Frobenius manifolds and quantum groups

We introduce isomonodromy Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) connections with respect to the quantum Stokes matrices, and prove that the classical limit of the KZ type connections gives rise to the Dubrovin connections of semisimple Frobenius manifolds and flat F-manifolds.

Stokes phenomenon and Yang-Baxter equations

We describe the monodromy of dynamical Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations via Stokes phenomenon. It defines a family of braid groups representations by certain Stokes matrices. In particular, these Stokes matrices satisfy the Yang-Baxter equation.

Generalized classical dynamical Yang-Baxter equations and moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces

In this paper, we explain how generalized dynamical r-matrices can be obtained by (quasi-)Poisson reduction. New examples of Poisson structures and Poisson groupoid actions naturally appear in this setting. As an application, we use a generalized dynamical r-matrix induced by the gauge fixing procedure to give a new finite dimensional description of the Atiyah-Bott symplectic structure on the moduli space of flat connections on a surface.

Irregular Riemann-Hilbert correspondence, Alekseev-Meinrenken dynamical r-matrices and Drinfeld twists

In 2004, Enriquez-Etingof-Marshall suggested a new approach to the Ginzburg-Weinstein linearization theorem for a quasitriangular Lie bialgebra $(\g,r)$. This approach is based on solving a system of PDEs for a gauge transformation between the classical r-matrix $r$ and the Alekseev-Meinrenken dynamical r-matrix. They proved that the semiclassical limit of an admissible Drinfeld twist gives rise to a solution of the PDEs. In this paper, we explain that preferred gauge transformations can be constructed as connection maps for a certain irregular Riemann-Hilbert problem (provided $r$ is the standard classical r-matrix). Along the way, we give a symplectic geometric interpretation of their PDEs, as a symplectic neighborhood version of the Ginzburg-Weinstein linearization theorem. Our construction is based on earlier works by Boalch. We then prove that for semisimple Lie algebra $\g$, any solution of the PDEs for the gauge transformation is the semiclassical limit of an admissible Drinfeld twist. As byproducts, we find a surprising relation between the connection maps and Drinfeld twists as well as a new description of the Lu-Weinstein symplectic double.

String principal bundles and Courant algebroids

Just like Atiyah Lie algebroids encode the infinitesimal symmetries of principal bundles, exact Courant algebroids are believed to encode the infinitesimal symmetries of $S^1$-gerbes. At the same time, transitive Courant algebroids may be viewed as the higher analogue of Atiyah Lie algebroids, and the non-commutative analogue of exact Courant algebroids. In this article, we explore what the "principal bundle" behind transitive Courant algebroids are, and they turn out to be principal 2-bundles of string groups. First, we construct the stack of principal 2-bundles of string groups with connection data. We prove a lifting theorem for the stack of string principal bundles with connections and show the multiplicity of the lifts once they exist. This is a differential geometrical refinement of what is known for string structures by Redden, Waldorf and Stolz-Teichner. We also extend the result of Bressler and Chen-Stiénon-Xu on extension obstruction involving transitive Courant algebroids to the case of transitive Courant algebroids with connections, as a lifting theorem with the description of multiplicity once liftings exist. At the end, we build a morphism between these two stacks. The morphism turns out to be neither injective nor surjective in general, which shows that the process of associating the "higher Atiyah algebroid" loses some information and at the same time, only some special transitive Courant algebroids come from string bundles.

Chern-Simons, Wess-Zumino and other cocycles from Kashiwara-Vergne and associators

Descent equations play an important role in the theory of characteristic classes and find applications in theoretical physics, e.g. in the Chern-Simons field theory and in the theory of anomalies. The second Chern class (the first Pontrjagin class) is defined as $p= \langle F, F\rangle$ where $F$ is the curvature 2-form and $\langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle$ is an invariant scalar product on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. The descent for $p$ gives rise to an element $ω=ω_3 + ω_2 + ω_1 + ω_0$ of mixed degree. The 3-form part $ω_3$ is the Chern-Simons form. The 2-form part $ω_2$ is known as the Wess-Zumino action in physics. The 1-form component $ω_1$ is related to the canonical central extension of the loop group $LG$. In this paper, we give a new interpretation of the low degree components $ω_1$ and $ω_0$. Our main tool is the universal differential calculus on free Lie algebras due to Kontsevich. We establish a correspondence between solutions of the first Kashiwara-Vergne equation in Lie theory and universal solutions of the descent equation for the second Chern class $p$. In more detail, we define a 1-cocycle $C$ which maps automorphisms of the free Lie algebra to one forms. A solution of the Kashiwara-Vergne equation $F$ is mapped to $ω_1=C(F)$. Furthermore, the component $ω_0$ is related to the associator corresponding to $F$. It is surprising that while $F$ and $Φ$ satisfy the highly non-linear twist and pentagon equations, the elements $ω_1$ and $ω_0$ solve the linear descent equation.

