From One Point to A Manifold: Knowledge Graph Embedding For Precise Link Prediction

Knowledge graph embedding aims at offering a numerical knowledge representation paradigm by transforming the entities and relations into continuous vector space. However, existing methods could not characterize the knowledge graph in a fine degree to make a precise prediction. There are two reasons: being an ill-posed algebraic system and applying an overstrict geometric form. As precise prediction is critical, we propose an manifold-based embedding principle (\textbf{ManifoldE}) which could be treated as a well-posed algebraic system that expands the position of golden triples from one point in current models to a manifold in ours. Extensive experiments show that the proposed models achieve substantial improvements against the state-of-the-art baselines especially for the precise prediction task, and yet maintain high efficiency.

SSP: Semantic Space Projection for Knowledge Graph Embedding with Text Descriptions

Knowledge representation is an important, long-history topic in AI, and there have been a large amount of work for knowledge graph embedding which projects symbolic entities and relations into low-dimensional, real-valued vector space. However, most embedding methods merely concentrate on data fitting and ignore the explicit semantic expression, leading to uninterpretable representations. Thus, traditional embedding methods have limited potentials for many applications such as question answering, and entity classification. To this end, this paper proposes a semantic representation method for knowledge graph \textbf{(KSR)}, which imposes a two-level hierarchical generative process that globally extracts many aspects and then locally assigns a specific category in each aspect for every triple. Since both aspects and categories are semantics-relevant, the collection of categories in each aspect is treated as the semantic representation of this triple. Extensive experiments justify our model outperforms other state-of-the-art baselines substantially.

Linguistically Regularized LSTMs for Sentiment Classification

Sentiment understanding has been a long-term goal of AI in the past decades. This paper deals with sentence-level sentiment classification. Though a variety of neural network models have been proposed very recently, however, previous models either depend on expensive phrase-level annotation, whose performance drops substantially when trained with only sentence-level annotation; or do not fully employ linguistic resources (e.g., sentiment lexicons, negation words, intensity words), thus not being able to produce linguistically coherent representations. In this paper, we propose simple models trained with sentence-level annotation, but also attempt to generating linguistically coherent representations by employing regularizers that model the linguistic role of sentiment lexicons, negation words, and intensity words. Results show that our models are effective to capture the sentiment shifting effect of sentiment, negation, and intensity words, while still obtain competitive results without sacrificing the models' simplicity.

TransA: An Adaptive Approach for Knowledge Graph Embedding

Knowledge representation is a major topic in AI, and many studies attempt to represent entities and relations of knowledge base in a continuous vector space. Among these attempts, translation-based methods build entity and relation vectors by minimizing the translation loss from a head entity to a tail one. In spite of the success of these methods, translation-based methods also suffer from the oversimplified loss metric, and are not competitive enough to model various and complex entities/relations in knowledge bases. To address this issue, we propose \textbf{TransA}, an adaptive metric approach for embedding, utilizing the metric learning ideas to provide a more flexible embedding method. Experiments are conducted on the benchmark datasets and our proposed method makes significant and consistent improvements over the state-of-the-art baselines.

Knowlege Graph Embedding by Flexible Translation

Knowledge graph embedding refers to projecting entities and relations in knowledge graph into continuous vector spaces. State-of-the-art methods, such as TransE, TransH, and TransR build embeddings by treating relation as translation from head entity to tail entity. However, previous models can not deal with reflexive/one-to-many/many-to-one/many-to-many relations properly, or lack of scalability and efficiency. Thus, we propose a novel method, flexible translation, named TransF, to address the above issues. TransF regards relation as translation between head entity vector and tail entity vector with flexible magnitude. To evaluate the proposed model, we conduct link prediction and triple classification on benchmark datasets. Experimental results show that our method remarkably improve the performance compared with several state-of-the-art baselines.

Max-Entropy Feed-Forward Clustering Neural Network

The outputs of non-linear feed-forward neural network are positive, which could be treated as probability when they are normalized to one. If we take Entropy-Based Principle into consideration, the outputs for each sample could be represented as the distribution of this sample for different clusters. Entropy-Based Principle is the principle with which we could estimate the unknown distribution under some limited conditions. As this paper defines two processes in Feed-Forward Neural Network, our limited condition is the abstracted features of samples which are worked out in the abstraction process. And the final outputs are the probability distribution for different clusters in the clustering process. As Entropy-Based Principle is considered into the feed-forward neural network, a clustering method is born. We have conducted some experiments on six open UCI datasets, comparing with a few baselines and applied purity as the measurement . The results illustrate that our method outperforms all the other baselines that are most popular clustering methods.

Margin-Based Feed-Forward Neural Network Classifiers

Margin-Based Principle has been proposed for a long time, it has been proved that this principle could reduce the structural risk and improve the performance in both theoretical and practical aspects. Meanwhile, feed-forward neural network is a traditional classifier, which is very hot at present with a deeper architecture. However, the training algorithm of feed-forward neural network is developed and generated from Widrow-Hoff Principle that means to minimize the squared error. In this paper, we propose a new training algorithm for feed-forward neural networks based on Margin-Based Principle, which could effectively promote the accuracy and generalization ability of neural network classifiers with less labelled samples and flexible network. We have conducted experiments on four UCI open datasets and achieved good results as expected. In conclusion, our model could handle more sparse labelled and more high-dimension dataset in a high accuracy while modification from old ANN method to our method is easy and almost free of work.

Priority-Aware Private Matching Schemes for Proximity-Based Mobile Social Networks

The rapid developments of mobile devices and online social networks have resulted in increasing attention to Mobile Social Networking (MSN). The explosive growth of mobile-connected and location-aware devices makes it possible and meaningful to do the Proximity-based Mobile Social Networks (PMSNs). Users can discover and make new social interactions easily with physical-proximate mobile users through WiFi/Bluetooth interfaces embedded in their smartphones. However, users enjoy these conveniences at the cost of their growing privacy concerns. To address this problem, we propose a suit of priority-aware private matching schemes to privately match the similarity with potential friends in the vicinity. Unlike most existing work, our proposed priority-aware matching scheme (P-match) achieves the privacy goal by combining the commutative encryption function and the Tanimoto similarity coefficient which considers both the number of common attributes between users as well as the corresponding priorities on each common attribute. Further, based on the newly constructed similarity function which takes the ratio of attributes matched over all the input set into consideration, we design an enhanced version to deal with some potential attacks such as unlimitedly inputting the attribute set on either the initiator side or the responder side, etc. Finally, our proposed E-match avoids the heavy cryptographic operations and improves the system performance significantly by employing a novel use of the Bloom filter. The security and communication/computation overhead of our schemes are thoroughly analyzed and evaluated via detailed simulations and implementation.

Detrended fluctuation analysis of traffic data

Different routing strategies may result in different behaviors of traffic on internet. We analyze the correlation of traffic data for three typical routing strategies by the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and find that the degree of correlation of the data can be divided into three regions, i.e., weak, medium, and strong correlation. The DFA scalings are constants in both the regions of weak and strong correlation but monotonously increase in the region of medium correlation. We suggest that it is better to consider the traffic on complex network as three phases, i.e., the free, buffer, and congestion phase, than just as two phases believed before, i.e., the free and congestion phase.
