SRL: Combining SLIP Model and Reinforcement Learning for Agile Robotic Jumping

Robotic jumping is pivotal in applications such as search and rescue and logistics, where crossing obstacles and enhancing mobility efficiency are critical. The Spring-Loaded Inverted Pendulum (SLIP) model leverages simplified spring-mass dynamics that naturally encode biologically plausible hopping motions, yet its performance degrades on irregular terrain due to idealized assumptions regarding contact and joint dynamics. Meanwhile, Reinforcement Learning (RL) can adapt to diverse and complex environments but often requires extensive data from unguided exploration. The complementary strengths of SLIP's physically grounded baseline and RL's adaptive capabilities motivate a hybrid framework that overcomes these individual limitations. We therefore propose Spring-loaded Reinforcement Learning (SRL), which integrates SLIP-based feedforward control signals with RL-driven real-time feedback, enabling continuous optimization of robotic jumping. Experimental results demonstrate that SRL can achieve more stable jumps with much less training time than the baseline method, maintaining an average position tracking error below 0.1 m and velocity tracking errors within +/-3% of the target values. Through bipedal and quadrupedal simulations of ground and stair jumping, as well as sim-to-sim and sim-to-real validations, SRL exhibits robust adaptability to various task requirements and environmental complexities, underscoring its potential for real-world deployment.

On the algebraic $K$-theory of smooth schemes over truncated Witt vectors

We study the algebraic $K$-theory of smooth schemes over $W_n(\Bbbk)$, where $\Bbbk$ is a perfect field of characteristic $p>0$. For a $p$-adic smooth scheme $X_{\centerdot}$ over $W_{\centerdot}(k)$, we introduce complexes $p^{r,m}_{r,n}Ω^{\bullet}_{X_{\centerdot}}$ and infinitesimal motivic complexes $\mathbb{Z}_{X_n}(r)$, and for $0 \leq i \leq p-4$, we establish a Chern character isomorphism between the sheaf $\mathcal{K}_{X_n,X_{m},i}$ and the direct sum of certain cohomology sheaves of $p^{r,m}_{r,n}Ω^{\bullet}_{X_{\centerdot}}$ with $1\leq r\leq i$. This leads to a criterion for $K$-theoretic infinitesimal deformations, which is related to Emerton's $p$-adic variational Hodge conjecture. By taking the limit $n \rightarrow \infty$ with $m=1$, we recover a theorem of Bloch, Esnault, and Kerz on continuous relative algebraic $K$-theory. The proof combines Brun's isomorphism relating $K$-theory to derived cyclic homology, computations of relative cyclic homology over $W(\Bbbk)$, and an analysis of multiplicative structures of the mod $p$ relative $K$-theory.

Large Language Model Aided Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome Diagnosis with Multimodal Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Deep learning methods face dual challenges of limited clinical samples and low inter-class differentiation among Diffuse Cystic Lung Diseases (DCLDs) in advancing Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome (BHD) diagnosis via Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. While Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) demonstrate diagnostic potential fo such rare diseases, the absence of domain-specific knowledge and referable radiological features intensify hallucination risks. To address this problem, we propose BHD-RAG, a multimodal retrieval-augmented generation framework that integrates DCLD-specific expertise and clinical precedents with MLLMs to improve BHD diagnostic accuracy. BHDRAG employs: (1) a specialized agent generating imaging manifestation descriptions of CT images to construct a multimodal corpus of DCLDs cases. (2) a cosine similarity-based retriever pinpointing relevant imagedescription pairs for query images, and (3) an MLLM synthesizing retrieved evidence with imaging data for diagnosis. BHD-RAG is validated on the dataset involving four types of DCLDs, achieving superior accuracy and generating evidence-based descriptions closely aligned with expert insights.

Hierarchical Structure-Property Alignment for Data-Efficient Molecular Generation and Editing

Property-constrained molecular generation and editing are crucial in AI-driven drug discovery but remain hindered by two factors: (i) capturing the complex relationships between molecular structures and multiple properties remains challenging, and (ii) the narrow coverage and incomplete annotations of molecular properties weaken the effectiveness of property-based models. To tackle these limitations, we propose HSPAG, a data-efficient framework featuring hierarchical structure-property alignment. By treating SMILES and molecular properties as complementary modalities, the model learns their relationships at atom, substructure, and whole-molecule levels. Moreover, we select representative samples through scaffold clustering and hard samples via an auxiliary variational auto-encoder (VAE), substantially reducing the required pre-training data. In addition, we incorporate a property relevance-aware masking mechanism and diversified perturbation strategies to enhance generation quality under sparse annotations. Experiments demonstrate that HSPAG captures fine-grained structure-property relationships and supports controllable generation under multiple property constraints. Two real-world case studies further validate the editing capabilities of HSPAG.

On singular Hilbert schemes of points: Local structures and tautological sheaves

We show an intrinsic version of Thomason's fixed-point theorem. Then we determine the local structure of the Hilbert scheme of at most $7$ points in $\mathbb{A}^3$. In particular, we show that in these cases, the points with the same extra dimension have the same singularity type. Using these results, we compute the equivariant Hilbert functions at the singularities and verify a conjecture of Zhou on the Euler characteristics of tautological sheaves on Hilbert schemes of points on $\mathbb{P}^3$ for at most $6$ points.

