Memory and thermal amplification in spin--cavity squared commutators

Squared commutators in the Holstein--Primakoff limit of a spin--cavity system provide a compact way to separate propagation from covariance growth in a finite-temperature reservoir with memory. In the finite-temperature NMQSD construction, the linear quadrature commutator is fixed by the retarded spin--cavity propagator, whereas a quadratic commutator carries the same retarded factor together with a covariance factor. For a zero-mean Gaussian state, \(C_{R_i^2,R_j}(t)=4|\kappa_{ij}(t)|^2V_{ii}(t)\); the symmetrized expression gives the spin-side and mixed channels. Since \(\bar n\) enters the covariance sector but not the homogeneous retarded kernel, raising \(\bar n\) from 0 to 1 leaves the linear transfer unchanged while increasing the quadratic signal. Varying the bath-memory rate and the counter-rotating coupling within the stable HP region then shows how stored cavity history changes both the transfer weight and its distribution in time. The calculation separates memory-dependent propagation from thermal covariance growth in collective spin--cavity dynamics.

Altermagnetism and Room-Temperature Metal-to-Insulator Transition in CsCr$_2$S$_2$O

Metal-to-insulator transitions (MITs), particularly near room temperature, have been extensively studied in nonmagnetic and conventional ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic systems, yet the co-emergence of MIT and altermagnetism (AM) remains unexplored. Here, a layered chromium-based compound CsCr$_2$S$_2$O that realizes this coexistence was synthesized. It crystalizes in CeCr$_2$Si$_2$C-type structure with Cr moments orders in a C-type antiferromagnetic configuration below $T_\mathrm{N}$ = 326 K, constituting a room-temperature d-wave altermagnet. In the altermagnetic state, a subsequent Verwey-type MIT appears at $T_\mathrm{MI}$ = 305 K, driven by a tetragonal-to-orthorhombic structural distortion and stripe charge ordering of Cr$^{+2}$/Cr$^{+3}$ ions, while maintaining its altermagnetic character. First-principles calculations show moment-dependent spin-split electronic structures with maximum splitting energies of ~0.6 eV and ~0.3 eV in the metallic and insulating states, respectively. Our work links the two prominent phenomena, MIT and AM, in a single material, establishing a new platform for potential spintronic applications.

Magnetism and Correlated Electrons in LaCr$_2$Ge$_2$N

We report the synthesis, structure and physical properties of a new quaternary nitride LaCr$_2$Ge$_2$N. The compound crystallizes in the CeCr$_2$Si$_2$C-type structure (P4/mmm), featuring distinctive Cr$_2$N square sheets within Cr$_2$Ge$_2$N block layers. Physical characterizations reveal enhanced electron correlations evidenced by a Sommerfeld coefficient substantially larger than band calculations and pressure-induced deviation from Fermi-liquid behavior. Magnetic measurements show short-range antiferromagnetic correlations developing around 460 K, followed by long-range magnetic ordering at 14 K. Additionally, subtle anomalies at 378 K suggest possible electronic ordering. First-principles calculations reveal nearly-flat Cr-3d bands near the Fermi level and predict a striped antiferromagnetic ground state. This work demonstrates how electron count variation in the CeCr$_2$Si$_2$C-type structure family leads to magnetic ordering in LaCr$_2$Ge$_2$N, contrasting with the paramagnetic behavior of LnCr$_2$Si$_2$C compounds.

Entropy stabilization and effect of A-site ionic size in bilayer nickelates

The discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ under high pressure has sparked a surge of research into Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) nickelates. Currently, stabilizing the bilayer RP phases with smaller $A$-site ions remains a significant challenge. In this work, we have successfully synthesized medium- and high-entropy bilayer nickelates, La$_{1.2}$Pr$_{0.6}$Nd$_{0.6}$Sm$_{0.6}$Ni$_2$O$_{7-\delta}$ and La$_{0.67}$Pr$_{0.67}$Nd$_{0.67}$Sm$_{0.33}$Eu$_{0.33}$Gd$_{0.33}$Ni$_2$O$_{7-\delta}$, by utilizing the concept of configuration entropy stabilization. The high-entropy nickelate exhibits the smallest unit-cell volume and the largest orthorhombic distortion reported to date. The chemical pressure induced by the smaller A-site ions significantly enhances the NiO$_6$ octahedral rotation/distortion and shortens the interlayer Ni-Ni interatomic spacing. Physical property measurements reveal bad electrical conductivity alongside a markedly elevated density-wave transition temperature. Notably, the superconducting transition temperature extrapolated from structural correlations is projected to exceed 100 K. Our work not only demonstrates entropy stabilization of bilayer nickelates, but also reveals the effect of $A$-site-ion size on the crystal structure and physical properties, opening a new pathway for developing nickelate superconductors and tuning their electronic properties.

