BuildArena: A Physics-Aligned Interactive Benchmark of LLMs for Engineering Construction

Engineering construction automation aims to transform natural language specifications into physically viable structures, requiring complex integrated reasoning under strict physical constraints. While modern LLMs possess broad knowledge and strong reasoning capabilities that make them promising candidates for this domain, their construction competencies remain largely unevaluated. To address this gap, we introduce BuildArena, the first physics-aligned interactive benchmark designed for language-driven engineering construction. Technically, it contributes to the community in two aspects: (1) an extendable task design strategy spanning static and dynamic mechanics across multiple difficulty tiers; (2) a 3D Spatial Geometric Computation Library for supporting construction based on language instructions. On nine frontier LLMs and three additional open-weight models, BuildArena comprehensively evaluates their capabilities for language-driven and physics-grounded construction automation. We release the code at https://github.com/AI4Science-WestlakeU/BuildArena to benefit construction automation in engineering applications.

R$^2$-Searcher: Calibrating Retrieval and Reasoning Boundaries for Agentic Search

Recent search agents for multi-hop reasoning often fail by either retrieving incomplete evidence or reasoning over irrelevant portions of the retrieved content, leading to a retrieval-reasoning boundary shift. We propose R$^2$-Searcher, a novel framework that explicitly explores and calibrates the retrieval and reasoning boundaries via fine-grained, query-token-guided evidence modeling and post-retrieval reflection. Specifically, R$^2$-Searcher: (1) constructs fine-grained reasoning contexts by extracting precise facts from retrieved content based on query token semantics (e.g., subjects, actions, temporal markers, and degree modifiers), thereby guiding the attention of search agent; (2) introduces a retrieval reflection mechanism that evaluates and corrects boundary deviations after each retrieval step, guiding the generation of improved queries grounded in the extracted reasoning contexts; and (3) employs an end-to-end reasoning-reflection-guided reinforcement learning algorithm, R$^2$PO, which jointly optimizes both boundaries through a tree-based exploration of reasoning regions and reflections. Our method significantly enhances the quality of both retrieval and reasoning, establishing an iterative loop where retrieval and reasoning mutually enhance each other. Extensive experiments on seven complex multi-hop QA benchmarks demonstrate that R$^2$-Searcher significantly outperforms state-of-the-art agentic search methods in answer accuracy and retrieval-reasoning quality. Ablation studies further confirm the critical role of retrieval-reasoning boundary calibration.

From Uncertain to Safe: Conformal Adaptation of Diffusion Models for Safe PDE Control

The application of deep learning for partial differential equation (PDE)-constrained control is gaining increasing attention. However, existing methods rarely consider safety requirements crucial in real-world applications. To address this limitation, we propose Safe Diffusion Models for PDE Control (SafeDiffCon), which introduce the uncertainty quantile as model uncertainty quantification to achieve optimal control under safety constraints through both post-training and inference phases. Firstly, our approach post-trains a pre-trained diffusion model to generate control sequences that better satisfy safety constraints while achieving improved control objectives via a reweighted diffusion loss, which incorporates the uncertainty quantile estimated using conformal prediction. Secondly, during inference, the diffusion model dynamically adjusts both its generation process and parameters through iterative guidance and fine-tuning, conditioned on control targets while simultaneously integrating the estimated uncertainty quantile. We evaluate SafeDiffCon on three control tasks: 1D Burgers' equation, 2D incompressible fluid, and controlled nuclear fusion problem. Results demonstrate that SafeDiffCon is the only method that satisfies all safety constraints, whereas other classical and deep learning baselines fail. Furthermore, while adhering to safety constraints, SafeDiffCon achieves the best control performance. The code can be found at https://github.com/AI4Science-WestlakeU/safediffcon.

RAGR: Review-Augmented Generative Recommendation

Sequential recommendation (SR) is traditionally formulated as next-item prediction over chronological item interactions. Although recent generative recommendation (GR) methods introduce new machinery, such as semantic IDs, autoregressive decoding, and unified token spaces, they largely inherit the same item-only modeling assumption. We argue that this design constitutes a structural bottleneck, because user decision-making is not purely behavioral: while item interactions reveal what users choose, review feedback often explains why they choose it by exposing latent evaluative factors. Motivated by this observation, we propose Review-Augmented Generative Recommendation (RAGR), a novel GR framework that incorporates review feedback into the generative user sequence rather than treating reviews as auxiliary side information. Specifically, RAGR introduces a Review-Augmented User Sequence Modeling mechanism that interleaves item semantic IDs and review semantic IDs in chronological order to construct a mixed behavioral-semantic sequence, enabling review signals to participate directly in autoregressive next-token generation. To preserve the recommendation objective, we further introduce an Item-Centric Task Generation Alignment strategy based on direct preference optimization (DPO), encouraging the model to favor item tokens over review tokens at prediction positions. Experiments on three real-world datasets show that RAGR yields consistent and significant gains over strong GR backbones. Our code is available at https://github.com/Zhang-Yingyi/RAGR.

Towards Pareto-Optimal Tool-Integrated Agents with Pareto Ranking Policy Optimization

Recent advances in tool-integrated language agents have significantly improved their ability to solve complex reasoning tasks. However, existing alignment methods predominantly focus on maximizing task accuracy, while overlooking auxiliary objectives such as tool-use efficiency, which are essential for practical deployment. To address this gap, we introduce ParetoPO, a two-stage multi-objective optimization framework for aligning tool-using large language models (LLMs) under competing objectives. In the first stage, ParetoPO leverages hypervolume-guided dynamic scalarization to adapt reward weights based on global Pareto frontier progress. In the second stage, it replaces scalarized learning signals with Pareto-ranking-based advantage computation, promoting nondominated trajectories through dominance-aware credit assignment. This design enables fine-grained, action-level optimization across multiple conflicting objectives. Experimental results on mathematic reasoning and multi-hop QA tasks show that ParetoPO consistently discovers policies with superior accuracy-efficiency trade-offs compared to static and heuristic baselines.