Big quantum cohomology of Fano complete intersections

For smooth complete intersections in the projective spaces, we use the deformation invariance of Gromov-Witten invariants and results in classical invariant theory to study the symmetric reduction of the WDVV equation by the monodromy groups. We propose a double root recursion conjecture for genus 0 invariants of non-exceptional Fano complete intersections other than the cubic hypersurfaces and the odd dimensional intersection of two quadrics. Based on it we develop an algorithm to compute the genus 0 invariants of any length and with any number of primitive insertions. The effectiveness of our algorithm is the main conjecture of this paper. We prove the conjecture at the first non-trivial order, which amounts to the computation of genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants with exactly 4 primitive insertions. We show a reconstruction theorem for the odd dimensional intersection of two quadrics. There are some 4-point and 8-point genus 0 Gromov-Witten invariants for cubic hypersurfaces that cannot be computed by the monodromy group method. We compute them by studying the cohomology ring structure of the Fano variety of lines and by Zinger's reduced genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants. Then we get a reconstruction theorem for cubic hypersurfaces. At the end of the paper, we give numerical examples and some conjectural closed formulae.

MBC: Multi-Brain Collaborative Control for Quadruped Robots

In the field of locomotion task of quadruped robots, Blind Policy and Perceptive Policy each have their own advantages and limitations. The Blind Policy relies on preset sensor information and algorithms, suitable for known and structured environments, but it lacks adaptability in complex or unknown environments. The Perceptive Policy uses visual sensors to obtain detailed environmental information, allowing it to adapt to complex terrains, but its effectiveness is limited under occluded conditions, especially when perception fails. Unlike the Blind Policy, the Perceptive Policy is not as robust under these conditions. To address these challenges, we propose a MBC:Multi-Brain collaborative system that incorporates the concepts of Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning and introduces collaboration between the Blind Policy and the Perceptive Policy. By applying this multi-policy collaborative model to a quadruped robot, the robot can maintain stable locomotion even when the perceptual system is impaired or observational data is incomplete. Our simulations and real-world experiments demonstrate that this system significantly improves the robot's passability and robustness against perception failures in complex environments, validating the effectiveness of multi-policy collaboration in enhancing robotic motion performance.

An inclusion-exclusion principle for tautological sheaves on Hilbert schemes of points

We show an equation of Euler characteristics of tautological sheaves on Hilbert schemes of points on the fibers of a double point degeneration. This equation resembles a computation of such Euler characteristics via a combinatorial inclusion-exclusion principle. As a consequence, we show the existence of universal polynomials for the Euler characteristics of tautological sheaves on the Hilbert scheme of points on smooth proper algebraic spaces. We apply this result to a conjecture of Zhou on tautological sheaves on Hilbert schemes of points, and reduce the conjecture to the cases of products of projective spaces. Our main tools are good degenerations and algebraic cobordism.

Rationality of $\mbox{dlog}$ $\mathbb{A}^1$-zeta functions

For every smooth proper scheme over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, Bilu, Ho, Srinivasan, Vogt, and Wickelgren introduced the dlog zeta function with coefficients in the Grothendieck-Witt ring $\mathrm{GW}(\mathbb{F}_q)$, enriching the dlog of the classical Weil zeta function with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}$. They defined a notion of dlog rationality of such dlog zeta functions, which enriches the rationality of the Weil zeta function, and showed the dlog rationality for simple cellular schemes. In this paper, we show that for any smooth proper schemes over $\mathbb{F}_q$, the dlog zeta function is rational, but not necessarily dlog rational.

Mirror symmetry for quadric hypersurfaces

We compute Przyjalkowski-Shramov's resolution of the Calabi-Yau compactification of Givental's mirror Landau-Ginzburg model of the quadric hypersurfaces. We deduce the Picard-Fuchs equation for the narrow periods, which mirror the ambient quantum cohomology of quadric hypersurfaces. Then by an indirect approach using the irreducibility of the narrow Picard-Fuchs operator we deduce the Picard-Fuchs equation of the broad period, which mirrors the quantum cohomology of quadric hypersurfaces involving primitive cohomology classes. The result suggests a natural choice of the opposite space in Barannikov's construction of Frobenius manifolds. Finally, we show an isomorphism between the Frobenius manifolds associated with the quantum cohomology of a quadric hypersurface and its mirror Landau-Ginzburg model.

