DreamAvoid: Critical-Phase Test-Time Dreaming to Avoid Failures in VLA Policies

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models are often brittle in fine-grained manipulation, where minor action errors during the critical phases can rapidly escalate into irrecoverable failures. Since existing VLA models rely predominantly on successful demonstrations for training, they lack an explicit awareness of failure during these critical phases. To address this, we propose DreamAvoid, a critical-phase test-time dreaming framework that enables VLA models to anticipate and avoid failures. We also introduce an autonomous boundary learning paradigm to refine the system's understanding of the subtle boundary between success and failure. Specifically, we (1) utilize a Dream Trigger to determine whether the execution has entered a critical phase, (2) sample multiple candidate action chunks from the VLA via an Action Proposer, and (3) employ a Dream Evaluator, jointly trained on mixed data (success, failure, and boundary cases), to "dream" the short-horizon futures corresponding to the candidate actions, evaluate their values, and select the optimal action. We conduct extensive evaluations on real-world manipulation tasks and simulation benchmarks. The results demonstrate that DreamAvoid can effectively avoid failures, thereby improving the overall task success rate. Across four real-world tasks, DreamAvoid achieves 72.5% success, compared with 48.8% for the base policy and 54.4% for GPC-RANK. Our code is available at https://github.com/XianzheFan/DreamAvoid.

Object Concepts Emerge from Motion

Object-centric visual representations are important for physical-world perception, but existing visual pretraining methods often capture semantic categories without preserving the identity and coherence of individual instances. We present a biologically inspired framework that learns object-centric representations for single images from raw videos. Our approach uses motion boundaries as a source of object-level grouping: off-the-shelf optical flow and clustering produce pseudo-instance masks, which supervise a single-image encoder with pixel-level pairwise metric learning. The framework requires neither human annotations nor camera calibration. We first obtain 195 million pseudo-labeled frames from 7,163 hours of driving and web videos, then expand the supervision to 421 million frames with Motion-Verified Self-Training, which combines model proposals with motion evidence. We train encoders up to Swin-H and distill the learned representations into a family of Swin backbones. Across monocular depth estimation, 3D object detection, 3D occupancy prediction, and end-to-end planning, the resulting models achieve competitive or superior performance relative to supervised and self-supervised pretraining baselines, with particularly strong transfer on geometry- and instance-sensitive tasks. These results show that motion-derived supervision can teach static image encoders to represent visual instances, providing a complementary direction for scalable visual pretraining.

Beyond Data Scaling: Representation-Centric Continued Pre-training for Vision-Language-Action Models

Scaling robot data is crucial for building generalist Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, yet robot trajectories are harder to scale than web-scale image-text data because embodied collection is costly and sparsely covers the physical world. This makes representation quality a central bottleneck: under a fixed robot-data budget, continued pre-training must turn limited trajectories into transferable visual-action knowledge rather than merely fit actions. We propose VLAct, a VLA-oriented VLM backbone trained on broad, heterogeneous, multi-embodiment robot data before task-specific fine-tuning. VLAct preserves the broad VLM prior and encourages shared action semantics across embodiments through VLM-prior preservation, multi-head continuous action co-supervision, and a partially unified cross-embodiment action layout, while allowing task-specific action heads during fine-tuning. Across simulation, real-world, and unseen-embodiment transfer, VLAct consistently improves downstream performance under fixed fine-tuning protocols. On LIBERO-Plus and RoboTwin 2.0, VLAct surpasses industrial VLA systems including ABot-M0 and LingBot-VLA, achieving success rates of 82.6% and 92.5%. On RoboDojo, VLAct ranks sixth among all policies by success rate and outperforms all explicitly designated world-action model (WAM) entries on both metrics. Most notably, on RoboCasa-GR1, an unseen humanoid embodiment, VLAct using only 20% of downstream trajectories outperforms the full-data GR00T-N1.6 baseline. These results are obtained using fully open-source data and only a 16-GPU training setup, showing that representation-centric continued pre-training can deliver highly competitive performance under a modest compute budget and is an important independent axis of VLA progress beyond data scaling.

