDA or the staggered-hopping QDA systems. With increasing the coupling strength or the bias potentials, there exists the magnetism-to non-magnetism phase transition. With the spin-resolved HEOM method we also investigate the detailed dynamic phase transition process of these lead-QDA-lead systems.

Suppression of residual amplitude modulation effect in the Pound-Drever-Hall locking

Residual amplitude modulation (RAM) effect in a Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) technique locked cavity system is analysed in this paper. Frequency shift caused by RAM in PDH is found to be both related to the amplitude of the RAM and to the cavity's mode matching and impedance matching. The cavity reflection contrast depends on the mode matching of the incident laser light and impedance matching of the cavity. The suppression of the amplitude of the RAM has been investigated by many groups, while the effect of the cavity response has not received full attention. According to our analysis, RAM effect can be fully suppressed by proper impedance matching and magic mode coupling. We have measured the RAM to frequency conversion coefficients at different coupling efficiencies. The result agrees well with the calculation, demonstrating the potential of full suppression of the RAM effect through proper design of cavities.
