Déjà Vu: Cycle-Consistent Re-ranking for Semantic Correspondence

We propose \emph{Déjà Vu}, a test-time decoding module for semantic correspondence. Matching semantically equivalent keypoints across images of the same object category is challenging due to variations in appearance, viewpoint, and scale. While features from large pretrained vision models carry strong zero-shot correspondence ability, existing methods reduce final matching to greedy top-$1$ nearest-neighbor selection. We show that the correct correspondence appears among the top-ranked candidates far more often than top-$1$ matching achieves: with $30$ candidates, zero-shot features exceed the top-$1$ accuracy of a supervised model. This reveals a \textit{decoding bottleneck} rather than a limit of the representation. Motivated by this observation, we formulate semantic correspondence as a \textit{recall-then-rerank} problem. Our method first nominates an adaptive candidate set, larger when the similarity distribution is ambiguous and smaller when it is confident, then re-ranks the candidates with a graded cycle-consistency score: each candidate is matched back to the source image and penalized by how far its reverse match lands from the original keypoint. The module operates entirely on the similarity matrix already computed by the base method. It consistently improves three representative baselines on SPair-71k, its geometric subset, and PF-Pascal under both unsupervised and weakly supervised settings, with gains of up to $+1.8$ PCK@0.10 on SPair-71k and $+3.4$ PCK@0.15 on PF-Pascal, and $+4.9$ under Keypoint Average Precision.

ScalLoc: Continuous Oblique Thermal UAV Geo-Localization with a 2D Satellite Map

Cross-modal Thermal Geo-localization (TG) provides an illumination-robust positioning solution for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied environments. However, existing thermal geo-localization methods mainly focus on near-nadir observations or depend on map-side elevation priors, limiting their applicability to continuous oblique thermal localization with only geo-referenced 2D satellite maps. To address this problem, we propose ScalLoc, a scale-aligned local-to-map localization framework for continuous oblique thermal UAV geo-localization. ScalLoc follows a reconstruction--refinement--anchoring--propagation design: it reconstructs local window geometry from thermal sequences, refines camera poses using track-based pose optimization, adaptively anchors each window to the satellite map, and propagates validated states to recover frame-level global trajectories. To support systematic evaluation, we construct Thermal-Oblique, a real thermal UAV sequence dataset containing 216 urban and rural day--night trajectories and 28,112 thermal frames with frame-level annotations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ScalLoc reduces the mean localization error from 112.69 m to 26.97 m compared with the VGGT-only configuration, corresponding to a 76.07% reduction, and achieves the lowest frame-weighted mean position error among the compared methods. These results demonstrate the feasibility of continuous oblique thermal geo-localization using only lightweight 2D satellite maps, without requiring digital surface models or preconstructed 3D maps. Code and dataset are available at https://github.com/FloralHercules/ScalLoc.

ODMA-based MIMO Massive Unsourced Random Access with Soft-Output Polar Codes

This paper investigates the design of the on-off division multiple access (ODMA) transmission scheme for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) massive unsourced random access (URA) systems with soft-output (SO) polar codes. First, a three-segment pilot-uncoupled coding scheme is introduced under the ODMA framework, which reduces the coding rate of the data segment without increasing the transmission overhead, improving the overall system performance. Building upon this architecture, a hierarchical pattern detection framework is developed. Specifically, a coarse-grained candidate set of transmission patterns is first identified through correlation operations. Based on this, a message-passing (MP)-based pattern detection algorithm is developed to iteratively estimate the posterior probabilities of transmission patterns, followed by the \textit{maximum a posteriori} (MAP) estimation to obtain the precise pattern detection result. Furthermore, a joint pattern detection and data decoding algorithm based on the bit-wise SO information of polar decoder is investigated, where the posterior probability information provided by the polar decoder is exploited to refine the pattern detection and contribute to an improved accuracy. In addition, by leveraging bit-wise SO information of the successive cancellation list polar decoder, an MP-based iterative decoding algorithm is developed to significantly enhance the decoding performance. The proposed scheme simultaneously exploits the transmission gain of uncoupled-ODMA framework, the coding gain of polar codes in the short-blocklength regime, and the iterative decoding gain enabled by SO information, while the computational complexity is significantly reduced through the hierarchical detection framework. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves strong robustness ...

Critical conditions of nonlinearities in the John problem

In this paper, we determine the sharp criteria for the nonlinearities in the John problem $\partial_{t}^2 u-Δ_{\R^3}u= F(u)$ so that the problem admits global solutions for small initial data with compact support. The criteria is of Dini type. For the situation in which the criteria is not satisfied, we show that the solution will blow up in finite time for some small initial data, together with an almost sharp estimates of the lifespan. For the proof, we mainly rely on the precise pointwise estimates of the solution, based on the fundamental solution, John's iteration argument as well as an adaption of the slicing method.

