V2X-Seq: A Large-Scale Sequential Dataset for Vehicle-Infrastructure Cooperative Perception and Forecasting

Utilizing infrastructure and vehicle-side information to track and forecast the behaviors of surrounding traffic participants can significantly improve decision-making and safety in autonomous driving. However, the lack of real-world sequential datasets limits research in this area. To address this issue, we introduce V2X-Seq, the first large-scale sequential V2X dataset, which includes data frames, trajectories, vector maps, and traffic lights captured from natural scenery. V2X-Seq comprises two parts: the sequential perception dataset, which includes more than 15,000 frames captured from 95 scenarios, and the trajectory forecasting dataset, which contains about 80,000 infrastructure-view scenarios, 80,000 vehicle-view scenarios, and 50,000 cooperative-view scenarios captured from 28 intersections' areas, covering 672 hours of data. Based on V2X-Seq, we introduce three new tasks for vehicle-infrastructure cooperative (VIC) autonomous driving: VIC3D Tracking, Online-VIC Forecasting, and Offline-VIC Forecasting. We also provide benchmarks for the introduced tasks. Find data, code, and more up-to-date information at \href{https://github.com/AIR-THU/DAIR-V2X-Seq}{https://github.com/AIR-THU/DAIR-V2X-Seq}.

Covariant transport equation and gravito-conductivity in generic stationary spacetimes

We find a near detailed balance solution to the relativistic Boltzmann equation under the relaxation time approximation with a collision term which differs from the Anderson-Witting model and is dependent on the stationary observer. Using this new solution, we construct an explicit covariant transport equation for the particle flux in response to the generalized temperature and chemical potential gradients in generic stationary spacetimes, with the transport tensors characterized by some integral functions in the chemical potential and the relativistic coldness. To illustrate the application of the transport equation we study probe systems in Rindler and Kerr spacetimes and analyze the asymptotic properties of the gravito-conductivity tensor in the near horizon limit. It turns out that both the longitudinal and lateral parts (if present) of the gravito-conductivity tend to be divergent in the near horizon limit. In the weak field limit, our results coincide with with the non-relativistic gravitational transport equation which follows from the direct application of the Drude model.

Relativistic transformation of thermodynamic parameters and refined Saha equation

The relativistic transformation rule for temperature is a subject under debate for more than 110 years. Several incompatible proposals exist in the literature, but a final resolution is still missing. In this work, we reconsider the problem of relativistic transformation rules for a number of thermodynamic parameters, including temperature, chemical potential, pressure, entropy and enthalpy densities for a relativistic perfect fluid using relativistic kinetic theory. The analysis is carried out in a fully relativistic covariant manner, and the explicit transformation rules for the above quantities are obtained in both Minkowski and Rindler spacetimes. Our results suggest that the temperature of a moving fluid appears to be colder, supporting the proposal by de Broglie, Einstein and Planck in contrast to other proposals. Moreover, in the case of Rindler fluid, our work indicates that, the total number of particles and the total entropy of a perfect fluid in a box whose bottom is parallel to the Rindler horizon are proportional to the area of the bottom, but are independent of the height of the box, provided the bottom of the box is sufficiently close to the Rindler horizon. The area dependence of the particle number implies that the particles tend to be gathered toward the bottom of the box and hence implicitly determines the distribution of chemical potential of the system, whereas the area dependence of the entropy indicates that the entropy is still additive and may find some applications in explaining the area law of black hole entropy. As a by product, we also obtain a relativistically refined version of the famous Saha equation which holds in both Minkowski and Rindler spacetimes.