Utonia: Toward One Encoder for All Point Clouds

We dream of a future where point clouds from all domains can come together to shape a single model that benefits them all. Toward this goal, we present Utonia, a first step toward training a single self-supervised point transformer encoder across diverse domains, spanning remote sensing, outdoor LiDAR, indoor RGB-D sequences, object-centric CAD models, and point clouds lifted from RGB-only videos. Despite their distinct sensing geometries, densities, and priors, Utonia learns a consistent representation space that transfers across domains. This unification improves perception capability while revealing intriguing emergent behaviors that arise only when domains are trained jointly. Beyond perception, we observe that Utonia representations can also benefit embodied and multimodal reasoning: conditioning vision-language-action policies on Utonia features improves robotic manipulation, and integrating them into vision-language models yields gains on spatial reasoning. We hope Utonia can serve as a step toward foundation models for sparse 3D data, and support downstream applications in AR/VR, robotics, and autonomous driving.

Unified Conformalized Multiple Testing with Full Data Efficiency

Conformalized multiple testing offers a model-free way to control predictive uncertainty in decision-making. Existing methods typically use only part of the available data to build score functions tailored to specific settings. We propose a unified framework that puts data utilisation at the centre: it uses all available data-null, alternative, and unlabelled-to construct scores and calibrate p-values through a full permutation strategy. This unified use of all available data significantly improves power by enhancing non-conformity score quality and maximising calibration set size while rigorously controlling the false discovery rate. Crucially, our framework provides a systematic design principle for conformal testing and enables automatic selection of the best conformal procedure among candidates without extra data splitting. Extensive numerical experiments demonstrate that our enhanced methods deliver superior efficiency and adaptability across diverse scenarios.

Any3D-VLA: Enhancing VLA Robustness via Diverse Point Clouds

Existing Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models typically take 2D images as visual input, which limits their spatial understanding in complex scenes. How can we incorporate 3D information to enhance VLA capabilities? We conduct a pilot study across different observation spaces and visual representations. The results show that explicitly lifting visual input into point clouds yields representations that better complement their corresponding 2D representations. To address the challenges of (1) scarce 3D data and (2) the domain gap induced by cross-environment differences and depth-scale biases, we propose Any3D-VLA. It unifies the simulator, sensor, and model-estimated point clouds within a training pipeline, constructs diverse inputs, and learns domain-agnostic 3D representations that are fused with the corresponding 2D representations. Simulation and real-world experiments demonstrate Any3D-VLA's advantages in improving performance and mitigating the domain gap. Less Gaussians, Texture More: 4K Feed-Forward Textured Splatting

Existing feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting methods predict pixel-aligned primitives, leading to a quadratic growth in primitive count as resolution increases. This fundamentally limits their scalability, making high-resolution synthesis such as 4K intractable. We introduce LGTM (Less Gaussians, Texture More), a feed-forward framework that overcomes this resolution scaling barrier. By predicting compact Gaussian primitives coupled with per-primitive textures, LGTM decouples geometric complexity from rendering resolution. This approach enables high-fidelity 4K novel view synthesis without per-scene optimization, a capability previously out of reach for feed-forward methods, all while using significantly fewer Gaussian primitives. LiteReality: Graphics-Ready 3D Scene Reconstruction from RGB-D Scans

