Bait-and-Recover: Poisoning Internal Refusal Signals to Defend LLMs against White-Box Editing Jailbreaks

Open-weight large language models face a low-cost white-box threat from representation engineering attacks. Attackers can estimate refusal directions and search for projection-matrix edits that suppress safety alignment while preserving general capabilities, within minutes on a single GPU and without gradient-based training. We propose Bait-and-Recover, a weight-level defense that places a bait adapter where attackers read activations and a paired recovery adapter at the subsequent layer. Trained via gradient routing, this decouples the observation path from the behavior path. By actively poisoning the residual signal used for measurement, Bait-and-Recover disrupts the attacker's edit search, while the recovery layer restores clean downstream computation. Across four open-weight models, our defense raises the minimum refusal rate against white-box edit searches from 16.25% to 71.75% under a strict behavior-preservation budget (KL <= 0.10), with negligible impact on general benchmarks. By invalidating the core measurement assumption of these attacks, observation-path poisoning offers a practical complement to behavior-level safety training.

Beyond Speech: Dual-Domain SSL Fusion for Unified All-Type Audio Deepfake Detection

Unified all-type audio deepfake detection aims to determine whether an input clip is real or fake when its audio type may be speech, environmental sound, singing voice, or music. Existing speech-centric or type-dependent solutions are insufficient for this setting because the test-time audio type is unknown, while the required output is still a single binary decision. To address these issues, this paper proposes a dual-domain SSL fusion method that maps heterogeneous audio into a shared binary authenticity space. EAT-large and wav2vec 2.0 XLS-R-300M are used as complementary SSL feature sources, providing broad acoustic and event-level representations as well as waveform-level, vocal, and speech-sensitive representations. Layer-wise weighted fusion integrates multi-level artifacts from different transformer depths, while token-level fusion forms a unified feature pool without enforcing frame-level alignment between the two SSL streams. The fused tokens are summarized by multi-head attentive statistics pooling and classified with a binary MLP head. With conservative speech refinement applied on top of this unified core detector, the submitted system achieves 95.58% Macro-F1 on the AT-ADD Track 2 evaluation set and ranks second in the challenge.

Dynamic Prosody Prediction in LLM-based TTS for Improving Speaker Similarity

Personalized text-to-speech (TTS) aims to clone the target speaker in the synthesized speech, imitating both the voice and speaking style. Current large language model (LLM)-based TTS methods ignore the style-specific prosodic patterns in generated speech, resulting in deficient style learning and thus limiting speaker similarity in synthesized speech. To this end, we investigate the prosody learning conditioned on the synthesized speech, and propose to predict the prosody of the current syllable based on previously predicted speech. Experimental results obtained on three datasets demonstrated the efficacy of the proposed dynamic prosody prediction method in enhancing the prosody learning capability, thereby improving the speaker similarity of the generated speech. Two remarks on decomposition numbers of standard modules for quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_2$

We use Nakajima's geometric approach to representations of quantum affine algebras and recent results on explicit descriptions of specific canonical basis elements, to derive closed positive formulas for certain decomposition numbers of representations of quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. Moreover, we obtain a piecewise-linear closed formula for the $q$-characters of irreducible representations of quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_2$.

Higher rank Gelfand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky fans

We define and study the higher rank GKZ-fans of point configurations, where the rank one cases coincide with the usual GKZ-fans. A point in a higher rank GKZ-fan is then used to construct higher rank quasi-valuations to degenerate the toric variety associated to the point configuration flatly to a reduced union of toric varieties. Such a union encodes the polytopal subdivision arising from the point in the higher rank GKZ-fan.

Improving Anomalous Sound Detection with Attribute-aware Representation from Domain-adaptive Pre-training

Anomalous Sound Detection (ASD) is often formulated as a machine attribute classification task, a strategy necessitated by the common scenario where only normal data is available for training. However, the exhaustive collection of machine attribute labels is laborious and impractical. To address the challenge of missing attribute labels, this paper proposes an agglomerative hierarchical clustering method for the assignment of pseudo-attribute labels using representations derived from a domain-adaptive pre-trained model, which are expected to capture machine attribute characteristics. We then apply model adaptation to this pre-trained model through supervised fine-tuning for machine attribute classification, resulting in a new state-of-the-art performance. Evaluation on the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2025 Challenge dataset demonstrates that our proposed approach yields significant performance gains, ultimately outperforming our previous top-ranking system in the challenge.