Improving Medical Image Generative Models with Fréchet Distance Loss

Diffusion generative models have demonstrated immense potential for synthetic medical image generation. However, these models often struggle to capture complex morphological characteristics of heterogeneous tumors with irregular boundaries, limiting their utility for downstream clinical tasks such as segmentation. This limitation stems from the standard denoising objective: minimizing a per-pixel error, which smooths high-variance irregular structures characteristic of tumors. To address this, we propose finetuning these generative models with Fréchet Distance loss (FD-loss). FD-loss aligns the first and second order feature statistics of real and generated images in a pretrained encoder space, encouraging the generator to capture complex structural variations characteristic of heterogeneous tumors. We integrate FD-loss across diverse architectural settings, using both natural- and medical-image encoders on multiple liver and brain cancer datasets spanning CT and MRI modalities. Downstream segmentation networks trained on our FD-regularized synthetic data consistently achieve superior performance, improving tumor DSC by $>$$5\%$ over unregularized synthetic augmentation alone. Qualitative analysis suggests these gains are associated with more faithful tumor synthesis and fewer segmentation hallucinations. Our results show FD-loss as an effective regularizer for medical image generative models to improve clinical workflows.

SCC-Loc: A Unified Semantic Cascade Consensus Framework for UAV Thermal Geo-Localization

Cross-modal Thermal Geo-localization (TG) provides a robust, all-weather solution for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied environments. However, profound thermal-visible modality gaps introduce severe feature ambiguity, systematically corrupting conventional coarse-to-fine registration. To dismantle this bottleneck, we propose SCC-Loc, a unified Semantic-Cascade-Consensus localization framework. By sharing a single DINOv2 backbone across global retrieval and MINIMA$_{\text{RoMa}}$ matching, it minimizes memory footprint and achieves zero-shot, highly accurate absolute position estimation. Specifically, we tackle modality ambiguity by introducing three cohesive components. First, we design the Semantic-Guided Viewport Alignment (SGVA) module to adaptively optimize satellite crop regions, effectively correcting initial spatial deviations. Second, we develop the Cascaded Spatial-Adaptive Texture-Structure Filtering (C-SATSF) mechanism to explicitly enforce geometric consistency, thereby eradicating dense cross-modal outliers. Finally, we propose the Consensus-Driven Reliability-Aware Position Selection (CD-RAPS) strategy to derive the optimal solution through a synergy of physically constrained pose optimization. To address data scarcity, we construct Thermal-UAV, a comprehensive dataset providing 11,890 diverse thermal queries referenced against a large-scale satellite ortho-photo and corresponding spatially aligned Digital Surface Model (DSM). Extensive experiments demonstrate that SCC-Loc establishes a new state-of-the-art, suppressing the mean localization error to 9.37 m and providing a 7.6-fold accuracy improvement within a strict 5-m threshold over the strongest baseline. Code and dataset are available at https://github.com/FloralHercules/SCC-Loc.

Superconductivity in the pressure-amorphized topological insulator CrP$_4$

The interplay among superconductivity, magnetism, and nontrivial band topology represents one of the most compelling frontiers in condensed matter physics. The exploration of novel superconductivity in 3d transition-metal compounds, particularly the rare Cr-based systems containing strongly magnetic Cr ions, has long attracted attention owing to their unconventional pairing mechanisms that challenge conventional wisdom. Yet, Cr-based superconductors remain scarce, especially those possessing nontrivial topological character, underscoring the urgent need to uncover new members. Here we report the observation of superconductivity in pressure-amorphized Cr-based topological insulator CrP$_4$. Upon compression, CrP$_4$ undergoes an anomalous quantum phase transition from a metallic to a semiconducting-like state at around 15 GPa, driven by significant changes in the electronic structure. At approximately 70 GPa, re-metallization with superconductivity occurs alongside an irreversible amorphization. The superconducting transition temperature Tc increases monotonically with pressure, reaching 4.8 K at 141.3 GPa. Furthermore, theoretical calculations predict multiple topological phase transitions from a strong topological insulator to a trivial state and finally back to a strong topological state under pressure. Our study not only establishes CrP$_4$ as the first Cr-based amorphous superconductor but also opens a new paradigm for exploring superconducting and topological properties in amorphous materials.