We propose LiteReality, a novel pipeline that converts RGB-D scans of indoor environments into compact, realistic, and interactive 3D virtual replicas. LiteReality not only reconstructs scenes that visually resemble reality but also supports key features essential for graphics pipelines -- such as object individuality, articulation, high-quality physically based rendering materials, and physically based interaction. At its core, LiteReality first performs scene understanding and parses the results into a coherent 3D layout and objects with the help of a structured scene graph. It then reconstructs the scene by retrieving the most visually similar 3D artist-crafted models from a curated asset database. Next, the Material Painting module enhances realism by recovering high-quality, spatially varying materials. Finally, the reconstructed scene is integrated into a simulation engine with basic physical properties to enable interactive behavior. The resulting scenes are compact, editable, and fully compatible with standard graphics pipelines, making them suitable for applications in AR/VR, gaming, robotics, and digital twins. In addition, LiteReality introduces a training-free object retrieval module that achieves state-of-the-art similarity performance on the Scan2CAD benchmark, along with a robust material painting module capable of transferring appearances from images of any style to 3D assets -- even under severe misalignment, occlusion, and poor lighting. We demonstrate the effectiveness of LiteReality on both real-life scans and public datasets. Project page: https://litereality.github.io; Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecK9m3LXg2c

Concerto: Joint 2D-3D Self-Supervised Learning Emerges Spatial Representations

Humans learn abstract concepts through multisensory synergy, and once formed, such representations can often be recalled from a single modality. Inspired by this principle, we introduce Concerto, a minimalist simulation of human concept learning for spatial cognition, combining 3D intra-modal self-distillation with 2D-3D cross-modal joint embedding. Despite its simplicity, Concerto learns more coherent and informative spatial features, as demonstrated by zero-shot visualizations. It outperforms both standalone SOTA 2D and 3D self-supervised models by 14.2% and 4.8%, respectively, as well as their feature concatenation, in linear probing for 3D scene perception. With full fine-tuning, Concerto sets new SOTA results across multiple scene understanding benchmarks (e.g., 80.7% mIoU on ScanNet). We further present a variant of Concerto tailored for video-lifted point cloud spatial understanding, and a translator that linearly projects Concerto representations into CLIP's language space, enabling open-world perception. These results highlight that Concerto emerges spatial representations with superior fine-grained geometric and semantic consistency.

Sim-to-Real Dynamic Object Manipulation on Conveyor Systems via Optimization Path Shaping

Realizing generalizable dynamic object manipulation on conveyor systems is important for enhancing manufacturing efficiency, as it eliminates specialized engineering for different scenarios. To this end, imitation learning emerges as a promising paradigm, leveraging expert demonstrations to teach a policy manipulation skills. Although the generalization of an imitation learning policy can be improved by increasing demonstrations, demonstration collection is labor-intensive. Besides, public dynamic object manipulation data is scarce. In this work, we address this data scarcity problem via generating demonstrations in a simulator. A significant challenge of using simulated data lies in the appearance gap between simulated and real-world observations. To tackle this challenge, we propose Geometry-Enhanced Model (GEM), which employs our designed appearance noise annealing strategy to shape the policy optimization path, thereby prioritizing the geometry information in observations. Extensive experiments in simulated and real-world tasks demonstrate that GEM can generalize across environment backgrounds, robot embodiments, motion dynamics, and object geometries. Notably, GEM is deployed in a real canteen for tableware collection. Without test-scene data, GEM achieves a success rate of over 97% across more than 10,000 operations.

DreamComposer++: Empowering Diffusion Models with Multi-View Conditions for 3D Content Generation

Recent advancements in leveraging pre-trained 2D diffusion models achieve the generation of high-quality novel views from a single in-the-wild image. However, existing works face challenges in producing controllable novel views due to the lack of information from multiple views. In this paper, we present DreamComposer++, a flexible and scalable framework designed to improve current view-aware diffusion models by incorporating multi-view conditions. Specifically, DreamComposer++ utilizes a view-aware 3D lifting module to extract 3D representations of an object from various views. These representations are then aggregated and rendered into the latent features of target view through the multi-view feature fusion module. Finally, the obtained features of target view are integrated into pre-trained image or video diffusion models for novel view synthesis. Experimental results demonstrate that DreamComposer++ seamlessly integrates with cutting-edge view-aware diffusion models and enhances their abilities to generate controllable novel views from multi-view conditions. This advancement facilitates controllable 3D object reconstruction and enables a wide range of applications.