MemSearch-o1: Empowering Large Language Models with Reasoning-Aligned Memory Growth in Agentic Search

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have scaled the potential for reasoning and agentic search, wherein models autonomously plan, retrieve, and reason over external knowledge to answer complex queries. However, the iterative think-search loop accumulates long system memories, leading to memory dilution problem. In addition, existing memory management methods struggle to capture fine-grained semantic relations between queries and documents and often lose substantial information. Therefore, we propose MemSearch-o1, an agentic search framework built on reasoning-aligned memory growth and retracing. MemSearch-o1 dynamically grows fine-grained memory fragments from memory seed tokens from the queries, then retraces and deeply refines the memory via a contribution function, and finally reorganizes a globally connected memory path. This shifts memory management from stream-like concatenation to structured, token-level growth with path-based reasoning. Experiments on eight benchmark datasets show that MemSearch-o1 substantially mitigates memory dilution, and more effectively activates the reasoning potential of diverse LLMs, establishing a solid foundation for memory-aware agentic intelligence.

Wideband Beamforming with RIS: A Unified Framework via Space-Frequency Transformation

The spectrum shift from the sub-6G band to the high-frequency band has posed an ever-increasing demand on the paradigm shift from narrowband beamforming to wideband beamforming. Despite recent research efforts, the problem of wideband beamforming design is particularly challenging in reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted systems, due to that RIS is not capable of performing frequency-dependent phase shift, therefore inducing high signal processing complexity. In this paper, we propose a simple-yet-efficient wideband beamforming design for RIS-assisted systems, in which a transmitter sends wideband signals to a desired target, through the aid of the RIS. In our proposed design, we exploit space-frequency Fourier transformation and stationary phase method to yield an approximate closed-form solution of the RIS phase shifts which significantly reduces the signal processing complexity, compared to the existing approaches. The obtained solution is then used to generate a large and flat beampattern over the desired frequency band. Through numerical results, we validate the effectiveness of our proposed beamforming design and demonstrate how it can improve system performances in terms of communication rate and sensing resolution. Beyond generating the flat beampattern, we highlight that our proposed design is capable of mimicking any desired beampattern by matching the RIS phase shift with the amplitude modulation function, thus providing valuable insights into the design of novel wideband beamforming for RIS-assisted systems.

Addressing Shortcomings in Fair Graph Learning Datasets: Towards a New Benchmark

Fair graph learning plays a pivotal role in numerous practical applications. Recently, many fair graph learning methods have been proposed; however, their evaluation often relies on poorly constructed semi-synthetic datasets or substandard real-world datasets. In such cases, even a basic Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) can outperform Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) in both utility and fairness. In this work, we illustrate that many datasets fail to provide meaningful information in the edges, which may challenge the necessity of using graph structures in these problems. To address these issues, we develop and introduce a collection of synthetic, semi-synthetic, and real-world datasets that fulfill a broad spectrum of requirements. These datasets are thoughtfully designed to include relevant graph structures and bias information crucial for the fair evaluation of models. The proposed synthetic and semi-synthetic datasets offer the flexibility to create data with controllable bias parameters, thereby enabling the generation of desired datasets with user-defined bias values with ease. Moreover, we conduct systematic evaluations of these proposed datasets and establish a unified evaluation approach for fair graph learning models. Our extensive experimental results with fair graph learning methods across our datasets demonstrate their effectiveness in benchmarking the performance of these methods. Our datasets and the code for reproducing our experiments are available at https://github.com/XweiQ/Benchmark-GraphFairness.

Upper Bounding Barlow Twins: A Novel Filter for Multi-Relational Clustering

Multi-relational clustering is a challenging task due to the fact that diverse semantic information conveyed in multi-layer graphs is difficult to extract and fuse. Recent methods integrate topology structure and node attribute information through graph filtering. However, they often use a low-pass filter without fully considering the correlation among multiple graphs. To overcome this drawback, we propose to learn a graph filter motivated by the theoretical analysis of Barlow Twins. We find that input with a negative semi-definite inner product provides a lower bound for Barlow Twins loss, which prevents it from reaching a better solution. We thus learn a filter that yields an upper bound for Barlow Twins. Afterward, we design a simple clustering architecture and demonstrate its state-of-the-art performance on four benchmark datasets.

Sensing-based Beamforming Design for Joint Performance Enhancement of RIS-Aided ISAC Systems

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has shown its great potential in facilitating device-based integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), where sensing and communication tasks are mostly conducted on different time-frequency resources. While the more challenging scenarios of simultaneous sensing and communication (SSC) have so far drawn little attention. In this paper, we propose a novel RIS-aided ISAC framework where the inherent location information in the received communication signals from a blind-zone user equipment is exploited to enable SSC. We first design a two-phase ISAC transmission protocol. In the first phase, communication and coarse-grained location sensing are performed concurrently by exploiting the very limited channel state information, while in the second phase, by using the coarse-grained sensing information obtained from the first phase, simple-yet-efficient sensing-based beamforming designs are proposed to realize both higher-rate communication and fine-grained location sensing. We demonstrate that our proposed framework can achieve almost the same performance as the communication-only frameworks, while providing up to millimeter-level positioning accuracy. In addition, we show how the communication and sensing performance can be simultaneously boosted through our proposed sensing-based beamforming designs. The results presented in this work provide valuable insights into the design and implementation of other ISAC systems considering SSC.