ScoutVLA: UAV-Centric Active Perception via a Dual-Expert VLA Model for Open-World Embodied Question Answering

Aerial Embodied Question Answering (EQA) requires Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to actively perceive the environment and answer natural language questions. Existing outdoor EQA systems usually stop once the target enters the UAV's field of view, leaving the fine-grained viewpoint adjustment needed for evidence-seeking questions largely unresolved. To address this issue, we introduce FG-EQA, a fine-grained active perception EQA benchmark with more than 40K simulated trajectories and 1K real-world trajectories. Drawing inspiration from the ``waggle dance'' of scout bees, which iteratively adjust their flight paths to verify target information, we propose ScoutVLA, an evidence-driven Vision-Language-Action model for outdoor EQA. To emulate this active exploration behavior, ScoutVLA features a decoupled dual-expert architecture: a vision-language expert infers the semantic intent to identify missing evidence, while an independent action expert employs high-DoF flow matching to generate continuous viewpoint-refinement trajectories. To balance the competing demands of continuous control and semantic reasoning, we devise a decoupled training strategy with a knowledge insulation mechanism that prevents the action gradients from erasing the model's multimodal reasoning ability. Extensive simulated experiments and a qualitative real-world field study both verify the superiority of ScoutVLA over the state-of-the-art baselines, demonstrating a 10.48$\boldsymbol{\times}$ higher average strict success rate and a 7.72$\boldsymbol{\times}$ higher average QA correctness.

Subject-Specific Low-Field MRI Synthesis via a Neural Operator

Low-field (LF) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improves accessibility and reduces costs but generally has lower signal-to-noise ratios and degraded contrast compared to high field (HF) MRI, limiting its clinical utility. Simulating LF MRI from HF MRI enables virtual evaluation of novel imaging devices and development of LF algorithms. Existing low field simulators rely on noise injection and smoothing, which fail to capture the contrast degradation seen in LF acquisitions. To this end, we introduce an end-to-end LF-MRI synthesis framework that learns HF to LF image degradation directly from a small number of paired HF-LF MRIs. Specifically, we introduce a novel HF to LF coordinate-image decoupled neural operator (H2LO) to model the underlying degradation process, and tailor it to capture high-frequency noise textures and image structure. Experimental results in T1w and T2w MRI demonstrate that H2LO produces more faithful simulated low-field images than existing parameterized noise synthesis models and popular image-to-image translation models. Furthermore, it improves performance in downstream image enhancement tasks, showcasing its potential to enhance LF MRI diagnostic capabilities.

High-Quality and Efficient Turbulence Mitigation with Events

Turbulence mitigation (TM) is highly ill-posed due to the stochastic nature of atmospheric turbulence. Most methods rely on multiple frames recorded by conventional cameras to capture stable patterns in natural scenarios. However, they inevitably suffer from a trade-off between accuracy and efficiency: more frames enhance restoration at the cost of higher system latency and larger data overhead. Event cameras, equipped with microsecond temporal resolution and efficient sensing of dynamic changes, offer an opportunity to break the bottleneck. In this work, we present EHETM, a high-quality and efficient TM method inspired by the superiority of events to model motions in continuous sequences. We discover two key phenomena: (1) turbulence-induced events exhibit distinct polarity alternation correlated with sharp image gradients, providing structural cues for restoring scenes; and (2) dynamic objects form spatiotemporally coherent ``event tubes'' in contrast to irregular patterns within turbulent events, providing motion priors for disentangling objects from turbulence. Based on these insights, we design two complementary modules that respectively leverage polarity-weighted gradients for scene refinement and event-tube constraints for motion decoupling, achieving high-quality restoration with few frames. Furthermore, we construct two real-world event-frame turbulence datasets covering atmospheric and thermal cases. Experiments show that EHETM outperforms SOTA methods, especially under scenes with dynamic objects, while reducing data overhead and system latency by approximately 77.3% and 89.5%, respectively. Our code is available at: https://github.com/Xavier667/EHETM.

