WD-FQDet: Multispectral Detection Transformer via Wavelet Decomposition and Frequency-aware Query Learning

Infrared-visible object detection improves detection performance by combining complementary features from multispectral images. Existing backbone-specific and backbone-shared approaches still suffer from the problems of severe bias of modality-shared features and the insufficiency of modality-specific features. To address these issues, we propose a novel detection framework WD-FQDet that explicitly decouples modality-shared and modality-specific information from infrared and visible modalities in the new view of low- and high-frequency domains, allowing fusion strategies tailored to their frequency characteristics. Specifically, a low-frequency homogeneity alignment module is proposed to align modality-shared features across modalities via a cross-modal attention mechanism, and a high-frequency specificity retention module is proposed to preserve modality-specific features through the multi-scale gradient consistency loss. To reinforce the feature representation in the frequency domain, we propose a hybrid feature enhancement module that incorporates spatial cues. Furthermore, considering that the contributions of homogeneous and modality-specific features to object detection vary across scenarios, we propose a frequency-aware query selection module to dynamically regulate their contributions. Experimental results on the FLIR, LLVIP, and M3FD datasets demonstrate that WD-FQDet achieves state-of-the-art performance across multiple evaluation metrics.

DFR: A Decompose-Fuse-Reconstruct Framework for Multi-Modal Few-Shot Segmentation

This paper presents DFR (Decompose, Fuse and Reconstruct), a novel framework that addresses the fundamental challenge of effectively utilizing multi-modal guidance in few-shot segmentation (FSS). While existing approaches primarily rely on visual support samples or textual descriptions, their single or dual-modal paradigms limit exploitation of rich perceptual information available in real-world scenarios. To overcome this limitation, the proposed approach leverages the Segment Anything Model (SAM) to systematically integrate visual, textual, and audio modalities for enhanced semantic understanding. The DFR framework introduces three key innovations: 1) Multi-modal Decompose: a hierarchical decomposition scheme that extracts visual region proposals via SAM, expands textual semantics into fine-grained descriptors, and processes audio features for contextual enrichment; 2) Multi-modal Contrastive Fuse: a fusion strategy employing contrastive learning to maintain consistency across visual, textual, and audio modalities while enabling dynamic semantic interactions between foreground and background features; 3) Dual-path Reconstruct: an adaptive integration mechanism combining semantic guidance from tri-modal fused tokens with geometric cues from multi-modal location priors. Extensive experiments across visual, textual, and audio modalities under both synthetic and real settings demonstrate DFR's substantial performance improvements over state-of-the-art methods.

SS-DC: Spatial-Spectral Decoupling and Coupling Across Visible-Infrared Gap for Domain Adaptive Object Detection

Unsupervised domain adaptive object detection (UDAOD) from the visible domain to the infrared (RGB-IR) domain is challenging. Existing methods regard the RGB domain as a unified domain and neglect the multiple subdomains within it, such as daytime, nighttime, and foggy scenes. We argue that decoupling the domain-invariant (DI) and domain-specific (DS) features across these multiple subdomains is beneficial for RGB-IR domain adaptation. To this end, this paper proposes a new SS-DC framework based on a decoupling-coupling strategy. In terms of decoupling, we design a Spectral Adaptive Idempotent Decoupling (SAID) module in the aspect of spectral decomposition. Due to the style and content information being highly embedded in different frequency bands, this module can decouple DI and DS components more accurately and interpretably. A novel filter bank-based spectral processing paradigm and a self-distillation-driven decoupling loss are proposed to improve the spectral domain decoupling. In terms of coupling, a new spatial-spectral coupling method is proposed, which realizes joint coupling through spatial and spectral DI feature pyramids. Meanwhile, this paper introduces DS from decoupling to reduce the domain bias. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method can significantly improve the baseline performance and outperform existing UDAOD methods on multiple RGB-IR datasets, including a new experimental protocol proposed in this paper based on the FLIR-ADAS dataset.

Online Regularized Statistical Learning in Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space With Non-Stationary Data

We study recursive regularized learning algorithms in the reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS) with non-stationary online data streams. We introduce the concept of a random Tikhonov regularization path and decompose the tracking error of the algorithm's output for the regularization path into random difference equations in RKHS. We show that the tracking error vanishes in mean square and almost surely if the regularization path is slowly time-varying. Then, leveraging the monotonicity of inverse operators and the spectral decomposition of compact operators, and introducing the RKHS persistence of excitation condition, we develop a dominated convergence method to prove the mean square and almost sure consistency between the regularization path and the unknown function to be learned. Especially, for independent and non-identically distributed data streams, the mean square and almost sure consistency between the algorithm's output and the unknown function is achieved if the input data's marginal probability measures are slowly time-varying and the average measure over each fixed-length time period is uniformly above a strictly positive finite Borel measure.

