ZID-Net: Zero-Inference Diffusion Prior Decoupling Network for Single Image Dehazing

Single image dehazing is often constrained by a trade-off between restoration quality and computational efficiency. While efficient, CNN networks struggle to learn robust priors for dense and non-homogeneous haze. Conversely, diffusion models provide strong generative priors but suffer from severe inference latency and sampling instability. To address these limitations, we propose ZID-Net, a novel framework that explicitly decouples diffusion supervision from feed-forward inference. For efficient inference, we design a frequency-spatial decoupled feed-forward backbone. Within this backbone, a Channel-Spatial Laplacian Mask (CSLM) filters haze-amplified noise to extract purified structural details, while Lightweight Global Context Blocks (LGCBs) establish long-range spatial dependencies to capture the global variations of haze. A Dynamic Feature Arbitration Block (DFAB) then adaptively fuses these semantic and structural features for robust reconstruction. To provide this backbone with physical priors without the inference cost, we introduce a Zero-Inference Prior Propagation Head (ZI-PPH) during training. ZI-PPH leverages a conditional diffusion process to predict residual noise, providing degradation-aware structural supervision to the backbone. By discarding the diffusion branch at test time, ZID-Net integrates diffusion priors into a pure feed-forward architecture for accurate and efficient restoration. ZID-Net achieves 40.75 dB PSNR on the synthetic RESIDE dataset and outperforms existing methods with a 1.13 dB gain on real-world datasets. Additionally, it yields a 3.06 dB PSNR gain on the StateHaze1k remote sensing dataset with an inference time of just 19.35 ms. The project code is available at: https://github.com/XoomitLXH/ZID-Net.

Jahn-Teller-like Distortion in a One-dimensional π-Conjugated Polymer

Structurally distorting low-dimensional π-conjugated systems can profoundly influence their electronic properties, but controlling such behavior in extended-width systems remains challenging. Here we demonstrate that a one-dimensional conjugated polymer, poly-(difluorenoheptalene-ethynylene) (PDFHE), undergoes a pronounced out-of-plane backbone distortion, equivalent to a spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) of its mirror symmetry. We synthesized PDFHE on noble metal surfaces and characterized its structure and electronic states using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. Rather than adopting a planar, high-symmetry conformation, PDFHE relaxes into non-planar isomers stabilized by a Jahn-Teller-like mechanism that relieves an electronic instability relative to the gapped planar structure. Density functional theory calculations corroborate these findings, revealing that distortion lowers the total polymer energy and enlarges the bandgap, providing a microscopic explanation for the SSB. Our results show that even in mechanically robust extended π-systems, subtle electron-lattice coupling can spontaneously drive significant structural rearrangements.

Link between cascade transitions and correlated Chern insulators in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene

Chern insulators are topologically non-trivial states of matter characterized by incompressible bulk and chiral edge states. Incorporating topological Chern bands with strong electronic correlations provides a versatile playground for studying emergent quantum phenomena. In this study, we resolve the correlated Chern insulators (CCIs) in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene (MATBG) through Rydberg exciton sensing spectroscopy, and unveil their direct link with the zero-field cascade features in the electronic compressibility. The compressibility minima in the cascade are found to deviate substantially from nearby integer fillings (by $Δν$) and coincide with the onsets of CCIs in doping densities, yielding a quasi-universal relation $B_c$=$Φ_0Δν/C$ (onset magnetic field $B_c$, magnetic flux quantum $Φ_0$ and Chern number $C$). We suggest these onsets lie on the intersection where the integer filling of localized "f-orbitals" and Chern bands are simultaneously reached. Our findings update the field-dependent phase diagram of MATBG and directly support the topological heavy fermion model.

Magnetic-field-induced splitting of Rydberg Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) and Autler-Townes (AT) spectra in $^{87}$Rb vapor cell

We theoretically and experimentally investigate the Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and Autler-Townes (AT) splitting of $^{87}$Rb vapor under the combined influence of a magnetic field and a microwave field. In the presence of static magnetic field, the effect of the microwave field leads to the dressing and splitting of each $m_F$ state, resulting in multiple spectral peaks in the EIT-AT spectrum. A simplified analytical formula was developed to explain the EIT-AT spectrum in a static magnetic field, and the calculations are in excellent agreement with experimental results. We further studied the enhancement of the Rydberg atom microwave electric field sensor performance by making use of the splitting interval between the two maximum absolute $m_F$ states under static magnetic field. The traceable measurement limit of weak electric field by EIT-AT splitting method was extended by an order of magnitude, which is promising for precise microwave electric field measurement.
