GRACE: Boosting Video MLLMs with Grounded Action-Centric Evidence for Viewer Sentiment Prediction

Viewer sentiment prediction in video advertisements aims to infer the latent affective response evoked in the audience. To bridge the gap between what is shown and what is felt, models must deduce hidden viewer emotions from explicit visual narratives, concrete character-object interactions, and visible textual cues. However, standard Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) typically rely on holistic frame representations, which leave these fine-grained, affect-relevant events implicit and complicate precise emotional reasoning. To address this, we propose a grounded action-centric evidence augmentation framework that enhances video MLLMs' clue extraction and comprehension by introducing explicit event structure and localized visual evidence. Our method extracts temporally ordered subject-verb-object (SVO) triplets and auxiliary visible textual cues from action-centric video descriptions, grounds subject and object entities as visual entity crops, and then enables the MLLM to perform clue-enhanced emotional reasoning based on these extracted structured clues. In this way, action triplets specify "what happens", while grounded visual entity crops anchor "who or what participates in each event" to concrete visual evidence. Experiments on the Pitts dataset show consistent improvements over Qwen2.5-VL and Qwen3-VL baselines. Ablation studies, cross-dataset evaluation on AdsQA, and transfer experiments on an emotion-focused TVQA subset further support the effectiveness and generalization of our approach.

Evidence for a gapless Dirac spin-liquid ground state in a spin-3/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnet

We report a comprehensive investigation of the magnetism of the $S$ = 3/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnet, $α$-CrOOH(D) (delafossites green-grey powder). The nearly Heisenberg antiferromagnetic Hamiltonian ($J_1$ $\sim$ 23.5 K) with a weak single-ion anisotropy of $|D|$/$J_1$ $\sim$ 4.6% is quantitatively determined by fitting to the electron spin resonance (ESR) linewidth and susceptibility measured at high temperatures. The weak single-ion anisotropy interactions, possibly along with other perturbations, e.g. next-nearest-neighbor interactions, suppress the long-range magnetic order and render the system disordered, as evidenced by both the absence of any clear magnetic reflections in neutron diffraction and the presence of the dominant paramagnetic ESR signal down to 2 K ($\sim$ 0.04$J_1$$S^2$), where the magnetic entropy is almost zero. The power-law behavior of specific heat ($C_m$ $\sim$ $T^{2.2}$) observed below the freezing temperature of $T_f$ = 25 K in $α$-CrOOH or below $T_f$ = 22 K in $α$-CrOOD is insensitive to the external magnetic field, and thus is consistent with the theoretical prediction of a gapless U(1) Dirac quantum spin liquid (QSL) ground state. At low temperatures, the spectral weight of the low-energy continuous spin excitations accumulates at the K points of the Brillouin zone, e.g. $|\mathbf{Q}|$ = 4$π$/(3$a$), and the putative Dirac cones are clearly visible. Our work is a first step towards the understanding of the possible Dirac QSL ground state in this triangular-lattice magnet with $S$ = 3/2.

Neutron powder diffraction study on the non-superconducting phases of ThFeAsN$_{1-x}$O$_x$ ($x=0.15, 0.6$) iron pnictide

We use neutron powder diffraction to study on the non-superconducting phases of ThFeAsN$_{1-x}$O$_x$ with $x=0.15, 0.6$. In our previous results on the superconducting phase ThFeAsN with $T_c=$ 30 K, no magnetic transition is observed by cooling down to 6 K, and possible oxygen occupancy at the nitrogen site is shown in the refinement(H. C. Mao \emph{et al.}, EPL, 117, 57005 (2017)). Here, in the oxygen doped system ThFeAsN$_{1-x}$O$_x$, two superconducting region ($0\leqslant x \leqslant 0.1$ and $0.25\leqslant x \leqslant 0.55$) have been identified by transport experiments (B. Z. Li \emph{et al.}, J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 30, 255602 (2018)). However, within the resolution of our neutron powder diffraction experiment, neither the intermediate doping $x=0.15$ nor the heavily overdoped compound $x= 0.6$ shows any magnetic order from 300 K to 4 K. Therefore, while it shares the common phenomenon of two superconducting domes as most of 1111-type iron-based superconductors, the magnetically ordered parent compound may not exist in this nitride family.

Tunable giant exchange bias in single-phase rare earth-transition metal intermetallics YMn12-xFex with highly homogenous inter-sublattice exchange coupling

In this paper, we have found a family of intermetallic compounds YMn12-xFex (x = 6.6-8.8) showing a bulk form of tunable giant exchange bias effect which arises from global interactions among ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) sublattices but not the interfacial exchange coupling or inhomogeneous magnetic clusters. A giant exchange bias with a loop shift up to 6.1 kOe has been observed in YMn4.4Fe7.6 compound with the strongest competing magnetic interactions. In a narrow temperature range, the exchange bias field shows a sudden switching off whereas the coercivity shows a sudden switching on with increasing temperature. This unique feature indicates that the inter-sublattice exchange coupling is highly homogenous, which can be perfectly interperated by our theoretical calculations.