Unsupervised Full-color Cellular Image Reconstruction through Disordered Optical Fiber

Recent years have witnessed the tremendous development of fusing fiber-optic imaging with supervised deep learning to enable high-quality imaging of hard-to-reach areas. Nevertheless, the supervised deep learning method imposes strict constraints on fiber-optic imaging systems, where the input objects and the fiber outputs have to be collected in pairs. To unleash the full potential of fiber-optic imaging, unsupervised image reconstruction is in demand. Unfortunately, neither optical fiber bundles nor multimode fibers can achieve a point-to-point transmission of the object with a high sampling density, as is a prerequisite for unsupervised image reconstruction. The recently proposed disordered fibers offer a new solution based on the transverse Anderson localization. Here, we demonstrate unsupervised full-color imaging with a cellular resolution through a meter-long disordered fiber in both transmission and reflection modes. The unsupervised image reconstruction consists of two stages. In the first stage, we perform a pixel-wise standardization on the fiber outputs using the statistics of the objects. In the second stage, we recover the fine details of the reconstructions through a generative adversarial network. Unsupervised image reconstruction does not need paired images, enabling a much more flexible calibration under various conditions. Our new solution achieves full-color high-fidelity cell imaging within a working distance of at least 4 mm by only collecting the fiber outputs after an initial calibration. High imaging robustness is also demonstrated when the disordered fiber is bent with a central angle of 60°. Moreover, the cross-domain generality on unseen objects is shown to be enhanced with a diversified object set.

Big quantum cohomology of even dimensional intersections of two quadrics

For even dimensional smooth complete intersections, of dimension at least 4, of two quadric hypersurfaces in a projective space, we study the genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants by the monodromy group of its whole family. We compute the invariants of length 4 and show that, besides a special invariant, all genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants can be reconstructed from the invariants of length 4. In dimension 4, we compute the special invariant by solving a curve counting problem. We show that the generating function of genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants has a positive radius of convergence. We show that, although the small quantum cohomology is not semisimple, the associated Frobenius manifold is generically tame semisimple.

On Genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants of Fano complete intersections

We study genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants of Fano complete intersections in the projective spaces. Among other things, we show a reconstruction theorem for genus 1 invariants with only ambient insertions, and compute the genus 1 invariants with 1 marked point. For cubic hypersurfaces of dimension $\neq 4$ and odd dimensional intersections of two quadrics, we obtain a complete reconstruction theorem for genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants.

The Choice Construct in the Souffle Language

Datalog has become a popular implementation language for solving large-scale, real-world problems, including bug finders, network analysis tools, and disassemblers. These applications express complex behaviour with hundreds of relations and rules that often require a non-deterministic choice for tuples in relations to express worklist algorithms. This work is an experience report that describes the implementation of a choice construct in the Datalog engine Souffle. With the choice construct, we can express worklist algorithms such as spanning trees in a few lines of code. We highlight the differences between rule-based choice as described in prior work, and relation-based choice introduced by this work. We show that a choice construct enables certain worklist algorithms to be computed up to 10kx faster than having no choice construct.

Adaptive Inverse Mapping: A Model-free Semi-supervised Learning Approach towards Robust Imaging through Dynamic Scattering Media

Imaging through scattering media is a useful and yet demanding task since it involves solving for an inverse mapping from speckle images to object images. It becomes even more challenging when the scattering medium undergoes dynamic changes. Various approaches have been proposed in recent years. However, to date, none is able to preserve high image quality without either assuming a finite number of sources for dynamic changes, assuming a thin scattering medium, or requiring the access to both ends of the medium. In this paper, we propose an adaptive inverse mapping (AIP) method which is flexible regarding any dynamic change and only requires output speckle images after initialization. We show that the inverse mapping can be corrected through unsupervised learning if the output speckle images are followed closely. We test the AIP method on two numerical simulations, namely, a dynamic scattering system formulated as an evolving transmission matrix and a telescope with a changing random phase mask at a defocus plane. Then we experimentally apply the AIP method on a dynamic fiber-optic imaging system. Increased robustness in imaging is observed in all three cases. With the excellent performance, we see the great potential of the AIP method in imaging through dynamic scattering media.

Gamma conjecture II for quadrics

The Gamma conjecture II for the quantum cohomology of a Fano manifold $F$, proposed by Galkin, Golyshev and Iritani, describes the asymptotic behavior of the flat sections of the Dubrovin connection near the irregular singularities, in terms of a full exceptional collection, if there exists, of $\mathcal D^b(F)$ and the $\widehatΓ$-integral structure. In this paper, for the smooth quadric hypersurfaces we prove the convergence of the full quantum cohomology and the Gamma conjecture II. For the proof, we first give a criterion on Gamma II for Fano manifolds with semisimple quantum cohomology, by Dubrovin's theorem of analytic continuations of semisimple Frobenius manifolds. Then we work out a closed formula of the Chern characters of spinor bundles on quadrics. By the deformation-invariance of Gromov-Witten invariants we show that the full quantum cohomology can be reconstructed by its ambient part, and use this to obtain estimations. Finally we complete the proof of Gamma II for quadrics by explicit asymptotic expansions of flat sections corresponding to Kapranov's exceptional collections and an application of our criterion.

On Suslin homology with integral coefficients in characteristic zero (with an appendix by Bruno Kahn)

We show that the Suslin homology group with integral coefficients of a scheme $X$ separated of finite type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is a direct sum of a uniquely divisible group, finite copies of $\mathbb{Q}/\mathbb{Z}$, and a finitely generated group. We also study the possible type of homomorphisms between such groups induced by the morphisms of schemes. An appendix written by Bruno Kahn is included, which simplifies the proofs and generalizes the results.