An Enhanced Audio Feature Tailored for Anomalous Sound Detection Based on Pre-trained Models

Anomalous Sound Detection (ASD) aims at identifying anomalous sounds from machines and has gained extensive research interests from both academia and industry. However, the uncertainty of anomaly location and much redundant information such as noise in machine sounds hinder the improvement of ASD system performance. This paper proposes a novel audio feature of filter banks with evenly distributed intervals, ensuring equal attention to all frequency ranges in the audio, which enhances the detection of anomalies in machine sounds. Moreover, based on pre-trained models, this paper presents a parameter-free feature enhancement approach to remove redundant information in machine audio. It is believed that this parameter-free strategy facilitates the effective transfer of universal knowledge from pre-trained tasks to the ASD task during model fine-tuning. Evaluation results on the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2024 Challenge dataset demonstrate significant improvements in ASD performance with our proposed methods.

BOASF: A Unified Framework for Speeding up Automatic Machine Learning via Adaptive Successive Filtering

Machine learning has been making great success in many application areas. However, for the non-expert practitioners, it is always very challenging to address a machine learning task successfully and efficiently. Finding the optimal machine learning model or the hyperparameter combination set from a large number of possible alternatives usually requires considerable expert knowledge and experience. To tackle this problem, we propose a combined Bayesian Optimization and Adaptive Successive Filtering algorithm (BOASF) under a unified multi-armed bandit framework to automate the model selection or the hyperparameter optimization. Specifically, BOASF consists of multiple evaluation rounds in each of which we select promising configurations for each arm using the Bayesian optimization. Then, ASF can early discard the poor-performed arms adaptively using a Gaussian UCB-based probabilistic model. Furthermore, a Softmax model is employed to adaptively allocate available resources for each promising arm that advances to the next round. The arm with a higher probability of advancing will be allocated more resources. Experimental results show that BOASF is effective for speeding up the model selection and hyperparameter optimization processes while achieving robust and better prediction performance than the existing state-of-the-art automatic machine learning methods. Moreover, BOASF achieves better anytime performance under various time budgets.

Gear-based Metamaterials for Extraordinary Bandgap Tunability

Metamaterials can be engineered with tunable bandgaps to adapt to dynamic and complex environments, particularly for controlling elastic waves and vibration. However, achieving wide-range, seamless, reversible, in-situ and robust tunability remains challenging and often impractical due to limitations in bandgap mechanisms and design principles. Here, we introduce gear-based metamaterials with unprecedented bandgap tunability. Our approach leverages Taiji planetary gear systems as variable-frequency local resonators, which allows the metamaterial to seamlessly modulate its bandgap's center frequency by 3-7 times (e.g. shifting from 250-430 Hz to 1400-2000 Hz), surpassing existing methods. Notably, this is achieved without pre-deformation or major changes to its static stiffness in the wave propagation direction, ensuring robust in-situ tunability and smooth control even under heavy static loads. This enables adaptable wave manipulation for versatile smart platforms.

Combinatorial Seshadri stratifications on normal toric varieties

We apply the theory of Seshadri stratifications to embedded toric varieties $X_P\subseteq \mathbb P(V)$ associated with a normal lattice polytope $P$. The approach presented here is purely combinatorial and completely independent of \cite{CFL}. In particular, we get a close connection between a certain class of triangulations of the polytope $P$, Seshadri stratifications of $X_P$ arising from torus orbit closures, and the associated degenerate semi-toric varieties. In the last section we show that the approach here and the one in \cite{CFL} produce the same quasi-valuations and hence the same degenerations of $X_P$.

PaMMA-Net: Plasmas magnetic measurement evolution based on data-driven incremental accumulative prediction

An accurate evolution model is crucial for effective control and in-depth study of fusion plasmas. Evolution methods based on physical models often encounter challenges such as insufficient robustness or excessive computational costs. Given the proven strong fitting capabilities of deep learning methods across various fields, including plasma research, this paper introduces a deep learning-based magnetic measurement evolution method named PaMMA-Net (Plasma Magnetic Measurements Incremental Accumulative Prediction Network). This network is capable of evolving magnetic measurements in tokamak discharge experiments over extended periods or, in conjunction with equilibrium reconstruction algorithms, evolving macroscopic parameters such as plasma shape. Leveraging a incremental prediction approach and data augmentation techniques tailored for magnetic measurements, PaMMA-Net achieves superior evolution results compared to existing studies. The tests conducted on real experimental data from EAST validate the high generalization capability of the proposed method.