MiCo: Multi-image Contrast for Reinforcement Visual Reasoning

This work explores enabling Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning to link visual cues across multiple images. A straightforward solution is to adapt rule-based reinforcement learning for Vision-Language Models (VLMs). However, such methods typically rely on manually curated question-answer pairs, which can be particularly challenging when dealing with fine grained visual details and complex logic across images. Inspired by self-supervised visual representation learning, we observe that images contain inherent constraints that can serve as supervision. Based on this insight, we construct image triplets comprising two augmented views of the same image and a third, similar but distinct image. During training, the model is prompted to generate a reasoning process to compare these images (i.e., determine same or different). Then we optimize the model with rule-based reinforcement learning. Due to the high visual similarity and the presence of augmentations, the model must attend to subtle visual changes and perform logical reasoning to succeed. Experiments show that, although trained solely on visual comparison tasks, the learned reasoning ability generalizes effectively to a wide range of questions. Without relying on any human-annotated question-answer pairs, our method achieves significant improvements on multi-image reasoning benchmarks and shows strong performance on general vision tasks.

GPT4Point: A Unified Framework for Point-Language Understanding and Generation

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have excelled in 2D image-text comprehension and image generation, but their understanding of the 3D world is notably deficient, limiting progress in 3D language understanding and generation. To solve this problem, we introduce GPT4Point, an innovative groundbreaking point-language multimodal model designed specifically for unified 3D object understanding and generation within the MLLM framework. GPT4Point as a powerful 3D MLLM seamlessly can execute a variety of point-text reference tasks such as point-cloud captioning and Q&A. Additionally, GPT4Point is equipped with advanced capabilities for controllable 3D generation, it can get high-quality results through a low-quality point-text feature maintaining the geometric shapes and colors. To support the expansive needs of 3D object-text pairs, we develop Pyramid-XL, a point-language dataset annotation engine. It constructs a large-scale database over 1M objects of varied text granularity levels from the Objaverse-XL dataset, essential for training GPT4Point. A comprehensive benchmark has been proposed to evaluate 3D point-language understanding capabilities. In extensive evaluations, GPT4Point has demonstrated superior performance in understanding and generation.

PonderV2: Pave the Way for 3D Foundation Model with A Universal Pre-training Paradigm

In contrast to numerous NLP and 2D vision foundational models, learning a 3D foundational model poses considerably greater challenges. This is primarily due to the inherent data variability and diversity of downstream tasks. In this paper, we introduce a novel universal 3D pre-training framework designed to facilitate the acquisition of efficient 3D representation, thereby establishing a pathway to 3D foundational models. Considering that informative 3D features should encode rich geometry and appearance cues that can be utilized to render realistic images, we propose to learn 3D representations by differentiable neural rendering. We train a 3D backbone with a devised volumetric neural renderer by comparing the rendered with the real images. Notably, our approach seamlessly integrates the learned 3D encoder into various downstream tasks. These tasks encompass not only high-level challenges such as 3D detection and segmentation but also low-level objectives like 3D reconstruction and image synthesis, spanning both indoor and outdoor scenarios. Besides, we also illustrate the capability of pre-training a 2D backbone using the proposed methodology, surpassing conventional pre-training methods by a large margin. For the first time, PonderV2 achieves state-of-the-art performance on 11 indoor and outdoor benchmarks, implying its effectiveness. Sonata: Self-Supervised Learning of Reliable Point Representations

