Convolution theorems associated with quaternion linear canonical transform and applications

Novel types of convolution operators for quaternion linear canonical transform (QLCT) are proposed. Type one and two are defined in the spatial and QLCT spectral domains, respectively. They are distinct in the quaternion space and are consistent once in complex or real space. Various types of convolution formulas are discussed. Consequently, the QLCT of the convolution of two quaternionic functions can be implemented by the product of their QLCTs, or the summation of the products of their QLCTs. As applications, correlation operators and theorems of the QLCT are derived. The proposed convolution formulas are used to solve Fredholm integral equations with special kernels. Some systems of second-order partial differential equations, which can be transformed into the second-order quaternion partial differential equations, can be solved by the convolution formulas as well. As a final point, we demonstrate that the convolution theorem facilitates the design of multiplicative filters.

Bootstrapping Multi-view Representations for Fake News Detection

Previous researches on multimedia fake news detection include a series of complex feature extraction and fusion networks to gather useful information from the news. However, how cross-modal consistency relates to the fidelity of news and how features from different modalities affect the decision-making are still open questions. This paper presents a novel scheme of Bootstrapping Multi-view Representations (BMR) for fake news detection. Given a multi-modal news, we extract representations respectively from the views of the text, the image pattern and the image semantics. Improved Multi-gate Mixture-of-Expert networks (iMMoE) are proposed for feature refinement and fusion. Representations from each view are separately used to coarsely predict the fidelity of the whole news, and the multimodal representations are able to predict the cross-modal consistency. With the prediction scores, we reweigh each view of the representations and bootstrap them for fake news detection. Extensive experiments conducted on typical fake news detection datasets prove that the proposed BMR outperforms state-of-the-art schemes.

RWN: Robust Watermarking Network for Image Cropping Localization

Image cropping can be maliciously used to manipulate the layout of an image and alter the underlying meaning. Previous image crop detection schemes only predicts whether an image has been cropped, ignoring which part of the image is cropped. This paper presents a novel robust watermarking network (RWN) for image crop localization. We train an anti-crop processor (ACP) that embeds a watermark into a target image. The visually indistinguishable protected image is then posted on the social network instead of the original image. At the recipient's side, ACP extracts the watermark from the attacked image, and we conduct feature matching on the original and extracted watermark to locate the position of the crop in the original image plane. We further extend our scheme to detect tampering attack on the attacked image. Besides, we explore a simple yet efficient method (JPEG-Mixup) to improve the generalization of JPEG robustness. According to our comprehensive experiments, RWN is the first to provide high-accuracy and robust image crop localization. Besides, the accuracy of tamper detection is comparable with many state-of-the-art passive-based methods.

Signal reconstruction from noisy multichannel samples

We consider the signal reconstruction problem under the case of the signals sampled in the multichannel way and with the presence of noise. Observing that if the samples are inexact, the rigorous enforcement of multichannel interpolation is inappropriate. Thus the reasonable smoothing and regularized corrections are indispensable. In this paper, we propose several alternative methods for the signal reconstruction from the noisy multichannel samples under different smoothing and regularization principles. We compare these signal reconstruction methods theoretically and experimentally in the various situations. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods, the probability interpretation and the error analysis for these methods are provided. Additionally, the numerical simulations as well as some guidelines to use the methods are also presented.

Quaternion Hardy Functions for Local Images Feature Representation

This paper is concerned with the applications of local features of the quaternion Hardy function. The feature information can be provided by the polar form of the quaternion Hardy function, such as the local attenuation and local phase vector. By using the generalized Cauchy-Riemann equations of local features, four various kinds of edge detectors are newly developed. The experiment results show that the amplitude-based edge detectors perform the envelope of test images while the phase-based edge detectors give the detail of the test images. Our proposed algorithms greatly outperform existing schemes.
