SyncBreaker:Stage-Aware Multimodal Adversarial Attacks on Audio-Driven Talking Head Generation

Diffusion-based audio-driven talking-head generation enables realistic portrait animation, but also introduces risks of misuse, such as fraud and misinformation. Existing protection methods are largely limited to a single modality, and neither image-only nor audio-only attacks can effectively suppress speech-driven facial dynamics. To address this gap, we propose SyncBreaker, a stage-aware multimodal protection framework that jointly perturbs portrait and audio inputs under modality-specific perceptual constraints. Our key contributions are twofold. First, for the image stream, we introduce nullifying supervision with Multi-Interval Sampling (MIS) across diffusion stages to steer the generation toward the static reference portrait by aggregating guidance from multiple denoising intervals. Second, for the audio stream, we propose Cross-Attention Fooling (CAF), which suppresses interval-specific audio-conditioned cross-attention responses. Both streams are optimized independently and combined at inference time to enable flexible deployment. We evaluate SyncBreaker in a white-box proactive protection setting. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SyncBreaker more effectively degrades lip synchronization and facial dynamics than strong single-modality baselines, while preserving input perceptual quality and remaining robust under purification. Dual-Channel Adaptive NMPC for Quadrotor under Instantaneous Impact and Payload Disturbances

Capturing target objects using the quadrotor has gained increasing popularity in recent years, but most studies focus on capturing lightweight objects. The instantaneous contact force generated when capturing objects of a certain mass, along with the payload uncertainty after attachment, will pose significant challenges to the quadrotor control. This paper proposes a novel control architecture, namely Dual-Channel Adaptive Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (DCA-NMPC), which cascades a nonlinear model predictive control with two lower-level model reference adaptive controllers and can resist drastic impact and adapt to uncertain inertial parameters. Numerical simulation experiments are performed for validation.

Experimental Designs for Multi-Item Multi-Period Inventory Control

Randomized experiments, or A/B testing, are the gold standard for evaluating interventions, yet they remain underutilized in inventory management. This study addresses this gap by analyzing A/B testing strategies in multi-item, multi-period inventory systems with lost sales and capacity constraints. We examine two canonical experimental designs--switchback experiments and item-level randomization--and show that both suffer from systematic bias due to interference: temporal carryover in switchbacks and cannibalization across items under capacity constraints. Under mild conditions, we characterize the direction of this bias in different scenarios. Motivated by two-sided randomization, we propose a pairwise design over items and time and analyze its bias properties. Controlled stochastic simulations verify the theoretical predictions, and trace-driven experiments on real-world fresh-retail data show that the same mechanisms persist in realistic environments with stockout substitution.

The Application of ChatGPT in Responding to Questions Related to the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale

Background: Colonoscopy, a crucial diagnostic tool in gastroenterology, depends heavily on superior bowel preparation. ChatGPT, a large language model with emergent intelligence which also exhibits potential in medical applications. This study aims to assess the accuracy and consistency of ChatGPT in using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) for colonoscopy assessment. Methods: We retrospectively collected 233 colonoscopy images from 2020 to 2023. These images were evaluated using the BBPS by 3 senior endoscopists and 3 novice endoscopists. Additionally, ChatGPT also assessed these images, having been divided into three groups and undergone specific Fine-tuning. Consistency was evaluated through two rounds of testing. Results: In the initial round, ChatGPT's accuracy varied between 48.93% and 62.66%, trailing the endoscopists' accuracy of 76.68% to 77.83%. Kappa values for ChatGPT was between 0.52 and 0.53, compared to 0.75 to 0.87 for the endoscopists. Conclusion: While ChatGPT shows promise in bowel preparation scoring, it currently does not match the accuracy and consistency of experienced endoscopists. Future research should focus on in-depth Fine-tuning.

Bayesian Robust Tensor Ring Model for Incomplete Multiway Data

Robust tensor completion (RTC) aims to recover a low-rank tensor from its incomplete observation with outlier corruption. The recently proposed tensor ring (TR) model has demonstrated superiority in solving the RTC problem. However, the existing methods either require a pre-assigned TR rank or aggressively pursue the minimum TR rank, thereby often leading to biased solutions in the presence of noise. In this paper, a Bayesian robust tensor ring decomposition (BRTR) method is proposed to give more accurate solutions to the RTC problem, which can avoid exquisite selection of the TR rank and penalty parameters. A variational Bayesian (VB) algorithm is developed to infer the probability distribution of posteriors. During the learning process, BRTR can prune off slices of core tensor with marginal components, resulting in automatic TR rank detection. Extensive experiments show that BRTR can achieve significantly improved performance than other state-of-the-art methods.

Planar alignment of Liquid Crystals on h-BN for Near-Eye Displays

Liquid crystals alignment on 2D materials is known due to their intrinsic van der Waals interaction. Here, we demonstrate that direction of electric field can tune the alignment of liquid crystal adsorbed on 2D surface. Due to degeneracy of alignment liquid crystal on hexagonal surface, it prefers to align in three multiple states. We utilized this concept and control the alignment of grains of chemical vapor deposition grown boron nitride (h-BN) to control the incident light. It was demonstrated that electric field can reorient the direction of liquid crystal alignment on Zigzag and armchair edges of h-BN. The ab initio calculations confirmed the favorable adsorption configurations of liquid crystal molecule on hexagonal boron nitride surface. This concept provides a pathway towards dynamic high-quality pixels with low power consumption and could define a new avenue in near-eye displays.