Simple Recurrent Neural Networks is all we need for clinical events predictions using EHR data

Recently, there is great interest to investigate the application of deep learning models for the prediction of clinical events using electronic health records (EHR) data. In EHR data, a patient's history is often represented as a sequence of visits, and each visit contains multiple events. As a result, deep learning models developed for sequence modeling, like recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are common architecture for EHR-based clinical events predictive models. While a large variety of RNN models were proposed in the literature, it is unclear if complex architecture innovations will offer superior predictive performance. In order to move this field forward, a rigorous evaluation of various methods is needed. In this study, we conducted a thorough benchmark of RNN architectures in modeling EHR data. We used two prediction tasks: the risk for developing heart failure and the risk of early readmission for inpatient hospitalization. We found that simple gated RNN models, including GRUs and LSTMs, often offer competitive results when properly tuned with Bayesian Optimization, which is in line with similar to findings in the natural language processing (NLP) domain. Ricci polynomial gravity

We study a novel class of higher curvature gravity models in $n$ spacetime dimensions which we call Ricci polynomial gravity. The action is consisted purely of a polynomial in Ricci curvature of order $N$. In the absence of the second order terms in the action, the models are ghost free around the Minkowski vacuum. By appropriately choosing the coupling coefficients in front of each terms in the action, it is shown that the models can have multiple vacua with different effective cosmological constants, and can be made free of ghost and scalar degrees of freedom around at least one of the maximally symmetric vacua for any $n>2$ and any $N\geq 4$. We also discuss some of the physical implications of the existence of multiple vacua in the contexts of black hole physics and cosmology.

Time evolving fluid from Vaidya spacetime

A time evolving fluid system is constructed on a timelike boundary hypersurface at finite cutoff in Vaidya spacetime. The approach used to construct the fluid equations is a direct extension of the ordinary Gravity/Fluid correspondence under the constrained fluctuation obeying Petrov type I conditions. The explicit relationships between the time dependent fluctuation modes and the fluid quantities such as density, velocity field and kinematic viscosity parameters are established, and the resulting fluid system is governed by a system of a sourced continuity equation and a compressible Navier-Stokes equation with non-trivial time evolution.

Fluids and vortex from constrained fluctuations around C-metric black hole

By foliating the four-dimensional C-metric black hole spacetime, we consider a kind of initial-value-like formulation of the vacuum Einstein's equation, the holographic initial data is a double consisting of the induced metric and the Brown-York energy momentum tensor on an arbitrary initial hypersurface. Then by perturbing the initial data that generates the background spacetime, it is shown that, in an appropriate limit, the fluctuation modes are governed by the continuity equation and the compressible Navier-Stokes equation which describe the momentum transport in non-relativistic viscous fluid on a flat Newtonian space. It turns out that the flat space fluid behaves as a pure vortex and the viscosity to entropy ratio is subjected to the black hole acceleration.

Angular characteristics of a multimode fiber surface plasmon resonance sensor under wavelength interrogation

In this paper the angular characteristics of a multimode fiber SPR sensor are theoretically investigated. By separating the contributions of beams incident at different angles, a compact model is presented to predict the shift of the resonance wavelength with respect to the angle and the environmental refractive index. The result suggests that the performance of conventional fiber SPR sensors can be substantially improved by optimizing the incident angle. Furthermore, our investigation suggests some problems in previous reports.

Compressible forced viscous fluid from product Einstein manifolds

We consider the fluctuation modes around a hypersurface $Σ_c$ in a $(d+2)$-dimensional product Einstein manifold, with $Σ_c$ taken either near the horizon or at some finite cutoff from the horizon. By mapping the equations that governs the lowest nontrivial order of the fluctuation modes into a system of partial differential equations on a flat Newtonian spacetime, a system of compressible, forced viscous fluid is realized. This result generalizes the non bulk/boundary holographic duality constructed by us recently to the case of a different background geometry.

Flat space compressible fluid as holographic dual of black hole with curved horizon

We consider the fluid dual of $(d+2)$-dimensional vacuum Einstein equation either with or without a cosmological constant. The background solutions admit black hole event horizons and the spatial sections of the horizons are conformally flat. Therefore, a $d$-dimensional flat Euclidean space $\mathbb{E}^d$ is contained in the conformal class of the spatial section of the black hole horizon. A compressible, forced, stationary and viscous fluid system can be constructed on the product (Newtonian) spacetime $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{E}^d$ as the lowest order fluctuation modes around such black hole background. This construction provides the first example of holographic duality which is beyond the class of bulk/boundary correspondence.
