Parity Metamaterials and Dynamic Acoustic Mimicry

While parity transformation represents a fundamental symmetry operation in physics, its implications remain underexplored in metamaterial science. Here, we introduce a framework leveraging parity transformation to construct parity-inverted counterparts of arbitrary three-dimensional meta-atoms, enabling the creation of parity-engineered metamaterial slabs. We demonstrate that the synergy between reciprocity and parity transformation, distinct from mirror operation, guarantees undistorted wave transmission across exceptional bandwidths, independent of structural configuration or meta-atom design specifics. Furthermore, these metamaterials exhibit dynamic acoustic mimicry capability, enabling adaptive blending of reflected signatures into surrounding environments while preserving transmitted wavefront integrity. Validated through numerical simulations and experimental prototypes, this breakthrough offers transformative potential for acoustic camouflage applications, particularly for sonar systems. Our findings reveal fundamental implications of parity transformation in artificial materials, establishing parity engineering as a paradigm for designing ultra-broadband functional materials with unprecedented operational versatility.

Metamaterial sound absorbers based on microperforated panels: an approach toward enhanced flexibility and near-limit broadband performance

Traditional microperforated panels (MPPs) and metamaterial-based sound absorbers rely on local resonances or multi-resonator designs, which limit their bandwidth, angular applicability, and ease of fabrication. Leveraging the reciprocity theorem and cavity resonances, we introduce a new class of robust MPP absorbers, termed meta-MPPs, capable of achieving ultrabroadband near-total sound absorption across a range of 0.37 to 10 kHz. These absorbers demonstrate average performance exceeding that of traditional MPPs by over 100%, approaching the theoretical causality limit. Notably, their absorption performance can be tuned between angularly asymmetric and omnidirectional modes and remains highly robust to variations in MPP parameters and geometrical configurations. Validated through simulations and experiments, our findings present a simpler, more robust, and highly adaptable solution for noise control.

Acoustic Multifunctional Logic Gates and Amplifier based on Passive Parity-Time Symmetry

Acoustic analogue computation and signal processing are of great significance, however, it's challenging to realize the acoustic computing devices because of their limitations of single function and complex structure. In this paper, an acoustic multifunctional device, which can gate or amplify acoustic waves without resorting to altering the frequency and structure using a passive acoustic parity-time (PT)-symmetric metamaterial, is realized theoretically and experimentally. The metamaterial is constructed by five lossless-loss periodically distributed media which are modulated to achieve the passive PT symmetry. At the coherent perfect absorber (CPA)-emitter point in the broken PT-symmetric phase, the logic gates (AND, OR, XOR and NOT) and small signal amplifier are realized in a single system by adjusting the phase and amplitude differences between two incoming beams, respectively. This work provides a new route for the connection between the PT symmetry and the acoustic metamaterial, which has great potential applications in acoustic modulation and acoustic multifunctional device.

Bidirectional acoustic negative refraction based on a pair of metasurfaces with both local and global PT-symmetries

Negative refraction plays an important role in acoustic wave manipulation and imaging. However, conventional systems based on acoustic metamaterials suffer from the limits induced by loss-related and resolution issues. In this work, a parity-time (PT)-symmetric system is introduced to realize loss-free bidirectional acoustic negative refraction. The system is composed of a pair of locally PT-symmetric multi-layer metasurfaces sandwiching a region of free space, which also forms a global PT-symmetry. The property of bidirectional negative refraction, which is rare for regular PT-symmetric structures, is related to the coexistence of amplification and absorption in the locally PT-symmetric metasurfaces at their PT broken phases. Such metasurfaces can freely switch their states between coherent perfect absorber (CPA) and amplifier depending on the direction of incidence. Our results provide a new physical mechanism for realizing bidirectional functions in PT-symmetric systems.

Reconstructing the Nonlinear Filter Function of LILI-128 Stream Cipher Based on Complexity

In this letter we assert that we have reconstructed the nonlinear filter function of LILI-128 stream cipher on IBM notebook PC using MATLAB. Our reconstruction need approximately 2^12~2^13 and the attack consumes 5825.016 sec (using tic and toc sentences of MATLAB) or 5825.016/3600=1.6181hours. We got the expression of the nonlinear filter function fd of Lili-128 which has 46 items from liner items to nonlinear items based on complexity, the phase space reconstruction, Clustering and nonlinear prediction. We have verified our reconstruction result correctness by simulating the overview of Lili-128 keystream generators using our getting fd and implement designers reference module of the Lili-128 stream cipher, and two methods produce the same synchronous keystream sequence on same initial state, so that our research work proves that the nonlinear filter function of LILI-128 stream cipher is successfully reconstructed.