Stokes phenomenon, Gelfand-Zeitlin systems and relative Ginzburg-Weinstein linearization

In 2007, Alekseev-Meinrenken proved that there exists a Ginzburg-Weinstein diffeomorphism from the dual Lie algebra ${\rm u}(n)^*$ to the dual Poisson Lie group $U(n)^*$ compatible with the Gelfand-Zeitlin integrable systems. In this paper, we explicitly construct such diffeomorphisms via Stokes phenomenon and Boalch's dual exponential maps. Then we introduce a relative version of the Ginzburg-Weinstein linearization motivated by irregular Riemann-Hilbert correspondence, and generalize the results of Enriquez-Etingof-Marshall to this relative setting. In particular, we prove the connection matrix for a certain irregular Riemann-Hilbert problem satisfies a relative gauge transformation equation of the Alekseev-Meinrenken dynamical r-matrices. This gauge equation is then derived as the semiclassical limit of the relative Drinfeld twist equation.

Strong homotopy Lie algebras, homotopy Poisson manifolds and Courant algebroids

We study Maurer-Cartan elements on homotopy Poisson manifolds of degree $n$. They unify many twisted or homotopy structures in Poisson geometry and mathematical physics, such as twisted Poisson manifolds, quasi-Poisson $\g$-manifolds, and twisted Courant algebroids. Using the fact that the dual of an $n$-term $L_\infty$-algebra is a homotopy Poisson manifold of degree $n-1$, we obtain a Courant algebroid from a $2$-term $L_\infty$-algebra $\g$ via the degree $2$ symplectic NQ-manifold $T^*[2]\g^*[1]$. By integrating the Lie quasi-bialgebroid associated to the Courant algebroid, we obtain a Lie-quasi-Poisson groupoid from a $2$-term $L_\infty$-algebra, which is proposed to be the geometric structure on the dual of a Lie $2$-algebra. These results lead to a construction of a new 2-term $L_\infty$-algebra from a given one, which could produce many interesting examples.

The Pontryagin Class for Pre-Courant Algebroids

In this paper, we show that the Jacobiator $J$ of a pre-Courant algebroid is closed naturally. The corresponding equivalence class $[J^\flat]$ is defined as the Pontryagin class, which is the obstruction of a pre-Courant algebroid to be deformed into a Courant algebroid. We construct a Leibniz 2-algebra and a Lie 2-algebra associated to a pre-Courant algebroid and prove that these algebraic structures are isomorphic under deformations. Finally, we introduce the twisted action of a Lie algebra on a manifold to give more examples of pre-Courant algebroids, which include the Cartan geometry.

Canonical Functions and Differential Graded Symplectic Pairs in Supergeometry and AKSZ Sigma Models with Boundary

Consistent boundary conditions for Alexandrov-Kontsevich-Schwartz-Zaboronsky (AKSZ) sigma models and the corresponding boundary theories are analyzed. As their mathematical structures, we introduce a generalization of differential graded symplectic manifolds, called twisted QP manifolds, in terms of graded symplectic geometry, canonical functions, and QP pairs. We generalize the AKSZ construction of topological sigma models to sigma models with Wess-Zumino terms and show that all the twisted Poisson-like structures known in the literature can actually be naturally realized as boundary conditions for AKSZ sigma models.

Dirac and Generalized Complex Structures on Cartan Geometries

We introduce linear Dirac and generalized complex structures on Cartan geometries and give criteria for Dirac subalgebras of $\frkg\ltimes\frkg^*$ representing Dirac structures on a Cartan geometry. We prove that there is a bijection between the linear generalized structures on a torsion free Cartan geometry and the equivariant generalized structures on its corresponding homogeneous space.

Cohomology for almost Lie algebroids

We give numerous examples of almost Lie algebroids arising as Dirac structures in pre-Courant algebroids, e.g. from twisted Poisson structures, as well as from twisted actions of a Lie algebra. We moreover define a cohomology for them, motivated by a Q-structure, that is trivial for (bundles of) Lie algebras but characterizes the underlying integrable distribution the image of the anchor map.