Decentralized Online Learning for Random Inverse Problems Over Graphs

We propose a decentralized online learning algorithm for distributed random inverse problems over network graphs with online measurements, and unifies the distributed parameter estimation in Hilbert spaces and the least mean square problem in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces (RKHS-LMS). We transform the convergence of the algorithm into the asymptotic stability of a class of inhomogeneous random difference equations in Hilbert spaces with $L_{2}$-bounded martingale difference terms and develop the $L_2$-asymptotic stability theory in Hilbert spaces. We show that if the network graph is connected and the sequence of forward operators satisfies the infinite-dimensional spatio-temporal persistence of excitation condition, then the estimates of all nodes are mean square and almost surely strongly consistent. Moreover, we propose a decentralized online learning algorithm in RKHS based on non-stationary online data streams, and prove that the algorithm is mean square and almost surely strongly consistent if the operators induced by the random input data satisfy the infinite-dimensional spatio-temporal persistence of excitation condition.

Decentralized Online Regularized Learning Over Random Time-Varying Graphs

We study the decentralized online regularized linear regression algorithm over random time-varying graphs. At each time step, every node runs an online estimation algorithm consisting of an innovation term processing its own new measurement, a consensus term taking a weighted sum of estimations of its own and its neighbors with additive and multiplicative communication noises and a regularization term preventing over-fitting. It is not required that the regression matrices and graphs satisfy special statistical assumptions such as mutual independence, spatio-temporal independence or stationarity. We develop the nonnegative supermartingale inequality of the estimation error, and prove that the estimations of all nodes converge to the unknown true parameter vector almost surely if the algorithm gains, graphs and regression matrices jointly satisfy the sample path spatio-temporal persistence of excitation condition. Especially, this condition holds by choosing appropriate algorithm gains if the graphs are uniformly conditionally jointly connected and conditionally balanced, and the regression models of all nodes are uniformly conditionally spatio-temporally jointly observable, under which the algorithm converges in mean square and almost surely. In addition, we prove that the regret upper bound is $O(T^{1-\tau}\ln T)$, where $\tau\in (0.5,1)$ is a constant depending on the algorithm gains.

Decentralized Cooperative Online Estimation With Random Observation Matrices, Communication Graphs and Time Delays

We analyze convergence of decentralized cooperative online estimation algorithms by a network of multiple nodes via information exchanging in an uncertain environment. Each node has a linear observation of an unknown parameter with randomly time-varying observation matrices. The underlying communication network is modeled by a sequence of random digraphs and is subjected to nonuniform random time-varying delays in channels. Each node runs an online estimation algorithm consisting of a consensus term taking a weighted sum of its own estimate and neighbours' delayed estimates, and an innovation term processing its own new measurement at each time step. By stochastic time-varying system, martingale convergence theories and the binomial expansion of random matrix products, we transform the convergence analysis of the algorithm into that of the mathematical expectation of random matrix products. Firstly, for the delay-free case, we show that the algorithm gains can be designed properly such that all nodes' estimates converge to the true parameter in mean square and almost surely if the observation matrices and communication graphs satisfy the stochastic spatiotemporal persistence of excitation condition. Secondly, for the case with time delays, we introduce delay matrices to model the random time-varying communication delays between nodes. It is shown that under the stochastic spatio-temporal persistence of excitation condition, for any given boundeddelays, proper algorithm gains can be designed to guarantee mean square convergence for the case with conditionally balanced digraphs.

Two-dimensional Janus van der Waals heterojunctions: a review of recent research progresses

Two-dimensional Janus van der Waals (vdW) heterojunctions, referring to the junction containing at least one Janus material, are found to exhibit tuneable electronic structures, wide light adsorption spectra, controllable contact resistance, and sufficient redox potential due to the intrinsic polarization and unique interlayer coupling. These novel structures and properties are promising for the potential applications in electronics and energy conversion devices. To provide a comprehensive picture about the research progress and guide the following investigations, here we summarize their fundamental properties of different types of two-dimensional Janus vdW heterostructures including electronic structure, interface contact and optical properties, and discuss the potential applications in electronics and energy conversion devices. The further challenges and possible research directions of the novel heterojunctions are discussed at the end of this review.