Cross-sphere Coupling and Source Inversion of Ionospheric Disturbances Associated with the 2025 Myanmar Strike-slip Earthquake from BeiDou GEO and Multi-GNSS Observations

Focusing on the M7.9 earthquake in Myanmar in 2025, this study comprehensively utilizes data from BeiDou geostationary satellites of the Chinese Continental Crustal Movement Observation Network and multi-system Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The spatiotemporal evolution characteristics and physical mechanisms of pre-seismic ionospheric anomalies and co-seismic ionospheric disturbances were systematically analyzed. By employing the moving interquartile range method combined with solar-terrestrial environmental parameters, a negative Total Electron Content (TEC) anomaly associated with the seismogenic region was identified three days before the earthquake. The equatorial conjugate structure of this TEC anomaly revealed a multi-path coupling effect between the lithosphere, atmosphere, and ionosphere. The extraction of Coherent Ionospheric Disturbance (CID) signals based on wavelet transform and band-pass filtering indicated that the co-seismic ionospheric disturbances were dominated by acoustic-gravity waves in the 2-8 mHz frequency band, propagating at a speed of approximately 1.2 km/s, and exhibiting an asymmetric pattern in the southeast direction. A spatial density-weighted method for locating the source of ionospheric disturbances was proposed, elucidating the joint control mechanism of fault strike-slip motion, geomagnetic field modulation, and equatorial electrojet on the disturbance energy. The results confirm that the high spatiotemporal resolution of BeiDou GEO satellites and multi-system GNSS significantly enhances the capability to capture weak ionospheric anomaly signals associated with earthquakes. These results provide additional observational constraints on space-based Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere Coupling (LAIC) processes and may contribute to the development of ionosphere-based earthquake monitoring techniques.

Pressure-induced reentrant superconductivity in a misfit layered compound $\mathrm{(SnS)_{1.15}(TaS_2)}$

Misfit layered compounds are natural van der Waals heterostructures in which electronically active transition-metal dichalcogenide layers are decoupled by incommensurate blocking layers, enabling bulk realization of quasi-two-dimensional quantum states. Here we investigate the superconducting, transport, and structural properties of the misfit compound $\mathrm{(SnS)_{1.15}(TaS_2)}$ under pressures up to 150 GPa. The low-pressure superconducting phase is gradually suppressed and disappears near 14.7 GPa,accompanied by increasing residual resistance. Remarkably, a distinct superconducting phase reemerges above 80 GPa and persists to the highest pressures achieved. This reentrant superconductivity follows a pressure-induced sign reversal of the Hall coefficient near 60 GPa and a nonmonotonic evolution of the normal-state resistance, indicating an electronic reconstruction. No structural phase transition is detected over the entire pressure range. Our results demonstrate a pressure-driven electronic reconstruction leading to reentrant superconductivity in a misfit layered compound, establishing pressure as an effective route to engineer superconductivity and electronic states in natural van der Waals heterostructures.

Does DINOv3 Set a New Medical Vision Standard? Benchmarking 2D and 3D Classification, Segmentation, and Registration

The advent of large-scale vision foundation models, pre-trained on diverse natural images, has marked a paradigm shift in computer vision. However, how the frontier vision foundation models' efficacies transfer to specialised domains such as medical imaging remains an open question. This report investigates whether DINOv3, a state-of-the-art self-supervised vision transformer (ViT) pre-trained on natural images, can directly serve as a powerful, unified encoder for medical vision tasks without domain-specific fine-tuning. To answer this, we benchmark DINOv3 across common medical vision tasks, including 2D and 3D classification, segmentation, and registration on a wide range of medical imaging modalities. We systematically analyse its scalability by varying model sizes and input image resolutions. Our findings reveal that DINOv3 shows impressive performance and establishes a formidable new baseline. Remarkably, it can even outperform medical-specific foundation models like BiomedCLIP and CT-Net on several tasks, despite being trained solely on natural images. However, we identify clear limitations: The model's features degrade in scenarios requiring deep domain specialisation, such as in whole-slide images (WSIs), electron microscopy (EM), and positron emission tomography (PET). Furthermore, we observe that DINOv3 does not consistently follow the scaling law in the medical domain. Its performance does not reliably increase with larger models or finer feature resolutions, showing diverse scaling behaviours across tasks. Overall, our work establishes DINOv3 as a strong baseline, whose powerful visual features can serve as a robust prior for multiple medical tasks. This opens promising future directions, such as leveraging its features to enforce multiview consistency in 3D reconstruction.

Genuine Tripartite Strong Coupling in a Superconducting-Spin Hybrid Quantum System

We demonstrate genuine tripartite strong coupling in a solid-state hybrid quantum system comprising a superconducting transmon qubit, a fixed-frequency coplanar-waveguide resonator, and an ensemble of NV$^-$ centers in diamond. Frequency-domain spectroscopy reveals a characteristic three-mode avoided crossing, indicating that single excitations are coherently shared across all three subsystems. At higher probe powers, we observe nonlinear features including multiphoton transitions and signatures of transmon-${}^{14}\mathrm{N}$ nuclear-spin interactions, highlighting the accessibility of higher-excitation manifolds in this architecture. These results establish a new regime of hybrid cavity QED that integrates superconducting and spin degrees of freedom, providing a platform for exploring complex multicomponent dynamics and developing hybrid quantum interfaces.