Stabilization of Tetragonal Phase and Aluminum-Doping Effect in a Bilayer Nickelate

Recent studies suggest that the tetragonal phase of the Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) bilayer nickelate, La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ or La$_2$PrNi$_2$O$_7$, which is stabilized under high pressures, is responsible for high-temperature superconductivity (HTSC). In this context, realization of the tetragonal phase at ambient pressure could be a rational step to achieve the goal of ambient-pressure HTSC in the nickelate system. By employing the concept of Goldschmidt tolerance factor, we succeed in stabilizing the tetragonal phase by aluminum doping together with post annealing under moderately high oxygen pressure. X-ray and neutron diffractions verify the tetragonal $I4/mmm$ structure for the post-annealed samples La$_3$Ni$_{2-x}$Al$_x$O$_{7-\delta}$ (0.3 $\leq x \leq$ 0.5). The Al-doped samples, including the tetragonal ones, show semiconducting properties, carry localized magnetic moments, and exhibit spin-glass-like behaviors at low temperatures, all of which can be explained in terms of charge carrier localization. Furthermore, high-pressure resistance measurements on post-annealed samples reveal that even a low Al doping ($x$ = 0.05) suppresses superconductivity almost completely. This work gives information about the effect of nonmagnetic impurity on metallicity as well as superconductivity in bilayer nickelates, which would contribute to understanding the superconducting mechanism in RP nickelates.

Entanglement generation in capacitively coupled Transmon-cavity system

In this paper, the higher energy levels of the transmon qubit are taken into consideration to investigate the continuous variable entanglement generation between the transmon qubit and the single-mode cavity. Based on the framework of cavity quantum electrodynamics, we show the entanglement generation depends on the the driving field intensity, coupling strength, cavity field frequency, and qubit frequency. The numerical results show that strong entanglement can be generated by properly tuning these parameters. It is our hope that the results presented in this paper may lead to a better understanding of quantum entanglement generation in cavity QED system and provide new perspectives for further research in quantum information processing.

Superconductivity and Charge-density-wave-like Transition in Th2Cu4As5

We report the synthesis, crystal structure, and physical properties of a novel ternary compound, Th$_2$Cu$_4$As$_5$. The material crystallizes in a tetragonal structure with lattice parameters $a=4.0716(1)$ Å and $c=24.8131(4)$ Å. Its structure can be described as an alternating stacking of fluorite-type Th$_2$As$_2$ layers with antifluorite-type double-layered Cu$_4$As$_3$ slabs. The measurement of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat reveals that Th$_2$Cu$_4$As$_5$ undergoes bulk superconducting transition at 4.2 K. Moreover, all these physical quantities exhibit anomalies at 48 K, where the Hall coefficient change the sign. These findings suggest a charge-density-wave-like (CDW) transition, making Th$_2$Cu$_4$As$_5$ a rare example for studying the interplay between CDW and superconductivity.

Simiplified textures of the seesaw model for the trimaximal neutrino mixings

In the seesaw framework, in the basis of $M^{}_{\rm R}$ being diagonal, we explore the simplified textures of $M^{}_{\rm D}$ that can naturally yield the trimaximal neutrino mixings and their consequences for the neutrino parameters and leptogenesis. We first formulate the generic textures of $M^{}_{\rm D}$ that can naturally yield the trimaximal mixings and then examine if their parameters can be further reduced. Our analysis is restricted to the simple but instructive scenario that there is only one phase parameter $ϕ$ responsible for both the CP violating effects at low energies and leptogenesis. Our attention is paid to the textures of $M^{}_{\rm D}$ that possess some vanishing or equal elements. On the basis of these results, we further examine if $ϕ$ can also take a particular value. The consequences of the phenomenologically-viable simplified textures for the neutrino parameters and leptogenesis are studied. A concrete flavor-symmetry model that can realize one representation of them is given.