MVANet: Multi-Stage Video Attention Network for Sound Event Localization and Detection with Source Distance Estimation

Sound event localization and detection with source distance estimation (3D SELD) involves not only identifying the sound category and its direction-of-arrival (DOA) but also predicting the source's distance, aiming to provide full information about the sound position. This paper proposes a multi-stage video attention network (MVANet) for audio-visual (AV) 3D SELD. Multi-stage audio features are used to adaptively capture the spatial information of sound sources in videos. We propose a novel output representation that combines the DOA with distance of sound sources by calculating the real Cartesian coordinates to address the newly introduced source distance estimation (SDE) task in the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2024 Challenge. We also employ a variety of effective data augmentation and pre-training methods. Experimental results on the STARSS23 dataset have proven the effectiveness of our proposed MVANet. By integrating the aforementioned techniques, our system outperforms the top-ranked method we used in the AV 3D SELD task of the DCASE 2024 Challenge without model ensemble. The code will be made publicly available in the future.

The USTC-NERCSLIP Systems for The ICMC-ASR Challenge

This report describes the submitted system to the In-Car Multi-Channel Automatic Speech Recognition (ICMC-ASR) challenge, which considers the ASR task with multi-speaker overlapping and Mandarin accent dynamics in the ICMC case. We implement the front-end speaker diarization using the self-supervised learning representation based multi-speaker embedding and beamforming using the speaker position, respectively. For ASR, we employ an iterative pseudo-label generation method based on fusion model to obtain text labels of unsupervised data. To mitigate the impact of accent, an Accent-ASR framework is proposed, which captures pronunciation-related accent features at a fine-grained level and linguistic information at a coarse-grained level. On the ICMC-ASR eval set, the proposed system achieves a CER of 13.16% on track 1 and a cpCER of 21.48% on track 2, which significantly outperforms the official baseline system and obtains the first rank on both tracks.

Equity-aware Load Shedding Optimization

Load shedding is usually the last resort to balance generation and demand to maintain stable operation of the electric grid after major disturbances. Current load-shedding optimization practices focus mainly on the physical optimality of the network power flow. This might lead to an uneven allocation of load curtailment, disadvantaging some loads more than others. Addressing this oversight, this paper introduces an innovative equity-aware load-shedding optimization model that emphasizes a fair allocation of load curtailment across the network. By proposing a novel equity indicator for load shedding and integrating it into an ACOPF-based optimization framework, we offer grid operators a more balanced and equitable load shedding strategy. Case studies highlight the importance of equity considerations in determining optimal load curtailment between buses.

Exploring Audio-Visual Information Fusion for Sound Event Localization and Detection In Low-Resource Realistic Scenarios

This study presents an audio-visual information fusion approach to sound event localization and detection (SELD) in low-resource scenarios. We aim at utilizing audio and video modality information through cross-modal learning and multi-modal fusion. First, we propose a cross-modal teacher-student learning (TSL) framework to transfer information from an audio-only teacher model, trained on a rich collection of audio data with multiple data augmentation techniques, to an audio-visual student model trained with only a limited set of multi-modal data. Next, we propose a two-stage audio-visual fusion strategy, consisting of an early feature fusion and a late video-guided decision fusion to exploit synergies between audio and video modalities. Finally, we introduce an innovative video pixel swapping (VPS) technique to extend an audio channel swapping (ACS) method to an audio-visual joint augmentation. Evaluation results on the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2023 Challenge data set demonstrate significant improvements in SELD performances. Furthermore, our submission to the SELD task of the DCASE 2023 Challenge ranks first place by effectively integrating the proposed techniques into a model ensemble.

Linear degenerate symplectic flag varieties: symmetric degenerations and PBW locus

We conceptualize in the paper the linear degenerate symplectic flag varieties as symmetric degenerations within the framework of type $A$ equioriented quivers. First, in the larger context of symmetric degenerations, we give a self-contained proof of the equivalence of different degeneration orders. Furthermore, we investigate the PBW locus: geometric properties of the degenerate varieties in this locus are proved by realizing them from different perspectives.