Diamond quantum sensing at record high pressure up to 240 GPa

Quantum sensing utilizing nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond has emerged as a transformative technology for probing magnetic phase transition1-4, evidencing Meissner effect of superconductors1,5-9, and visualizing stress distribution3,9 under extreme conditions. Recent development in NV configurations and hydrostatic environments have raised the operational pressures of NV centers to 140 GPa2,6,10,11, but substantial challenges remain in extending sensing capabilities into multi-megabar range, critical for research in hydrogen-rich superconductors like La-Sc-H ($T_{\text{c}}$ of 271-298 K at 195-266 GPa)12 and evolution of minerals near Earth's core13. Here we report the fabrication of shallow NV centers through ion implantation followed by high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) annealing, leading to increased density, improved coherence, and mitigated internal stresses, a pre-requisite for reducing their degradation under compression. This NV magnetometry enable breakthrough of pressure capabilities exceeding 240 GPa, constrained by structural integrity of the 50 um diamond anvils, suggesting that the untapped pressure limit may enable further advancements with smaller cutlets or more robust diamonds. We present compelling evidence of the Meissner effect and trapped flux at record-high pressure of 180 GPa for superconducting transition in elemental titanium (Ti) as benchmark, establishing a solid foundation for high-pressure magnetometry in exploring complex quantum phenomena at previously unreachable pressures.

L2RSI: Cross-view LiDAR-based Place Recognition for Large-scale Urban Scenes via Remote Sensing Imagery

We tackle the challenge of LiDAR-based place recognition, which traditionally depends on costly and time-consuming prior 3D maps. To overcome this, we first construct LiRSI-XA dataset, which encompasses approximately $110,000$ remote sensing submaps and $13,000$ LiDAR point cloud submaps captured in urban scenes, and propose a novel method, L2RSI, for cross-view LiDAR place recognition using high-resolution Remote Sensing Imagery. This approach enables large-scale localization capabilities at a reduced cost by leveraging readily available overhead images as map proxies. L2RSI addresses the dual challenges of cross-view and cross-modal place recognition by learning feature alignment between point cloud submaps and remote sensing submaps in the semantic domain. Additionally, we introduce a novel probability propagation method based on particle estimation to refine position predictions, effectively leveraging temporal and spatial information. This approach enables large-scale retrieval and cross-scene generalization without fine-tuning. Extensive experiments on LiRSI-XA demonstrate that, within a $100km^2$ retrieval range, L2RSI accurately localizes $83.27\%$ of point cloud submaps within a $30m$ radius for top-$1$ retrieved location. ETA: Energy-based Test-time Adaptation for Depth Completion

We propose a method for test-time adaptation of pretrained depth completion models. Depth completion models, trained on some ``source'' data, often predict erroneous outputs when transferred to ``target'' data captured in novel environmental conditions due to a covariate shift. The crux of our method lies in quantifying the likelihood of depth predictions belonging to the source data distribution. The challenge is in the lack of access to out-of-distribution (target) data prior to deployment. Hence, rather than making assumptions regarding the target distribution, we utilize adversarial perturbations as a mechanism to explore the data space. This enables us to train an energy model that scores local regions of depth predictions as in- or out-of-distribution. We update the parameters of pretrained depth completion models at test time to minimize energy, effectively aligning test-time predictions to those of the source distribution. We call our method ``Energy-based Test-time Adaptation'', or ETA for short. We evaluate our method across three indoor and three outdoor datasets, where ETA improve over the previous state-of-the-art method by an average of 6.94% for outdoors and 10.23% for indoors. High-Efficiency Quantum Memory of Full-Bandwidth Squeezed Light

In continuous-variable quantum information processing, it is crucial to develop high-efficiency and broadband quantum memory of squeezed light, which enables the storage of full-bandwidth information. Here, we present a quantum memory of squeezed light with up to 24 MHz bandwidth, which is at least 12 times that of previous narrowband resonant memory systems, via a far-off resonant Raman process. We achieve output squeezing of as high as 1.0 dB with fidelity above 92% and a memory efficiency of 80%, corresponding to an end-to-end efficiency of 64.2%, when input squeezing is 1.6 dB. The lowest excess noise of 0.025 shot-noise-unit in the memory system is estimated by the noisy channel model which is benefited from optimizing quantum memory performance with a backward retrieval strategy. Our results represent a breakthrough in high-performance memory for squeezed states within tens of MHz-level bandwidth, which has potential applications in high-speed quantum information processing.