In this paper, we question whether we have a reliable self-supervised point cloud model that can be used for diverse 3D tasks via simple linear probing, even with limited data and minimal computation. We find that existing 3D self-supervised learning approaches fall short when evaluated on representation quality through linear probing. We hypothesize that this is due to what we term the "geometric shortcut", which causes representations to collapse to low-level spatial features. This challenge is unique to 3D and arises from the sparse nature of point cloud data. We address it through two key strategies: obscuring spatial information and enhancing the reliance on input features, ultimately composing a Sonata of 140k point clouds through self-distillation. Sonata is simple and intuitive, yet its learned representations are strong and reliable: zero-shot visualizations demonstrate semantic grouping, alongside strong spatial reasoning through nearest-neighbor relationships. Sonata demonstrates exceptional parameter and data efficiency, tripling linear probing accuracy (from 21.8% to 72.5%) on ScanNet and nearly doubling performance with only 1% of the data compared to previous approaches. Full fine-tuning further advances SOTA across both 3D indoor and outdoor perception tasks.

VIP: Vision Instructed Pre-training for Robotic Manipulation

The effectiveness of scaling up training data in robotic manipulation is still limited. A primary challenge in manipulation is the tasks are diverse, and the trained policy would be confused if the task targets are not specified clearly. Existing works primarily rely on text instruction to describe targets. However, we reveal that current robotic data cannot train policies to understand text instruction effectively, and vision is much more comprehensible. Therefore, we introduce utilizing vision instruction to specify targets. A straightforward implementation is training a policy to predict the intermediate actions linking the current observation and a future image. Nevertheless, a single future image does not describe the task target in insufficient detail. To handle this problem, we propose to use sparse point flows to provide more detailed information. Extensive tasks are designed based on real and simulated environments to evaluate the effectiveness of our vision instructed pre-training (VIP) method. The results indicate VIP improves the performance on diverse tasks significantly, and the derived policy can complete competitive tasks like ``opening the lid of a tightly sealed bottle''.

SAMPart3D: Segment Any Part in 3D Objects

3D part segmentation is a crucial and challenging task in 3D perception, playing a vital role in applications such as robotics, 3D generation, and 3D editing. Recent methods harness the powerful Vision Language Models (VLMs) for 2D-to-3D knowledge distillation, achieving zero-shot 3D part segmentation. However, these methods are limited by their reliance on text prompts, which restricts the scalability to large-scale unlabeled datasets and the flexibility in handling part ambiguities. In this work, we introduce SAMPart3D, a scalable zero-shot 3D part segmentation framework that segments any 3D object into semantic parts at multiple granularities, without requiring predefined part label sets as text prompts. For scalability, we use text-agnostic vision foundation models to distill a 3D feature extraction backbone, allowing scaling to large unlabeled 3D datasets to learn rich 3D priors. For flexibility, we distill scale-conditioned part-aware 3D features for 3D part segmentation at multiple granularities. Once the segmented parts are obtained from the scale-conditioned part-aware 3D features, we use VLMs to assign semantic labels to each part based on the multi-view renderings. Compared to previous methods, our SAMPart3D can scale to the recent large-scale 3D object dataset Objaverse and handle complex, non-ordinary objects. Additionally, we contribute a new 3D part segmentation benchmark to address the lack of diversity and complexity of objects and parts in existing benchmarks. Experiments show that our SAMPart3D significantly outperforms existing zero-shot 3D part segmentation methods, and can facilitate various applications such as part-level editing and interactive segmentation.

Conditional Testing based on Localized Conformal p-values

In this paper, we address conditional testing problems through the conformal inference framework. We define the localized conformal p-values by inverting prediction intervals and prove their theoretical properties. These defined p-values are then applied to several conditional testing problems to illustrate their practicality. Firstly, we propose a conditional outlier detection procedure to test for outliers in the conditional distribution with finite-sample false discovery rate (FDR) control. We also introduce a novel conditional label screening problem with the goal of screening multivariate response variables and propose a screening procedure to control the family-wise error rate (FWER). Finally, we consider the two-sample conditional distribution test and define a weighted U-statistic through the aggregation of localized p-values. Numerical simulations and real-data examples validate the superior performance of our proposed strategies.
