Subspace Aggregation Query and Index Generation for Multidimensional Resource Space Model

Organizing large-scale resources in a multidimensional semantic space is an approach to efficiently managing and querying resources from different semantic dimensions. To support advanced applications, this paper proposes a resource space model for aggregation query on subspaces defined by a range within the partial order on the coordinate trees representing each dimension, where each point in the subspace contains resources aggregated along the paths of the partial order relations on the coordinate trees and the aggregated resources at each point can be measured, ranked and selected by applications. To efficiently locate non-empty points in a large subspace, an approach to generating graph index is proposed to build partial order relations on coordinates of dimensions to enable a subspace query to reach non-empty points through indexing links and aggregate resources along indexing paths to their super points. Generating such an index is costly as the number of children of an indexing node can be large so that the total number of indexing nodes can be very large (exponentially growing with the number of dimensions and scale of dimensions). The proposed approach adopts the a set of strategies to reduce the cost. Analysis and experiments show the effectiveness of the generated index in supporting subspace aggregation query.

A Semantic Link Network Model for Supporting Traceability of Logistics on Blockchain

The ability of tracing states of logistic transportations requires an efficient storage and retrieval of the state of logistic transportations and locations of logistic objects. However, the restriction of sharing states and locations of logistic objects across organizations from different countries makes it hard to deploy a centralized database for implementing the traceability in a cross-border logistic system. This paper proposes a semantic data model on Blockchain to represent a logistic process based on the Semantic Link Network model where each semantic link represents a logistic transportation of a logistic object between two parties. A state representation model is designed to represent the states of a logistic transportation with semantic links. It enables the locations of logistic objects to be derived from the link states. A mapping from the semantic links to the blockchain transactions is designed to enable schema of semantic links and states of semantic links to be published in blockchain transactions. To improve the efficiency of tracing a path of semantic links on blockchain platform, an algorithm is designed to build shortcuts along the path of semantic links to enable a query on the path of a logistic object to reach the target in logarithmic steps on the blockchain platform. A reward-penalty policy is designed to allow participants to confirm the state of links on blockchain. Analysis and simulation demonstrate the flexibility, effectiveness and the efficiency of Semantic Link Network on immutable blockchain for implementing logistic traceability.

What Makes it Difficult to Understand a Scientific Literature?

In the artificial intelligence area, one of the ultimate goals is to make computers understand human language and offer assistance. In order to achieve this ideal, researchers of computer science have put forward a lot of models and algorithms attempting at enabling the machine to analyze and process human natural language on different levels of semantics. Although recent progress in this field offers much hope, we still have to ask whether current research can provide assistance that people really desire in reading and comprehension. To this end, we conducted a reading comprehension test on two scientific papers which are written in different styles. We use the semantic link models to analyze the understanding obstacles that people will face in the process of reading and figure out what makes it difficult for human to understand a scientific literature. Through such analysis, we summarized some characteristics and problems which are reflected by people with different levels of knowledge on the comprehension of difficult science and technology literature, which can be modeled in semantic link network. We believe that these characteristics and problems will help us re-examine the existing machine models and are helpful in the designing of new one.

Design and Implementation of Flight Visual Simulation System

The design requirement for flight visual simulation system is studied and the overall structure and development process are proposed in this paper. Through the construction of 3D scene model library and aircraft model, the rendering and interaction of visual scene are implemented. The changes of aircraft flight attitude in visual system are controlled by real-time calculation of aircraft aerodynamic and dynamic equations and flight simulation effect is enhanced by this kind of control. Several key techniques for optimizing 3D model and relative methods for large terrain modeling are explored for improving loading ability and rendering speed of the system. Experiment shows that, with specific function and performance guaranteed as a premise, the system achieves expected results, that is, precise real-time calculation of flight attitude and smooth realistic screen effect.
