iQuantum groups and iHopf algebras I: foundation

We introduce the notion of iHopf algebra, a new associative algebra structure defined on a Hopf algebra equipped with a Hopf pairing. The iHopf algebra on a Borel quantum group endowed with a $τ$-twisted Hopf pairing is shown to be a quasi-split universal iquantum group. In particular, the Drinfeld double quantum group is realized as the iHopf algebra on the double Borel. This iHopf approach allows us to develop connections between Lusztig's braid group action and ibraid group action. It will further lead to the construction of dual canonical basis in a sequel.

Quiver varieties and dual canonical bases

We survey some recent developments on the theory of dual canonical bases for quantum groups and $\imath$quantum groups. The $\imath$quiver algebras were introduced by Wang and the first author, which are used to give two realizations of quasi-split $\imath$quantum groups of type ADE: one via the $\imath$Hall algebras and the other via the quantum Grothendieck rings of Nakajima-Keller-Scherotzke quiver varieties. The geometric construction of the $\imath$quantum groups produces their dual canonical bases with positivity, generalizing Qin's geometric realization of quantum groups of type ADE. Recently, the authors provided a new construction of the dual canonical basis in the setting of $\imath$Hall algebras, and proved that it is invariant under braid group actions, and obtained the positivity of the transition matrix coefficients from the Hall basis to the dual canonical basis. As quantum groups can be regarded as $\imath$quantum groups of diagonal type, we demonstrate that the dual canonical bases of quantum groups coincide with the double canonical bases defined by Berenstein and Greenstein, and resolve several conjectures therein.

Dual and double canonical bases of quantum groups

Qin established the geometric realization of entire quantum groups via perverse sheaves, which further give rise to dual canonical bases with integral and positive structure constants for quantum groups of type ADE. In this paper, we prove that the dual canonical bases of (Drinfeld double) quantum groups coincide with Berenstein--Greenstein's double canonical bases, by reinterpreting their intricate algebraic construction via the geometry of NKS quiver varieties. This result settles several conjectures therein, including those on positivity and invariance under braid group actions.

Dual canonical bases of quantum groups and $\imath$quantum groups I: Hall algebras

The $\imath$quantum groups have two realizations: one via the $\imath$Hall algebras and the other via the quantum Grothendieck rings of quiver varieties, as developed by the first author and Wang. The isoclasses of perverse sheaves provide the dual canonical bases for $\imath$quantum groups of type ADE with integral and positive structure constants. In this paper, we present a new construction of the dual canonical bases in the setting of $\imath$Hall algebras. We also introduce Fourier transforms for $\imath$Hall algebras, and prove the invariance of the dual canonical bases under braid group actions and Fourier transforms. Since quantum groups are $\imath$quantum groups of diagonal type, all results also apply to this classical case.

Dual canonical bases of quantum groups and $\imath$quantum groups II: geometry

The $\imath$quantum groups admit two realizations: one via the $\imath$Hall algebras and the other via the quantum Grothendieck rings of quiver varieties, as developed by the first author and Wang. Based on these two realizations, we establish the dual canonical bases for $\imath$quantum groups of type ADE in two distinct ways, using perverse sheaves and Hall algebras respectively. In this paper, we prove that these two dual canonical bases coincide, thereby proving their invariance under braid group actions, and that their structural constants are integral and positive. Furthermore, we establish the positivity of the coefficients of the transition matrix from the Hall basis (and PBW basis) to the dual canonical basis.

iQuantum groups and iHopf algebras II: dual canonical bases

Building on the iHopf algebra realization of quasi-split universal iquantum groups developed in a prequel, we construct the dual canonical basis for a universal iquantum group of arbitrary finite type, which are further shown to be preserved by the ibraid group action; this recovers the results of Lu-Pan in ADE type obtained earlier in a geometric approach. Moreover, we identify the dual canonical basis for the Drinfeld double quantum group of arbitrary finite type, which is realized via iHopf algebra on the double Borel, with Berenstein-Greenstein's double canonical basis, settling several of their conjectures.

Braid group action and quasi-split affine iquantum groups III

This is the last of three papers on Drinfeld presentations of quasi-split affine iquantum groups $\widetilde{\mathbf U}^\imath$, settling the remaining type ${\rm AIII}^{(τ)}_{2r}$. This type distinguishes itself among all quasi-split affine types in having 3 relative root lengths. Various basic real and imaginary $v$-root vectors for $\widetilde{\mathbf U}^\imath$ are constructed, giving rise to affine rank one subalgebras of $\widetilde{\mathbf U}^\imath$ associated with simple roots in the finite relative root system. We establish the relations among these $v$-root vectors and show that they provide a Drinfeld presentation of $\widetilde{\mathbf U}^\imath$.

Prediction of Stable Ground-State Binary Sodium-Potassium Interalkalis under High Pressures

The complex structures and electronic properties of alkali metals and their alloys provide a natural laboratory for studying the interelectronic interactions of metals under compression. A recent theoretical study (J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 2019, 10, 3006) predicted an interesting pressure-induced decomposition-recombination behavior of the Na2K compound over a pressure range of 10 - 500 GPa. However, a subsequent experiment (Phys. Rev. B 2020, 101, 224108) reported the formation of NaK rather than Na2K at pressures above 5.9 GPa. To address this discordance, we study the chemical stability of different stoichiometries of NaxK (x = 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/3, 3/2 and 1 - 4) by effective structure searching method combined with first-principles calculations. Na2K is calculated to be unstable at 5 - 35 GPa due to the decomposition reaction Na2K-> NaK + Na, coinciding well with the experiment. NaK undergoes a combination-decomposition-recombination process accompanied by an opposite charge-transfer behavior between Na and K with pressure. Besides NaK, two hitherto unknown compounds NaK3 and Na3K2 are uncovered. NaK3 is a typical metallic alloy, while Na3K2 is an electride with strong interstitial electron localization.
